Welcome to conversations with Mayi Lenz that’s me! I’m your host a photographer obsessed with helping women lead unapologetically. On this show, you will hear not only from me but from other amazing women who are making a difference in the community.
My goal with this podcast is to inspire and help women develop powerful confidence in themselves and recognize the value they bring to the community and the world as a whole. Whether you are: a stay-at-home mom, entrepreneur, pursuing a career, or growing your business. We are here to build each other up!
When life gets heavy, creativity can become a lifeline. In this heartfelt conversation, writer and blogger Cathelina Duvert shares how living with depression shaped her creative journey and how storytelling became a path toward healing, resilience, and self-discovery.
This week’s bonus question comes from my conversation with Elizabeth De Sevo - It's Never Too Late, The Power of Intention and Reinvention. I ask every guest this same question because the answers are always powerful and deeply personal.
What do you do when you feel like you’ve hit rock bottom?
In this episode, I sit down with Jennifer Johnson, a wife, mother, and nurse who spent years in the high-pressure world of emergency rooms before facing her own season of burnout. Through that journey, she discovered the power of resilience, community, and trusting her intuition to rebuild her life with purpose.
We talk about:
- The moment that helped her rise after hitting rock bottom
- How mindset shifts can spark resilience in tough seasons
- Why sharing your story is a form of leadership
- The role of "community" in finding strength again
Whether you’re an entrepreneur, leader, or creative, this conversation will remind you that setbacks don’t define you; they can be the start of a powerful comeback.
What if resilience isn’t about “bouncing back,” but about “bouncing forward”? In this episode, I sit down with Elizabeth De Sevo, writer, coach, and author of Choose Your MOMents.
Elizabeth shares how the loss of her mother reshaped her perspective on life, why reinvention at midlife is possible, and how resilience can become fertile ground for growth. We explore simple, everyday practices that help us move through grief, change, and challenges with intention, and step into a stronger, wiser version of ourselves.
If you’ve ever felt like life knocked you down, this conversation will remind you: you don’t have to go back to who you were. You can choose to grow forward.

Angie shares her story of resilience, vulnerability, and courage, from hitting emotional rock bottom to leaping out of helicopters, bungee jumping, and cliff diving, and how true bravery often looks like allowing yourself to be seen. We dive into:
This conversation is for anyone ready to stop chasing approval and start living with purpose, confidence, and impact.

This week’s bonus question comes from my conversation with Dr. Julie Pham. I ask every guest this same question because the answers are always powerful and deeply personal.
In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Julie Pham to explore how curiosity can transform the way we lead, connect, and navigate change. Julie is the creator of The 7 Forms of Respect, a bestselling framework that challenges us to rethink what respect really means and how it shows up in our relationships and leadership.
We talk about the role curiosity plays in building confidence, doing what Julie calls a “personal passiveness audit,” and how women, especially in their 40s and 50s can use curiosity as a daily practice to embrace reinvention and step into new seasons of life.
This conversation is about more than leadership; it’s about shifting the way we see ourselves, each other, and the possibilities around us.

Hey beautiful people, it’s Mayi Lenz here, and today, we’re taking a little walk down memory lane. I’m re-airing one of my favorite conversations from the early days of the podcast—an inspiring chat with Cathy Cook, a powerhouse businesswoman and coach at Kennedy Training Network, which she co-owns with her husband.
This episode is a special one because it touches on two themes that are so close to my heart: making the bold leap from employee to business owner, and holding on to those childhood dreams that shaped who we are today.
Cathy and I talked about everything from building a business with your spouse, to keeping love and work in harmony, to growing up on a farm and defining what beauty means to her. It’s warm, real, and filled with so many gems.
Whether you're thinking about starting something new, working alongside your partner, or just needing a little inspiration to stay true to your path, this episode will speak to you.
So let’s revisit this beautiful conversation with Cathy Cook. I’ll be back next week with a brand new solo episode reflecting on this topic—and how the journey of becoming unapologetically you never stops evolving.

Before I dive into a new series of episodes on showing up authentically, embracing your brand story, and navigating transitions, I wanted to revisit this past episode — a conversation I had with Dr. Jessica Houston.
Dr. Houston is a licensed social worker, college professor, and the owner of a personal and professional development training company. She’s passionate about providing proven tools and strategies that you can begin implementing immediately — and trust me, this conversation is packed with valuable insights.
In this episode, we explored some powerful questions that are still so relevant today — especially if you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of your next step. We talked about two key reasons we don’t take action on our goals, how fear and self-doubt can hold us back, and the surprising truth about what it really takes to move forward.
We also had an important conversation about body image and self-perception — something I believe is so important to talk about, especially with the pressure of social media's unrealistic filters and impossible beauty standards. When we constantly compare ourselves to carefully curated images online, it’s easy to feel like we’re not enough — and that can hold us back from stepping into new opportunities or sharing our story.
So whether you’re refining your brand, shifting your focus, or just feeling stuck in research mode, I hope this episode encourages you to take that next step — even if it feels scary or uncertain. Because growth doesn’t happen when we wait for everything to be perfect — it happens when we choose to take action anyway.
Let’s dive in.

Life doesn’t always go as planned, and sometimes, we need to pause and honor our emotions before moving forward. Hello, welcome back to conversations with Mayi Lenz; that's me, your host! If you're new here, thank you for being here with me today!
Do you know how people say "Fake it until you make it" when you start something new? Even some of the books I read on productivity said that you can change your habits, actions, and behavior when you do this. Fake your confidence until you become more confident, act like the person you aspire to be until you become that person. Although it sounds easy, I had a big problem with that phrase. During this episode, I will let you in on a small mindset shift that has made an impact on me. I hope that it helps you, even if it makes you cringe.

This is my first solo show, yay! Just a little disclaimer I’m not a psychologist, I’m a photographer Overthinking can be a byproduct of anxiety or depression. Please seek help if you have more than just a little sadness. I listed a few resources to help you with your research.
Here is a sign you’re overthinking. Scenario #1 You went out with a friend and you are still trying to figure out how she really feels about a conversation you had 3 weeks ago. Scenario #2 Reading a simple text 20 different ways, you even give it different voices, like you are rehearsing for a play.

Having hard conversations with someone who's dealing with a life-threatening illness can be difficult. We don’t know how to express our feelings or concerns. Having lost my sister to Leukemia I can relate to the overwhelming roller coaster of emotions. But have you thought about it from their perspective? How does someone with a strong mindset make better decisions than those with a fixed mindset? What do they think about their cancer or disease? How do they view life after treatment? Do they live in fear?
My guest today has a very powerful message about her journey with cancer. We talked about her mindset during and after her treatment was done, and things she’s challenging herself with for her personal growth. Let’s dive in!
