Grove FM
Grove FM is an award winning radio station and new media unit based at Lyndhurst Primary School. We create child-led broadcasts which are linked to the curriculum and school life. The emphasis is not on final product, although a professional product is a bonus; our focus is on the process of creating work – and providing a platform for children to express their thoughts, feelings and ideas.
It's been another fantastic Spring Term filled with wonderful music at Lyndhurst so we decided to put together a bright and Spring like repertoire for you to enjoy. You'll hear ensemble singing by all our year groups plus our 3/4 and 5/6 choirs and solo performances from many of our young talented instrumentalists. We hope you enjoy listening and wishing you a fun and relaxing break.

Lyndhurst celebrated book week this term with lots of fantastic activities and enthusiasm for reading. Our main book focus for the week was Hike by Pete Oswald. The children explored the poem, wrote their own featured poems, went on their own hike and recorded their own sound effects plus lot's more. This is what Grove Fm managed to capture during the week
We celebrated national coding week at Lyndhurst whereby the children got to learn and put into practice new coding and tech skills. Huge thanks to Ms Kamiska for leading such an enjoyable week with parents who are in the tech industry coming in to teach the children. I took small groups from across the school into Grove Fm to have a little chat about how they found it.
A couple of weeks ago we were highlighting the importance of Dyslexia Awareness in schools and more importantly at Lyndhurst. This year we combined it with Grove Fm's transition project which looks at dyslexic learners at they navigate their way from primary to secondary school education. We assigned a small of group of our year sixes to ask a few past Lyndhurst pupils on how that transition has gone.
After our first half term we assigned the whole of Year 6 to come up with some questions for Mr Turnham to see if we can find out a little more about him. We had some fantastic questions and surprisingly a lot of children wanted to know the same things for example, what plans do you have for Lyndhurst? Where did you teach before? If you support football, what team do you support? I hope you enjoy it and many apologies for some of the background noise on the recording, the SMT room is a noisy place!"

It's the start of the academic year and Lyndhurst is back with a bang at Grove Fm. This week Yarra class took over and talked to us about greetings in French, different ways we travel to school, counting in twos and what the transition has been like moving from year one to year two.
