I am celebrating my 100th podcast episode (Neuroqueering and Let Pleasure Be the Measure combined) with one of my new favorite people and the inspiration for my future work as I lean into creating cultures of neuroinclusion and accessibility. All the way from northern Ireland, welcome Jamie Shields!

Jamie Shields is a registered blind AuDHD speaker, trainer, and consultant, who works with individuals and brands, helping them make inclusive accessible change. He is also the creator of Disabled by Society.

Jamie and I talk about DEIB, including the concept of neurobelonging, an internal sense of belonging and self-acceptance.

I ask "How do we get leaders of organizations to care about disability and accessibility before it is their own lived experience?" This leads to an important conversation about power, privilege, anger, ableism, discrimination, neurodiversity, and the importance of inclusive language.

In today's "Neuroqueering" podcast, Ellie Carn (she/they), psychotherapist, and host Pasha Marlowe (she/they), marriage and family therapist and coach, explain what IFS (Internal Family Systems/"parts" work) is and why it is so effective for neurodivergent minds, especially those with ADHD and autism. Ellie begins with an overview and history of IFS then describes what the therapeutic process of parts work looks like.

Ellie shares how traditional therapy models are often pathologizing and ableist, whereas, IFS is beneficial for neurodivergent people as it is empowering, playful, guided by the client, and creates space to "meet clients where they are at". Ellie even ponders if "parts work" is, in essence, unmasking. Pasha and Ellie conclude by encouraging listeners to try many different therapists and therapy modalities.

In psychologically safe workplaces, people feel safe voicing their opinions about conflict and mistakes-without the fear of negative consequences. Leaders need to be brave-brave enough to invite open and honest feedback. Leaders need to hear what’s really going on, so dysfunctional and unhealthy patterns can be interrupted and problems can be solved.

***But only when the most vulnerable team members, those with the most intersecting marginalized identities, feel free enough to express their thoughts and feelings, is an organization psychologically safe enough for everyone to thrive.

In this episode, Pasha talks about the cultural transformation that occurs when you intend to create psychologically safe spaces. She also talks about the term "safe space" and how we can never guarantee safety for all. Finally, she offers a framework to build "psychological safety nets" through the lens of intersectionality and inclusion.

Please reach out to Pasha if you would like to hire her as a coach, consultant, or speaker at pasha@pashamarlowe.com
She looks forward to helping you.***

Part 2 of the Neuroqueering and Neurobelonging discussion

This episode provides practical tools and a complete framework for supporting neurodivergent and queer people. The skills you learn today will help ALL leaders (parents, teachers, coaches, and therapists) be neurodiversity-affirming and gender- affirming.
Pasha shares the framework that was presented at the international ADHD conference that includes intersectionality, asking, affirming, and advocating. Concepts of psychological safety, non-apparent disability, inclusive design, and safe space are explored.
Pasha states "Unless you intentionally include, you will unintentionally exclude" and encourages people to "drop the disorder" from our language.
If you want to dig deeper into the concepts of the neurodiversity paradigm, psychological safety, inclusive language, and dual stigma, please listen to Part 1, entitled "Neurobelonging and the Neurodiversity Paradigm".

Please reach out to Pasha with any questions or to discuss these concepts further at pasha@pashamarlowe.com

Join Pasha Marlowe (she/her) and Rae Nelson (they/them), a DEIB leader and Human Resources Generalist, for a vulnerable and mind-shifting conversation about microaggressions and subtle acts of exclusion.

Rae describes the 3 types of microaggressions and gives examples of each. They explain intention vs impact, implicit bias, and inclusive design through the lens of intersectionality, queerness, and non-apparent disability, and neurodiversity.

The most impactful part of the conversation was when Pasha and Rae both shared personal and vulnerable stories about their past microaggressions and how those experiences inspired their work as activists and leaders.

Leela Sinha (ze/zir) joins me today to talk about zir work with the Intensives Institute and what it means to be an intensive. I have always identified as an intense person, so the intensive framework spoke to me.

Leela shares that ze created the intensive framework because it makes people feel "less broken". So many of us intensives feel like we are "too much". We do not deal in small feelings. We are risk takers, innovators, and leaders. We go hard and come back for more. Often this causes conflict, especially in relationships, which Leela speaks to.

We end with a discussion about intensive leaders can protect their boundaries and keep laughing, even as the world around us is experiencing collective trauma.

This episode is short, but mighty! Pasha unpacks neuroqueering, neuronormativity, heteronormativity, and the current pathologizing language of neurodivergence. She talks about needing a paradigm shift, away from the pathology paradigm and towards the neurodiversity paradigm, which uses neurodiversity-affirming and strength-based language. Pasha encourages listeners to go beyond adopting less pathologizing language and make meaningful shifts in mindset and behavior. Somehow, in 9 minutes, she also works pigs and pancakes into the conversation. Hello, AuDHD!

This is a small sample of Pasha's presentation on neuroqueering, which she is presenting at the 2023 Annual ADHD Conference. To book Pasha as a speaker on neuroqueering, neurodiversity-affirming practices, or neurobelonging, please email her at pasha@pashamarlowe.com.

Jen Berlingo (she/her) is a coach, thought-leader, and best-selling author of the book "Midlife Emergence". She and I talk about how we unmask and unravel truths as we shed social, cultural, and familial layers.

Like Jen and I experienced, many women and non-binary folx are living heterofacing lives and feeling like their marriages are "fine" or "good enough on paper". The thought of leaving to explore their sexuality feels scary and, sometimes, selfish. And yet, the whispers of knowing turn into screams and they start fantasizing about the paths not taken. They want more-more truth, more connection, and more pleasure.

Jen and I discuss how coming out queer mirrors the journey of coming out neurodivergent. We dig into the language of neurodiversity and the messy middle and unpack systems of oppression. This is a revealing and empowering episode that will speak to any midlife person who is emerging through fear to the places that will set them free.

Please share with a friend and it would mean the world if you would also subscribed to and/or reviewed the podcast. Thank you.

Jillian Abby, AKA @queerabby, author of "Perfectly Queer", and I share a conversation about coming out late in life queer and/or neurodivergent, the messy middle, the words we use when we talk about divorce and diagnosis, and how coming out often feels, but is NOT selfish.
We challenge timeline narratives and social norms. According to who's time are we coming out "too late" or staying "too long" in our current relationships? According to who is this the "right way of thinking or loving"?
Jill and I share our coming out stories and we normalize how COVID, the economy, and the housing crisis complicates matters more and often extends the messy middle.
We talk about ADHD non-linear career paths and gaps in our resumes and how we hold so much shame around shifting gears and changing our minds.
I give a shout out to one of my spiritual teachers, Rob Bell, as I reframe this phenomenon and explain the consistent "threads" that we weave throughout our lives that often, in true ADHD form, take on different shapes and forms.
Finally, we discuss how it is NOT selfish to prioritize yourself! Coming out queer and even neurodivergent can FEEL selfish, and Jill and I honor the years of thoughtfulness and courage building that occur often before coming out.
Jill says "It is hard to show up as the best version of ourselves if we are wearing a mask and hiding our truth."

**Mattia Maurée (@audhdflourishing) is a disabled, non-binary, and trans AuDHD coach, hypnotherapist, writer, and composer. They discussed neuroqueering, intersectionality, depathologizing language, ableism, and PDA (rather than "pathological demand avoidance", many autistics have reclaimed this term as "persistent drive for autonomy").

We had a fascinating conversation about the harm of functioning labels for humans, and explored labeling societies as "high" or "low" functioning. Through our lens as neurodivergent and disabled entrepreneurs, we unpacked money, capitalism, psychological safety, somatic healing, and rest as resistance.

Introducing the world's best co-host for the "Neuroqueering" podcast, Sonny Jane Wise (@livedexperienceeducator and the author of the upcoming book "We are ALL Neurodiverse").

Coming to you from Australia tomorrow and Maine today, Sonny and Pasha invite you to engage in this expansive conversation on queering neuronormativity and heteronormativity and how unmasking all of our truths is a healing and revealing process. It's not just about our brains! Neurodivergence is about functioning differently from neuronormativity and social norms, not only divergent ways of thinking.

The hosts share their experiences as to when and how they unpacked their queerness and multiple neurodivergencies and how they work to reduce shame and pathologizing in both realms. This conversation also extends to dynamics around trauma, bipolar, and the gatekeeping that shows up within and around the neurodivergent community.

Favorite quote: "You can not accept how someone diverges from neuronormativity without recognizing how these norms are rooted in capitalism, ableism, and white supremacy."

Oh! And get ready for the first ever world wide Neurodivergent Pride Day in June 2023! Details to come!

