April 2, 2023 – Psalm 118 is the last Psalm in a set that many Jews would (and to this day still do) have memorized for recitation on high holy days. That’s what this Sunday is, a high and holy day. As we wave our palms, and sing our hosannas, we reenact the original Palm Sunday; but Psalm 118 helps us see the irony, the one we praise today is the one we will reject on Friday.

January 16, 2022 – God shows up on the journey. This week God shows up to one of the least of these in the Abraham and Sarah story. God promises to be faithful to Abraham and Sarah, and make them a people, but what’s clear even in Genesis is that God’s faithfulness overflows beyond the bounds of Abraham and Sarah’s descendants, which brings relief like streams in a desert.
