LISTEN UP MAMA! This is a TOUGH-LOVE voice of reality and reason for stay-at-home moms (SAHM's) who want to improve their lives! In this podcast, I'll say the things you NEED to hear, not what you want. This is for the mamas who want to live a fulfilled life, find value in their role, and understand their worth as a full-time mother. I want you to be the BEST version of yourself, to best raise the future generation. I bring you quality conversations focused on practical and approachable tips, tools, and resources that will help you in your role at home. I bring you two episodes each week, with conversations from myself as well as guests who take conversations deeper with their personal experiences, expert knowledge, and everyday approaches. Mom: In-Process is an understanding of the fluidity of motherhood. We are always changing, always growing.

In this episode, I want to remind everyone that SAHM life truly isn’t glamorous. It is frustrating, disgusting, overwhelming, and challenging every single day. You’re saying “yes” to so much more than the “fun” aspects of being home with your children. The internet has a way of wrapping the modern-day role of homemaking into a pretty little package that looks quiet, cozy, neat, calm, and beautiful. Are there moments of that? Absolutely! But a full-time mother's role is definitely NOT neat, calm, or quiet. Let’s have a chat about the importance of understanding what we are saying yes to and why you chose this role. Warning: Many poop stories that will surely give you a belly laugh in this one, my friend.

Wait! Are we talking about learning when summer JUST started? Yup! We sure are. These incredible women, Justine and Cynthia, have created play-based, hands-on unit studies which are absolutely perfect for:

  • Those who are interested in summer learning and activities for their children
  • Mamas who are already diving into next year’s curriculum options
  • Parents who are considering homeschooling after this past school year but aren’t sure where to start
  • SAHMs who have young kiddos at home that won’t be old enough for a school outside of the home
  • Their unit studies are for children ages 3 through 12, PLUS they offer guidance to the parents as well!

I loved my conversation with these ladies and can’t wait for you to hear their passion for helping mamas and families find joy in hands-on and play-based learning.

In this episode, I wanted to dive into the topic of scrolling. Yes, scrolling. It sure feels like this topic is discussed a lot, doesn’t it? Maybe that’s because it’s a topic where so many women struggle! We use it as an escape while justifying how we stay connected as isolated SAHMs.

It’s time to ask yourself if you’re scrolling to connect truly, or if you’re scrolling to compare. Compare what you have or don’t have. Compare what you believe or don’t believe. Compare what you feel or don’t feel. Compare how you look, how your house looks, and how your family looks in the eyes of others. Social media can be a wonderful tool to reach people all across the world. But, it’s time to ask yourself the “why” behind the thumb scroll.

Ladies! I am so excited to introduce you to this incredible expert who is not only the co-host of the top-rated podcast, Frugal Friends, but also the author of two best-selling books! I’m over the moon to bring personal finance expert Jen Smith to this community in hopes of providing you with yet another awesome resource for those tough problems you’re trying to tackle in life.

As SAHMs, we often manage our households on a single income. I’m always looking for ways to save a buck (preferably two) and cut back on spending while still trying to live a full life at the moment without feeling consumed with guilt when it comes to actually spending money. Is it wise to always buy cheap items? Where do we start with a basic budget? How do you navigate tough conversations around spending habits when an individual's upbringing determines their perspective on money? Can you live an abundant, full life while being frugal? What does it mean to be “frugal” anyways? All of these questions (and more) are answered in this educational and insightful podcast episode. Grab your cozy beverage! P.S. you’ll want a pen and paper for this one.

This episode is all about shifting our mindset and negative thoughts in order to be more fulfilled. We all have the never-ending “to-do list,” whether it’s sitting on your counter, posted on the fridge, or built up in your mind. Valuing your self-worth based on your productivity will absolutely lead to low self-esteem, de-value your role, and lead to mom burn-out at an astronomical rate. Trust me; I’ve been there.

One of the fastest ways to find joy and fulfillment in your day is by shifting your focus from what you didn’t accomplish that day to what you DID accomplish. Our accomplishments often don’t align with our to-do lists as SAHMs, but that doesn’t mean our efforts and intentions are any less valuable or worthy of pride and positive vibes. Are you basing your joy and measuring whether or not you had a good day by how many things you were able to check off “the list” that day? Trust me girl; I’ve been there. In fact, I share a story that happened recently around this very topic. Grab a cozy beverage and join me! Let’s grow together!

In this episode, I want to address a specific question from a sweet mama listener who is going through the same challenges all of us have or will be going through…life with multiple littles. The heaviness of life as a SAHM with two littles and the challenges this brings is something I know all too well. As many of you know, this was my rock-bottom moment. This was when I was forced to make little changes that had a big impact. What do we do to get through this tumultuous time? What steps can we take to get off this island of desolate isolation? How do we thrive in this time when we feel like we’re merely surviving? I hope this episode helps another mama get back on her feet, understand her worth, and know her feelings are heard.

May is NF Awareness Month, and in doing my part to “Shine a Light on NF,” I want to bring you a conversation I shared on the podcast this time last year with my sweet friend Christa Castanon. Christa and I both have children with Neurofibromatosis Type 1 or NF1. In this episode, we chat about:

  • The importance of finding a community and the ability to create your own.
  • Supporting other moms with children of special needs.
  • The fear, the struggles, and the beauty of parenting children with special needs.
  • Finding self-care in times when your child and family are demanding your utmost attention.

This episode is not just for mamas with children of NF. It’s an episode for ALL mamas because even if you don’t have a special-needs child, chances are good you know someone who does. As I am re-releasing this episode, Christa and her daughter Cataleya (Cat) are going through a very challenging, scary, and unknown time. Cat’s midbrain tumor has grown, and she recently went through a brain biopsy procedure. Their family needs all of our support and consideration at this time. I only ask that you help by educating yourself for a few moments on this rare disease.

I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of trying to do and be all the things all the time. Does anyone else constantly feel pulled to be doing more? We need to stop trying new things for the sake of adding it to our own identity. Let curiosity and pleasure be your guide, not envy and higher expectations. In this episode, I talk about what it means to invest in yourself, the problems that arise when we don’t as SAHMs, and the four ways I stay on track to investing in my OWN life. Grab a cozy beverage, and start your week off with a little mindset conversation and an opportunity for self-reflection.

Ladies, I have the honor and the privilege of introducing you to an absolutely phenomenal woman. Julie Bogart is incredibly well-known for her “common sense parenting and education advice” in the homeschool community. I started my journey in getting to know Julie when I read her book, “Brave Learner” a few years ago. I was ecstatic to learn about Julie's most recent book, “Raising Critical Thinkers” and couldn’t wait to have her on the show. The important concepts and research presented are beneficial for not only home educators but ALL parents.

Julie and I talk about what it means to be a critical thinker, how to apply this in everyday situations, and the importance of this application now more than ever. Julie and I don’t shy away from the tough conversations or real talk such as religion and personal household values. Grab a cozy beverage (tea is Julie’s trademark beverage) and join us in a beautiful and insightful conversation.

In light of Mother’s Day being yesterday, let’s chat about what motherhood means. I want to address what you are saying, “yes” to.

Motherhood is saying yes to the challenge of becoming a mother, parenting a child, and taking on the responsibility of raising the future generation. This is a challenge we are taking on almost entirely ourselves when we become the full-time SAHM. What does it mean to consider motherhood as a vocation? Why is it important to remember this portion of our identity falls under this role? This short and sweet episode will leave you confident, empowered, and ready to tackle the week.

Ladies! I’m honored and elated to introduce you to fellow SAHM and podcaster, Christy Thomas. Christy is the host and founder of the podcast “Keep Calm, Mother On.” She started the podcast in 2018 as a way to share encouragement and easy-to-implement ideas for moms with kids ages 5 to 15. Christy is a military spouse, mom of 3, homeschooler, and teacher by trade who found her passion in supporting other women in their journey through motherhood.

As a family who has moved 11 times, she is an advocate for building community through small brave acts. We had an insightful and inspirational conversation about the importance of building community and tips on how to do so.

Christy shares her insight on how to find joy and moments of pause in the midst of motherhood, the importance of play in not only our children’s lives but also our own, and her theory on choosing people over productivity. Yes, at times, the dishes can absolutely wait. Christy shares her thoughts on the “hot-mess mom” culture and what balancing grace in motherhood looks like.

I hope you find calm, inspiration, and grace in this episode. As Christy says, “You are the right mom for your kids.”

As little girls, we want to be rescued. We want to be the damsel in distress, the princess twirling in her pretty dress. Who do we picture rescuing us? The strong, confident, capable, masculine man!

Modern (extreme) feminism has come along to say we no longer need a man. They tell us, we are 100% equal and that “anything they can do, I can do better.” The honest truth is, we can’t. Now, don’t get me wrong. I absolutely 1,000% consider myself a feminist! I believe in equal opportunity and freedom of choice. I take so much pride in being able to CHOOSE my role as a SAHM. However, I also find pride in having found a partner who helps support me in this role which we’ve chosen is best for our family. He makes my life better, easier in some ways, and more joyful.

My goal for this episode is to debunk the idea that needing a man is weak. I want to show the perspective of a strong woman who is proud to rely on a strong man. There is so much value in a relationship where each partner can lean into their masculine and feminine roles. As a society, these partnerships need to be celebrated, not shunned. Men enrich our lives, provide support in different ways, and, let’s be honest…help us open that pickle jar when we can’t quite get it ourselves.

