Hello and welcome to the first episode of the second season of the Gentleman Nama, the podcast for everyday extraordinary gentlemen. And Happy New Year! Now I realize that between the last episode of the first season and this one there has been quite some time. in fact the in-between, apart from managing the existential and the mundaness of survival was spent in thoughts my own and those around, soaking up experiences and in turn weaving them into stories that we all have either experienced first hand or have crossed our head sometime. A few of them were carefully thought through and penned down narratives while a lot of them emerged as an abstract thought maybe when I was sipping my morning tea in the garden and then metamorphosed into written words. this season will be about those stories. Either ways at the end of each story I would like to leave you with a thought and would want to know your perspectives.Today's story is about a Dragonfly and his shard of Light...
Happy Listening and I will await your thoughts here or on gentlemannama@gmail.com
Today's episode is unfiltered, unedited and extempore. Once in a while let's dial down our nerves and let it flow. Reminder- one more episode to concluding season 1. Stay tuned for season 2 as I sit down with friends and allys for a conversation.
What should we talk about today? Umm…let’s talk about something that we all are perhaps aware of theoretically or in practice, some of us indulge or avoid it intentionally, several of us might be looking at it sceptically when it comes to the professional space. But all of us subconsciously give into it.
The Echo Box.
Chat GPT just texted back that is a metaphorical term used to describe an environment where a person or group's beliefs and ideas are amplified and reinforced by only being exposed to information that confirms their pre-existing views. Let me simplify, it just means you are exposed to only things that you want to hear and discuss or agree with.
So how do you manage your echo? Tell me about it, am all ears…do you discuss, debate and rationalize enough or somewhere still what you think holds right carries on...Listen on and if you have any thoughts to share, something to discuss, know that I am just an email away. Today what I intend to talk about is a phenomenon that all us have gone through, maybe going through or in some cases snapped it already. The proverbial rubber bands. At the cost of repeating and reiterating what I have perhaps said earlier, we are all engineered for the carpet syndrome. Adopt the path of least resistance and shove rest else under the carpet. Some of us, and glad more of us are getting vocal about issues about areas of dialogue. But everything said somewhere deep down we are overwhelmed by everything around us, most of us our own selves and stretching the rubber band and stretching it thinner.
What is your rubber band looking like? Let's talk and do a status check. As your listen through, if you have any thoughts to share, something to discuss, know that I am just an email away. Reach me out at gentlemannama@gmail.com
As men we tend to be little extreme with our gestures and forego the charms of subtility. Not to mention that while on one side we have not quite let go of old school chivalry ang graces while interacting with others, on the other side we have become a bit too much direct, a bit too much objective and way too much cut and dry with our fellow men. Add to that the entire spectrum of gender and orientation diversity within our own selves, we act tone deaf at times and at others use language, expression, humour or anything else that is just not quite it. Is there something we can do about it? Listen on...
So…suffocation…that phase when you want to growl and rumble and shout calling out everyone and everything because nothing seems to be working out. And we keep syncing into its cycle. But how to break the spell and emerge in your true power. Listen on...
This episode is a continuation from episode 3 and we are still chatting about Holding Back!
Remember – That moment when we create a glass wall of perception between our sensory and rest else in the world. This time the focus is on holding back ourselves back from expressing or putting things across. Every time we passively or actively hold back our thoughts from expressing into written words we are losing out an opportunity to speak up
In this episode, we are going to talk about Holding Back! That moment when we create a glass wall of perception between our sensory and rest else in the world. So, what are these experiences that we do not want to hold back absorbing in? Out-worldly AI enabled sensorial treats, or some form of world view available only to those who have explored further afield? Not really. These are everyday sights, voices, smells, touch that we experience and that can be soaked in. There is something for us in each of these tangible and intangible forms.Btw, if you have any thoughts to share, something to discuss, know that I am just an email away. The moment I even uttered the word midlife, the first thing that probably came to mind was midlife crisis. Well, crisis or not, midlife is that juncture, where you feel adulting has overstayed its welcome and yet you are too early to hang up the boots. But how do we deal with it, what needs to stop getting normalized and what needs to be accepted? Listen on as I share my two cents!
Thank you for choosing to listen to this podcast when I know you have so many other better and engaging choices. I value it! Welcome to the first episode of my Podcast, Gentlemen Nama. Today’s episode is a little bit of introduction about me, and a huge deal about the podcast - This is for us my brother, you, me and every other average man who needs a voice. My attempt will be to talk about things we usually brush under the carpet or put in the least priority. So what say - let's begin?
