Jesus allows to walk through disappointments and failures so that he can take us to his "spiritual" operating room to remove sin buried deep within us.
The resurrection is more than a historical event—it changes everything. As we walk through Luke 24:1–12, we see that because Jesus is alive, we can stop looking for life elsewhere, entrust ourselves to Him, and follow Him with confidence.
God does His deepest work behind the scenes. When we can't see His hand we are called to trust His heart- because while we wait, He is changing everything and weaving every detail together for our good.
God is perfect. At the cross we see His perfect toughness in judging sin, and His perfect tenderness in forgiving sinners. Join us as we look at the one who changes everything.... His name is Jesus.
From the Garden to the Grave, every part of Jesus was tested to the extreme. He passed every test perfectly. Thats why we can trust Him with every part of our lives.
Jesus endured six trials in one night, beaten, mocked, and condemned by people whose minds were already made up about Him. His Identity was questioned, His Innocence was ignored, and Injustice was committed against Him. The sinless Son of God willingly waited through suffering so that the guilty could walk free.
Jesus was tested in the most difficult moments of human experience-betrayal, chaos and injustice- and His perfection was revealed. Because Jesus is perfect, He is able to perfectly save all who come to Him.
Most of us don't set out to fail, we drift into it. Join us as we look at the Faithful one who is greater than all our failures...His name is Jesus.
While Jesus was preparing to serve and give His life for others, His disciples were arguing about which one of them was greatest. Sin blinds us to what matters most and breaks the relationships around us. Join us as we look at the one who defined and displayed true greatness.....His name is Jesus.
We either calibrate our lives to fit the truth, or are crushed by the truth. Resistance without repentance always grows into rebellion. Join us as we look at the One who changes everything...His name is Jesus!

Rebel (Luke 20:9-15)
Repent (Luke 20:16-18)

(Luke 20:1-2) Where in your life do you feel most resistant to Jesus’ authority right now? What are you afraid He might change? (Proverbs 3:5-6 ; James 4:6-7)
(Luke 20:5-7) When you are confronted with truth, what is your first instinct: defend, dismiss, delay, deny or destroy? What does this reveal about what is going on in your heart? (John 3:19-20; Proverbs 28:13)
(Luke 20:9-15) Where have you seen small resistance in your life slowly grow into deeper patterns of rebellion? What did the progression look like? (James 1:14-15; Psalm 1)
(Luke 20:16-18) What does ‘deifying self’ look like in your everyday decisions-where are you functioning as the final authority in your life instead of Jesus? (Genesis 3:5)
We don't typically reject Jesus, we just remake Him to be more comfortable and controllable. Don't remake Him and change Him -Receive Him and let Him change you.
OUTLINE:
Revealed (Luke 19:28-40)
Rejected (Luke 19:41-44)
Restoring (Luke 19:45-48)

(Luke 19:41-44) What do you think God’s attitude toward you is (anger, disappointment, condemnation)? What does it do to you to see God on a donkey weeping and heading to a cross because of His love for you? (Romans 5:8)
(Luke 19:45-48) What might Jesus be wanting to remove or reorder in your life to restore health and a right relationship with Him? What are some of the ways He still ‘flips over tables’ in our lives?
What is one specific step of surrender you need to take this week? (Colossians 2:6)

What is your most common response to shame? In what ways does that create a barrier between you, Jesus, and his people?
In the face of these barriers, what might growing in humility look like for you? What is your next step?

