Only Patricia could connect Chocolate Meat, Cubism and Jesus. Along the way, she also deconstructs some of the childish thinking that religious people might have about spiritual maturity. Praying we all allow Jesus to wash our eyes so we can truly see.
God doesn't want us to become more religious; he's inviting us into a life where we dance with him. Spiritual maturity is learning how to translate the truth into love, with the Holy Spirit leading our interactions with those around us.
Our Elements series would not have been complete without digging into Philippians 3. Jimmy helps uncover the three attributes of mature faith defined here, so we can "move forward into maturity" with the mind of Christ.

When you hear the word "Elements," you might think our new series is just focused on the basic foundations of our faith. But these truths are taken to another level when we operate with the mind of Christ, using wisdom to apply them in every context of life.

"Now is the time to experience heaven, not when we die. In the midst of the pandemic and social unrest, and in the midst of stress surrounding the election, let the shepherd of all shepherds - the guardian of our souls - lead you to quiet pastures. No matter how much chaos is around you, He leads you by still waters; because not only is He here to protect and guide you – He is here to give you rest." Amen! This is a great reminder from Dave that right NOW is the perfect time to see heaven on earth.
Love how Hebrews 11 speaks right into 2020. Faith is about having EYES on the promise regardless of our circumstances, and letting that inform how we take ACTION for love and justice.
"Do you know what’s happening outside the palace?” I love that Dr. Brenda Salter McNeil was asking this question online just as we were literally walking out from our campus to explore what God is doing around us. The book of Esther has never felt so real – it’s like Mordecai speaking to us in 2020: “I will not keep quiet, and I don’t think you should keep quiet either. Maybe this is your opportunity to participate with God in the healing of nations.” NOW is our time to respond.
Rev. James Williams is one of the leaders who joined Dave and Jimmy on the Justice Walk to Washington DC – in this message, he shares reflections from the journey and a few lessons he learned along the way.
