The mind is one of the most mysterious parts of our lives. We talk to people all over the world who share personal experiences that give insights into it's secrets. Cover art photo provided by Chantal & Ole on Unsplash: https://unsplash.com/@pluto353
Most people are afraid of dealing with their emotions and feelings. The most popular coping mechanisms are escapism (alcohol, sex, entertainment), supression, respression and projection. All of these are different ways our ego (the stories we tell ourselves) helps us avoid dealing our feelings. This mental process is obviously unhealthy and will ensure an individual never deals with the source of their suffering.
The conscious hurting process, developed by our guest Gavin Patterson, is a method of using the mind to instead begin healing by becoming fully accepting of the way we react to people, places and situations in our lives. This begins the process of delving deeper inside ourselves to start shedding the protective mental layers to get to the source of our emotional wounds.

We invite our good friend Benedict, a German physics student on the show to talk about his 10 day silent meditation retreat, Vipassana. The story quickly takes a turn to an 80km run. A run Benedict decided to do after being inspired by navy seal and ultra endurance athlete David Goggins. We learn about how he stretched the limits of his mind to accomplish this incredible feat.