Return (Luke: 17:15-19)
QUESTIONS:
(Luke: 17:11-13) Where has pain in your life recently exposed something you were previously in denial about? When you cry out to God, what are you usually asking for-relief or relationship? How can you tell the difference?
(Luke: 17:14) Jesus sends the lepers before they see results. Where might God be asking you to obey without immediate evidence that things will change? In what area of your life do you want God to remove discomfort, but He may be trying to develop maturity instead?
(Luke: 17:15-19) Where has gratitude faded in your life- not because God stopped working, but because life moved on? What blessings have become expectations in your life? SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:
Luke 17:11-19
In Luke 17:1–10, Allyn Anderson challenges us to consider who we are becoming as followers of Jesus, emphasizing the seriousness of our influence on others and the importance of self-watchfulness in community. Jesus calls us to faithful obedience marked by repentance, forgiveness, and small acts of faith that shape us over time. Ultimately, obedience is not about earning God’s favor but about surrendering humbly to Him as a natural response to His grace.
OUTLINE:
Jesus’s warning
Community
Faithful Obedience
Surrender
QUESTIONS:
(Luke 17: 1-2) Jesus says temptations are inevitable, but woe to the one who causes others to stumble. What does this reveal about how seriously Jesus takes our influence on others? How might recognizing the weight of our impact reshape the way we relate to people in community?
(Luke 17: 3) Before addressing others, Jesus calls us to “self-watchfulness”, reminding us that we are constantly being formed by our words, thoughts, actions, habits, and choices. Right now, how would you honestly answer the question, “Who am I becoming?” In what ways are you currently being deformed by sin, and in what ways are you being transformed by Jesus?
(Luke 17: 3-4) Jesus commands rebuke, repentance, and repeated forgiveness. How does this relational rhythm confront our natural tendencies either to attack or to withdraw in relationships? In what ways could consistently practicing honest confrontation, genuine repentance, and costly forgiveness reshape both your own soul and the culture of your community?
(Luke 17: 5-6) When the disciples ask for increased faith, Jesus points to faith as small as a mustard seed. What does this teach about the connection between faith and daily obedience? How might small, simple acts of obedience form you more deeply over time than waiting for dramatic spiritual breakthroughs?
(Luke 17: 7-10) Jesus concludes with the image of the unworthy servant who has only done his duty. How does this reframe obedience—not as a way to earn God’s favor, but as the fitting response to a loving, good, and gracious Creator? How might embracing this posture of surrender cultivate humility, freedom, and deeper joy in following Jesus?

Two masters. One heart. One winner. What you desire most will decide your direction--everytime.
OUTLINE:
Management 16:1-13
Motives 16:14-15
Morals 16:16-18
QUESTIONS:
16:1-13 Jesus says no one can serve two masters- even though we try. Where do you sense the strongest pull between Jesus and something else right now? In physics, not force determines direction- over time the strongest force always wins. What desire currently has the greatest ‘pull’ in your life?
16:14-15 The Pharisees looked righteous on the outside but were driven by hidden motives. What motives are easiest for you to hide from others? When God exposes a backstage motive, what is your typical response- defensiveness, ridicule, denial or repentance?
16:16-18 “Holy hopscotch” describes skipping over uncomfortable truths. Where are you most tempted to minimise, redefine, or avoid what Jesus clearly says? When obedience feels costly, what competing desire usually steps in to take control? Where do you need to remember and be reminded that Jesus is the perfect manager who paid your debt in full?

In your own words, how would you define Jesus’ mission in this world?
In what ways does Jesus’ mission shape how you view your mission? Where is your mission misaligned with his?
What barriers exist in your life that hinder your joy in salvation overflowing in joyful proclamation to others?
How might you seek to grow in your love and service of the nations? What would that look like?

According to Philippians 2:9-10, what is the future reality every human being will face? How does living under authority now prepare us for that coming reality?
What ‘layers of authority’ has God placed in your life (family, HOA, church, workplace, civil)? Which of those layers is easiest for you to submit to- which is hardest? Why?

What is the Church—and why does it matter? In this message from our Church Series, we look at what Scripture says about the Church, the real challenges it faces, and the unshakable hope Jesus gives His people. From the bad news of a real enemy who seeks to discourage and divide (1 Peter 5:8), to the good news that Jesus is building His Church and nothing can stop it (Matthew 16:18), this sermon invites us to see the Church not just as a place we attend—but a people we belong to. The Church was never intended to be a place we go, but a people who gather around a great truth...Jesus Changes Everything.
OUTLINE:
Bad News 1 Peter 5:8
Some News 1 Peter 5:8
Good News Matthew 16:18
QUESTIONS:
When you think of the Church, what comes to mind first-building, service, family, mission? Why do you think that’s your first picture? What does the Bible say the church is? (1 Peter 2:9-12)
The Bible tells us that we have an enemy who seeks to devour us. Where have you grown weary or lost heart in ministry, community or relationships? What has been discouraging you about church or serving?
Where do you see God working in our body? What is one simple step you sense God is calling you to to build up the body at Hillside?