Sonny Jane Wise, the Lived Experience Educator, is a multiply neurodivergent advocate and the author of their upcoming book "The Neurodivergent Umbrella". They come to us today from Australia with brilliant thoughts and feelings about the neurodiversity paradigm, the difference between neurodiversity and neurodivergence, and why neurodivergence is far more about our mindbodies and how we function than how our brains are wired.

We share ideas about reducing pathologizing language, challenging the DSM, supporting self-diagnoses, and why there should be less gatekeeping and more umbrellas with regards to the intended inclusivity of neurodivergence. Sonny shares their visions of a society that makes room for people to unmask and diverge without shame or judgement.

If you could use some Boston-style, no BS advice about how to love on your neurodivergent self, shift your mindset, and live the life you desire, have a listen to this episode with Jaime Messina, mindset and empowerment coach.

Jaime explains why and how our brains brain as they do and how their primary purpose is to keep us safe. Because our brains can't tell the difference between what we are imagining and what is happening at real time, we have the ability to shift our mindset and, in turn, shift our lives. She offers clear and playful suggestions on how to talk to our brains by naming our thoughts and parts ("name it to tame it", Jaime says). If we can talk to our brains in kinder, more positive ways, "we will feel less like shit and have more ability and desire to take action".

She challenges the limiting belief that because we are neurodivergent, mindset work will be more difficult. Grab your inner child, future self, and an energy drink and buckle up for a wicked honest and chill conversation with Jaime and I.

Pasha Marlowe, MFT, AuDHD and Neuroqueer Coach, specializes in coaching neurodivergent couples where one or both is ADHD and/or autistic. Her online program "Same Bed, Different Brains" has helped many couples move from the brink of divorce to a place of deeper understanding, acceptance, and intimacy. Pasha's coaching and teaching style is collaborative, inclusive, queer-friendly, sex and trauma informed, and often humorous.

In this "hard love" episode, Pasha reveals personal and professional insights on the impact of ADHD and RSD (Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria) on a relationship. She explores common dynamics seen in neurodivergent couples, such as the "parent-child dynamic", lying to avoid conflict and/or intimacy, fear-shame-anger spirals, and the insidious RSD cycle (trauma-people pleasing-burnout-rejection).

Pasha shares her most effective tools in managing ADHD ad RSD and reiterates that while ADHD is an explanation, not an excuse, BOTH partners have to come to the relationship with 100% effort towards understanding each other's brains.

Jessi Purdy is an activist, public speaker, and the CEO of FIC Human Resource Partners, an organization that fosters inclusive cultures through policy, training, and discussion. Her identity as a panromantic, asexual, transwoman is central to her life and work.

In this episode, Jessi and I discuss how DEI work is broadening to include intersectional identities and neurodiversity, including recognizing neurodivergent people as assets to an organization, as long as they are able to function authentically and are not confined by neurotypical standards and expectations.

Jessi offers advice to organizations on how they can use their values, guiding principles, and DEI policy (specifically equity) to create an inclusive culture. She also shares how her experiences with ADHD and chronic illness impact and inspire the way she shows up for work.

Join Pasha Marlowe, Neuroqueer Coach and Sandy Woznicki, Stress and Anxiety Coach, for a conversation on ADHD, Anxiety, and why we worry.

We talk about the correlations and differences between ADHD and anxiety and how the conditions often manifest as ruminations, intrusive thoughts, and hyperfocusing. Sandy explains how anxiety is fear based and why worrying to problem solve is not a useful strategy. She suggests strategies such as being mindful and present, changing your inner monologue, and building a habit-belief structure.

Dr. Rachel Allyn, is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in relationships and and the author of the book "The Pleasure Is All Yours". She is back on my podcast for a 2nd time, this time talking about intimacy and bodyfulness through the lens of neurodiversity.

We discussed the impact of hormones, menopause, unmasking, sensory issues, and bodyfulness on our ability to give and receive pleasure and comfort. Dr. Allyn and I share our personal stories of how menopause affected our ADHD journeys and how those challenges inspired our work.

Enjoy this beautiful and inspiring conversation about how we can queer time and have the experience of living with our natural rhythms in natural time, rather than clock time. Kai Northcott (they/them/xe/xem) helps neurodivergent professionals design their time to improve executive function. Kai has explored opposite ends of many spectrums, including that of time after an extended period of living in the outdoors. The natural cycles of each day and each year provide an 8-part model that we can use as a blueprint to design anything from staff meetings to daily pleasure practices. A perfect conversation to explore as we enter 2023, Kai asks "what do you want to let go of from this year and what do you want to grow in the coming year?"

Dr. Tarryn MacCarthy is a mom to 3 queer kids, an orthodontist, a happiness mindset coach, podcast host, and visionary. She eloquently and vulnerably shares her journey of raising and advocating for her queer children.

Just in time for the holiday season, we talk about navigating coming out and conversations about sexuality and gender with extended family, teachers, therapists, friends, partners and ourselves. Encouraging open conversations about sex, sexuality, and gender, we share tips to bringing up issues of queerness on a daily basis with curiosity, rather than shame or fear. Tarryn explores her own past subtle internalized transphobia and how her trans daughter inspired her to see the wholeness and uniqueness of every human.

Tarryn beams with pride as she shares that her children have been her greatest teachers and that there is no one way liberation. As our children continue to bravely step into their truth, we can boldly and bravely steps into our own.

Dr. Matt Zakreski (who was fortunate enough to have Maya Angelou as a professor!) is a doctor of psychology, professor, speaker, and the creator of the Neurodiversity Collective. In this episode, Dr. Matt joins me for a spirited conversation about giftedness, ableism, privilege, sex/intimacy, and the unique challenges of twice and thrice exceptional kids. Students who consistently require intensive intervention (special education) and intensive enrichment (gifted education) beyond the general classroom are traditionally referred to as 2e students. Gifted education considers other learning exceptionalities to include, but not limited to autism, ADHD, and dyslexia. The 3e model illuminates the intersectionality of giftedness with other learning exceptionalities and marginalized social categories, including queerness , and is approached using a social, emotional, and cultural lens. As Dr. Matt explains, "if you are working with the gifted and neurodivergent population, you better be prepared to deal with the queer population as well".

A spontaneous and raw solo episode packed with vulnerability and courage. This is my most personal and favorite episode yet and one that I believe will speak to midlife women who are considering "burning it all down" (systems, institutions, careers, marriages) in the name of justice, authenticity, and pleasure!

If you or someone you love has gone through deep transformation over these past years and has moved through anxiety, trauma, hormonal changes, and identity changes, this episode is for you. And if you, like me, came out recently as neurodivergent (ADHD/Autism) and queer/LGBTQIA+ and are ready to finally live OUT LOUD, aligned, and integrated, get ready to feel seen and lit up!

I always knew I wanted Eric Tivers, ADHD Rewired host, to be my first Neuroqueering guest. Eric epitomizes everything I love about the open-heartedness of neurodiverse and queer communities. We talked about how we came out as queer in our hetero-facing relationships, how we see our sexuality through the lens of our neurodivergence, and how gender feels ever fluid and evolving for us. Somehow, we ended up talking and singing like muppets. That’s neuroqueering for you! Hope you feel less alone and pee laughing listening to this episode.

Words are tools. Our language helps shape our thoughts and perceptions of ourselves and others. In this episode, we will learn how to stop pathologizing neurodivergence by embracing the neurodiversity paradigm, which states there is no “normal” or “right” style of the human brain or mind, any more than there is no “normal” or “right” ethnicity, sexuality, gender, or culture. Also, a brief introduction to what it means to neuroqueer.

**After 65 episodes and 10K downloads in 34 countries, Pasha has decided to say goodbye to the "Let Pleasure Be the Measure" podcast. Her international ADHD coaching practice has taken off and she is going to focus on serving the neurodiverse community.

In this episode, she summarizes her experiences over the last couple years and how the "Let Pleasure Be the Measure" podcast came to be. She shares updates on her son's health, marriage, sexuality, and career. It is sad to say goodbye to a passion project that brought healing and humor to so many over the past couple years.

Outside of her individual, couples, and group ADHD coaching work, Pasha plans on starting a new podcast soon called "Same Bed, Different Brains" for neurodiverse couples who want to experience live coaching. Welcome Michael Vukelic, success coach, speaker, and author of "Let Go Of the Shit Show".

Many A-ha moments here, friends.
My Aha was when Michael said "We are taking in and experiencing exactly what we want to experience." Yes, even those hard moments.

