UN-ASSOCIATED
For many of us, we received an identity that was forced onto us by the world before we could even discover who we really were. For me, it was the “churchboy”. Throughout life I’ve learned that we are not who the world says we are, but are all individuals whose identities were given to us by God. It is up to us to discover that identity, and what we ought to use it for. Join me in discussions that will change our approaches to life forever.
Every time I think I'm humble, God shows me a new layer of pride He wants me to work on. The journey of sanctification doesn't stop until we meet Jesus. Until then, the Holy Spirit is still showing me ways I can be embracing self denial in my day-to-day life. Let's talk about 5 of them:
- Being obedient even when I don’t feel like it
- Spending time with Him, even if I don’t have anything to talk about
- Viewing work as worship, instead of dream-chasing
- Taking risks
- Making the most of where God has me (the HARDEST)

Most men are living to prove themselves—chasing money, status, and validation—but it's a game they can never win. In this episode, we create space to talk honestly about male insecurity, something rarely addressed in men's programming.
We break down the common areas where men feel insecure (money, looks, popularity) and explore what the Bible actually says about our worth and identity. The truth is: insecurities are bondage. And insecure men are unsafe. As men, we must turn to the only perfect man there's ever been if we seek freedom.

Have you ever worked so hard for something, get it, and not be as happy as you thought you would? I HATE when that happens. The world conditions us to chase after goals and accolades in hopes of satisfying that whole in our hearts. But things never seem to pay off.
This is one reason why the idea of being satisfied in the Lord always intrigued me. The only problem is that this sounded so unrealistic to me...until now.

Though the Church is meant to embody unity in Christ, it has housed racial division for much of its history. Conversations about race are quickly shut down in the name of preserving comfort or a superficial sense of unity. It seems Black Christians, in particular, are frequently accused of “idolizing their race” whenever they speak about their racialized experiences. But does this kind of avoidance truly promote unity—or does it cause deeper harm? What place does race, ethnicity and culture have in the Kingdom of God? Should we ever mention them? If so, how?

From MAGA culture to church scandals, the reputation of the Church is in the gutter and the image of Christianity in America is in crisis. Instead of making disciples, it seems the American Church has made more apostates than ever.
In this episode, I talk about what it really means to represent Christ well in a time when faith is often confused with politics, hate, and hypocrisy. Instead of staying silent, Believers who see the issue have a responsibility to show the world who Jesus really is—through our love, our compassion, and how we treat others.
This is a call to action to every believer. Be louder than them!

Most conversations surrounding the gospel talk about the physical pain, suffering and death that Christ experienced on our behalf. Dependency on the Lord is an essential part of our relationship with Him. Despite this, many of us are still hell-bent on doing everything ourselves. We typically refer to this act as "trusting in the flesh". God is not a fan of this. In fact, He's cursed the Israelites for doing this in Jeremiah 17. Not only is trusting in the flesh offensive to God, it can also lead to a life of anxiety, stress, fatigue and rocky relationships. In this episode, we do some self evaluation in order to gauge where we can improve in our dependency.

God's love is much easier to recognize when we get past our sense of entitlement. Entitlement writes off the ways God shows us His love as the bare minimum. We might not say it, but deep in our hearts, many of us think God owes us food, shelter, water, health, money, and life. In reality, He owes us nothing...but gives us everything because of His love.

I decided to make this episode to speak about the recent tragedies in Gaza and Israel. There's been a lot of rallying and split-support for both sides, which has made it hard to really discern truth from lies. I'm someone still being careful to fully understand the present and history of this issue. Nevertheless, among many of the takes I've seen online, a very important principle has been consistently absent - God's command to love our neighbor.

God's love is the purest motivation to live. As basic as the topic of love might sound, it is the foundation of our relationship with God and others. Without love, we have nothing. I forgot about God's love, but I am thankful that He reminded me about it this week.

