In the latest segment of my popular series of Alignment Reports, I share the wins, losses, and meaningful actions from January 2024 within my own business.
I take you on a journey through my recent foray into self-publishing. From wrestling with cover designs to figuring out spine formatting, every step taught me something new. From the launch of my brand-new podcast: the Human Design Profiles and Entrepreneurship Podcast, hopping on the Talking Freelance podcast as a guest and joining Lindsay Dollinger's Summit, lots happened in January.
Of course, no journey is without its hiccups. Cue the barcode saga – a little misstep in the self-publishing process that taught me some invaluable lessons.
As January draws to a close, take a moment to reflect on the wins, the challenges, and everything in between. It’s so worth it to be reflective and build your self-awareness as you build your business.
In this catchup Alignment Report episode, I share everything that’s felt aligned and not aligned in the last three months - plus my most meaningful actions.

Handling feelings of wordiness when you write can be tough! You may feel like you want to include every little detail in your writing, but you need to be mindful of your medium and its typical length. As a consumer of content, you likely have favorite people you enjoy reading from, and you would invest in their books even if they were hundreds of pages long. Similarly, your audience is invested in your writing, and their number is likely to grow as your content gets more precise and interesting - which is a direct result of brand voice!
Listen to this episode to dive into different aspects of writing and wordiness and learn how to handle these feelings as they come up while you write inside your business.

Some entrepreneurs are designed to constantly create new and big things. These entrepreneurs are known as manifestors.
Some entrepreneurs are designed to work tirelessly (sort of) on one thing at a time. They’re called generators.
Some entrepreneurs are designed to work quickly on many things and change things up all the time. These are the manifesting generators.
Some entrepreneurs are designed to focus more on directing energy rather than implementation, and they alternate being a guide to others and resting or studying. These are known as projectors.
Some entrepreneurs are designed to reflect back the energy of the people around them, to feel things deeply, to give themselves lots of time and to share the wisdom of their observations. These entrepreneurs are reflectors.

At it’s base level, the know, like, trust factor means that your clients have to know you in order to buy from you. They have to like you in order to do business with you. They have to trust you before they feel comfortable stepping into working with you.

Now, I know that as business owners, the more we know, like, and trust ourselves, the more our businesses soar! Episode 9 is all about the Spontaneous Strategy Pattern. It’s all about how as creatives, we sometimes resist planning ahead or adhering to a strategy. This tends to limit us in business.
Creating a rigid plan isn’t going to work for you because you’re likely to rebel from it. So how can you create a strategy that allows for flow? Learn how in this episode.
Through an affirmations practice, start to allow yourself to feel like someone who is able to set a plan ahead and keep it flexible and adaptable to your in-the-moment needs and wants. Learning to adapt the plans you’ve set for yourself is key so that you can work towards your business goals.

This episode takes on the Comfort Zoned pattern. Entrepreneurs are either hyper-aware they’re sticking to their comfort zone, or it’s hidden under their awareness - so tricky! This pattern can take many forms for the aware and unaware business owner, and we’ll talk about all of them in today’s episode.
Your brain wants to keep you safe. Only problem is, sometimes that limits you from making needed changes, trying something new, or noticing when something isn’t working and you’re trapped in the struggle. Using my own experience and that of my clients, I teach you how to implement strategies that will gently nudge you out of your comfort zone so you can be more successful in your business.

Today’s episode is all about the Half-Habit Pattern from the Playing Small Pattern series. This pattern normally reveals itself in our struggle to keep promises to ourselves and in our struggle to stay committed.
In business owners, this pattern can create a lot of guilt and frustration, causing us to feel like we are not enough. We create this expectation that we must show up every day and perform to the best of our ability because if we don’t, we are not good enough. Sound familiar?
If so, don’t fear. In episode 7 we work on healing this pattern. Using Gretchen Rubin’s Four Tendency Framework, we create a strategy that works to your strengths, giving you the best chance at successfully implementing so that you can become the entrepreneur that you aspire to be in business.

Episode 6 is all about the Inner Spinner Pattern. It speaks to the place that lives within (inner) where we can sometimes get stuck and start spiralling out of control (spinner) and it is the fourth pattern in the Playing Small Patterns series. Could this be the reason you're procrastinating? And what can you do to get out of it?
Looking at the psychology behind this Inner Spinner Pattern, we are able to understand it’s nature and recognize when we have entered this space. Using my own experience, I teach you how to implement a strategy that will cause you to break free anytime you find this pattern reoccurring.
Through an in-episode letter writing experience (have your pen and journal ready!) and with a little guidance from me, you'll learn how to confront that mindset of self-doubt and map out a path that will lead you down the road of creativity so that you are able to feel more like yourself in your business.

On today’s episode we will be looking at Outer Doubts, the third part in the Playing Small Patterns Series. This pattern has been popularized as imposter syndrome or comparisonitis, which most entrepreneurs are all too familiar with.
The Outer Doubts pattern is something that business owners have always had to face but with the rise of social media it has become a whole lot easier to see what other entrepreneurs are doing and not doing. Because of this, we may find ourselves going into comparison mode way too often.
In episode 5, I help you to find what’s right for you as an entrepreneur – no more cookie cutter business. Learn how to play by your own rules so that you create the business that you want in a way that makes you feel good.

Today, in the second part of the Playing-Small Pattern series, we discuss the Focused to a Fault Pattern and how this can show up in many different ways when working towards a purpose-driven brand. This is something that I see come up again and again when working with clients. In this episode we look at how it manifests itself in many different ways.
As well as looking the effects that being focused to a fault can have on you and your business, we go over some practical steps you can take to move past the old patterns that are holding you back. By creating quick wins, you can allow yourself to free up some mental space, moving you one step closer to your business goals.

In Episode 3 we delve into the first part of the Playing-Small Pattern series - Failure Fixation. Let's take a deeper look at having fears in business, the way in which those fears express themselves and how fear of making mistakes and failure can affect you as an entrepreneur.
In business, it is common for the feeling of inadequacy to keep coming up. I demonstrate to you how this keeps coming up for me by sharing my own story of failure in business. I then take the time to show you how you can combat this by taking the same course of action that I take in my business, to keep myself aligned.
Learn the difference between feeling fear and thinking fear, and with a quick meditation open a world of possibilities. Let’s move away from this “one way fits all” idea that keeps us in comparison mode and into a mode of, “I control the narrative” which frees us to create the purpose-driven business of our dreams.