He beautifully and brilliantly teaches us in this episode:
How you can move through the world with less fear
How you can let go of the fear and find your pleasure
How the mind is reacting and creating our lives
Why we have to become stronger than our old paradigms.
How once you use the unconscious mind more often, you will feel more connected to the universe/God
Why walking in the woods helps us slow down our conscious mind and allows us to access the unconscious mind and how it is a form of self-hypnosis.
How our children inherit our traumas, fears, and limiting beliefs and how we can "cut the cord"
Why he does not fear death and how we chose the experiences we have
How we can remove the states of mind that keep us on a karmic wheel so that we can evolve to a place where you can choose how to live.
How all experiences, from a higher spiritual realm, are all beautiful experiences to expand your love, expand your wisdom, and expand your soul.

This is not your daughter's podcast!
This one is for midlife women who have been through life's SHITASTROPHIES and have come out the other side with a sense of humor and a fierce zest for life.
Get ready to laugh about death, chronic overthinking, and wordle!
And a bonus braless dance party at the end!

You are going to love Carla White! Carla is a wellness expert, a humourist (with a U since she is from Canada), and speaker. She previously worked in health care as a nurse and real life firefighter. Seriously!

Carla takes "try new things" to the next level.
She wrote and performed the one woman comedy show "Shut The F*ck Up: Confessions of An Angry Housewife".
She is the author of the best selling book "Reignite Your Spark".
And, oh, and she worked with Jack Canfield, America's leading authority on success and personal fulfillment training. In fact, Jack was the one who encouraged her to follow her passion to be a comedian.
Carla knows how to live out loud!

I asked Carla what would scare her and she said "What would scare me the most is not seeing the fear anymore. I want to be able to face the fear and do it anyway." ROAR!

We had a soulful conversation about healing with humor and how a mental health crisis was the catalyst moment that led us to comedy and how moments of our deepest grief transformed into moments of laughter. Life is a TRAUMEDY.

HANDS DOWN, my new favorite episode!
I want Meredith Steele (IG @babiesofsteele) to come to laugh and pee at my house everyday.

She's from central coastal Maine and so am I.
She likes coffee and animals and so do I.
She can't do tech and neither can I.
So, already we should be best friends, right?

But, we also share deeper connections.
We both have struggled through mental illnesses and suicidal ideation.
We both believe in releasing our truths to decrease shame.
We both get fan mail and packages.

Ok. That last part isn't true. Who wants to send me my first letter or package?
You can skip the drugs, unless they are covered in dark chocolate.

We talk about fitting in.
We talk about eyebrows and ass.
We talk about waxing and crepey labia.
So, we are pretty much girlfriends, now.

No, she's not into that, but she does know how to tell if someone is lesbian or a drug dealer by their finger nails. She's my hero.

Meredith and I laughed till we peed and snorted. I think you will too when you listen.
Actually, this is a very visual episode where you will see hair and fashion changes, petting of pussy puppets, and Meredith and I standing up with my head in her boobs, so you should grab a big Dunkin Donuts peanut butter chocolate coffee and watch it via youtube in your bathtub, but please, no toasters.
We love you and want you to shine your unique light on this world.

Please watch on youtube, subscribe, download, review....all the things. But mainly, SHARE this episode with someone who needs some healing and hilarity today.

In today's episode we are talking about relationships, parenting, divorce, dating, and sex through the lens of ADHD.

Lucky you! You get Pasha Marlowe, a Marriage and Family Therapist and ADHD coach AND Natalie Nolan, an ADHD divorce coach, in one episode!

First we share our family journeys from ADHD diagnosis and management to the demise and rebuilding of relationships. Natalie explains how ADHD affected her marriage and was one of the aspects that led to her divorce. She and I talk about the parent/child marriage dynamic, parenting, repeated relationship patterns, desire discrepancies, people pleasing tendencies, how foreplay often looks like chores, and (gulp) dating after divorce...which led to a great conversation about body shame.

We end with an empowering conversation about boundaries and standing up for ourselves.

You can find Natalie Nolan on IG @ADHDivorce

Shari Foos is a Marriage and Family Therapist and the founder of The Narrative Method.

She and I have a vulnerable and lively discussion about our shared experiences as therapists, children with trauma, storytellers, and humorists. Shari's work is fascinating and in complete alignment with my philosophy and passions. This was a thrill for me to connect with another human on such a deep level.

In this episode, you will learn about the power of a story from a new perspective. Shari first explains the difference between Narrative Therapy, Narrative Method, and Narrative Medicine, all of which are steeped in the values of storytelling, empathy, and inclusion.

We then talked about our traumatic upbringings and how we used humor to heal and how we now lead with vulnerability to connect with others.
As humans, we have a desire to be known. If we mask or armor up and never show our authentic selves, we can not be fully known or loved, and we will thus feel alone.

Share your pain and joys.
Share your shame and laughter.
Explore "Wonderland", the place inside of you where imagination lives, where you celebrate your most creative and truest self and then SHARE it with the world.

Note: There is a brief audio issue where you will hear an echo ("pussy, pussy, pussy") and feedback, but it is quickly resolved. Thank you for your understanding.
Did I mention I hate tech and fired my editor? LOL!

My guest today is Sherysse Morris, a pleasure goddess and a feminine embodiment coach. She and I begin by diving into our love of pussy-the book, of course. Pussy: A Reclamation byRegena Thomashauer unleashed something in both of us and we have both created careers around the theme of the book-pleasure. Sherysse shares how the book helped her embody the feminine after a traumatic upbringing, learning where she feels stress or pleasure in her body. Now she talks to her pussy (her personal GPS and inner knowing) when she makes a decision or asks herself what she desires. And when a "no" comes up, she makes sure it is an EMPOWERED NO...or a delighted expansive YES!

Sherysse and I share how our ideas around relationship structure and dreams have evolved over time. She describes the thrill of her new open relationship and I talk about the liberation I have organizing my refrigerator in a non-traditional way. Ok, she might be experiencing more pleasure than I am in this phase of our lives. LOL!

Sherysse guides women through a solo goddess journey and encourages them to embody the present moment, rather than worrying needlessly about the future (busted!). She focuses on trusting your inner knowing, surrendering, and the art of giving and receiving pleasure and compliments.
Me: "Sherysse, you are a gorgeous goddess."
Sherysse: "Thank you, it's true"

Nancy Shadlock is a coming out coach and the host of The Coming Out Chronicles podcast. Interestingly, her work life began as a youth pastor and spiritual director. From her conservative Christian upbringing with missionary parents to coming out at 33, Nancy shares her unique path to finding her truth in the LGBTQ+ community. She has been an important part of my own coming out story, so I can speak to Nancy's abilities to hold sacred space for our secrets and deepest knowings. My favorite take away from working with her is the need to come out by coming in, coming in to our truest selves.

In this episode, we share stories of how we lost people upon coming out and how the reactions of friends and family have changed over time. Nancy believes it is important to remember that no story is final and that we need to hold patient space for growth in others and ourselves. She holds this space beautifully and with such a calm and grounding presence. Her current group offering, the Flame Tree Collective, combines coaching with human design and archetypes so people can explore beyond coming out and realize what vocation is the best and most natural fit for them.

Tracey O'Connell, M.D. is an educator and a coach who primarily works with LGBTQ+ teens and families. She has been collaborating with Brene Brown's organization, Daring Way, and works as a Daring Way facilitator. The key components of these teachings are leading with courage, shame, vulnerability, authenticity, self-compassion, and resilience. These universal human themes provide a container for any mental health work, but are specifically useful for the LGBTQ community.

In this episode, Tracey and I talk about how LGBTQ youth are often more "woke" and aware than non-marginalized youth. "They are the wisest, most trustworthy, and inclusive kids I have ever worked with", Tracey says, "They understand how curiosity over criticism is important for all humans to practice." Tracey and I share that when we talk to the youth, and in particular the LGBTQ youth, we feel more optimistic and hopeful about the future. Tracey explains how judging others ("othering") limits the richness of a full life experience. Rather, explore curiosity over criticism.

Our conversation evolves into a discussion about suffering and how parents often sacrifice their own well-being when their children are in crisis. I share my personal story about the catalyst moment that allowed me to transform my suffering into pleasure, humor, and service. Tracey encourages us to remain open to new ideas and experiences and explains how so much of our suffering can be eased by curiosity and play.

This is an empowering, entertaining, and hilarious episode! Christine is an empty nest coach and the host of the Your Empty Nest Coach podcast. Her focus in on coaching parents before they empty nest, with the goal of the parent feeling whole on their own.
Christine is such a pleasure. She is brilliant, compassionate, and funny. Plus, she laughs at all of my jokes, so I talk WAY too much during this episode.