Then God said, "Teamwork shall make Mine dream work." God may have not said that explicitly, but in His Word, His love for teamwork and collaboration is explicit enough. The Bible says all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. That means we've all done things we are not proud of, and sometimes that makes a gag at the thought of who we once were. What's worst, is that some of us have to deal with people that look down on us because of our past, making it even harder to overcome the shame. Let's talk about it.

Galatians 6:1 instructs us to restore our brethren who've been overtaken by sin with a spirit of gentleness. However, it seems a lot of Christian critique tend to come from a place of resentment and pride. In this episode, we all need to look inwardly and ask ourselves the question: When we are correcting our brothers and sisters in the Lord, are we doing so with the intent to restore them or shame them?

In 2023, there are too many false teachers and doctrines to keep track of. Nowadays it's not enough that someone disagrees with the Bible, but people even go as far to misconstrue its contents to justify their world views. Today we set a few things straight. We all have visions of where we think we "should be" in life. However, it's important to remember that saying yes to God's plan is saying yes to His timeline as well. How often do you pray for your pastor, spiritual mentor, or favorite gospel artist? It's time we as Believers stop focusing on only "getting" but also incorporate "giving" into our walk. This week I had an epiphany about God's faithfulness. As I enter my sophomore year of my Masters Program, I am at peace knowing God is faithful (loyal) to me and will help me endure and overcome the semester. Think about it this way, God is more faithful to you than a person who decides to remain with their spouse after they've committed adultery. I know that's very specific, but it's something that truly captures a glimpse of the undeserving love God showers over us.

Happy Juneteenth! Today we celebrate the freedom of the African American people here in the States, who didn't know about their freedom until 2 years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Like these enslaved people, there are many people today who aren't aware of news of a freedom that is accessible to them, which is Jesus Christ. As His followers, it is our duty to tell those people about Him.

Last week, while on my knees in prayer, I told God that I disagreed with how He was handling situations in my life. A couple of weeks ago I suffered from burnout. God has recently been pushing me to take my resting periods more seriously. We all need time to rest and regroup, and this time needs to be accompanied with fasting, prayer, meditation on the Word or all of the above. Resting is not laziness, it's necessary. A lot of us think we are pleasing God when we overwork, but in reality, pleasing God doesn't always look like "working hard." When He says "rest," be obedient and rest.

I've been sitting on this topic for weeks. Today let's talk about one of the roots of envy. No one ever likes to admit that they are envious of anyone. Envy is dangerous; it ruins lives and sometimes ends them. God grabbed your hand, and told you to follow Him. Only one problem...He hasn't told you where you're going. Typically, before one begins a journey, he or she knows the destination. Knowing the destination empowers one to persevere through today's trials in hopes of one day reaching the mountaintop. But when God doesn't reveal to you what the destination is, what is supposed to empower you then?

Knowing that the calling God has placed over your life is actually a command comes with huge benefits. For starters, God does not command humans to do anything we cannot accomplish with His empowerment. This gives us confidence to move forward in our calling, knowing that God has already made a pathway to a successful mission. All we need to do is listen, trust and obey.
You are never too unqualified or unclean to follow a command of God. In fact, following His commands is how we express our love to Him.

It is impossible to live a life that glorifies God without humility. That is how important this topic is. It's never a comfortable conversation to have, but it is imperative that we have it. Many of the things our generation does is for our own self-exaltation. We've traded in our testimonies of God's goodness for instagram captions that only praise ourselves for the hard work we do. Where does glorifying God still fit in our lives?

This week God told me to "be present." I asked Him how, and this is the message I've been inspired to preach on today. I don't think being present is the goal, as much as it is the product of reaching the goal. I think the real goal is learning how to not linger in the past nor worry about the future. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

It's hard to feel content while comparing other people's blessings to yours. The truth is, our envy and covetousness for other people's things root from our urge to glorify ourselves. This is a problem, because we were created with the purpose to glorify God. When we find ourselves more concerned with glorifying our own image than the image of God, we become idolators.