Do you find yourself counting down the minutes when your spouse will get home, eager for him to help with the children, tell him about your day, release your emotional baggage, or just have someone to talk to? There is no shame here because I was that person!!! It started to create some real problems for us. I call this act of “dumping” your day on your spouse, the Daily Dish.

In this episode, I discuss four ways to help you transition more smoothly when your spouse comes home and lessen or avoid problems that can arise with the Daily Dish. Please share this episode with another mama friend if you find this episode helpful.

From math teacher to SAHM who found her joy through pursuing her interests. My chat with this month’s everyday mom guest, Kayla Zenner, is packed full of mom-isms, discussions around SAHM life, the trials and tribulations we all go through in this role, and the importance of finding those moments of true self-care. Kayla found little ways to find joy for herself and share that joy with others through playdough kits, baking, mid-sized fashion tips, and makeup tutorials to help moms feel their very best.

It wouldn’t be a true mom chat if we didn’t talk about the tough and challenging moments we all go through at different times. Kayla shares with us her lowest low, how she overcame that time and later prepared to avoid a similar moment in the future.

The awareness of the toxins in our food, cleaning products, clothes, household items, and beauty products is growing, and let me first say thank goodness to the experts who are bringing these conversations to the table. But, if you’re a busy mom like me, we take all of this information and immediately get overwhelmed with not knowing where to start. I tend to take information like this, combine it with my mama bear love and protective instincts for my family, and go into overhaul mode, throwing everything out in sheer panic, which exhausts me and causes burnout. Fear-driven action at its finest! Does anyone else do the same? Well, I’m here to tell you, there IS hope and a MUCH better way.

Drum roll, please! I bring you, Tonya Harris! Tonya is an award-winning environmental toxin expert and founder of Slightly Greener. She “offers busy women simple tips to reduce toxins without turning their family’s lifestyle upside-down.” Sign me up for THAT! Tonya has been featured in multiple online and print publications such as Parents, Reader’s Digest, MindBodyGreen, Insider, and Martha Stewart Living. Most recently, she was featured in Better Homes and Gardens Magazine with a beautiful article titled, “The Nose Knows.” She has also appeared on TV shows across the country, such as Great Day Washington, CBS New York, CBS Los Angeles, and The Dr. Oz Show, for her expertise in environmental toxins, holistic nutrition, and how toxins affect children. Tonya’s book, The Slightly Greener Method: Detoxifying Your Home is Faster, Easier, & Less Expensive Than You Think, is a must-have resource for mamas who want to clean up their environment without the stress, fear, frustration, and overwhelm that comes from an often seemingly daunting task.

Tonya and I had a beautiful conversation discussing how she came to develop this method, where she gained her knowledge, and ways she has approached living greener incorrectly in the past. She gives us starting points, debunks my incorrect theories, and helps us take the first step forward in the right direction without fear. You’ll want to grab a pen and paper for this one, ladies.

For more information and an incredible resource to have on hand, I highly recommend Tonya’s book, which can be found anywhere books are sold.

There is an abundance of scenarios as to how women become SAHMs. In this episode, I want to talk about 2 of those scenarios.

  1. You chose this role
  2. You had this role chosen for you

The importance of this conversation lies in the fact that regardless of HOW or WHY you now call yourself a full-time mom, SAHM, or homemaker, the mission stays the same. This community honors and accepts mothers, regardless of how they came to be in these roles. Mom: In-Process aims to build value and self-worth within each of us in order to best raise our children.

Are you in a place where you don’t feel that twinkle of joy as a SAHM that everyone talks about? Or, have you been in that phase in the past? Maybe you go through these ups and downs each week. I’m here to tell you, that’s 1000% a-okay. We’ve all been there. We all have days, weeks, or seasons where we don’t LOVE the role we’re in. Yup! I said it!

However, (here comes the tough-love) you can’t just sit there and wallow in the self-pity mentality. You have to be intentional with reflecting on WHY you aren’t loving this season. In this episode, I unpack and discuss this topic and hope to give some inspiration to:

  1. Better understand there is no such thing as being happy 100% of the time
  2. Dissect the root cause of your feelings, and
  3. Take action steps to improve on the root cause of frustrations, resentful thoughts, and levels of unfulfillment

A fun and easy episode today where you get to know me a little better. I answer the following four questions, which always lead me down the path of self-reflection and deeper conversations about how we’ve arrived here in this community.

  1. How did you know you were ready for kids?
  2. What kid number was the most surprising for you?
  3. Have you always been a goal-oriented person?
  4. What kind of grandma do you hope to be?

If you have any questions you’d like me to answer on the podcast, please feel free to send me a DM on Instagram, OR you can email them to info@mominprocess.com.

Creating healthy habits is challenging as a busy SAHM, who is constantly pouring into her family. Trust me, I get it. So many times we start habits, especially at the New Year, with the best of intentions on making them to stick. And then, April comes and we’ve completely gotten off track. I’m here to tell you, we’ve all been there. It’s not about what you haven’t done or haven’t accomplished, and more about what you will do moving forward to get back on track.

In this episode I break down the 3 tricks I’ve learned to create habits that stick.

I’ve also put together a FREE, easy-to-use, customizable tool for you to get back on track (or stay on track) and build those habits into your daily routines.

Mamas! As you know, we changed the name of this community from “Mama Mindset” to “Mom: In-Process.” I discuss the reason for that change in Episode 103, “New Name, Same Game.” The short version of the change is that I found out “Mama Mindset” is a registered trademark and owned by another woman wanting to build her own business that focuses on helping mamas. The owner of that trademark is Anik Cockroft. So, after my two-second pity party, I decided I needed to meet this woman and have her on the show. As it turns out, she’s truly amazing, and the conversation we have goes deep into mindset and motherhood, as well as the laughable journey in how our worlds have collided in such a positive and beautiful way.

She is a Board Certified Pediatrician, Sports medicine Physician, writer, and mama of 2. She stepped away from her career to focus on motherhood and empowering mamas using her experience in the medical industry, personal journey in motherhood, and deep work she has done in mindset and personal development.

I’m so glad our worlds have come together and that I followed my instinct to meet her. Anik is a one-in-a-million type woman, and I’m grateful to have aligned with her. As women, we can truly create change in the world when we come together and collaborate in an open, honest, and vulnerable way.

You can find Anik and her new podcast here: www.mamamindset.com

I'm incredibly excited to introduce you to my wonderful friend Nicole Seegmiller, a homeschooling mama to 8 (yes, you read that right) beautiful kids ages almost 15 to just over 1. I often talk on the podcast about having mentors and people we look up to, and Nicole is my inspirational mama friend. I’m constantly asking myself, “What would Nicole do?”. “How would Nicole handle this situation?” And, if I’m really in a bind, I talk to her in person or send her a message, and she is always willing to help in any way she can.

In this episode, we talk about ALL THINGS mom-life. We talk about her background (she’s brilliant by the way) and how her education and experiences have played a role in motherhood and homeschooling. We talk about the importance of diversity in our communities, which we are able to provide as full-time moms. We talk about the beauty of homeschooling and how she decided to educate their children at home. Nicole shares with me her tips and tricks for meal planning, home management, and the roles and duties her and her husband play in their household. Nicole and her husband have three businesses between the two of them, so there are pros and cons of that dynamic as well.

At the end of the day, we both agree that our role as a full-time parent is irreplaceable, almost immeasurable, and the most profound work we will ever do. Grab a cozy beverage for this one, because the mom-game is strong!

In today’s episode, I wanted to share a personal experience I recently went through in hopes of helping any of you who are struggling to seek peace amidst the craziness of our world at the moment. The current state of our world may be leaving you feeling hopeless, confused, sad, worried, and even fearful. As mothers, we take on this burden for our children and hold it inside. We seek to find answers to the causes of evil, violence, conflict, division, and disruption in hopes of understanding. The truth is, we will never understand. We will never know what drives a person through darkness instead of light.

I often talk about finding clarity and peace of mind through journaling, meditation, movement, and outside time. However, I am not naive to the fact that these often are not enough. There are moments when we must tap into a deeper spirituality in times of uncertainty that goes beyond these outlets. This is an experience we must feel, not just actions that must be taken. I recently found myself in a situation where those outlets weren’t enough. I found myself seeking clarity and answers to questions that seemed impossible to find. I was turning to everything I thought I needed, with no success. Finally, I found myself frustrated and chose to listen to my heart instead of my head.

In this podcast, I’ll discuss another outlet for these darker times. What I learned is that sometimes we aren’t truly seeking an answer as to why things happen or are happening. We seek guidance as to what we can do for ourselves and our children. I was able to find that clarity by following my heart to an outlet my family doesn’t utilize often, but was one we needed at the time.

As women, as moms, we are in a process, and we are continuously learning—no matter your age and no matter the age of your children. That is what today’s guest wants to dive deeper into in this episode. Ruby Moseley is a historical fiction author, mental health advocate, and blogger who shares with us her experiences as a young mom and her struggles as a SAHM.

We also talked about moms' mistakes and how we hold on to that no matter how we try not to. If you’re a struggling mom or you are in a dark place right now, know that you are not alone. We are all here for you. Reach out to another mom, or reach out to Ruby or me. Just please, ask for help.

Who is Ruby Moseley?

She started her family young, so it wasn’t college-right-out-of-high-school for her. When she met her current husband, Bob, he had two children, ‘his,’ and Ruby had two, ‘hers.’ The four children tagged along with them down the aisle when they married! Then, before long, they’d added theirs,’ their fifth child and then ‘theirs,’ our grandson, who’s the same as their sixth child.