She and I have a heart warming conversation about how the whole family empty nests and grieves, including the pets.
I share how I ache for my adult kids to be home and try to find ways to connect via text.
Here's my best tip: Become a "Shitologist" so your kids call you when their poop looks weird.
Christina's tip, which is far more useful: Use the family pets to connect with your adult kids.
We discuss boundary setting and letting go of expectations.
We talked about how often parents who are empty nesting are also typically experiencing job and marriage transitions.
We laugh about our ADHD tendencies and how we use Tik Tok to celebrate them and laugh about them. And, yes, we know this episode was not about ADHD, but you have to see the part about the ladybugs. Seriously, this may be a fun one to watch on YouTube (link: https://youtu.be/UVHslxo00Y0)

In a rare moment when I take a breath or swallow, Christine shares her insight on important self care "Tool box" tips like "it is important we create our own narrative"
She role models beautifully ways to embrace the journey and get excited about creating your empty nest. I had so much fun talking to her, it was hard to say goodbye...just like it is when your Netflix series ends.

Enjoy this light-hearted, high-vibration, whole-hearted episode!

Lucia  Pavone  is  a pleasure instigator, permission grantor, rule breaker,  international speaker, somatic sex educator and sensuality mentor. As a modern day temple priestess, she is passionate about supporting  people to embody their sexuality, love their juicy bodies, free themselves from shame, heal sexual traumas and have a sex life worth bragging about.

This was an eye-opening conversation about breaking the cycles of ancestral pleasure and sexuality patterns, somatic sexual healing, womb space trauma, body scanning, larynx-cervix connection, pleasure activism, clitoral atrophy, magic mushrooms, and how to incorporate men into the pleasure conversation. Beyond issues of erectile dysfunction and confidence, Lucia works with men around their sexual energy, often using hands on sexual healing (yes, I asked lots of questions).
Most importantly, Lucia reminds us that pleasure is a self-love journey,  a journey to ourselves.  With or without a partner, we are whole.  Oh, and "use it or lose it", so please listen, share,  and then play:)

She is also an intuitive healer, embodiment mentor and spiritual teacher who helps women and mamas all around the globe discover their Divine Blueprint, activate their full power and recreate a life that is truly theirs. Pleasure and pain abound in this raw and empowering episode about sensuality and sobriety.

Bri and I talk about the moments on the bathroom floor when we scream "enough" to the moments where we stand naked, in our vulnerability and deepest knowing. From the dark nights of the soul to the moments when we realize we are full of wisdom and become healers.

Bri describes the brutiful journey to sobriety, from recreating boundaries in her marriage and social circle to the millions of tiny moments where where she built trust by keeping promises to herself. She shares the challenges of navigating sobriety and how we lose people as we find ourselves. Bri shares her love story with her husband as he stood by her side as she reclaimed her sense of self, sensuality, and spirituality.

In this episode, with her intuitive genius, Bri gracefully guides me (and anyone fortunate enough to listen to this episode) through the process of tuning into our bodies and giving ourselves the space and compassion to heal. Felicia Burnett is a midlife dating and relationship coach. She helps people improve their dating skills by identifying what (and who!) they are looking for and demystify the dating process so they can get off to the right start in their next relationship—without repeating the same mistakes and patterns that have frustrated them in the past.
Felicia has been single, married, and divorced, so she has a personal and professional understanding of love and loss. She went on 100 first dates to meet her latest partner and came out realizing her own part in the damaging relationship patterns of her past.
This is an expansive conversation about dating, self awareness, bisexuality, body shame, fat-phobia, and orgasms. I was intrigued by her "3 gates" of orgasms. I had NO idea there were 3 types of orgasms...and I've only made it through gate one, so I have LOTS of work to do!

I am going unscripted, unfiltered, and raw for my 50th podcast episode!

Pasha, in a rare SOLO episode, goes EVERYWHERE and leaves little unsaid.
She talks about how she is working to embrace her paradoxical, anxious, and quirky self.

Introducing the art of Kintsugi, Pasha explains how our scars and imperfections are where the light comes in and how you can reframe traumas into gifts.

She vulnerably reveals stories about her times in college, balls, sex, surgery, PTSD, self worth, parenting, cars, math, illness, play, marriage, infidelity, sexuality, body shame, self loathing, emotional eating, grief, suicide, chocolate, and hugs...oh, and ADHD.

Thank you all for listening in, for loving me, and for being uniquely YOU!

This hilarious episode, "Hakuna My Tatas", is a chance for you to feel deeply seen and, at the same time, feel like an inconspicuous fly on the wall as two bosom buddies gab about boobs, marriage, and men...but mostly boobs.
They cause all the worries!

Meet my friend Sarah Zimmerman! She is a freelance writer, author, blogger, humorist, and co-moderator of the wildly popular Untamed FB book group. She is also one of the wittiest people I know and, I brag, a graduate of my ROAR therapeutic comedy program. I'm going to pretend I helped her find her comedic voice to make myself look better.

Sarah and I babble about everything and nothing for an hour, so put some earbuds in and prepare for a conversation that will make you laugh and cry and wonder why they don't make comfy lingerie for menopausal, leaky women. You'll probably want to sign up for a boudoir photoshoot after hearing this, so dig out your oomphiest bra and do a single sit up.

Somewhere along the way, after explaining what "muck dwellers" are, Sarah puts her social worker hat on and offers some phenomenal marital advice. She encourages couples to evolve together by reading the same books (start with Untamed) and having the intention of generosity. I vulnerably over share some of the recent difficulties in my marriage and how I passive aggressively signed my husband up for a gender equality workshop so he could be an advocate like me because I'm right. Sarah sagely suggested I bring trust and humor into my partnership more. Bitch.

We talk about surgeries, including Sarah's upcoming brave breast reduction surgery, the emotional toll of wonder womanhood and motherhood, and how women show more empathy towards others than they do themselves. "Inside our heads, we think we are schmucks", Sarah says, as well as a million other nuggets of wisdom that you will just have to listen to when you subscribe, share, and 5 star review this podcast.

Most of this episode should be edited out, but I don't know how to do that yet, and I don't have a podcast team, so if you could please subscribe to the apple thingamabob and the youtube doohickey so I can get "better" guests and make enough money to afford a technical assistant, that would be awesome. Grammarly says that was a run on sentence. Sarah is right. Grammarly is a dick.

Hope this got all your nipples hard.
Hakuna my tatas, friends.

Follow Sarah at sarahzwriter.com, the Untamed FB book club, and in CA, where she now lives...but not in a creepy way, just in a "can you autograph your book and my boobs for me" kind of way.

Tracie Jae is the Quiet Rebel. She believes the world can be a better place if we focus on human to human interaction. As the Lead Rebel for the Quiet Rebel, she curates authentic, grace-filled conversations centered on difficult subjects. Her current offering is a national, growing and ongoing conversation on race and culture known as the 100 Voices Project.

In this powerful episode, we talked about a WIDE variety of topics from systemic racism and equity o marriage and divorce to bubbles and pie. Despite all the hard advocacy work we need to be doing, Tracie also reminds us to "feed the happy".

I love that Tracie can talk gracefully about bubble meditations and, in the same conversation, bravely ask questions like "would I marry me?", "what is my relationship with time and money?" and (to corporations) "why are you claiming to represent diversity and equity when you still see your neighbors as 'other'?"

And then deep conversation began and I WAS CHANGED IN REAL TIME.
Tracie said "I take issue with the word belonging.
Being a black woman, I don't want to belong to anyone or anything! I would rather belong WITH."
Let that sink in and let that change you, friends.
Of course! We want to belong WITH, not TO other humans, belong WITH, not TO corporations, and belong WITH, not TO any system. Sometimes change is about shifting one word. Incremental and organic shifts matter. One word can shift how you see an entire system. For me, today, it was WITH. Know better, do better.

Dr. Emily Wilson is a pelvic floor physical therapist and the founder of Pelvic Wisdom in Portland, Maine. She specializes in prenatal and postnatal psychology, spiritual trauma, and birth healing. Her passion is in helping women heal from the "taboo" conditions associated with the pelvic floor that our culture doesn't like to talk about.

This episode is packed with pelvic wisdom! Yes, we talk about incontinence, strengthening AND softening the pelvic floor, and how we can reclaim our pleasure (and maybe spend less time on the toilet). And we go deeper. We talk about cyclical patterns of birthing, birth stories and trauma, and cellular memories.
Emily explains beautifully how we can reframe our birth stories to take our power back.

Emily says, if you heal the matriarch in the family, you heal the family. The mother's nervous system is mirrored by the children, so it is important for mother's to take the time to nurture themselves and consider healing pelvic tension and birth traumas.

In this episode, I share about my own birth traumas, intimacy issues, and energy blocks. Did you know our uterus is our second heart and that C section scars and abdominal numbness could cause blockages that effect intimacy? I need to get that energy flowing again! Thank goodness I have Dr. Emily Wilson as my pelvic floor physical therapist...and now you can, too!

