My name is Lucie and I am ADHD and proud. I am a fierce advocate of the ADHD community and I firmly believe that ADHD is a superpower. People who are ADHD have an amazing capacity to create, learn, teach, innovate, improvise and impress, however, we are not told this enough. I did not just create The Lucie Pod to discuss what it is like to be a girl in her 20s living with ADHD, I also created it to encourage the amazing ADHD community to embrace their superpowers and to have a platform where they can be understood, listened to and advised. I knew I wanted to make a podcast where my ADHD could not only flourish but also be a topic of conversation among other things. One day, during Stage 4 Lockdown in Victoria I said: "Lucie, do it. This podcast will not be some ADHD whim or hyperfocus project to abandon, bloody do it." So, here it is. Welcome to my pod, it is a pleasure to meet you I cannot wait to discuss everything that pops into my head with you!

Welcome (back) to Luce With ADHDitude, formerly known as The Lucie Pod.
Luce With ADHDitude (aka LWA) is the ADHD podcast you wish you’d had growing up. No more bleak or outdated narratives about ADHD; it’s about advocacy, education, and joy for the ADHD community.
The Lucie Pod was that too, but I’ve outgrown the name. LWA better embodies what The Lucie Pod always was.
So let’s gooo! Let’s continue this wild ADHD journey together, with me, your host Luce, and some amazing guests along the way!

I was in a mood and a half whilst recording this episode, which initially sucked because who likes recording a podcast in a bad mood? It eventually turned out to be a good thing because ya girl got to vent and release some anger! Anger about $60 memberships for ADHD “habit trackers,” excusing misogyny with neurodiversity, and something I learned about not being able to work in a specific area if medicated for ADHD. The disappointment! Other topics covered include mental illness, ADHD stigma, neurodivergence, social media, and more!

AI has existed for a long time; it is not a new thing. However, I feel as though in the last year it's become a huge thing! A lot of people are using it and talking about it in the mainstream. Some people despise it, cursing it for its environmental impact and the stupid robotic outputs it gives them, and some are in love! They use it at work, at home, and could not imagine their life without it. Some sit in the middle. And yet, I have not seen anyone look at and discuss what it can do for neurodiversity and disability. I mean, there are already examples of it being used in assistive communication technology and being used to research ADHD trends in academia.... what's next? Should something be next?
Well, in today's episode I talk about the next, the future of AI in ADHD: what it can do, can't do, and if it should do!

In this episode, I chat with Robert Simms, Clinical Director and Social Worker at Embodied Resilience—a neurodivergent-led practice supporting AuDHDers with a focus indigenous perspectives and issues.
Robert was late diagnosed with ADHD and realised that was only part of the story. As he explored his neurodivergence further, he came to understand that he was also autistic. Now, he supports others who are making similar discoveries about themselves.
We talk about a bit of everything—fantasy books that hit a little too close to home, the messiness of self-diagnosis, the subtle lies neurotypicals tell, masking, running a practice while navigating life and autism, and the weird, messy and sometimes chaotic fun that comes with it all.

In this episode, I chat with Kate Paulin, an autistic and ADHD depth coach who supports fellow neurodivergents in exploring how their brain works, embracing their full, messy, authentic selves, and building strategies that actually make sense for their needs and goals 🌀🧠💫
Kate, who’s AuDHD herself, brings a beautiful depth (pun intended) to coaching—especially when it comes to meeting people exactly where they're at. We talked about late diagnosis, the legitimacy of self-diagnosis (yep, it's real), and the power of being an AuDHD coach supporting other AuDHDers. 🔁✨
We also got delightfully philosophical—diving into the emotional and messy soup we all swim in. Think: the role of emotions, what it means to feel without being consumed, and why anger (even when it’s sticky and icky) absolutely deserves a seat at the messy ADHD table 😤🍽️

