We’re diving into the beautiful concept of gratitude and blessings, particularly in relation to God. In our busy lives, it’s easy to overlook the small and significant blessings that surround us. But taking a moment to reflect and express gratitude can transform our perspective and deepen our faith.
When we focus on what we’re thankful for, it shifts our mindset from one of scarcity to one of abundance. It helps to combat feelings of anxiety and depression, fostering a sense of peace and contentment. In our practice of gratitude towards God, we recognize His continuous guidance, helping us to trust in His plan and timing.
Expressing gratitude is not always easy, especially during difficult times. And that’s perfectly okay. It’s during those challenging moments that our faith can grow deeper. When times get tough, focus on noticing the blessings all around you. Listen in and hear some tips on how to embrace the blessings.

All three suffered with hunger, vomiting and diarrhea. Their mother had entrusted us with their care. Our family stepped forward to foster these three and provide them with vet medical care. The results? The gift of love.

The sun was shining brightly in the park on a lovely morning as I walked with my dog Abby, a 12-pound Rat Terrier. This was her preferred route for walks, following the gravel path that hugged the border of the park next to a chain-link fence and the elementary school playground. As we meandered through the park, a stunning white bunny caught my eye, basking in the sun and enjoying its breakfast of grass. Its white fur and tall black ears marked it as clearly not a wild rabbit, but a domesticated pet that had likely been abandoned in the park. Listen in to our bunny rescue adventure. It has a happy ending!

Our pets have become an integral part of our lives and families, but have you ever wondered why this relationship is so special?
The relationship between humans and pets is deeply rooted in our evolutionary history. Humans have always sought companionship and connection, and over thousands of years, we have domesticated various animals for practical and emotional reasons. Today, pets provide us with unconditional love, companionship, and emotional support. They fulfill our fundamental need for connection and form an incredibly strong bond with us.
How do pets specifically impact our emotional well-being? Pets have an incredible ability to enhance our emotional well-being in numerous ways. They can reduce feelings of loneliness and provide a sense of purpose. Pets also decrease stress and anxiety levels. Simply petting your pet can reduce your stress. Interacting with animals has been known to lower blood pressure and release endorphins that boost our mood. Listen in and hear how when you gaze into your pups eyes, you experience the look of love hormonally.

The start of a new year brings the potential for a fresh beginning, and I sure need that. What were the valuable lessons we learned along the way? What important insights did we gain from these experiences? Personally, I discovered that I had developed a habit of being excessively self-reliant, believing that I could handle everything on my own. Unfortunately, this mindset eventually led to an accident where I fell from a ladder and fractured my ankle. This incident acted as a wake-up call and became the most significant lesson I have ever learned. The pain endured during this time was immense, making the lesson I learned a big one – asking for help.
As we embark on this new year, my hope and prayer are that you find healing and recovery in whatever struggles you may be facing. In my case, 2024 will be a fresh start; I will no longer shy away from seeking help when needed, instead of attempting to shoulder everything myself. Let us embrace this new year with resilience and a sense of humor.
The New Year offers us a fresh start to transform our dreams and desires into reality. How can we ensure that our dreams are not merely wishful thinking, but instead, actionable steps toward personal growth? It’s important to acknowledge that accomplishing our dreams often involves embracing change.
Challenges are often experienced in times of change. However, by confronting fear, handling stress, and cultivating more positive relationships, you can empower yourself with the necessary resources for achieving your dreams and desires.

For Halloween this year, Siri suggested I wear a nametag titled Life and hand out lemons. I thought that was hysterical! Then I remembered that life really does hand out lemons. Lemons are those sour moments and situations in life that create stress, overwhelm and unhappiness. It’s those situations that upset you, stress you out, and leave a sour taste in your mouth.
Lemons get a bad rap though. If everything in life was a ‘piece of cake’ then life would be boring! How do you make lemonade out of life’s lemons? Listen in and hear my spiritual recipe for making lemonade out of life’s lemons.
Happy Fall Y’all!

I have been absent from publishing new podcast episodes of Spiritual Straight. In today’s podcast, I share what’s been going on in my life.
PAIN
Pain has been my teacher for the past four months. These are hard lessons, and it is hard to learn through physical pain. But I have learned and grown through the experience. I’ve learned that:
Everyone falls down. What matters is how we respond to the fall and choosing to get back up.
Everyone wants to be loved and cared for. We are all engineered for love, created by Love. We were not made to be ‘islands unto ourselves.’ We are made to connect, love, and embrace each other. New York Times physician and author Dean Ornish, M.D., writes, “I am not aware of any other factor in medicine that has a greater impact on our survival than the healing power of love and intimacy. Not diet, not smoking, not exercise, not stress, not genetics, not drugs, not surgery.”
Last week I was sitting in a hospital imaging lab waiting room. A woman in a wheelchair sat next to me with her care taker. I kindly smiled and looked into her eyes, seeing loneliness and fear. I said a silent prayer to God to make His love known to her to ease her pain. I noticed her demeaner relaxed, and I knew that was love in action.
If you are experiencing struggles this Christmas, say a silent prayer to be held in the arms of love. Then feel that love embrace you, a love so big, so bright it brings tears to your eyes. That is His love in action. We were created in the power of love, to be love, to share love, to spread love. Happy Holidays to you, however you celebrate this season of love.
Life is a journey. If you are walking a spiritual path, you understand this. I have been walking my spiritual path for about 15 years. Over that time period I’ve trekked over mountains of inner emotional pain, experienced inner peace beyond understanding, and followed Divine Guidance every step of the way. It has not been easy, but I have learned a lot and experienced personal growth.
Creating the habit of asking Holy Spirit for truthful guidance takes time. It takes surrendering your inner critic’s wanting to be in control and make decisions. When the false ego gets involved, you will find that your path becomes rocky, uneven, causing you to stumble and struggle. When you follow your Inner Guidance System, good things happen, you feel more peaceful, you appreciate the truth, you feel happier knowing just how supported and loved you are.
Do you use your Inner Guidance System to help guide your life? Do you struggle to make decisions, worry about situations, or make snap decisions that lead no where? Listen in and enjoy!
Caring is an extension of the love you hold inside. Is it possible to care to much? It feels good to help others, but that can also be a source of stress and overwhelm. This is what I recently experienced as a Red Cross Shelter Volunteer. I volunteered as a Shelter worker at the McKinney […]

Every year in the United States we celebrate our country’s Independence Day. While this is a fun celebration for many, for others it is filled with fear, stress and anxiety. Animals are God’s creation. I have always marveled at a pet’s ability to love unconditionally. A person can treat an animal horribly and still love. They give their love freely in so many different ways. Their love is comforting, caring, expressive, exciting, and beautiful. Animals know how to forgive. Your pet loves you no matter what! All of those qualities come from our Holy Spirit who is love.