Nina Garcia is a DRAMA THERAPIST! That's a thing and I am so glad Nina is doing this powerful work.
Drama therapy offers a framework, a safe container to explore and express all of our emotions and traumas.
We had a fascinating conversation about being powered vs empowered. These ideas will challenge you (hooray for learning and unlearning!) Hint: We want more empowered responses:)
Nina and I talk trauma, PTSD, safety, identity, intimacy, mental health, stigma, and neurodiversity. She shares a personal story and why identity is particularly important for her to work and play with.
Nina asks "can we play with that?" when she wants people to engage in and lean in to conversation, especially difficult ones. Trauma wants us to avoid conversation that feels unsafe, so we need people like Nina more than ever.
The faster we work through our trauma, the less likely we are to experience PTSD and unnecessary suffering. We can take back our power and own our story.
I believe Nina is a brilliant and creative healer. This episode will open your heart, mind, and possibilities in the best of ways.

Welcome, Nicole Fevrier Davis, the psychic trainer!

Nicole and I bonded quickly. Both of us are personal trainers and mind-body fitness experts. I identify as a holistic personal trainer and Nicole as a psychic trainer. We both believe that fitness and wellness go far beyond the body, mind, and spirit as we know it. Fascinatingly, just as I seamlessly incorporate therapeutic comedy and pleasure practices into my fitness work, Nicole weaves energy healing, psychic readings, and angel messages into hers.

Nicole explains the ornate and intricate system of our soul and body connection. Through psychic readings, she integrates what she sees in people's bodies with what she sees in their soul. Nicole sees colors and images and can hear angel messages about where a client is holding onto illness or injury. She reads vibrations of her client's soul intention. She talks to guides from past ancestry that can provide client's insight into inherited trauma, entities in transition, and feedback loops. Fascinating, right?!

This is all new to me, but recent experiences have opened my eyes to the spirit world and I ready to hear more. In this episode, I share personal stories about my medical traumas, joint replacements, births, and recent house displacement. Nicole explains that we shouldn't fear what is in our subconscious and we can learn to access our own power. Nicole describes how people move away from fear and find empowerment, positivity, and joy when they learn to listen to their intuition and deepest knowing more.

We talk about weight loss and fitness goals, but we flip the script. Nicole explains how our emotions are effecting our intestinal flora, our metabolism, and our energy.
I talk about how I have been trying to reframe losing weight. I believe by midlife, we have lost enough. I don't want to lose anything else. I want to gain strength and gain enlightenment. Nicole agreed. Sometimes people do not need to lose weight, but the fears and traumas they are holding on to. We need to choose something different and more beautiful for ourselves. Especially now, we need to keep our vibrations high, as the world is suffering.
Nicole explains how science can blend with the soul and how to combine scientific research with subconscious conversations that bring divine wisdom, healing, and light.

Based on her first work "Being a Body Psychic", Nicole is working on her second book "Embodied Enlightenment", which focuses on your soul answers to the science of your weight health. I'm fairly certain she was hearing my angels when she mentioned that struggles with depression, sexuality, joint problems, inequities, and feeling safe and loved all effect weight loss. I left this conversation feeling seen, heard, known, empowered, and CURIOUS and I think you will as well!

Sarah MacLaughlin is a phenomenal friend, social worker, parent educator, and author. Her latest book, "Raising Humans With Heart", is about raising whole-hearted children from our personal heart space as adults with our unique history and lens.

In this episode, we dive into universal parenting topics, such as how to navigate boundaries, conflict resolution, self care, sexuality, inclusion, and play. I especially enjoyed Sarah's perspective on the boundary dance-how parents can set firm and kind boundaries and change our minds with authority.

We discussed how to bring more pleasure, play, and self care into our lives and the lives of our children from the lens of inclusivity and connection. Sarah offers compassionate languaging for difficult conversations around bias and sex that will speak to parents of kids of all ages.

Sarah challenges us to ask an important question in each of our interactions with our children: "Is this interaction building connection or breaking connection?"

I had the pleasure of speaking with Sandee Sgarlata, Author of "Happiness Solved", host of the "Happiness Solved" Podcast, and America's Happiness Coach. We talked about happiness, obviously, but also grief, because that's how life is.

Sandee's happiness work was inspired by trauma, which I could relate to. I find it so beautiful when we can transform pain into purpose and pleasure. Sandee shares her experience of losing her older brother when she was 12 and how her grief led her down a path of PTSD, anxiety, and drug use.

Just as I worried that pleasure was "not in the cards for me" after my traumas, Sandee shared that she did not allow herself to be happy because she was sure if she did, something else tragic would happen. We talked about our mindset, self worth, limiting beliefs, and fear and how we personally remind ourselves to fully engage in all emotions, including happiness.

And, of course, we talked about gratitude with perspective. "Our worst days are better than millions of people's best days", Sandee says. So true.

Ali Hendry is a holistic relationship coach, corporate trainer, and performer based in the UK. She currently works with womxn, especially those that identify with the LGBTQ+ community. Ali believes that when we approach life with compassion and curiosity, we cultivate happiness and holistic wellness.

We had a thoughtful conversation about inclusion, holistic philosophy, therapy, passion, jealousy, friendships, fear of abandonment, embodied emotions, and relationship contracts.

We delved into the juicy topics of jealousy, envy, and compersion and how they play out in friendships, monogamous, and non-monogamous relationships. I was particularly intrigued by the idea of romantic, non-erotic friendships. And, of course, we talked about boundaries and how important they are to establish with ourselves and others.

Ali's pronouns are she/her and she identifies as a gay woman. She has been married to a man and then to a woman. She now dates womxn (with an x – women, non-binary, trans folk) and is in an open relationship with a main partner. Jillian Bolanz is an intuitive life coach who helps women achieve a deep connection to their inner truth by living in alignment with the seasons and sabbats, the moon cycle, and divine feminine embodiment, so they can live their life in flow, not force.

This was a fascinating and empowering conversation about cyclicality, motherhood, witches, and archetypes. Turns out that I am a wise wild woman archetype (somewhere between being a mother and being a crone) so it makes sense that I would focus on pleasure and play at this time in my life! And Jillian is a mother goddess and witch! Yes, let's expand our understanding of the word "witch" and "crone" and tap into our greater wisdom.

While all of this may seem unusual or even "new agey", we are actually talking about ancient practices and celebrations long forgotten. So, really, it's like coming home to ourselves and womanhood in the most sacred of ways. I felt deeply rooted in this conversation and think Jillian will open your eyes to a part of you (your "true you") that has been waiting to be revealed and healed.

Judy is the author of "Bridge of Hope", an international speaker, and a dancing mindfulness facilitator. With her Masters in Business Administration, she also teaches Economics and Finance....but don't let that fool you, as it did me (math and I don't get along). Judy can talk money, trauma, duality, and sports in the same breath. She lights up with pleasure when we talk about vulnerability as much as she lights up when we talk about statistics. She is my favorite type of client and friend-someone willing to unpack all the shit, then repack it over and over, always remaining open to new possibilities and opportunities.
"Both, AND" is one of her favorite phrases. More of all of it, please, the pain and the pleasure, so we know we are fully living.

For someone who loves the certainty of math, Judy gracefully dives into the unknown. She constantly surprises me with her humble presentation and fierce determination to heal and learn. She is a paradox, a teacher by day and a drum playing basketball player by night. She will inspire you to lay it all on the line, listen to your knowing, fight for what you believe, charge what you are worth, be CURIOUS before you criticize (yourself and others), and find pleasure in numbers (I'm working on it:)

Enjoy this whole-hearted, vulnerable, and quietly powerful conversation.

The pleasure revolution is alive and well!
Where are you on the "aliveness" scale?
Even if you are moving through grief, trauma, or homeschooling, you are very much alive and present to your human experience. But can we create room for PLEASURE, even on difficult days? You bet!
We need to move from victimhood to pleasurehood (yes, I made up that word as a combination of pleasure and motherhood) and take our power back!

Sophie Luxton is the creator of the SPIRITUAL STRIPTEASE and has declared herself the Mistress of Epic Self Care. She breaks the "good wife" and "good mother" rules and encourages women to ask for what they want. Yes, please!

Sophie and I honor the fact that we are still in the midst of a pandemic and online learning. We recognize that life is hard right now AND we want to remind you of the pleasure practices that work, even on the shitty days. It's fascinating how simple or elaborate (your choice!) these practices can be.

Pasha shares a vulnerable story about how using the "good guest toilet paper" was the bravest thing she did to access pleasure one day. We have to set the intention to find pleasure and feel worthy of receiving it.