While being a stay-at-home mom/domestic engineer, she began part-time studies at the University of Texas at El Paso. Eventually, she earned a BA through a University of Alabama distance program.

She wrote nonfiction articles for local magazines. While writing online content for blogs and her own blog (www.unaskdforadvice.com), she became fascinated with researching her family history, which inspired her to write her debut historical fiction novel, Etch of a Promise, Book One of Sawdust Legacy series.

A light and fun episode! Let’s chat about the realities of SAHM life. If you’re interested in pursuing life as a full-time mom, yay! I’m so excited for you. But also, let’s have an honest chat about what that role will entail. If you're already a SAHM, you'll 100% find this relatable and humorous.

No one told me my life as a SAHM would often feel consumed with providing, maintaining, and managing my household's basic needs. When I (naively) decided to become a full-time mother, I had a vision for what I thought my life would look like. What I found instead was life's most simple basic needs, such as food, clothing, sleep, and shelter, had become not only my full-time job but also the sources of my biggest frustrations and overwhelmed.

However, we find these unbelievably beautiful moments in this role through it all. And that, my friend, is what helps us wake up each day and do it all over again.

“We have over 10 trillion bacterial cells in our gut.”

My conversation in this podcast stemmed from absolute curiosity on my end. What is gut health, and why is it important? This is a question I wanted to dive into, and Jayne Williams was the perfect guest to help me discover the answer. Jayne is a certified Holistic Nutritionist host of the Elevated Wellness podcast; she’s certified in gut health and is a long-time advocate of health and nutrition.

Jayne shares her personal journey to discovering the importance of gut health from her own past health issues. We discuss the importance of understanding how we source our food, the first steps to improving gut health, healthy bowel movements, listening to the whispers our body is saying, getting baseline blood work done annually, and the necessity to advocate for yourself when it comes to your health continuously.

Most importantly, don’t ignore what your body is trying to tell you. As busy mothers, we are constantly taking care of our children’s needs and health, but putting off your wellness can be detrimental if not taken care of.

Winning as a SAHM takes an act of selfishness at times, in order to accomplish your goals, and that’s okay. There are moments in motherhood where we need to put ourselves first. You have to look at self-improvement within the 4 Foundational Elements of Home, Health, Wealth, and Love as investments and get selfish in order to take action and make a change.

This doesn't mean you give up your responsibilities and duties of motherhood. It means saying “no” to things so you can say “yes” to yourself. That means we lock the bathroom door to use the bathroom by ourselves. That means we say no to the birthday party on the weekend because we need to tackle a household project that will make your family life easier. That means we say no to television and take the kids outside so you can get a 30-minute walk in. The only way to win at life, to accomplish your goals, to take care of your needs, is to squash the guilt of being selfish and realize these moments are investments for the greater good.

Holistic Parenting. What does that even mean? I chat with Julie Hatch, a pediatric nurse practitioner, acupuncturist, and holistic child health expert in this episode. Julie blends her knowledge and experience in Western medicine with Eastern medicine studies to help parents using a holistic approach. Julie and I dive into what holistic parenting looks like, How to apply it, and how it benefits us as SAHMs. Julie's book, "A Parenting Revolution for Higher Evolution: Raising resilient, responsible, compassionate kids from the inside out," hits shelves on February 24th but you can buy it digitally now.

Julie's passion to help struggling parents comes from a place of understanding and awareness that we live in a society filled with pressures we aren't taught to handle. If we know better, we can do better. Our conversation touches on the indoctrination we are all accustomed to, which dictates how we parent in this new Era. But, what if we approached parenting the way it was approached for hundreds of years prior? Would we be teaching our children skills to be more resilient, responsible, and compassionate? I had Julie come on today, so we have the tools and knowledge needed to best raise the future generation. My hope is that Julie can help YOU feel more confident as a mother. Enjoy.

If you follow me on social media, you would have seen the cake I made for Olivia’s birthday party. What you see is an ishly-beautiful cake. What you don’t see is the chaos that ensues when baking these gifts for our children. Let’s be clear. I am not the cupcake baking mom. I will do them on occasion, but it is not something I pride myself in doing, love, or really enjoy. I baked this cake and cupcakes out of love to make her feel special, but I was NOT expecting to make a 4 layer rainbow cake with 4 different colors of rainbow frosting on the cupcakes—the sh*t we do for our kids sometimes.

After reflecting on what could be considered an absolute sh*t show of a baking experience, I realized there were so many beautiful aspects of the process I needed to take into consideration. I took this experience and shared with you the 4 life lessons I was reminded of in baking Olivia’s birthday cake. Consider it life lessons from a perfectly imperfect mom: in-process. Yours truly.

  1. Don’t ask a question you don’t want the answer to
  2. Just because you aren’t great at something doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it
  3. Create realistic expectations for yourself
  4. There is beauty in the struggle

This episode is for anyone who is struggling to find a community of like-minded women. I invited Karen Poole, founder of Heroic Mama Fitness, to join me on the podcast and share her story about how she took action to build her own community of mama friends using her past experience and knowledge. Karen has 3 years of experience working with moms and kids in an outdoor fitness environment, both as a client and as a certified instructor. She’s been a certified personal trainer since 2014, and has been very involved in athletics for most of her life. She played college basketball and was formerly an Athleta Sponsored Athlete.

When they moved to be closer to family, she found herself in a new town with no friends and missing the mama group fitness community, FIT4MOM; she had grown to love. After realizing the franchised group was not available in their new location, Karen shares how she used her knowledge and past experience to create a similar opportunity for local women, in turn, building a community of mama friends at the same time. Heroic Mama Fitness became the group she needed and the growing business she envisioned. Karen shares with me the ups and downs of creating a community, how to prepare and pack if you’re interested in joining a similar group in your area, and where she plans on taking her business in the future. Of course, we add in all the mom-talk with a little side dish of business chat in this one.

The name change is here! Welcome to Mom: In-Process! A podcast where we, well, do exactly what we did in Mama Mindset but under a new name.

In this episode, I share why we are changing the name, how this process went, and what we will be doing moving forward. I unpack what Mom: In-Process means and how I chose this title. I'm excited to move forward in this community with this unexpected opportunity for growth and development under the new title. This was a beautiful example of when we embrace change as an opportunity instead of a setback — incredible things can happen.

Grab your cozy beverage for this one because my conversation with Belinda was fantastic! Belinda McCall is the founder of WomanBeeWell Magazine and WomanBeeWell.com. These online resources help busy women ditch the damaging diet and mindsets in order to live holistically and fiercely well. She stands for the unique, informed, and empowered wellness of all women. She is also a Certified Holistic Nutritionist and an AADP Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner. In addition to serving other women and providing insightful and approachable content to help them in their wellness journey, she is a wife and mom to a busy 2-year-old boy. In this conversation, Belinda and I talk about ditching the diet culture mindset and living a more holistically healthy lifestyle. We chat about how Woman Bee Well was born and the pull she felt to share her knowledge and personal wellness journey in order to help other women. We dive into topics around the importance of correct word usage when it comes to our health and how it can impact our mindset around various aspects of it, such as diet vs. nutrition, workout vs. movement, etc. I ask Belinda tough questions and her thoughts on wellness in relation to Covid as well as mindset when weight loss is necessary. Belinda started Woman Bee Well with a passion and honest desire to help others. Her spirit in this conversation is very apparent, and my hope is her website and magazine can be used as a tool for you on your wellness journey.

The fourth Foundational Element to living a fulfilled life as a SAHM is LOVE. In this episode, I go over the four main components of love we can reflect on when we’re feeling unfulfilled. As with the other three elements (home, health, and wealth), there are areas you can make small intentional efforts with every day. Or, if you feel like you need to place greater effort in one area, I provide resources as starting points for you to do so. Love is an important element we must consider because, as SAHMs, we can spend all day being with and giving to others without realizing we haven’t truly connected with those we love the most. Oftentimes, we also haven’t taken the time or created space for self-care, which builds a great sense of love for oneself.

100 Episodes!!!!

I am so excited to have reached this incredible milestone on this journey, and I want to celebrate with you! In this celebration episode, I talk about the 5 lessons I’ve learned about podcasting as a SAHM. I will give you an inside look at where I started and where we are at this point. Spoiler alert… the growth numbers are mind-blowing. My hope is these lessons give you the encouragement, the inspiration, and the confidence to pursue something you’ve been putting off. If you’ve been interested in pursuing a new hobby or interest, do it! Try it! There is a way to find the balance between pursuing your passions and providing a life at home for your children. Although we are pausing to celebrate this milestone, it’s only the beginning of our continued creation and building within this community. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way.

I want to give a huge shoutout to my incredible husband and very best friend in the entire world. Somehow you believe in me more than I believe in myself most days. Thank you so much. None of this would have happened without you.

The third Foundational Element to living a fulfilled life as a SAHM is wealth. Some of you may be wondering why wealth is a topic I am discussing with a group of mostly SAHMs, but the truth is that wealth is managed and used by an entire household. This means the entire household needs to be on the same page. In this episode, I simplify the overall approach to household wealth by focusing on 2 key components which should be used to build a solid foundation within this element. It is my experience that by focusing on these 2 key components of wealth, SAHMs can more easily find peace at home, confidence in spending, and less anxiety over the topic of money. Once these components are in place, a household can THEN and ONLY then, focus on building wealth if they so choose. Please remember, this element is tough. It may make you uncomfortable and possibly trigger deep emotions and/or trauma. Take it slow. Be kind to yourself and your household. For the sake of simplicity, the main resource I provide you within this episode is the great Dave Ramsey.

