Pastor Travis Fox preaches from John 11:55-12:11.
[55] Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand, and many went up from the country to Jerusalem before the Passover to purify themselves. [56] They were looking for Jesus and saying to one another as they stood in the temple, “What do you think? That he will not come to the feast at all?” [57] Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone knew where he was, he should let them know, so that they might arrest him. John 11:55–57 (ESV)
"There is probably significance in the fact that he joins the detail that many went up to Jerusalem to purify themselves with the detail that “they were looking for Jesus” (v 56). What Jesus will do at this Passover purifies those who seek him." -Brian Vickers
[1] Six days before the Passover, Jesus therefore came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. [2] So they gave a dinner for him there. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those reclining with him at table. John 12:1-2 (ESV)
[38] Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. [39] And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. [40] But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” [41] But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, [42] but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:38-42 (ESV)
"She understood that Jesus was saying that her harried, depressed, unhappy attitude was separating her from him. She knew that service can be worship, if it is done with the right attitude." -Kent Hughes
[3] Mary therefore took a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. John 12:3 (ESV)
"Mary is giving up her rights before the Lord. There is nothing He cannot ask of her. Touching his feet becomes her pledge of unconditional service." -Skip Ryan
[4] But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (he who was about to betray him), said, [5] “Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” John 12:4-5 (ESV)
[6] He said this, not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief, and having charge of the moneybag he used to help himself to what was put into it. John 12:6 (ESV)
“The example of Judas show us how near a man may come to Christ and yet be lost.” -A. W. Pink
[7] Jesus said, “Leave her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of my burial. [8] For the poor you always have with you, but you do not always have me.” John 12:7-8 (ESV)
[9] When the large crowd of the Jews learned that Jesus was there, they came, not only on account of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. [10] So the chief priests made plans to put Lazarus to death as well, [11] because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and believing in Jesus. John 12:9-11 (ESV)
[1] And you were dead in the trespasses and sins. Ephesians 2:1 (ESV)
[5] even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved. Ephesians 2:5 (ESV)
[8] For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, [9] not a result of works, so that no one may boast. [10] For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:8–10 (ESV)
Pastor Travis Fox preaches from John 11:45-54.
"[45] Many of the Jews therefore, who had come with Mary and had seen what he did, believed in him, [46] but some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done." John 11:45–46 (ESV)
"Rather, he did things that demonstrated salvation. He healed bodies to show that the gospel can restore what sin has destroyed. He multiplied bread to show that those who feast on him will never be hungry. He walked on water to show that God reigns over chaos and walks on top of judgment for us. He raised the dead to show that he makes all things new. Tim Keller says, “Jesus’ miracles did not merely show off the naked fact of Jesus’ power; they revealed the redemptive purpose of his power." - J.D. Greear
[14] Then Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus has died, [15] and for your sake I am glad that I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.” John 11:14–15 (ESV)
"[47] So the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered the council and said, “What are we to do? For this man performs many signs." John 11:47 (ESV)
"[48] If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.” John 11:48 (ESV)
"[49] But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all. [50] Nor do you understand that it is better for you that one man should die for the people, not that the whole nation should perish.” John 11:49-50 (ESV)
"[51] He did not say this of his own accord, but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, [52] and not for the nation only, but also to gather into one the children of God who are scattered abroad." John 11:51-52 (ESV)
"[53] So from that day on they made plans to put him to death. [54] Jesus therefore no longer walked openly among the Jews, but went from there to the region near the wilderness, to a town called Ephraim, and there he stayed with the disciples." John 11:53-54 (ESV)
"[29] The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" John 1:29 (ESV)
"[10] In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins." 1 John 4:10 (ESV)
Preaching from Colossians 1:15-23, Pastor Travis Fox shares that it is only when you and I have the right view of who Jesus is and what he has done that we will have everlasting peace. And this peace that Jesus gives is not just for this season, but for every season.

To fear something and to be afraid of something are not entirely the same thing. The difference is in your relationship to them or their relationship to you.
Why do we bring this up? Here’s why... The question we're then faced with isn’t: do we fear something or someone, the question is: Do we Fear God.
Guest teacher Jackie Glass takes us outside the book of Acts to look at God's strategy for movement.
All throughout scripture, the method to God's plan for our movement is: first prepare... then move. This is evident in the life of Joshua, so let's turn back the pages and dive in.
So, how do we function as sent people when resistance to the name of Jesus occurs? How do we respond when following Jesus begins to cost us something - and it will - when we encounter resistance, fear, pain, as we find and follow Christ and help others do the same?
We think Acts 4:23-31 has the answer. The Apostles Peter and John are shaken, and yet this produces an emotion that may surprise you.
Preaching from 1 Corinthians 3:1-9, Pastor Travis Fox shares that true Christian growth comes from God alone!
The book of Acts can raise a LOT of really great questions; but perhaps the biggest one is: does God heal today? Well, through two observations in Acts 3:1-10 and a little help from the Alpha Film Series, we're confident there is a solid answer for all of us.