Sophie shares how she "used to" have a juicy, fun, and creative life and now, surrounded by laundry and dishes, she realizes how important it is to orientate ourselves to pleasure. When we do, we escape from victimhood mentality and step into our power.

Sophie desires an environment where a woman becomes highly trained to know what she likes AND what she doesn't like. It is so powerful and sexy to see a woman give an empowered yes or an empowered no.

The spiritual striptease that Sophie created uses clothing and the removal of clothing as a way of soulful expression. This practice is about a woman feeling pleasure in her own skin for herself and often by herself. She even got me to practice a little striptease (you'll have to watch on youtube to see it:), which was a huge challenge for me, but she held space for my anxieties beautifully. Her invitation to express our sensuality through movement and alchemize difficult emotions, such as rage, sounds liberating and perfect for this time.

Episode 37: "Soulful Sexual Healing"

Laura Zam, the author of "The Pleasure Plan", is a trauma professional and pleasure warrior.
The daughter of a Holocaust survivor, Laura feels the responsibility to live a full life of purpose and pleasure, in honor of those who's lives were taken from them. She married at 46, after 3 decades of searching for love and healing from past trauma and sexual abuse. She relentlessly sought out healing professionals and tried 30 different healing modalities, including an interactive masturbation workshop with the one and only pleasure educator, Betty Dodson, which she describes in exquisite detail. Her journey is a soulful and sexual one that will inspire you to seek your unique path to pleasure.

Laura talks about her experience with "goddess crones", wisdom filled women, who heal the parts of the body that have been harmed by others with their feminine energy. She inspires women to reconnect to themselves and reclaim their power and desire through her book, The Pleasure Plan and her program, The Libido Lab.

Holly Hartman is the best selling author of "I AM: How to Release the Shame of Narcissistic Abuse",  a Life Transformation and Recovery Coach, Domestic Violence Advocate, and Podcaster.

She and I talk about the importance of solo dating, having an affair with yourself, whether you are single or in partnership. Solo dating is an act of self discovery and act of heroic self love.

Like me, Holly learned to love herself from a grief place.  Our pain is our purpose.
Her catalyst moment was the experience of domestic violence.
She explains her journey to self validation and empowerment and how she intentionally and unapologetically began solo dating.

This is a soulful and rich conversation about self love, pain points, jealousy, motherhood, and pleasure. One of my favorite moments was when we talked about breaking the generational patterns of self-sacrificial motherhood.

This episode covers a broad range of topics from inherited wisdom and trauma to learning to receive pleasure. We normalize mental health issues and neurodivergence as well as interventions such as medication. Regan Figg is a Pleasurepreneur and Feminine Embodiment Coach based in Australia.
Her accent alone makes this an episode a pleasure to listen to!

Regan and I share a beautiful conversation about women in their ultimate power,  motherhood, and how to create space for pleasure and connection.  She shares the moment when she let go of outside guidance, dropped into her body, and surrendered to the pain and pleasure of birthing.  Regan mindfully creates harmony in her business and family life by being clever with her time and practicing the art of sensuality. I found myself listening intently and receiving her sage advice.

Samantha Ramsdell is a friend and a brilliant comedian/performer, recently seen on the Ellen show and followed by over 1 million Tik Tok fans. She was named "One of the top 5 internet comedians to follow" and, get this, her hometown is MAINE! But what I admire most about Sam is NOT the enormous mouth that made her rich and famous, but her enormous heart. The woman behind the mouth, who was bullied because of her mouth, that turned her greatest pain into her greatest asset. She took back her power-bravely and beautifully.

Samantha and I are kindred spirits, aligned in our purpose to bring healing through the performing arts. Her talents expands FAR beyond what she can fit in her extra large mouth.
Now doing live comedy shows and working up to a one-woman musical comedy variety show, Samantha is on a path of self discovery and empowerment.
For years, she followed a more "typical" path to business school, but was feeling more depressed and less aligned as time went on. She began to practice yoga and energy work and was listening to the advice of well-meaning friends and family. Her ego and intuition were battling each other every day. Finally, at 28, she began to tune in to her own inner voice and knowing, the one that told her to sing! And she hasn't stopped since, and thank goodness, because this woman can SING! Yes, she sings at the end of the episode.

Mollie Birney, MA, and Pasha Marlowe, MFT, talk about their journey blending therapy, coaching, and motherhood and how they bring pleasure practices into all aspects of their lives.
Between talking about babies and pancakes, this pleasurable episode made me lactate and drool. Mollie shares vulnerably, clearly, and courageously about how she met her husband in recovery, struggled with an eating disorder, and got sucked into the thought that her worth was wrapped up in her ability to produce and serve. She beautifully describes how she now brings presence and more grace into her parenting, marriage, and self care practices.
My favorite quote "Kettle corn is not a moral issue"

About Mollie Birney, MA, Clinical Coach.
Mollie has over 15 years of experience in the field of progressive personal work, wellness and addiction recovery. She comes by her specialization in Eating Disorders honestly, finding her own recovery from ass-kicking bulimia in 2007. Her clinical experience has run the gamut – counseling men and women, adults and adolescents, the motivated and the hesitant. She worked as a Therapist with groups and individuals at all levels of care including inpatient, residential and outpatient treatment programs, as a Consultant and Interventionist for families in crisis, and as a private coach for high-performing individuals seeking efficient, authentic transitions and behavioral change.

So, I did the scary and brave thing, Y’all. I asked Kelli Tennant to be on my podcast and she said YES!

Yes, this is the same Kelli Tennant who was a college athlete and famous sports reporter who covered the Lakers and Dodgers. Yes, THE Kelli Tennant of “The Kelli Show” and the “Yes, Babe” podcast. Yes. The Kelli of the IG Pleasure Channel with 31.5K followers. Yes. The one with all the sexy, half-naked photos that make you drool. Yes. Kelli Tennant who is an Intuitive Facilitator, Reiki and Hypnosis Practitioner, Women’s Circle Facilitator, and plant medicine advocate!

Good. I am glad we got that all out of the way because all I care about is the WOMAN and the SOUL that is Kelli Tennant. I honor the woman who broke free from a lineage of toxicity and found her voice and power. I adore the woman who challenges social norms and encourages other women to create their own narrative from their evolving truth. I celebrate the woman who moved from the grief of losing her mom, dad, and puppy and slowly made her way back to self-worshipping. I want to highlight the woman who is courageous and vulnerable in sharing her stories of facing her deepest fears and accessing her deepest pleasures.

And, yes, I HAD to ask Kelli about THREESOMES and how they actually work. You’re welcome.

Actually, I had a lot of questions. Here’s some that were answered in this episode:

Can you be a “good wife” if you want to explore sex with other people?
How do you find a third, a “unicorn”, anyhow? Bumble, you say?
Can your friend be your third and would that “ruin” your friendship?
Can you be monogamous AND have a threesome? Is that monogamish?
Does it matter if I don’t know how to identify? Who do labels help anyhow?
Do you have the capacity to hold space for our fears of abandonment, grief, and sexual pleasure in the same breath? Hint: yes.
Is it possible to let go of control and simply enjoy life?
How can you surrender to asking for and receiving pleasure?
How do I practice self-worship?
What about jealousy? What about our fear of abandonment?
How do you set boundaries? How do you stick to the boundaries you set?
What if you want to change your mind?
What do you do if you are stuck in a pattern of chronic pain and illness and don’t feel sexy?
What if you keep losing people and pets and the grief makes it hard to access pleasure?
Is it normal that I always think something must be wrong because something often goes wrong, so when I can’t find anything wrong, I freak out as if there is something wrong and then I freak out because I always look for something to go wrong instead of just enjoying a single fucking moment? LOL.
This is exactly how Kelli and I conversed and laughed together. It was a blast.
Just lock the door, get naked, throw the rubber duckies aside, hop in the bathtub, and listen.
Kelli herself said “Let Pleasure be the Measure” is “an Important podcast that is fucking changing people’s lives”. Aw, shucks...and thank you, it’s true.

Today’s episode is a whole-hearted conversation about trauma, infertility, and how creativity can be a surprising and pleasurable path to our healing. I certainly resonated with how creativity could feel life-saving, as my therapeutic comedy work proved more effective than decades of traditional medicine and therapy.

As a #1 bestseller author, Certified PTSD, CBT, and Fertility coach, Pantea Kalhor explains how she could conceive naturally over forty of age after over 2 years of struggling with fertility issues, unsuccessful fertility treatments, and been diagnosed with unexplained infertility. She started her research to find the root cause of her issue by learning about complementary medicine and creating a harmonic connection between mind and body. In this episode, Pantea shares stories about her PTSD and how learning to mother and nurture herself was paramount to her healing. We finish the episode with a powerful discussion about the power of visualization and manifestation.