In this Q&A episode I dive into some DEEP questions I was asked.

1.      What are my thoughts on being a SAHM when the kids are in school?
2.      What show(s) am I into right now?
3.      How do Brad and I balance giving each other time when we are both doing a challenge?
4.      How long did it take me to be “okay” with not earning my own paycheck?
5.      How do you get out of sticky/uncomfortable conversations you really don’t want to have?
6.      How do you make space in your head for interruptions during your “me” time?

Thank you SO much to everyone who submitted a question. Please don’t hesitate to reach out any time with questions you’d like me to address on the podcast, or topics you’d like me to discuss.

Please do me a huge favor and share the podcast to your social media today.

The second Foundational Element to living a fulfilled life as a SAHM is HEALTH. In this episode, I break down the 3 components of health and how to approach them in a very simple yet hugely impactful way. My hope for this episode is to bring you awareness and understanding of these 3 components of your overall health and well-being: Mind, Body, and Soul: or Mental, Physical, and Spiritual. This will help you better understand how your overall health can be deeply impacted if you are not taking care of all 3 components. In the episode, I stress how important it is not to overcomplicate the acts it takes to hit all 3 of these components daily. I know you are a busy mama, but there are cost-effective (even free!) activities you can do regularly to invest in your health. Lastly, the ideas and approaches I give you are highly impactful. Meaning, by practicing one activity for 30 minutes a day, you can hit multiple components of your health.

If you find value in the episode, please share with another mama who needs a little help getting back to the basics of her health.

Liz Hayes would probably consider herself an every-day mom but being married to Clay Hayes quickly threw her into the spotlight when he won History Channel’s hit survival series, “Alone” Season 8. After I watched Clay survive 74 days in a remote location in British Columbia where he battled starvation, freezing temperatures, grizzly bears, loneliness, and a plethora of other challenges, I knew I HAD to meet the woman holding down the fort at home. As it turns out, Liz has her own incredible story of enduring hardship, facing challenges, overcoming obstacles, and a journey in building mental toughness as well. In this conversation, we chat about the obstacles she had to overcome, how she finds the balance between supporting her husband while also pursuing her own interests, the risks they took in starting a business as an already single-income family, and how she’s changed since the show. Of course, we chat about mom-life, preparing for kids to leave the nest, gardening, homeschool, and mindset shifts around SAHM life. All of this is packed into this incredible episode with a fantastic woman I have been anxiously waiting to meet. Grab a cozy beverage, sweet mama! You don’t want to miss this conversation.

As previously promised in episode 93, I am unpacking each of the 4 Foundational Elements that lead to a fulfilled life as a SAHM. The first element is “Home.” In this episode, I dive into the importance of creating a home that works WITH you and FOR you, not against you. If your home is your office and your office is your home, then how can you create a space that is effective and efficient? The answer is with the 3 Ss of Home Management.

  1. Physical Space
  2. Stuff
  3. Systems

I dive further into each of these areas and give examples of how to apply the 3 Ss on a daily or as-needed basis. My hope is to provide you with a tool to revert back to when you are feeling off-balance and the cause has been determined to be something within your environment/home. Working through the 3 S’s will give you a place to direct your energy and intentionality to improve your life and get you back on track.

Pornography. It affects everyone in some way. There are roughly 200,000 people in the U.S. who are addicted to porn. Nearly 35% of all internet downloads are related to porn. Some sources claim that the porn industry, which makes nearly $5 billion a year, has more influence on the U.S. economy than Netflix. Pornography addiction is a serious problem in marriages, but how do you know if/when it’s a problem? Is watching a little porn okay? How do you know it has become an addiction? Do you feel like your husband watches porn because he isn’t attracted to you? How do you approach a conversation with your spouse about their porn habit? These are all questions we answer in this episode with my incredible guest, Sam Tielemans. Sam is a licensed marriage and family therapist who specializes in helping couples heal from the impact of pornography or infidelity. He does an amazing job in this episode of identifying the underlying causes of porn addiction and walking us through the conversations we can have with our partners to address this problem.

Today’s episode sets the foundation for the upcoming 4 episodes. I have created a specific framework for living a fulfilled life as a SAHM and am really looking forward to sharing these with you. The 4 Foundational Elements are HOME, HEALTH, WEALTH, and LOVE. When I find myself struggling, feeling off, or lacking focus, I evaluate these elements to find the problem and take steps towards the solution. This episode aims to give an overview of this framework and why it is essential. Your approach to these elements can be a simple day-to-day approach or more complex if you find yourself struggling on a larger level. Throughout the next episodes, I will dive deeper into each of the 4 Foundational Elements with specific examples, tools, and resources to get you started. Please remember that the resources I discuss and provide are ones I have personally used and are meant to be starting points. I always encourage women to find tools that best align with them and their personal goals.

Today’s incredible guest is a woman I have known for a very long time and very much look up to when it comes to recognizing the importance of self-care in our busy mom lives. Tawnya Feldman has been in the beauty business for 25 years and truly is the big sister who pushes and encourages you to focus on your self-care. She is currently a consultant for TruAura and is passionate about helping women find and be their most confident best self through Microbiome clean products. Although she has been in the beauty biz for that long, she also brings a unique experience to such a feminine energy-based industry with her background in agriculture and the heavy equipment industry. Her down-to-earth approach to skincare and beauty routines is a breath of fresh air in an industry that I (personally) often find feels like too much.

In this episode, we talk about the importance of how creating a healthy nighttime routine enables you to establish and stick to a consistent morning routine. In turn, this gives you space to focus on self-care, which THEN gives you the energy to accomplish those goals you want to CRUSH in 2022. We both provide our own unique approaches to these routines and share what has worked and what hasn’t worked for us. We even talk about washing your face in the creek when you’re camping! Because, after all, we are Idaho gals! Please remember that my routine is different than Tawnya’s, and her routine will be different than yours. I want you to leave this conversation feeling empowered to discover your own unique approach to self-care and find what truly fills your cup in this world. I want you to go into 2022 with absolute confidence and wake up in 2023, reflecting on how amazing your previous year was.

P.S. I LOVE her clean mascara and makeup remover from TruAura. HIGHLY recommend my friends.

In this episode, I ring in the new year with my personal tips and tricks to accomplishing goals. I discuss the importance of communication, carving out time to sit down and reflect on the previous year, and planning the new year based on your current season of life. Maybe your goal is to slow down. Do less. Have less. Perhaps you and/or your spouse have specific goals you would like to accomplish. I talk about reverse engineering those goals to figure out HOW to accomplish them together. You have 365 brand new days full of opportunity awaiting you. I believe with my whole heart, the new year IS an opportunity for a fresh start. Let’s be intentional with that time.

Merry week of Christmas, sweet mama friend! In this episode, I want to address one of the stresses that accompany socializing at holiday gatherings: taking things personally. This is the perfect opportunity for a family member to criticize your clothes, hair, weight, kiddos, etc. It hurts when people do this. We go down a rabbit hole of self-criticism, leading to low self-confidence and low self-esteem. First, screw ‘em because it’s ridiculous when people feel the need to behave like that. Secondly, pull up those britches and hold your head high mama, because the good news is it has absolutely NOTHING to do with you, and EVERYTHING to do with their individual realities (paradigms). Let’s first seek to understand the why this ugly behavior so you can head into the holidays better prepared not to take others’ opinions, thoughts, and words personally. My goal behind this episode is to have you leave your holiday gatherings with a full heart.

Many of my listeners know that we recently and unexpectedly lost a close friend. He left behind a wife, his daughter, and their 6-month-old baby girl. As part of my grieving process, one of the thoughts and later conversations with Brad was that I hoped our friend had life insurance as his wife recently left her career to be a full-time mama.

In this episode, I asked my husband Brad to join me, as we have a conversation with our personal advisor, Andrew Nicholas, about the importance of life insurance for both parents regardless of job status. Andrew is a licensed Financial Consultant who specializes in retirement income planning, investments, estate strategies, solutions for businesses, and life insurance which is the focus of this discussion. We discuss the different types of life insurance, the length of time it takes to receive a payout if something were to happen, and the importance of needing a will in addition to life insurance. We debunk the myth that investing the cost of a monthly premium is better than purchasing a plan and how $1 million really isn’t that much money anymore. The most important aspects of this entire conversation are communicating with your spouse, not waiting to act, and finding someone you trust and aligns with your personal and financial goals. Brad and I share how we found Andrew and why we chose him to be our personal Financial Consultant. You’ll want to take a few notes in this episode, and I strongly encourage you to take action if you have not already done so.

If you would like to get in touch with Andrew, please feel free to reach out to him:

Affirmations are ALL the rage. In this episode, I dive into affirmations and make the difference between positive and negative affirmations VERY clear. So, what is an affirmation anyway? I define (in my own words, of course) what an affirmation really means. I talk about how affirmations affirm the identity you wish to manifest in life. Many people claim they are the key to success. Personally, I feel differently, but to each their own. What I do believe, however, is the fact that affirmations can also affirm the identity in which you wish to change. There is such a thing as a negative affirmation. And that, sweet mama, is the trap we fall into and where we get stuck. Negative self-talk becomes the affirmation for the identity which you want to change.