The blessings come, but we still aren't in heaven. We will still face challenges. Some of us have arrived at a new level, and with every new level comes new challenges. I pray this one doesn't go over anyone's head. There must be a balance between acknowledging the the trauma, upbringing, and environments that cause us to have a tendency to behave a certain way, and taking responsibility for our actions. Sometimes, we hear "hurt people hurt people" as a way to pardon people from their bad behavior. Although this statement holds truth, God wants His children admitting their own fault everyday.

I've been fed these messages by the Holy Spirit, encouraging the people who think they are too dirty or don't have what it takes. If you're the person this is for, God is trying to let you know something. If He's died for you, and if He has called you, stop thinking you are too dirty or not gifted enough. Cheers to 100! This episode, I wanted to take the time to be transparent. In life, God can call us to journey through the mountain peaks or the valleys, and each environment needs a different strategy for endurance. In the valley especially, self-pity is a very present and UNDERRATED enemy. Getting trapped in this pit will only slow you down and distance you from God. It's time we give this enemy the attention it needs to be defeated.

On part 2 of "Overcoming Sexual Sins", I talk about a common tactic the devil would use to tempt me into sexual sin: making it seem like he was my friend. Yeah, I know that sounds silly - who would ever believe satan is anyone's friend. However, in hard times, the enemy can sometimes approach you as an angel of light, as your friend, your solace, your provider of pleasure. askchurchboy: I have doubts on my salvation...how do I know if I am truly saved?
Today I answer what it means, and looks like to truly be saved. As elementary as this topic may be for some, it is the most important message that I could ever preach on - as being sure of salvation is the most important thing in all of our lives!
I honestly don't preach about this enough. But the key takeaway from this message is that we are saved by faith in Jesus Christ. He has paid the price, washing away our sins, and when we surrender our lives to Him and make Him our Lord, we secure salvation and go through a real transformation. I wish this experience on every human, I pray that as you listen to this message the Holy Spirit convicts you to be sure of your salvation. This episode will either make some feel more comfort or make some feel more discomfort - either way, GOOD. Love you all, enjoy!

In fact, 9/10 you should expect opposition, as satan works hard everyday to get you to doubt God by sending you messages and circumstances that contrast everything God has told you. In these times it's important for us to stick to God's word, know who we are, hold the line.

When God places us on a seat at the table, we can expect there to be people (or even our own thoughts) that try to convince us we don't belong there. However, when God places us on a seat, we need to hold onto that seat until He - and only Him - tells us to get up. That's that.

It's not every time a storm comes that our main prayer point should be for God to deliver us out of the mayhem. Sometimes the storm needs to run its course. Times like these are when we need to know what it means to endure.

Rejection is something we all hate to experience. We fear it because it makes us feel like we are not enough or that something is wrong with us. However, the life of Jesus is an example of someone who remained the Son of God, even when the world rejected Him. In this episode I cover why rejection is nothing to fear, and has no power while you are walking in God's path.
Jesus dying for us means more than our sins being washed away. His death gave us access to a relationship with the Father, in which we have freedom, identity and purpose. In this episode I talk about how since we've accepted Jesus into our lives, we then no longer have to allow sin, failure and comparison to define us.

It's hard to do the right thing at inconvenient times. However, in these inconvenient times, our responses hold the most weight. What we decide to do at our most uncomfortable periods can yield the most growth.
Faith is like the gateway between everything God wants to do in our lives and the physical realm. We have the responsibility of keeping that gateway open and maintained. If it closes down, we don't receive what's ours. Without faith, we have nothing.
Has the way you've responded to the crisis aligned with the vision of one that has unquenchable faith in God? If not, then there is room to grow, and that starts with acknowledging that we could do better. This is your test, your next response will determine whether you pass or not. Trust God.
When in crisis, the thing that will get you through it all is your knowledge of the truth. The truth is something you must know, it goes beyond feelings - it has the ability to change everything. Our faith in God rests on the truth, so make sure you know it.