If you have ever been to Maine, you have likely eaten lobster, a whoopie pie, and a HOLY DONUT. In today’s episode “Have Your Cake and Eat it Too”, I am thrilled to bring you the founder of the Holy Donut empire, Leigh Kellis, as she reveals her new book “The Love Diet” AND details of our collaborative pleasure retreats, starting summer 2021. This episode will make you DROOL and DESIRE!

We talk about food, sex, and love. We talk about self-worth, wanting, and wanting more. We talk about having our cake and eating it too...maybe with a donut and a cookie on the side, if it is in our pleasure, thank you very much. Red wine and an orgasm at the same time? Yes, please!

Leigh is passionate about eating. She makes it a sensual practice. When she releases her old patterns of shame and guilt, she is open to receiving pleasure from other people. She wants to encourage women to eat with gusto and passion like we are not afraid of our appetite for life.

Pasha and Leigh will be leading pleasure retreats in Maine, which will include workshops around self-worth and desire and the art of receiving, massages, pleasure portraits, scrumptious food, and spectacular coastal scenery. We will be encouraging retreat participants to give themselves full permission to indulge and to let pleasure be the measure..

Jeff Harry is an International Speaker & Positive Psychology Play Whisperer at Rediscover Your Play. He has worked with Google, Microsoft, Southwest Airlines, Adobe, the NFL, Amazon and Facebook, helping their staff to infuse more play into the day-to-day.

Jeff was selected by Engagedly as one of the Top 100 HR Influencers of 2020 for his organizational development work around addressing toxicity in the workplace. His playwork has been featured in the New York Times, AJ+, SoulPancake, the SF Chronicle, and CNN.

Jeff believes that we already have many of the answers we seek, and by simply unleashing our inner child, we can find our purpose and, in turn, help to create a better world.

This episode is filled with so much genius and magic, it is hard to summarize. I suggest you gift yourself the time to listen to Jeff’s brilliance and then pause the recording, allowing his words to touch your heart. SAVOR the wisdom and then INTEGRATE it into your life.

Here are the lessons I will most savor from our conversation:

Embrace positive psychology over toxic positivity.
Learn from the dying about how to live
Feel it all, the grief and the joy
All you need is 20 seconds of insane courage
FEAR: False Evidence Appearing Real
On the other side of all that fear, is all the magic
The OPPOSITE OF PLAY IS PERFECTION
Rather than looking for the right way, find YOUR way
Nobody knows what they are doing!
Savor the fact that you took a risk.
You can slow down time simply by watching more sunsets.
Play is any joyful act where you forget about time.
Stop chasing your worth. Your worth is in the moment, not in your productivity.
Notice if the way in which you celebrate is the way in which you cope.
I don’t care what you do for a living. Tell me what mischief you are making.
Adults are boring
The Jones’s are miserable, so stop trying keeping up with them.
Stay curious.
Affluent Deadness: people who are rich and famous and dead inside
Expectations are the thief of JOY
The Future is where the FUN is
FLOW: your zone of genius, your Ikagai.
Playing at work makes you 5x more productive (see Google's 20% play rule)
Yes, AND your meetings.
How to positively prime a meeting.
Meetings suck because they aren’t fun-engage and connect!
Know your staff’s languages of affirmation (public praise, gifts, money, acts of service)
Forced fun doesn’t work
How can it get any better than this?
No bad days, only bad moments that you ruminate over
Ask yourself: “How can it be better than this?”
In our lives we hear “NO”148K times and we only hear “YES” 8K times.
You are “SHOULD on” by adults all the time
A revolutionary rebellious act is saying: “this is ME!”
You do you, boo boo!

Emily Aborn is a content writer, the owner of the She Built This community, and a WICKED FUNNY friend.

This episode will feel like you are at a slumber party with a couple of your best girlfriends, talking about marriage, work, animals, self-care, and of course, PLEASURE. Emily talks about how she enjoys pleasure through all of her senses (especially sound), movement, and playing jeopardy.

Our conversation is also an accurate behind-the-scenes perspective of what it is like to be an entrepreneur and podcast host while learning to be our own best client. Just as we empower women to practice self-care, Emily and I continue to practice stillness and healthy daily rituals.

Emily vulnerably and courageously shares her experiences of crying on the floor of her own mattress store, hating her work, and wanting more from her life. Now that she has found pleasure in her work, she is expanding her dreams, facing her French inner critic, and standing TALL in her power.

Ari and Pasha have a lively conversation about sex and intimacy when one or both partners has ADHD. Pasha embarrassingly, and not surprisingly, overshares about her own marriage, as both she and her husband live with ADHD. Ari refers to his fascinating 2015 study on sex and ADHD and outlines key principles for great sex life.

He suggests being as intentional about your sex life as you are in your exercise routine. Keep reminding yourself, he says, that the first few sets of weights don’t necessarily feel good, but after a while, you get into it. Likewise, the best thing to enhance your sex life is to...well, keep having sex.

It all sounds so clear and easy when he explains it! Now, if I could only remember to exercise and have sex before I get too tired! Someone bring me a sticky note!
Oh, and he shared a mathematical equation about how acts of service are good for your relationship: dishwasher+laundry=sex. Indeed!

Ari Tuckman, PsyD, CST, is a certified sex therapist and psychologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD in children and adults. A prolific writer and international presenter, he recently released his fourth book on ADHD, “ADHD After Dark”. He also hosts the popular podcast "More Attention, Less Deficit'' for adults with ADHD.

Janice is one of my favorite inspirational speakers. She wears her heart on her sleeve and is so deeply in touch with her emotional body, she is often close to tears when she speaks. Janice goes directly to the places that scare her and enjoys busting through her limiting beliefs, trying radical things like working through body shame by entering a bodybuilding competition or working through her beliefs about her sense of humor by joining a comedy group.

We have a fascinating conversation about competition, comparison, people-pleasing, trauma responses, and female friendships. We laugh about how neither of us is any good at small talk, even with new friends. What is the last thing on Earth you’d want to talk about? Cool. Let’s talk about that!

Janice says to let fear rest on the sidelines, pick yourself for your own team, step up to the bat, and play your own game. When you play full out, that is fulfillment and pleasure.

No more playing small!

She reveals secrets about her recent coming out process and her new book “My Next Husband Will be a Lesbian”. While sharing radical truths is empowering and liberating, it is also vulnerable, courageous, and terrifying. Despite it all, Pasha is ready to expose the “messy middle” as she reads the first chapter of her book, a personal account of her sexual revelations.

If lines like “fantasies of scissoring plague me” freak you out, you may not want to listen to or watch this episode.

No, we take that back. “Do the thing that scares you most”, Pasha says, “that’s where the growth and magic happens”. Go ahead and listen and, if it shocks you, notice why.
Open your mind to possibilities and pleasure beyond measure.

At the end of the episode, Pasha shares her many offerings, including her therapeutic comedy work and 1:1 coaching opportunities.

Available on amazon, “My Next Husband Will be a Lesbian”

Jo Visser is a perimenopause/menopause coach and a comedian who enjoys wearing f*ck you boots and matching knickers (she’s so proper). This episode is a hootenanny!
Jo and I basically normalize everything uncomfortable, odd, and gross about being a menopausal woman in this juicy conversation.

We laugh our asses off about sex (and the lack thereof), anxiety, and incontinence.
We talk about being less apologetic and more inclusive.
We talk about embracing our flaws and celebrating our worthiness.
You WILL feel a sense of relief, empowerment, and belonging after hearing this episode.

Lori Varsames, Personal and Professional Coach, lives a life of pleasure and adventure in Sonoma, CA. I basically drooled throughout this podcast as she talked about her beautiful home, her partner (who is an adventure guide!), and her experiences in Italy, France (as a bicycle guide!), and New Mexico. Lori is embracing midlife in the time of a pandemic with a sense of deep curiosity and gratitude. She is exploring the Italian language, horticulture, cooking, slow eating, and savoring wine. Life is a feast, after all! Eat.PLAY...Love!

Lori defines pleasure as “living into your joy” and doing the things that scare you. She loves living out loud and coaching women who are ready to step outside of social and cultural constructs. Don’t tell Lori you are “too busy” for pleasure. She will call you on that sh*t and interrupt those limiting beliefs promptly.

Lori Varsames came to life coaching after a 10-year career in artisan wine sales and a 10-year career in content marketing, having lived throughout the United States and in France. After having spent 20 years telling other people’s inspiring stories, she vowed to empower people to craft their own—particularly in midlife when they think their stories have already been written in stone. As an advocate of adventure, Lori now empowers clients to transform their midlife malaise into midlife masterpieces, challenging them to live courageously into their full purpose. She lives in Sonoma, California with her husband, who is, go figure, an adventure travel guide.