Let’s use Ice Cube’s words to summarize how I feel about affirmations:

“You betta check yo self.
For you wreck yo self.
'Cause I'm bad for your health.
I come real stealth.”

Yeah girl, I went there.

Today’s episode is with my wonderful friend and client, Amanda Bajek. I’m so excited Amanda came on the show to share the incredible journey we went through together as we navigated getting her life back. She shares with us the moment she hit her rock bottom and the trials and tribulations she went through to pull herself up. In this episode, I start with a true mom-talk regarding life experiences my family and I recently went through, including having professional family photos taken. YUCK! I despise doing family photos for a variety of reasons, but the main one can be chalked up to it being an ultimate form of vulnerability. I talk about how I overcame that, who helped me, and why. In this seemingly simple example, I cover the topics of overcoming fears, finding courage, asking for help, and the beautiful outcome that results from applying those efforts.

Secondly, I discuss the importance of INTEGRITY going into the holidays. I talk about how integrity is defined (using our children’s dictionary in true mom fashion, of course) as well as the importance of finding and using it in our lives each day. We can either manifest trust or distrust depending on how we exhibit integrity in the presence of others. This is done through our treatment of those who are not present. I talk about how gossip is the laziest form of communication and why people use it. I also give you four ways to respond to others who do not respect or are not aware of your boundaries regarding discussion topics, especially around the holidays. And, of course, I talk about what it means when those people get offended or uncomfortable when you choose to stick to those boundaries. Do you want to be a person who lives with integrity and builds trust amongst others?

Show notes:

Ladies, this episode is such a fun and unique perspective from Christine Maziarz AKA Coach Christine. Christine hosts and produces the Your Empty Nest Coach podcast. Christine was thrown into the empty nest early and used the transition experience to learn how to move forward positively. She now shares what she’s discovered with others through her podcast. We chat about her incredibly unique homeschooling experience, how she was quickly thrown into an empty nester situation because of this, and how she and WE can move forward positively once we become empty nesters. Did we chat about Matthew McConaughey? YUP!

I know you’re probably thinking, “Amy, why were you talking about Matthew McConaughey and seriously, I have YEARS until we are empty nesters. I’m just trying to fold this pile of laundry right now.” Please hang in there with me on this. First of all, why wouldn’t we want to talk about him? And secondly, the episode could monumentally shift your perspective in how you move through your days. There will come a day when you are no longer raising tiny humans. We talk about the shift that happens from caretaker to cheerleader. I chatted with Christine about steps we can take at this moment, even with very young children, to best prepare ourselves for the empty nest that will inevitably come. We chat about ALL things SAHM life, setting boundaries, and what happens when we stop comparing ourselves to others.

Also, I want you to keep in mind; we can use Christine’s perspective and knowledge to understand best our own parents and the thoughts, feelings, and emotions they went through in the past when WE moved out. So, grab a cozy beverage and join me in this conversational journey with Empty Nest Coach Christine.

Let’s talk about what you’re doing right now. What are you doing right this moment to move the needle forward in your life? What are you working towards in your life at this moment? Are you living in the past? Are your accomplishments you talk about from pre-kids, pre-marriage, college, or even high school? News flash, the past means very little, if anything at all. I and others want to hear about what you’re living now and how you’re living now. The things you are doing now are what is the absolute most important thing. The past is done. Let’s move forward and live in the present.

Today’s episode is going to leave you unable to suppress the desire to grab your jacket and lace up those walking shoes. Libby DeLana wrote a beautiful book for the “Do” series called “Do Walk: Navigate Earth, Mind, and Body. Step by Step.”

In the episode, I share the incredible way the universe brought Libby into my life and helped connect us. And boy, oh boy, is it a story! All the chills and powers from above. I know that may sound a little “woo-woo” for some of you so, feel free to insert God or whatever higher power you believe in. Trust me when I say there are just some things that happen for reasons that are out of our control, and this was a perfect reminder for me.

Libby shares with us her incredible journey of consistency through her daily practice of walking and how that consistency is truly transformative. I have never met another female who has independently set her mind to improve her life and stuck with that commitment for over a decade, never missing a single day. She helps us navigate how to find that consistency, how to walk even with young children, and how walking can quite literally save you. This isn’t a journey of weight loss or physical health goals. Libby’s journey is deeper, more holistic, and a truly profound exploration of self.

In this episode, we dive into the necessity of saying, “no.” This is, quite often, a learned trait for individuals, including myself. I share with you how you learn to say “no” when you find yourself as a people-pleasing “yes” sayer (pretty sure that isn’t a word, but I’m going to use it anyways). I dive into the importance of grasping your life’s mission, personal principles, and household values as a foundation for your decisions. Are you a mama who finds herself saying yes when your gut tells you to say no? Do you constantly regret the commitments you are making to others and feel pulled in directions you don’t want to go? This episode gives you the tools, strength, and confidence to change that decision-making process. This episode may trigger some emotional and uncomfortable feelings, but I encourage you to do the work suggested and eliminate these ongoing choices you continue to make, which are leaving you drained, depleted, and regretful. Learn to confidently say no, or yes!

Today’s episode is a solo due to an urgent last-minute trip to Seattle, which I talk about. I also talk about how my daily habits, routines, and mindset allow me to show up as a successful mother to tackle life’s curveballs. Many women have asked me how to handle those curve balls and how to prepare for moments that put us off track. You know they’re coming, but we can’t predict them. When you are a mother, the chaos and unpredictability only increase with the number of children you have. Well, this episode is a real-life example of a BIG curveball we were thrown this week, and what I did/have done to attack them head-on as a strong and confident woman. Happy Monday, mama friend! I’m nervous and excited to bring you today’s incredibly vulnerable episode. I had to go deep into the feelings of my past as a new and struggling SAHM to get you today’s episode. I was asking myself what I would want to share. What would I say to all of you? So, I took a bath and started writing. And this episode is what I uncovered. It’s very difficult for me to reflect on my former self and truly face my demons and my struggles. However, it makes me stronger. It makes all of us stronger. And if I can help someone by sharing my stories, then it makes everything worth it. Please, be mindful of your thoughts, your judgments, and your words as you share or discuss this story. And lastly, please share today’s episode. Let’s help another mama today, together.

In today’s episode, I want to flashback to my very first interview, which feels like forever ago but was literally in April. And now, we are celebrating over 75 episodes!!! This podcast has reached over 800 cities and is growing, all because of each and every one of you. With this episode, I updated my intro and outro to address some of the mindset shifts I’ve had after this original recording back in April.

If you’ve already listened to this episode, please listen again for some cleaning and mindset tips, tricks, and reminders as we go into the holidays, the cooler weather, and a slower time after the busy summer. You may be surprised what you can pull from it. Also, it is SUPER fun to see what my first ever interview sounds like compared to now. In a short period of time, through consistent effort, we all can improve in ANYTHING we are wanting to work on. Please remember that you will be terrible at something the first time you try, and it will absolutely scare the sh** out of you, but that does NOT mean you should give up. That does NOT mean you shouldn’t try. So, come celebrate this amazing milestone with me in this fun and updated interview with Kendra. Also, this one is available to watch on YouTube now.

As we roll from Halloween right into November, the holidays feel like they are right around the corner because, let’s face it, they are. I wanted to take some time to talk about the pressures we feel as moms to “do all the things” with and for our kids. Where does that come from? Why do we feel it? How do we overcome it? As a SAHM to three girls, I find myself truly embracing simplicity. Our happiness doesn’t come from having a perfectly decorated front porch, or creating all the holiday-themed crafts, or attending the seasonal and holiday events. For us, it comes with slowing down and having time together. It’s time we stopped competing with each other, put aside the unrealistic staged magazines, cut back on our Pinterest pins, and focused on what truly makes US happy. Find out where I think additional pressure for parents to do all the things comes from. I’m guessing it will surprise you but also make you have an “ah-ha” moment.

I recorded this episode about identity after making the girls’ fried bologna sandwiches (with mayo and tomato…Tim McGraw anyone? No? Okay, cool.) and letting them eat Cheeto Puffs (Yup. That’s right.). It had me thinking about our identities, how we identify ourselves by the smallest granular decisions we make, and how those decisions often lead us away from doing what would truly make us happy. In this episode, I give you permission to eat a steak if you’re a vegetarian, stop hiking with your family if it no longer feels fun, and encourage you to step outside of your identity to try new things as a way to create a well-rounded person.

DISCLAIMER: If you are participating in the Mama Mindset Reset Challenge, I DO NOT give you permission to eat Cheeto puffs and fried bologna sandwiches.

Today’s incredibly moving episode is shared by a woman I have known for a very long time. My sweet friend Terrianne shares with me her story of survival after dying in the operating room after complications from Placenta Percreta. Most of you have probably never heard of this, and the truth is you should, especially if you’ve had a caesarean and/or multiple cesareans.

Terrianne explains to us what this is and why it is so important for women to know about it. Our conversation goes deep into why it is so crucial to educate yourself and advocate for yourself at all costs when it comes to your health. As women, we never want to inconvenience others. We never want to burden others by taking the time to seek the help we need. You’ll hear, in her story, how advocating for herself literally saved her life after healthcare professionals thought she was fine.

After hearing her sincere hopes and desires to help other mamas and bring awareness to this condition, I asked Terrianne to share her story. Her bravery in sharing such a vulnerable story is inspiring, moving, and will leave you downright awestruck.

