Sounds of PDX is a weekly show that features Independent, Alternative, Folk, Electronic, Pop, and Rock music. The format is something unique.
Last week on the show I got to hang out with the Portland based electronic synth pop duo, Cloudlines. We spent the evening playing their influences and talking to them about their creative process. Some of the band's influences include More Giraffes, BORNS, and Made in Heights just to name a few. It was really interesting to hear about their approach to making music and working out of their home studio. The second hour of our broadcast featured the band's music including the current PRP single, Just Friends.
Just days before releasing her new single Yes Means Yes, recording artist Hannah DiMo joined me on the program. In the first hour we listened to Hannah’s influences as she shared some insight into her writing process. Listeners were also treated to a stunning performance from Hannah of an unreleased original track called Love Is All There Is.
Our second hour featured a guest appearance by friends of the show, Kingsley and Courtney Noe. I asked my guests about the challenges they face as women in the music industry and any advice they could share with our listeners. To end the broadcast we had played the radio debut of Hannah's new single "Yes Means Yes".

Last month I welcomed singer-songwriter, Hayley Lynn to the program. I had a chance to talk to Hayley about her musical influences and working with Portland producer, Kyle Devine. Kyle and Hayley recently released a 12 track LP called Bring on the Flames. We played a handful of songs off of Bring on the Flames and other selections from Hayley's catalog. Listeners also got to hear her perform an unreleased track called If You Show that brought the talk board to life.
About a month after releasing his latest LP, Jacob Westfall joined me on the program. During the show we listened to some of Jacob's biggest influences including John Mayer, Bon Iver, Brandi Carlile and more. Our listeners got to hear Jacob perform Somebody, a track off of his album Where We Are. After his performance we go through a track by track breakdown of the record!
On this episode of the show I spoke with Michael Jonas of Rational Unicorn Legal Services LLC. As my listeners know I like to dive into all angles of the music business so here was my chance to pick Michael's brain about music law. During the broadcast we also listened to a handful of Michael's musical influences and heard his thoughts on the current music scene.
On the heals of releasing his new single Retrograde Now, recording artist LEO ISLO joined me on the show. During the broadcast LEO ISLO shared some of his influences including SG Lewis, Toro y Moi, Jai Paul, and more. Our listeners also enjoyed selections from his catalog including an unreleased single called DEJA.
A month before the release of their "Train" LP, Green Mountain Guild stopped by the station to talk to me about the new album and their plans for 2019. The band was kind enough to give our listeners and early listen to the new record and share stories about the production process.
Sarah Wild dropped by to talk about the release of her latest EP, Underworld. During the show our listeners were treated to the radio debut of Underworld and the stories behind making the record.
Justin Gibson returns to PRP to talk about his solo project, upcoming music releases, and life after Pseudoboss. Please enjoy the show.

I had the opportunity to welcome Ashley Kervabon, founder of Women Crush Music back to the program to talk to us about the Future Boss Ladies of Music Showcase which featured two up and coming recording artists, JoJo Scott and Josephine Relli.
A few years back I was listening to mostly Brit Rock bands for their trademark ambient and anthemic sound. This is why I was so pleased to discover Holidae House, a PDX group that echoed all these same qualities. After months of featuring their music on my other PRP shows I finally had to opportunity to sit down with the band for a in-depth and heartfelt interview.
About three weeks before the release of the Salvatore EP, recording artist Salvatore Manalo joined me for a broadcast that featured his influences, new recordings, and a live performance.
Last summer I went to a Women Crush showcase at The Jade Lounge where I was struck by the originality and authenticity of one of Portland's newest artists, Kingsley. On the heals of releasing her single Ghost, Kingsley dropped by the station to talk to us about how she made her way to Portland, the evolution of her music, and the experiences that have shaped her as a musician.
From the highs of creating and releasing new music to the lows of serious health issues, singer-songwriter Bo Baskoro has had quite a year. Before hosting Bo on the program I had his music on my personal playlist, so I was more than excited to talk to him about the songs that had contributed to my soundtrack.
On a recent episode of Sounds of PDX I welcomed local indie-alt rock band, Glacier Veins into the studio for an in-depth interview and live performance. This last summer I was introduced to Glacier Veins and was instantly taken back by the band's memorable songs and dynamic range. On one hand they have the hallmarks of 90's alt rock and 2000's post core but then they combine that with powerful indie vocals, giving them a sound all their own.
Benjamin Tyler from Small Skies recently dropped by the show and spent the evening with us talking about his personal influences and creative process. I was looking forward to talking to Benjamin about the songs and sonic environment the band captured on their most recent release, Build.
The band, Butter was recently on the show to talk about their debut EP and share some never before heard tracks with our listeners. During the show the band talked about the formation of the project and the eclectic influences that impact their sound. Incorporating sounds from artists like The Strokes, Mac DeMarco, and Thundercat, Butter has crated their own memorable style that quickly draws you in.

From the first time I heard Small Million’s “Before the Fall” EP I became an instant fan. I have had their music on my personal playlist ever since. Emerging synth-pop duo Talk Modern recently joined me on air for an in-depth interview and surprise listen to the entirety of their forthcoming EP, XO.
The first time I saw Maxwell Cabana live I knew I had to get the Portland trio on the show to ask them about their eclectic and captivating sound. I would describe the band's sound as a combination of Jimi Hendrix's rhythm section and a fresh take on vintage R&B vocals and guitars. During the show, the guys explained how they all came to Portland and then to the project. I really enjoyed the influences they brought in for me to play, after hearing the artists that inspire them, it made me understand their vibe even more. In the second hour we heard the bands original recordings and had them performance a few live tracks for our listeners. One week before releasing his latest LP, Chris Margolin and The Dead Bird Collection dropped by the show to debut the record for our listeners. On this episode of the program, Chris shared the events in his life that helped shape the new album, Tattooed Hearts and Other Selfish Mistakes I've Made.
While on the road supporting their recently released “Young Ones” EP, Rococode stopped by the station to talk about the new tracks and play a few live tunes for us. The Vancouver, BC-based alt-synth band spoke about the opportunity to work on this record at the National Music Center in Calgary, and how it impacted their creativity. Our broadcast featured most of the “Young Ones” EP, including two live acoustic arrangements from the record.
