May Saengpraseuth Alirad is the Executive Director with the Lao-American Organization of Elgin, a nonprofit organization. In addition to being the executive director, she has been a school social worker with Chicago Public Schools for the past fourteen years. She resettled with her family in Elgin in 1989 from the country of Laos.
Growing up in Elgin, she graduated from Elgin High School and Elgin Community College (AA). She furthered her education at the University of Illinois at Springfield (UIS) with a BA in Psychology and then went on to receive her Masters in Social Worker from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).
May is a community activist, community leader, philanthropist, business owner, and author. She wrote a book to empower fellow female survivors of sexual assault to find their voice and take control of their life. Her book will launch on Tuesday, April 27th, in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and the ebook will be free for three days. May wants to get this life-changing book out to as many people as possible.

Raymond Gant has worked in education for more than 30 years in a variety of capacities. He is the founder of the Office of Minority Student Affairs at Ferris State University. In this role, he established numerous scholarships; facilitated racial sensitivity training; developed a variety of campus-wide initiatives and activities while serving as the key voice and resource on education and diversity-related issues. Concurrent with that responsibility he was Assistant to The President of the University.
In 2006 he accepted the position of Vice President of Communications and Marketing for a charter school management company based in East Lansing, Michigan. In this role, he was responsible for developing marketing and recruitment strategies for more than 50 schools. He served as Regional Vice President where he oversaw the entire operation of schools in the Mid-west region of the United States. In addition, he also held the position of elementary and middle school principal for a school located in south-west Michigan.
Mr. Gant is the author of “Leading Shadows”, a book that details African American student experience at Ferris State University between 1905-2005. His most significant accomplishment is having raised 7 children, six of which have earned degrees. As a dynamic speaker and motivator, he is frequently sought out to train on topics of leadership, education, and diversity.

In Politics: Omari served as a top Legislative researcher, writer, aide for the Detroit City Council. In addition he has authored many resolutions that have been converted into citywide and statewide legislation/actions. In 2006 Omari waged a campaign as candidate for State Representative in the State of Michigan. Currently he manages one of Michigan's top 3 electorate phone canvassing team for Michigan Liberation and Michigan Liberation Action Fund.
Omari, a founding board member of SASHA Center, is also the lead male facilitator for the organization is tasked with educating men and boys about the very serious realities of gender based violence, anti-women and rape culture, and to provide bystander intervention strategies via training.
As a facilitator, speaker and trainer, Omari has provided services to colleges, non-profit teams, school staff members and students across the country, earning him the Ava Rogers Award in 2016 (presented at Take Back The Night, Detroit) and SASHA Center’s “Community Engagement Award.”

Stephen Jackson a Restorative Justice practitioner with over 10 years of experience. Mychal Mitchell, CEO and independent film producer of North Shore Films from Natchez, MS and currently resides in the Chicago area. Mychal has produced and directing films since 2008, with his first featured film release, "Princess of Laos", in 2012.
Mychal has produced, directed and featured actor and experienced in sound design for many short films in fashion, promotional and city highlight films. Mychal is a self taught entrepreneur and continues to build his portfolio in the film industry.
As a producer, Mychal enjoys taking a script and bringing it to life. It is something that the an entire family enjoys doing together. Mychal hopes to get his next major project "The Natchez Rhythm Club Fire" into the hands of a major production company to produce and launch for 2021.
Mychal is married to his lovely wife, Joanna, with two children who often assist with production. Mychal is inspired by his wife's Laotian roots as he diligently works on completing his latest project "The Lao Redemption" movie. The goal is for the movie to be released on Netflix.
The Lao Redemption Movie is a heartfelt movie. The United States government allocated 90 million dollars to Laos to remove unexploded bombs. This drama fiction movie explores a fictional scenario how this was done.

She received her Juris Doctor degree from Northern Illinois University College of Law. Ms. Chanthaboury maintains a general practice, with a concentration in Real Estates, Estate Planning, and Immigration.
Ms. Chanthaboury is a member of a number of professional organizations, including American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Kane County Bar Association, and the Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association. She also lends her legal services to underprivileged communities by volunteering with Prairie State Legal Services.
Ms. Chanthaboury is bilingual. She is fluent in English and Laos. Being a naturalized immigrant herself she has personal knowledge and experience on how to navigate the immigration process.