I couldn’t have Amy Lenius on last week without having Sherysse on this week. Sherysse Morris will also be a familiar voice, as she was co-host of the Evolution of Mom Podcast with Amy. She has now shifted from that role as co-host in the podcasting world, to lean into and further explore her deep feminine connection. Leaning into this space is allowing her to help other women do the same.

In this episode, Sherysse and I get a little deeper regarding this beautiful journey she has been on. One of the things she has realized in talking to other mamas is that many of them get completely turned off by this conversation. Why is that? Well, we chat about it. Many mamas are still trying to find a self-care routine and figure out ways to love themselves, which makes the idea of diving even deeper into loving themselves overwhelming.

If this starts to trigger you, or make you uncomfortable, listen to that. What is this bringing up for you? Why are you feeling the way you feel? Is it envy, jealousy, lack of self-confidence? When you see other women who are sensual, sexy, and confident in their bodies do your thoughts turn negative, or do you celebrate them and think, “you go girl!” Sherysse shares a story of when she experienced these emotions and thoughts and how she handled them.
Her journey is quite thought-provoking and inspiring so, grab a cozy beverage and join me in this conversational journey with Sherysse.

Today I'm going to talk about something that might be controversial for others, but hold on for a while because this is just a difference in perspective when it comes to this topic. So before anything else, let me just put it out there that having an accountability partner is great!  This episode is in NO way taking that beautiful and powerful relationship away. I am not being judgemental about it, okay? I just wanted to share some of my thoughts on when having an accountability partner can limit you and keep you from growing.

The goal of this episode is for me to challenge YOU to learn to hold yourself accountable. Be your own accountability partner. Remember that everything you need is already inside YOU! You got this, Mama!

This is a great episode to watch on YouTube! Today’s episode covers a section in the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. This is a gem of personal development books and a must-read. I cover a study he discusses in the book, and I want to apply it to what is going on in the world right now. This is not political, and I try to present this unbiased, to better understand the psychological reasoning behind what is going on in the world today. Social conditioning creates our personal paradigms which then determine our reasoning and decision making. The point of this podcast episode is to bring some understanding to us as humans, in turn providing love to one another. Please, love thy neighbor. Be the good in the world. It is okay for people to disagree, truly. It is okay to question one another in a respectful way, including leaders, scientists, and experts in their fields, because every human has their own conditioning which defines their personal world. How you treat others with a difference of opinion based on their paradigms determines your character. Choose your actions, words, thoughts, and energy wisely.

My guest today is a sweet friend and SAHM, Jordan Despain. I have been anxiously waiting to share her story with you as it is quite unique and incredibly inspiring. When Jordan found herself laid off, her children doing virtual school, and her husband working remotely, she started feeling an urge to travel. Listening to that calling, they decided to sell everything they own including their newly built home, purchase an RV and hit the road for 6 months.

Jordan shares the ups and downs of life on the road. We talk about some scary moments you encounter when living in an RV and traveling to unfamiliar areas, the pros and cons of living in a small space as a family of 5, and how she found time for herself every day.

Jordan’s story shows what taking massive action on your dreams can lead to, making lemonade out of lemon in the midst of the pandemic, and personal strength to pivot and follow your truth when others disprove.

Grab a cozy beverage and join me on this very fun and inspiring gypsy journey with Jordan.

Today’s tough-love episode is a reminder that it isn’t about the “types” of things you do in your life like fad diets, fad workouts, even drinking your water that create internal growth. It’s about overcoming the obstacles that are continuously put in front of you. It’s about consistently holding yourself accountable to the promises you made to yourself. So, let’s have a conversation about it in a way that reminds you that you CAN do hard things as a mother, and it truly is overcoming those challenging moments that create growth within.

In this episode, I bring you a normalized and down-to-earth conversation in hopes of helping you take proactive approaches to planning for your period. It’s something that happens to our bodies like clockwork (most of the time), so why are we letting it get the best of us? I bring you four tips to help you and your household plan (yes, plan) for this monthly cycle. The 4th tip is absolutely the MOST important of all.

Please remember I am not an expert or a healthcare provider. This is simply my opinion and suggestions for moving forward based on personal successes and failures as well as observation and conversations with other mama friends.

Mark this episode as a favorite so you can come back to it as needed, either before your period or during. Lastly, please share this on your social media page or with another mama friend. I really feel like these proactive approaches can truly help all mamas.

Surprise! I’m changing it up this episode! I invited my husband Brad to come on the show and do some Q and A’s, which ended up being so fun. He put together three questions that I didn’t know ahead of time in hopes of shining some light on my day-to-day approach to motherhood and my role as a SAHM for not only you, my female listeners, but also for the dads who are curious about what we do as well. I talk about steps I take to be fully present with the kids. We chat together about me unloading all of my thoughts on him as soon as he walks through the door, why that happens, and what steps I take to ensure a smoother transition for him to come home. And lastly, I talk about the number one way to teach our kids healthy habits. So, grab a cozy beverage and join us in this super fun Q and A conversation.

In this episode, I want to shift your mindset from the idea that you need to “find” yourself in motherhood. Instead, I want you to approach this topic with action, proactivity, boldness, and bravery to create a life you envision. You are never going to be the person you were before you became a mother. Motherhood gives you an opportunity to build, create, and cultivate a life you want to live in. Always remember, you are in charge of the person you were already destined to become.

As always, please share the episode if you found value in this free content. The more we share, the more opportunities we have for additional expert guests. If you haven’t taken a minute to leave a rating and review on iTunes, please do that for me. I appreciate it more than you will ever know.

I am so excited to bring you this amazing episode with expert guest Meygan Caston. Meygan and her husband Casey created Marriage 365 after doing the work to rebuild their marriage themselves. They saw a need to bring these resources to other couples using their unique approach as a husband-and-wife team. “We created Marriage365 and are dedicated to helping couples discover hope, healing, and happiness, as a way to help other couples who are wanting to save, rebuild, or those who want to connect on a deeper level.”

In his episode, Meygan and I don’t hold anything back. We have a transparent and vulnerable discussion on the feelings SAHMs (or any mom for that matter) have about intimacy after hours and endless days of feeling physically and emotionally drained by our children. They call it “touched-out” when the kiddos are babies, but what about the emotional and still physical draining that happens as they get older? We pour our bodies, minds, hearts, and souls into raising our children to the point where we have nothing left for our husbands. Meygan helps us unpack and discover ways we can find moments of intimacy, even in the midst of motherhood. This conversation is about more than sex, although there is a lot of discussion about that. We discuss mindset shifts and how our everyday actions create healthier habits for growing our relationship with our spouse. Meygan answers some big questions we all have. Should we schedule sex? How many times a week should you have sex? Should our kids see us being intimate? What comes first, emotional intimacy or physical intimacy? Together, we unpack it all. So, grab a cozy beverage (don’t forget a pen and paper for this one) and join me in this INCREDIBLE conversation with Meygan Caston.

We’ve deemed ourselves “unhireable” as SAHMs, by understanding that we want to earn an income by pursuing our own dreams. You don’t want to work for anyone else at this point! You’re ready to leap into that journey and then WHAM! You are met with fear, self-doubt, anxiety, and questioning from others and yourself. Now what? Where do you start? You start by building your confidence and knowing your worth. In this episode, I have a very special and knowledgeable guest who I’ve known for 17 years. She began her entrepreneurial journey in her early 20s and has since pivoted her expertise to serving and helping others pursue their own passions. We bring a heavy dose of confidence that yes, you can raise a family and have a business. We bust through the myth of this “go-hard” mentality as the only way to succeed and dive into the fears surrounding money. This episode is for EVERY mom, regardless of whether you are earning an income alongside your role as a SAHM or not. Because you may just find inspiration in this episode to finally pursue the idea you’ve had rolling around in that beautiful mind of yours.

I had an opportunity to sit down again with my sweet friend Tricia Michler to talk about all things homeschool. In case you missed her in our previous chat (Episode 30), please go back and listen to that one later. It’s an incredibly fun chat between two SAHMs regarding all things mom-life and the importance of doing things you enjoy outside of motherhood.

This conversation came about incredibly last minute, which makes it even more fun. I had no idea we were both starting up our homeschool programs on the same day, and I decided we HAD to chat about what we each did to prepare, goals for the year, curriculum choices, and what our day-to-day structure will (hopefully) look like. We chat about the struggles, frustrations, and challenges homeschool brings. And of course, we share the absolute beauty and flexibility it allows as well. We touch on the fact that each home can structure their days as they see fit based on their family’s interests and individual needs. Trish is in her third year of home-based learning with 4 kiddos, and I am in my second year with 2 kiddos and a very busy toddler. This impromptu conversation is fun, entertaining, and absolutely relatable for all SAHMs. Grab a cozy beverage and join us!

I hate needing to rely on other people to turn around and be let down by them. I hate the guilt I feel when I do get brave enough to ask for help.  I hate feeling the need to justify why I need help during my days, when other moms send their kids to daycare, and no one bats an eye.

Motherhood is a constant juggling act and if one piece falls, it can all come crashing down. I get frustrated, angry, and disappointed sometimes and that’s okay. It’s okay to feel those things. But we can’t get stuck there. Feelings and emotions are not a solution to the problem.  So, in this episode I talk about it. I share my vulnerability as a mother with little to no help or support. I share with you my thoughts on those situations, my feelings of disappointment and anger, and how sometimes the only thing to do is move forward with one step.

How do you identify yourself? In this episode, I share how your “identity” can be one of the most limiting beliefs we have. I go through some examples of how you can use identities as a way to improve your life and how it can hold you back from making and sticking to changes. Who you identify as and with, can limit your potential to grow or become the motivation to realign.

