What is a People Initiative? Any activity by the organization that is designed to activate its people toward a goal.
Growth. Innovation. Retention. Customer service. Operational excellence.
But how do we get through the noise? Avalanche of notifications. Stress. Anxiety. We are overwhelmed.
Is it time for People Leaders to think like marketers? Let's ask authors, speakers & practitioners what is The Future of People Initiatives.

To learn more about Yasmeen Duncan, Chief People Officer @ Magnolia Bakery: https://www.linkedin.com/in/yasmeenduncan/ Excerpt from the episode: "Absolutely. I mean, initially, when you hear marketing, everyone knows that marketing is trying to get the external customer excited, and engaged to purchase a product or whatever it is that they're trying to sell. But what happens to the internal employee? Right. And in HR, we're constantly trying to do all the things, whether it's initiatives, administration, the list goes on and on. But who is marketing to the internal employees in the same to keep them engaged, to ensure that they are on board for the initiatives, they're enrolling in the benefits and all the things. It's interesting when you pull statistics and look at even enrollment rates for companies, they're not as high, especially for benefit offerings that for instance are like perks. Say if you have like a city bike perk or a childcare benefit perk or... tuition reimbursement benefit per the list goes on and on. But do we have low enrollment in our benefits? Could it be because employees do not know that we have these benefits, that we have the perks that we have? Possibly, and statistics show that this is true. If we had an internal marketer, if the chief people officer functioned and positioned themselves to be the internal marketer for the employees to ensure that yes, employees are communicated to. and know what the offerings are, right? But also to engage them in having an even richer employee experience, how much more impactful could we function and could we be as an HR department, as HR leaders? And this conversation was so impactful for me. I took it to the next step of, okay, how do I reposition how I'm functioning in my organization? What should I be doing if the future of HR is being the internal CMO. What does that look like? What are my behaviors? How am I being represented online? What kind of things am I talking about? What should I be even engaging in conversation internally? And what initiative should I put in place to draw employees forward? And I think that functioning as a CMO, it also helps with recruitment and trying to get top talent."

The average person spends 1/3 of their life at work. That is 90,000 hours of time. Regardless of title or tenure, when it comes to our careers we all desire one thing. Joy. ā¤ļø Yes, joy. Without joy, $$$ is hollow, titles have less impact, and purpose has little value. Over the past year, we set out on a mission to define joy in the workplace and to figure out a way to replicate it for anyone who wants to buy this magic elixir. We launched a podcast titled āThe Future of People Initiativesā, interviewed over 400 executives from every business sector, sent 10,000 emails to ignite dialogue, and broadcast 70 episodes of some of the most innovative minds in the People and Marketing space.