The Church was established and is sustained through - God's Presence in God's People advancing God's Purpose
OUTLINE:
God's presence (2:1-4)
God's people (2:42-46)
God’s purpose (2:47)
QUESTIONS:
Is there something you are unashamed about liking / supporting? (sports team, hobby, music, political party… etc) Why do you think it can be easier to be bold about those things than our walks with Jesus?
How does seeing God’s Presence, the Holy Spirit, as a fire impact what we see happening in Acts 2:1-4? (Exodus 3, 40. 2 Chronicles 7. Ezekiel 37:27) What does that tell us about God’s Presence now?
Acts 2:42 lists a few things the early church was devoted to. Why do you think these are listed here? Where do you feel particularly strong or weak in these areas?
2:43-46 unpacks how the Spirit filled followers of Jesus were gathering & doing life together. What are some of the things that stood out from the way they do community & fellowship? Have you ever experienced this? What could we learn from this passage about how we see community?
According to v47 - who is responsible for adding people to the church? How can we join God in His purposes to advance the kingdom? In our families? Our work places? Our hobbies?
If Jesus is building His Church, what does that change about how we are to live this week?
God didn't erase the mess of this world-He entered it- giving us confidence, comfort and connection as we travel through the mess.
In Philippians 4:1–9, Paul invites us to lift our eyes to what is eternal, tend to what is happening internally, and live it out externally in our daily lives. This passage challenges us to face conflict, anxiety, and disappointment with peace rooted in knowing how the story ends. As Paul calls us to rejoice, pray instead of replay our worries, and fix our minds on what is good, we’re reminded that God’s peace actively guards our hearts and shapes how we show up in the world.
OUTLINE:
Eternal 4:1-3
Internal 4:4-7
External 4:8-9
QUESTIONS:
4:1-3 Does knowing that your name is written in the “Book of Life” change the way you approach conflict, anxiety and disappointment right now? Does knowing how the story ends help you walk in peace through difficulty? How?
4:4-7 Which of Paul’s commands are most difficult for you (Rejoice, Rest, Request)? What excuses do you come up with to resist these? Where have you experienced the peace of God guarding your heart and mind?
4:6 What is one situation where you've been “Replaying the negative” instead of surrendering it in prayer? How is this shaping the way you show up in relationships?
4:8-9 Paul gives us a beautiful mind filter and tells us what to dwell on, what is good and life-giving. Where do you sense God is inviting you to change what you're feeding your mind?

Jesus is the most prominent, dominant figure of all history. He rightly owns this title due to the fact that He kicked in death's door, choked death out, made death tap out and cry uncle—then Jesus rose from the dead and has given eternal life to all who would say yes to Him.

IV. A Confident Family 5:33-39
V. A Joyful Family 5:40-42
QUESTIONS
1. Christians, filled with His Spirit, always bring life, light, help, hope and healing wherever they go. What are some practical ways God has put in front of you to Love and be a Healing Family through this pandemic? 5:12-16
2. In a world filled with sin and injustice, bad things happen. How does God use unfair circumstances to teach us how to be a patient family? What do dolphins teach us about waiting on God and watching Him turn our dilemmas into delights? Exodus 25:5/ Acts 5:17-18
3. God calls us to be Faithful not Fancy, to obey the light He has given us. He told the Apostles to go teach and witness. What is one simple thing that He has shown you to do that you can obey today? Why does He not give us more light if we won’t obey the light we have? 5:19-32
4. When God is behind something it changes everything. What did Gamaliel know that most of us forget? Why does it matter that God has given us the end of the story and we know how it all turns out? How has this given you confidence in the midst of crisis? 5:33-39
5. We will all suffer in this fallen world. What does it look like to suffer for the mattering things instead of the meaningless things? 5:40-42