Part 2 of this conversation with the incredible Jennifer Wiessner is the HOW! The “How” is such a big aspect of this topic that we decided to dedicate an entire episode to it.

We start off with a bang, diving into her teaser from Part 1 on why we need to strike “virgin” from our vocabulary. Trust me, it’s eye-opening.

Jennifer shares with us the importance of using anatomically correct terms, what those words are and when to start using them with our children. She discusses ways to prevent shaming our children for behaviors that come naturally to all humans based on how our bodies are built because with shame comes unhealthy sexuality.

She also “wraps parents in a warm blanket” by telling those who are, “worried they’ve said the wrong things or have missed the boat that you don’t know what you don’t know. Most of us have been brought up in a culture that is sex-saturated yet sex silent. No one taught us, so we all need to cut ourselves a little slack. But, now is the time to change that.”

Please let me know if you would be interested in participating in a workshop by Jennifer through the Mama Mindset community via zoom.

Why is it SO hard to stick to the healthy habits and healthy routines we desire for ourselves? Well, in this tough-love episode, I give you 3 mistakes people make when trying to create healthy habits that stick. After we talk about the 3 common mistakes, I discuss the most crucial step in sticking to the healthy habits and routines you desire for yourself. YES! The secret to success in creating a habit and building routines is in this episode. Since one of my most common questions is regarding morning routines, I use that as the primary example in this conversation.

Grab your cozy beverage mama friend, and please remember my tough-love approach comes from a place of absolute love for you and a deep desire for you to succeed in your role as a SAHM. I know this approach isn’t for everyone, but I never claimed to give you my words of wisdom (which to be honest are basically mistakes I’ve made) soft, fluffy, dipped in sugar, and wrapped in a bow. I’m telling it to you straight because moms are badasses and are some of the toughest creatures on this planet.

Hold on for this one because we dive into a taboo conversation you definitely aren’t having at playdates with mom friends! I truly hope to change that, however, which is why I have brought Jennifer Wiessner on the show. She is a Certified AASECT Couples Sex Therapist/Educator and creator of the workshop Raising Sexually Healthy Children and co-creator of the workshop Girls on Fire. She works with both children and adults in multiple areas so to say she’s knowledgeable in her field is an understatement. Jennifer is absolutely an expert and I’m so thrilled to bring her knowledge to you.

In this episode (part 1) we go over the who, what, where, and why of raising sexually healthy children.

Who: Who is Jennifer, what is her story, AND who should be having these conversations with our children?
What: What does is mean to raise sexually healthy children?
Where: Where should the conversations be taking place?
Why: Why is it incredibly important to have these conversations with them AND why it should absolutely be happening at home?

If the last year and a half have taught us anything, it’s to be prepared. Our lives can change in a moment. As the school year approaches, Covid-19 talks are increasing, and states are announcing mask mandates again. Talk of closing things down and enforcing restrictions continue, and I want to ask you one question. Are you prepared? Or are you waiting around to see what your school, state, and the government decides? Mamas let’s get proactive! Let’s stop facing the realities of what is going on in front of us so we can best prepare ourselves and our families.

Why this episode? Because I want you to thrive, always. I don’t want to see my mama friends suffering like so many did last year. And I truly believe, the way to combat the anxiety and overwhelm 2020 brought us, is by better preparing ourselves for life’s curveballs.

This isn’t a political episode. This isn’t an episode about being for or against anything that’s going on in the world right now. It’s strictly a discussion of what and how you should take proactive approaches to all of life’s unknowns mentally, emotionally, and physically. This includes yourself, your family, and your environment. What are some of the proactive items you should be thinking about and discussing? Grab and cozy beverage and find out in this episode.

I’m over the moon about this episode! Grace Adewale is a Holistic Child Strategist, Academic Excellence Tutor, Coach, and former teacher. She is incredibly passionate about raising young entrepreneurs and world-changers, which is what immediately caught my eye on her Instagram page. I knew right away, we NEEDED her on this podcast.

In this episode, Grace shares with us her tips and tricks for fostering an entrepreneurial spirit within our children without the feeling of overwhelm. We dive into the importance of this mindset to best prepare our children for the future. Whether you are a homeschool mama or not, this episode will inspire you to find your child’s passion and assist them on a journey of exploration. And, who better to do this exploration than us as SAHMs?

I truly believe we have this amazing opportunity as full-time mothers to dive into our children’s passions with them and foster that entrepreneurial spirit we are all born with. Grace and I talk about how the current public school system is hyper-focused on preparing our children for a 9 to 5 job, but the reality is, our world is changing very quickly. By empowering children to follow their passions, we can build better communities. We have an investigative duty as parents to foster their love of learning and curiosity. “The decisions you make today will determine the life you have a year from now.”

This episode explains why you can’t stick to healthy habits outside of the constraints of a challenge or a program. Thanks to the one and only James Clear who wrote, “Atomic Habits”, I finally figured out why we absolutely fall apart as soon as these programs/challenges are over. I take the information and apply it to being a SAHM, in hopes of you creating healthy habits that last once you complete a challenge such as the Mama Mindset Reset Challenge.

What I don’t want, is for women to complete the challenge and not have done the work to create healthy habits that actually stick, fall back into their toxic behavior, and end up further behind and more disappointed in themselves than they were before starting the program. So, listen to the episode, take some notes, and DO THE WORK!

Pasha Marlowe is the most amazing down-to-earth, uplifting, humorous, and positively energetic woman. She is a therapeutic comedy coach, podcaster, author, and so much more.

In this episode, we talk about the importance of comedy, laughter, and humor as a form of therapy during the MOST traumatic times. How do we apply that mindset shift to motherhood? We talk about what it means to play, do things we love, and find our joy in motherhood and as women. How do you play with your children and actually have fun? When did we lose that sense of fun as mothers? I share when I feel I lost mine. I even share my enjoyment of drinking coffee in the mornings, on the deck, in the sunshine…topless. Oh yeah, baby! I’ve had several questions regarding my interview episode on the gentle parenting method. In this episode, I clarify, address, and further share my thoughts on this. I chat about the importance of approaching any parenting method from a positive space i.e. Parenting starts with working on yourself. When discussing various parenting approaches, it’s difficult or impossible to not also discuss discipline styles.

So, in honor of total transparency, I absolutely dive into the taboo topic of spanking your children. And guess what? I even share whether we do or don’t. Please remember, each parenting approach is unique. There is an abundance of books, tools, and resources to help you on your parenting journey. The most important part of your journey besides reading the books and practicing different methods is to always work on yourself first. If an approach isn’t working, the first place to reflect on is yourself. Then, find a book or a coach that aligns with your values and stick with it. Don’t pivot after 1 week. Stick with it.

Our first guest author on the podcast is an absolutely incredible one. Megan Alexander is an Emmy nominated national news correspondent on the Inside Edition, speaker, actress, author of two Amazon Best Selling books, and of course a mom.

In this episode, we discuss her beautiful children’s book, “One More Hug”, which I stumbled across at our local library. After reading it to my daughters and drying my happy tears because of its beautiful message and reminder, I knew I wanted to chat with Megan about slowing down as mothers and embracing the beauty of our children.

Megan shares her journey in creating this story, the importance of slowing down for one more hug with our children, the struggles we all find in motherhood, and the beauty in staying grounded in the entertainment industry. We chat about balance, support, and the importance of living intentionally.

“One More Hug” is a book every mother should purchase for her children’s bookshelves as well as her own. It makes the perfect gift for new mothers, family, and friends.

Do you value yourself? Do you feel like you are worth investing in? In this episode, I chat about my journey to finding my self-worth. I had to start from a place where I found very little value in myself outside of being a mother. I rarely invested in myself through time OR money. We need to understand that women are worthy of investing in ourselves in BOTH of these ways (time and money). At what point did we decide we aren’t worthy of those things? Just because you are a mother, does not mean you aren’t worthy of investing in your physical and mental health. The ripple effect of taking that time is immeasurable and unfathomable. It greatly impacts everything and everyone around you in a positive way.

From SAHM to construction business owner!! This isn’t a story you hear every day. In this episode, I have an amazing chat with Molly Luke. Molly was a SAHM to 4 kiddos for the better part of a decade before she listened to a higher calling she couldn’t ignore, leading her to open her own drywall business. We talk about her journey to starting that business, what it is like being a woman in a predominantly male industry, and how she applies her skills of nurturing and independence as a mom as well as her faith to her now thriving business. She openly shares her journey of finding balance, what she would have done differently when she was a full-time mom and offers us some great tools and suggestions for prioritizing time within your marriage.

Molly is an incredible individual raising 4 kiddos and running a new business, who still manages to stay true to her own path. Her openness with her faith and the joy and peace it brings her is inspiring. Whether you are thinking of branching out and starting a business for yourself, or you are a full-time mama in the thick of young children, this episode will inspire you. So, grab a cozy beverage and enjoy this conversational journey.

In this educational episode, I chat with Aryssa who is a gentle parenting expert and coach in Dubai. She uses her personal parenting journey in partnership with her professional skills to bring parents harmony in their home. She works 1 on 1 with parents to find their inner peace and harmony, so they can understand their children and guide them through their parenting journey with clarity and focus. In this episode, we discuss a gentle parenting approach and what that means. We talk about breaking down the barriers that stand in the way of parents approaching parenting the way we desire. This comes full circle to the importance of first working on ourselves. We can’t approach parenting with harmony, gentleness, and peace if we are still battling unresolved personal trauma and learned behavior. The inner work needs to be addressed first, and Aryssa has a special technique in how she breaks down those barriers and shares success stories and examples with us here. I know you’ll love listening to this conversational journey with Ryss, because I loved having this eye-opening dialogue with her. Grab a cozy beverage and enjoy!

