It´s a fact that technology changes the way we live, how we access information, and how we interact with others. It has also changed our character by making us impatient people.

Dealing with technology is one of the most challenging topics to manage in parenting. To talk about how we can safely lead our kids to use technology as a tool and not a toy, Kevin East interviews Dr. Kathy Koch, President and founder of a Ministry called Celebrate Kids, to reflect on technology and kids.

Dr. Kathy speaks about the lies that technology teaches our kids and how to counter those lies with biblical truths and helpful practices. Dr. Kathy reflects on a question that many parents have in their heads: when is an appropriate time to give my kids a phone or a device? She also talks about video games and how to have a meaningful conversation with your child.

Jesus was purposeful.  All He cared about was His Father and building the kingdom. That’s why Jesus mentored in a group and modeled His faith transparently during His earthly ministry.  At Radical Mentoring,  men and ladies are learning how to mentor exactly like Jesus did.  When we think “discipleship” we are often intimidated by a perception of a need to teach.  But “mentorship” is an available, real, raw authenticity that anyone can make available to those at home, work, and church.

As we’re following Jesus, we are submitting our hearts and lives to Him. Your job is to promote Jesus in every facet of life. God decides when to promote you in those facets of life. Episode:

Frosty, Rudolph, Santa and Jesus can often get thrown into a blender in the westernized Christmas season. So, as parents, how do we lead our kids in following Jesus? Current reports indicate the age of skepticism is between 10 and 17 years old in today’s generation of young people, deciding that Christianity is not true. Parents must be committed to leading the next generation to Christ, but how can they without the proper tools? In today’s episode with J. Warner Wallace, we take a look at a cold-case detective's case for Christ. The story of Jesus is true, and today’s guest can prove it.

Guest Bio:

J. Warner Wallace is a Dateline featured cold-case homicide detective, popular national speaker and best-selling author. He continues to consult on cold-case investigations while serving as a Senior Fellow at the Colson Center for Christian Worldview. He is also an adjunct professor of apologetics at Talbot School of Theology (Biola University) and Southern Evangelical Seminary, and a faculty member at Summit Ministries. J. Warner became a Christ-follower at the age of thirty-five after investigating the claims of the New Testament gospels using his skill set as a detective. He eventually earned a Master’s Degree in Theological Studies from Gateway Seminary.

Warner has appeared on television and radio, explaining the role that evidence plays in the Christian definition of “faith” and defending the historicity of Jesus, the reliability of the Bible and the truth of the Christian worldview. Jim also speaks at churches, retreats and camps as he seeks to help people become confident Christian case makers. J. Warner’s book, Cold-Case Christianity, provides readers with ten principles of cold case investigations and utilizes these principles to examine the reliability of the gospel eyewitness accounts. In God’s Crime Scene, he investigates eight pieces of evidence in the universe to make the case for God’s existence. In Forensic Faith, J. Warner makes the case for a more reasonable, evidential Christian faith.

Chrystal Evans Hurst joins Kevin in her relational communications style to talk about growing up in a famous Christian family. Her well-known father, Dr. Tony Evans, and mother looked at Chrystal and each of her siblings with an eye towards their giftings and how God could use each of them individually with their unique talents and skillsets.

Chrystal shares what it means to be an integrator, and how her love of music, women’s ministry, and helping in practical ways shows her love for God and love for people. She answers questions like what does it look like to be a woman God can use in practical everyday ways? And what does God say about a woman’s value, whether she’s single or married? And how does she balance the demands of life while pursuing a heart that loves Jesus and a life that honors Him?

Co-written with Dr. Tony Evans, Chrystal describes her first book “Kingdom Woman” as Real Life meets Dallas Theological Seminary.

Throughout the podcast, Chrystal talks eloquently about the different seasons of a woman’s life: life at work, life at home, seasons of rearing children, supporting a spouse, caring for elderly parents, etc. and the mistake many women make by trying to do and be everything at the same time.

Chrystal shares thoughts on her book “She’s Still There” of how God moved her from a season of personal pain to discovering the girl God called Chrystal to be. She gives a clear clarion call to honesty about who you really are the need to recalibrate when you get off track. Things get personal when Kevin asks about the role fathers can have in the lives of their daughters.

Towards the end of the podcast, Kevin asks Chrystal some real-life questions about his role as a white father of a black daughter. Chrystal hits it out of the park with her thoughtful answer as to some of the things Kevin is doing well and some things he could do better.

Today’s episode will encourage you to take a fresh look at your life and see who God has made you be, where you are, and how you can make course corrections to get to where He wants you to be.

Today on the podcast, author, speaker, and pastor Dr. Andrew Farley joins Kevin for an authentic conversation about grace, the gospel, and how we view ourselves.

How do you define excellence in the workplace? We want to make our ministries, businesses, and departments places of excellence. Excellence honors God and inspires people.    In the 1988 film “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”, there is a scene where the detective bumps the cartoon Roger Rabbit against a hanging lamp. The lamp begins to swing back and forth. The animators went the extra mile, involving hours of work, to make sure that the shadows made by the now swinging lamp were as accurate on the cartoon character as in the live-action.  The catch? Only 2% of the population ever realizes the extra effort made by the animators.   “Bump the Lamp “ has now become a phrase to indicate someone going above and beyond even if it won’t be recognized or appreciated. How can we best lead our teams of people to aim for the 2% and help our teams “bump the lamp“? Listen to Kevin give 3 ways that this idea helps us achieve excellence.

So many of us struggle to find our true identity today. We search for many different avenues to feel valued, loved, and complete.

Back in the Garden of Eden, we lost our identity. We seek to find value through achievement or by binding ourselves to anything we think will give us significance or acceptance.

But Jesus is the Good News. Through him, we got placed back in the economy of the garden. We no longer need to achieve, but instead, we get to receive at the moment of salvation.

If we receive our righteous identity, we receive an abundance of grace. Jesus Christ transforms us.

Romans 5:17 NLT "For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God's wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.".
