In this episode Kevin, a former Healthcare executive, addresses the multi-faceted world of Healthcare IT transformation. Before 2010 and the Affordable Care Act (ACA), most Healthcare settings did not employ Electronic Medical Records (EMR), so the digitization revolution is occurring much later in Healthcare than in other industries. EMR is the first area of transformation, but there is a plethora of other data to be incorporated from a wide range of devices, little of which is designed for interoperability. New technologies such as machine learning, AI, and genomic data are driving a more personalized care protocol based on, for example, individualized genetic mutations. All this data drives a new era of digital pathology, requiring data lake architectures that can scale out. The net savings to physicians is 80% reduced time accessing vital data needed for individualized care.
