Aviation is cool and expansive but how do we connect it with the next generation. Mitch Williams has devoted his life to teaching people to fly. He along with the City of Chickasha has created an event that takes the love of aviation and mixes it with automobiles. The product is a fantastic event that draws people all over Oklahoma.
The annual Wings & Wheels Airshow & Car Show returns to the Chickasha Municipal Airport on Saturday, June 4. This year, the event will feature again feature Curt and Paul Richmondβs Pipes vs. Props show, along with performances by Kate Kyer, Stephen Covington, and Justin Lewis. The event is produced by David Schultz Airshows. Guests will have the opportunity to take photos with airplanes, check out classic cars, and enjoy food from local food trucks.
For young aviation enthusiasts, local EAA volunteers will offer free Young Eagles flights for children ages 8-17. Registration for these free flights will begin at 8 a.m. and space is limited.
Car show registration will be from 8 to 10:30 a.m., and there is no entry fee. Awards will be given for Best Car, Best Truck, Best Streetrod, Best Paint, and Best in Show, and will be presented at 11:30 a.m.
The airshow portion of the event will begin at 12 p.m.
Wings & Wheels attendees are encouraged to bring sunscreen and lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. Water will be available. No weapons, alcohol, or coolers are allowed to be brought to the event.

Auditions for The Chickasha Community Theater's Live Performance of Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr. are coming up and we sat down with Kassity and Diane from the Chickasha Community Theater (CCT) to get the behind the scenes scoop of what they are looking for in their cast members.

Intervention & Crisis Advocacy Network, ICAN!, was born in November 1980 from a group of dedicated women in a women's study class at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. They recognized a need for rape victims to have emergency services and support. In February of 1981, the concept was incorporated as the Women's Service Center of Chickasha, Inc. During the fall of 1985, the Board of Directors realized the name was very limiting. Services were provided all over the southwest region of the state and out of state. Services were not only provided to women, but to children and men. In January 1986, the name was changed to Women's Service & Family Resource Center. In 2015, to better reflect all those served, our agency was named Intervention & Crisis Advocacy Network. The Motto of the Intervention & Crisis Advocacy Network (ICAN!) is to: Intervene in times of Crisis; Advocate for victims of abuse; and Network throughout the community to end domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
