The expectation of God’s saving Messiah was first prophesied at the fall of Adam and Eve and then is spoken of throughout the Old Testament. In Exodus God speaks to Moses and gives him the charge to bring His people out of slavery so that they can worship him. We then see an epic series of events that leads to the deliverance of Israel from slavery to Pharaoh. Contained in the Exodus of Israel is the foreshadow of the final “exodus” of all people from slavery to sin through the salvation of Jesus. We have the opportunity to celebrate Passover as Christians through the lens of God's promise being fulfilled in the death of the final Passover lamb, Jesus.

Jesus is shaking up the church and turning over the tables of hypocrisy in our hearts and thus in the church at large. This is a season of reform that will bring purity in the church so that we can become who we really are as the people of God.

We are on the edge of the next Great Awakening. God's plan will prevail but we get to decide if we will be included in what he wants to do on the Earth. God is calling the church to maturity so that we can accomplish our purpose in this generation.

There can be a temptation in modern culture to create a Jesus that looks appealing to us; a savior that's easier to worship because we've designed Him ourselves. The Israelites designed a savior that made sense to them, only to end up in full blown idolatry only a few verses later. We are invited to receive Jesus and to worship Him as He is. It's only in seeing Him correctly that we can rightly see ourselves.

What does it mean to be human? What if the question we need to ask ourselves is more about who are called to "be" instead of what am I called to "do"? As Christians what we do is meant to flow from who we are.

The introduction of sin has affected all aspects of creation from humanity to the earth itself. Jesus was the first of a new kind of human. As "ones like him" we have the assignment and privilege of bringing his redemption to everything around us as a first calling and first priority. This message was preached at our Combined Service by Lead Pastor Rhema Trayner.