Tough love comin’ at ya!

In this episode, I talk about empowerment. Empowering YOU to take back control of your own life, while journeying down the path of motherhood. I break down the 5 basic tasks you need to engage in, to put yourself back in the driver’s seat of your own life. As women, as mothers, we are so consumed with what we should do for others that we use this act of giving as the excuse to not focus on ourselves. And then, we get burnt out. We get lost. We get resentful. By pursuing these five BASIC items, we inevitably take back control of our own lives. You must first focus on yourself before you can give to your family.

In today’s episode, I have a beautiful conversation with another inspiring everyday mama, Alisha Nyberg. Alisha humbly reached out to me to offer her experience, her voice, and her vulnerability as a way to help other mamas. Alisha and her husband Joe unexpectedly lost their son Rhett at 15 days old three and half years ago. In this episode, we talk about the work she has done over the past few years on her journey to healing, which is absolutely amazing. She shares with us what worked and what didn’t work. We discuss the struggles, her lowest of lows, as well as her journey to finding joy after their loss of Rhett. They now have a beautiful little boy, Lincoln who is 20 months old which brought a plethora of other emotions she discusses with me as well. The healing and the joy, surprise, and beauty in having and raising Lincoln after the loss of Rhett is a journey in and of itself, and one her and Joe are still working on.

Please keep in mind, that although Alisha lost her son, this story she wants to bring to you is one of hope and of life. It is of a life she has chosen to continue living. For her, her husband, and both of her sons.

In today's episode, the lovely Dr. Tarryn MacCarthy joins me in a discussion on finding your true happiness. Tarryn is a Business Prosperity Coach, Motivational Speaker, and Podcast Host of The Business of Happiness Podcast.

We talk about her journey to finding happiness as an entrepreneur, mother, and wife in her own way. Tarryn and I discovered that although our roles look different, her and I have had incredible similarities in our struggles to finding our true happiness. We discuss those similarities between working mothers and full-time mothers, in a way that completely levels the playing field and helps us get closer to the root cause of unhappiness for everyone.

I truly enjoyed this chat with Tarryn, as she is one of the most supportive women I have met. Her happiness radiates and the work she has done to get there is truly inspiring. You have the opportunity to choose happiness every day within your life, and I hope this episode encourages you to do just that. So, grab a cozy beverage and enjoy this conversational journey.

We live in a very polarizing society with views saying, “You are Enough” and on the other side it’s “Go Hard”. As SAHMs, we land somewhere in between. “You are enough” validates complacency and, “Go hard” creates burnout. What is the solution? Intentionality. Living a life of intention and finding intention in your day, combats a life of complacency. In this episode I break this down even further and give you personal examples within my day. Enjoy!

A while back I posted on Instagram that I wanted to know who inspires you, and multiple people mentioned Kelsie Spooner, who is a very sweet and inspiring mama friend. I couldn’t be more excited to bring your requests to life and have her join me in this conversation. I love having everyday mamas on the show just like Kelsie, who can talk about our every day success stories and struggles.

In this episode we talk about Kelsie’s experience, thoughts, and emotions about building a successful yoga studio and then stepping away from it all to fully embrace her role as a mother and embrace that shift for the season. We talk about working through the loss of our identities as women mentally, emotionally, and physically from our social skills, to our physical bodies when we become mothers. Kelsie shares what steps she takes to identify with herself again, through little intentional actions in her day. She uses her creativity to journey through motherhood by using daily Montessori-based activities which she shares with her boys as a way to keep her family moving forward. Her easy activities and mindset approaches not only fill her creative cup but also serve a dual purpose of being a parenting tool in teaching her boys life skills. By empowering our children it gives us space to move forward as mothers, instead of over-parenting and doing too much for them. Enjoy!

Guess what! As a SAHM, you are in the most unique position to pursue your passion and work towards your dreams. I know it's hard to imagine in between diaper changes, mac and cheese, and legos on the floor. In this episode, I boldly discuss why my mindset shift in being a full-time mom, has made me discover how many people are working towards someone else's dream. I chat about the benefits and the opportunities that a SAHM has to create a life you love. You have the space and freedom to work towards your own dreams if you take advantage of this lifestyle you have chosen and worked so hard to obtain.

In this episode, I share our personal journey in finding our own path as a family. It took getting back to our roots, stepping out of the “norm”, and taking big brave leaps to follow our hearts. Your success comes when you start living your own life for yourself. Not the life Karen is living down the street. Not the life your parents want for you. Thriving as a SAHM comes when you start manifesting the vision you have for your family, and it takes being brave. You have to take the steps forward, put in the work, and make the effort to build a life you love.

I tell you a story about a skunk, which I consider an initiation to the new life we were starting to build together. Trust me, it’s hilarious.

Who do you follow on social media? What types of T.V. shows do you watch? How often do you read and check the news? Chances are good, most of what you’re absorbing is not healthy. Most of what you’re absorbing is absolutely limiting you and killing your self-confidence.  In this episode, I chat about the necessity to limit your exposure to toxic and negative influences that don’t align with your values and the life you want to live. I go over how our brain absorbs these things and how it affects your conscious and subconscious mindset. I use personal examples of how toxic social media affected myself and my self-confidence, what I did to fix and overcome that, and how we cut out the crap in our lives. If you think you can view these things and move past them, you’re absolutely wrong.

In this fun episode, I have the honor of introducing you to and chatting with Tricia Michler. Trish's husband is Ryan Michler, owner and creator of the Order of Man. It's a movement to reclaim and restore masculinity. When my husband started talking to me about the Order of Man and I saw the positive changes occurring for him, one of my first thoughts was, "Who's this dude's wife?" The power of the internet has allowed me to connect with her and bring her on the show, and this conversation did not disappoint.

Trish keeps bees, hunts, grows a garden, and preserves food for her family of 6. She raises animals and homeschools her 4 children. This episode focuses on Trish, her success as an individual and the value she brings to the table in her family through her self-empowered mindset.

Trish and I discuss SAHM life, the importance of challenging yourself, and bravery in trying new things. We touch on the struggles of finding your way and how to overcome that. We dive into the roles we play as women and the balance and beauty it brings to the home. We even chat about the stereotypes we still feel as full-time moms and homemakers and the mindset shifts we've had, in order to squash the judgement.

In this short and to the point episode I give you a powerful tool you can use to release the chaos, heaviness, and overwhelm going on in your head. I give a real-life example of my brain dump, tips and tricks for doing it yourself, and the honesty that this is not something you have to do every day. Because let's be honest, as a SAHM we absolutely don't have time to do ALL the things every day. But, if we know we have a variety of tools in our back pocket to handle situations as they arise, we can conquer the world. Or at least, not have a total breakdown in the middle of the afternoon.

In today’s very special episode I have two amazing women joining me. Amy Lenius and Sherysse Morris are hosts and creators of the Evolution of Mom Podcast. Their mission is to bring women together using a holistic and practical approach. Both are mamas but their roles are different, which I find is a true asset to their platform and their message. Amy is a SAHM who homeschool’s her boys, where Sherysse is a single mom who works full-time.

One the things I find absolutely beautiful about their message and you’ll see that in this episode, is that through their different personal situations currently, as well as their past traumas, they’re able to uncover and reveal the commonalities of struggles that ALL women are dealing with, regardless of their job or relationship status. Chatting with these ladies inspired me in multiple ways and we all agreed, the conversation left our buckets overflowing.

On a personal level, I loved the experience of raising each other up instead of competing against each other. Their message, though similar to mine, is still unique to them. They live their lives, embody and project their own message of, “When one rises, we all rise.” I hope you enjoy listening to this episode as much as I enjoyed recording it and that in the end, you feel as lifted up as I did.

With areas starting to open back up, and people quickly building confidence in social gatherings again, I discuss the emotional issues this can bring within your household if this is done too quickly. Are you already feeling pulled in countless directions? Are friends, family, and others making you feel guilty for not seeing them or not understanding your need to take it slow? Have you taken this time you've been home to reflect on your family's needs? Have you understood and  established  healthy boundaries for your family, in turn making it easier to decide what you do and when you do it outside of your home? It is your obligation to not only provide your family with opportunities to experience life, but also to provide healthy limitations. These boundaries give you the space to experience life together. To have the conversations and experiences you need to be having. Take it slow. Don't rush reopening. It will be a detriment to the work you have done in the past 18 months.

I've been asked these types of questions numerous times. "What are your suggestions on transitioning into being a full-time parent? Do you have any tips, words of wisdom, etc." These questions are typically preceded with, "I'm just not sure if I can do what you do." Or, "How do you do it? I think I would go crazy."
In this episode, I share my tips, suggestions, and brutal honesty in what BECOMING and BEING a full-time parent/SAHM takes.
And folks, of all the people who have asked me these questions and whom I've answered to the very best of my ability, I can think of 1 who has actually moved forward with their interest in becoming a full-time parent. Why? Because it's really freaking challenging! On so many levels, it's challenging, and most people are not up for the challenge. I discuss those challenges and so much more in this episode.
Please remember, these are my personal opinions (I can honestly say I'm not alone in them) so don't shoot the messenger.