Meredith Richardson, whose story was featured in Newsweek, is a midlife empowerment coach who used to work as a mediator. She talks about her catalyst moment, a terrifying attack and attempted kidnapping, and how she was able to bring her attacker to justice. After the attack, she divorced, left the country to wander the world, write a memoir, learn new languages, and create a new career for herself. To describe Meredith as empowering is an understatement!

We talk about how to bring pleasure into our days, even when we are often triggered by past traumas. We go deep into triggers, boundary setting, and how to navigate our relationships from a place of trauma sensitivity. If you are in the midst of change, being called to transform your life, or move out of your comfort zone, and especially if you are a healer yourself, this episode is for you! Learn how to save the one life you can save, your own.

What didn’t we talk about? We both have ADHD superpowers, after all.

Enjoy this conversation about moving, creating space, meeting new friends, sticky notes, and anything NEW! We talk about letting go of shame about medications, learning abilities, and the way our brain works. Let’s learn to celebrate our uniqueness! Of course, there are different ways that ADHD presents, so it is important to note how it affects our relationships and social/sexual lives.

My favorite part of the conversation is when we talk about using play to treat trauma and perfectionism and how to lead with laughter. Kirsten speaks about finding pleasure in our quirks and what makes us diverse and creative geniuses.

She gives a shout out to the brilliant works of Brian Sutton-Smith, Ari Tuckman and Gary Ware.

Kirsten is a psychologist who lives in Maine and Tennessee. She has 20 years of experience in the mental health and coaching fields and is the author of the book “PlayDHD”. She is a certified ADHD coach and has ADHD herself. She has developed the World of ADHD, a campaign celebrating ADHD creatives. Kirsten believes that play is the best non-medication intervention for people with ADHD and I whole-heartedly agree!

Pasha’s first episode is raw and vulnerable. She explains why laughter through tears is her favorite emotion and her painful catalyst moment is revealed. She bravely shares details of her son’s chronic illness and how behind the scenes of the pleasure podcast is often quite messy and dark. She talks about how to sprinkle pleasure on even the hardest of days and describes her own personal pleasure practices (no, it is NOT yoga, baths, and masturbation). She shares the secret of why she was sad AND glad the pandemic happened when it did.

Pasha tells the secrets of how play and humor can make you a better leader, parent, and lover and help rejuvenate your mind and body (thus one of the best ways to make money, lose weight, and have better sex!). She explains how to learn to play with yourself and enjoy your own company...and have fun already!

From her times as a professional performer, competitive triathlete, marriage and family therapist, holistic trainer, and now midlife laughter and pleasure coach, Pasha has decades of experience healing people using creative and embodied methods. Pasha is moved to tears and laughter in this episode where she invites you into her heart and speaks directly to those of you who are hurting right now who need a unique way to access pleasure and laughter.

“STAND TALL, TITS OUT”

Rachelle Ugalde, host of “Real Talk” podcast, Life and Success Coach, and mother of 3 joins me for a whole-hearted conversation about vulnerability, visibility, and body shame.

Rachelle bravely tells the story of her struggle with anxiety and depression, including fears of losing her mind. At her moment of deepest despair, she reached out to her husband and asked for help.

She reminds us that no matter how gorgeous we are or how “perfect” our life appears, we can still be struggling and we must ask for help and find ways to share our stories of truth.

“The older I get, the less shits I give. It is such an inner job”” is one of my favorite quotes from this episode. And yet, body shame still haunts her.

Rachelle is a goddess and yet, at 5’9 and full of curves, she still plays small and tries to shrink to “fit in” or feel “more feminine”. She accepted a challenge to embrace her size and stand tall with tits out at an upcoming retreat and every day after. I have no doubt she will conquer those limiting beliefs and come to a place of deeper self-love and liberation!

“I am scared” Rachelle says, “and because I am scared, I know I need to do something.”

I begin this episode by courageously reading from my personal diary about the day Libby inspired me to release years of body shame. We talk about the impact of one woman’s self approval and how a simple act of brave visibility can liberate many. We laugh about how alike we are in finding pleasure in things that both thrill and terrify us.

“We teach best what we need most”, says Libby, who works in feminine leadership, and is working on becoming certified as an erotic blueprint coach and Jedi Sex Master. She has a superpower of being present in intuition and “dropping right into people and seeing the real story”. Libby brings pleasure, sensuality, and flirtiness into her work and empowers other women to do the same. We spend some time crushing and swooning over our coaches Megan Jo Wilson (Rockstar Camp) and Mama Gena (School for Womanly Arts) and honor their work.

Libby is a highly accomplished independent consultant in the global online business world with Arbonne and her passion is to strengthen the lives of women in her local community and beyond. Raised in a quintessential Maine coastal town, Libby always did “whatever it took” to make a living and get the job done. Before a career in social marketing, she did everything from manual labor to freelance writing. A brief stint in a toxic, patriarchal, corporate work environment propelled Libby to pursue an MS in Clinical Psychology which ultimately led to her work in feminist leadership development with like-minded, independent and irreverent women. When she isn't cheering women on, you can find her traveling with her Hebrew Hunk, Paul, singing karaoke, or in deep surrender to the abyss that is the journey of healing.

Kim Ward is a master-level transformation coach, published author, and extraordinarily compassionate and hilarious human. This episode is “pee in your pants” funny and “take your breath away” heartbreaking. You will feel like you are in the room laughing and crying with us. Kim is “filterless” and fearless, which I adore.

You will be inspired by vulnerable conversations about leadership, playing small, death, suicide, sex, and humor. You will also hear about goat vaginas, so enjoy that uproarious bit. Kim is raw, wild, and authentic, just as you would expect a goat gynecologist to be!

Joli is a mom of 7, has a PhD in Depth Psychology and works as a research psychologist, sex educator, and relationship coach. Her Ted Talk “The Opposite of Jealousy” is a must watch.

What a fascinating conversation this was!

Joli talked about how when we liberate pleasure, we can liberate ourselves from systems of oppression. She talks openly about her non-monogomous relationship and straight privilege. I shared my path, recently coming out as bisexual, which lead to a powerful conversation about shame and our willingness to be witnessed. My favorite part was learning about what compersion is and how we can all attain it.

Joli is more interested in growth than comfort and it shows. This episode is expansive!

Got kids and some unresolved shame of your own?
Did you know that 75% of children wish they could talk to their parents about sex?
Do you need some guidance on how to hold space for “taboo” conversations?
Well, drop everything and listen to this podcast.

Jennifer Wiessner is a widely sought-after sex therapist and I was so fortunate to have her on my podcast where she shared decades of wisdom about raising sexually healthy children. Her mission is to reduce shame, bring sexuality out of the darkness, and encourage parents to talk to their kids about sex and sexuality.

Jennifer offers practical advice in this episode and answers some burning questions like “when and where is the best time to talk to my kids about sex?” and “should I buy my daughter a vibrator?” and “what do I do if I catch my child masturbating?”. She presents calmly and clearly and brilliantly holds space for expansive and often difficult conversations.

This was an expansive conversation with Angela Locashio, Clinical Sexologist. She and I have the unique perspective of life in the military (Angela a current military wife, Pasha prior in her first marriage) and other constructs that hold us back from full expression of self. We talk about moving through the stress cycle to prevent illness and pain, pleasure “taboos”, and the idea that you can’t have pleasure in the bedroom if you can’t find pleasure outside of the bedroom.

THIS IS A BIG MOMENT FOR ME!
MEGAN JO WILSON IS ON MY PODCAST!

If anyone is curious how I became so empowered and brave, listen to this episode and meet MY PERSONAL COACH, Megan Jo Wilson. She is a phenomenal coach, a brilliant musician, a fierce mama, and a dear friend. She is the CEO of Megan Jo Wilson’s Rockstar Camp (which I am a graduate of, I brag), the leader of the No More Playing Small challenge (which I kicked ass in, I also brag), and the author of “Who the Fuck am I to be a Coach?” and “Who the Fuck am I to be a Rockstar”. Both must reads! Megan Jo also has a new book coming out soon called “No More Playing Small”, which I predict will be an instant bestseller.

Seriously, I can’t think of anyone I would rather have on my podcast than Megan Jo Wilson. She is inspiring, liberating, and revolutionary. She changed my life and made me a better woman and coach. I gush all over her during this episode, and, as always, Megan Jo holds space for all of the big emotions. We talk about trauma, suicide, being seen, taking risks, embodying our emotions, holding each other in sisterhood, and what still scares the shit out of her-you will NEVER guess what she said!

I feel so...honored, giddy, and complete after this podcast. I hope you enjoy it, too!
