The Power of Story Telling - I am a fan and a passionate advocate for storytelling.

For me, storytelling gives me the opportunity to learn from another person's experience and the story also can empower, inspire, motivate, challenge, and strengthen my opinions, my views, my perspective, my values, and beliefs!

When I am listening to a person tell their story I consume the message and meaning so deeply that at times it can be a life-changing experience!

The story in this podcast told by Angelina and Ania was one of those stories that for me, was life-changing!

I need to set the scene for you as to how I came across this story and why I believe it needs to be told and shared.

Monday, February 28th

Ania is a colleague and last Monday like every other Monday I walked into the office and said:

"Hi, Ania how was your weekend?"

Her reply was:

" I had a terrible, emotional, amazing, and life-changing weekend with very little sleep and I feel great!

Not a response I was expecting!

Then of course I sat her down and she told me her story!

Two hours later I am saying to Ania this story needs to be shared and we need to talk to Angelina!

So, this podcast is the story of Ania and Angelina - how they connected and what they did to help Angelina's sister Lera escape the city of Krivoy Rog as Russia began its invasion of Ukraine.

Angelina and Ania did not know each other on Friday morning February 25th, 2022 however by Sunday, February 27th they became Sisters whose friendship will continue for many years.

The story begins with a text message from Ania's son's Spanish teacher Dafne on Friday 25th February at 2.30 pm.

Dafne tells Ania in her text that she has been asked via WhatsApp if she knew of anyone in Poland that could help a young Ukrainian woman fleeing Krivoy Rog. The only person she knew was Ania and the story unfolds from there...

For me, the story that Ania and Angelina shared gives me great hope in the power of women, connections, and taking action.

Even though I wasn't involved in this story, just by listening to the story my frustration, fear, and feelings of helplessness about the situation in Ukraine faded away a little bit.
