This week Chris and James connect with Claire Ruberman to hear her running story. Given she grew up in Boston, the marathon was always there. It was a distance she couldn’t wrap her young mind around running but knew she wanted to do it. Eventually, she did but it was not without struggle. Claire bravely opens up about a long battle with anorexia and how it has impacted her running career. She offers insight to those who struggle and those who are supporting those who struggle. James then provides a week’s worth of “just take your medicine” type of workouts. Next, Claire asks some great questions about alternative training methods when injured and tips for downhill running. Chris, as he does, also gives Claire a big question to chew on regarding her desire to PR in the short distances and also finish a 50K. Only Claire can know which she should focus on.

Texas is frozen over so Coach Allison saves the day. She and James speak with fellow Renegade, Marina Byrd. Marina talks about her recent experience presenting to Florida's senate regarding Restorative Justice. She then tells her running story that started with consistent improvement in the half marathon distance and how she eventually landed with the Renegades. She recaps her recent debut in the Full Marathon and explains how to even out the "tiltiness." Allison then serves up a down-week workout for all training tracks. Marina closes out with some interesting questions on Gait Analysis, VO2 Max & Lactate Threshold testing, and more.