Kendra, also an ex-Silicon Valley marketer (how iconic is that?!), shared her journey of being diagnosed with ADHD while pregnant. We also discussed the online ADHD discourse, therapy and wellness speak, burnout, windows of tolerance, and yes, the infamous "everyone is on the spectrum" conversation. 🤯

So let’s do it, let’s talk about it!Music & Editor: Trent TuckerGet in touch with The Lucie Pod: https://linktr.ee/theluciepodTrent's Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@THEKOSENONE/featuredApply to The ADHD Foundation Volunteer Team: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe5GIiW49Mdbt1ZTrr9Byw563sKtUTS5_tDP1tW09NX_Rv0wg/viewformSources:Chris Cuomo’s Interview with the mother: https://fb.watch/lWiYfYNKI7/News Nation Expert disputes medicine responsible for 9-year-old’s death: https://www.newsnationnow.com/cuomo-show/expert-disputes-medicine-responsible-for-9-year-olds-death/Impulsive Aggression as a Comorbidity of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder in Children and Adolescents: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4779282/Stimulant Medications for ADHD Study: https://childmind.org/article/understanding-adhd-medications/#:~:text=If%20you%20have%20ADHD%2C%20studies,(Adderall%20and%20other%20brands).Stimlant ADHD medication and risk for substance abuse Study: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4147667/?fbclid=IwAR1FPtUf-2CAr1mh4g5i-Gd3gbdi1abtulYcWsdJPnHHgpc_L6c4qajMTUYResources-Lifeline: https://www.lifeline.org.au/131114/ 13 11 14Beyond Blue: https://www.beyondblue.org.au/about-us/contact-us 1300 22 4636ADHD Foundation Helpline: https://adhdfoundation.org.au/contact 1300 39 39 19
Apparently we're at risk of overdiagnosing and over-medicating adults and children with ADHD...OMG! Scary stuff! Let's panic about it in this episode....No, I don't do that, this is not about fear mongering or reinforcing harmful stigmas and ideas, let's respond to the Australian Financial Review's article all about their issues with the The Australian Evidence-Based Clinical Practice Guideline for ADHD and more.

So now we’re scamming ADHDers…We’re not only making it impossible for them to get a diagnosis or prescriptions for their meds but we’re telling them that if they want those things, they must pay ridiculous fraudulent fees to move up on the waiting list. I am shocked and appalled. Today we’re talking about the ABC article “ADHD clinics capitalise on diagnosis explosion, with some charging up to $3,000 and paying doctors up to $900,000 a year”. We talk ADHD access, inequality, and the warped perception we have of ADHD and how that is hindering ADHD support and progress. ADHD is not aways sunshine and rainbows, it is first and foremost a disorder affecting many and we deserve support.

Would you ever ask someone who wears glasses: “Are you going to wear them forever? It’s not good to be dependant on glasses for your eyesight.” or would you ask someone who uses insulin: “Are you going to use insulin forever? It’s not good to be dependent on insulin for your diabetes.” If your answer is no (which I hope it is) why do some people still ask these questions but in relation to ADHD medication? What is it about taking medication to manage the symptoms of a chronic condition/disorder that worries so many people? Why is it viewed as a dependency? Rather than thinking it is nastiness, I put it down to stigma and people being unaware about ADHD medication, how it works, its success rate and the reasons why people take it. Therefore, in today’s episode I discuss ADHD stimulants the discourse surrounding it and the positive impact it has on me and my life and why I will I probably be on medication forever.

Being ADHD and/or having OCD is bloody complicated (see what I did there?)! Especially when you throw periods and PMS into the mix. Well, Claire, Lois and I are here to de-stigmatise Periods/PMS and neurodivergence. In today’s episode we discuss our experiences with emotional dysregulation due to PMS and how it impacts our ADHD and/or OCD. Is it a venting session? Kind of, is it informative? Absolutely! ADHD Decoded is back! Today’s episode is nostalgic and musical! I am going to be discussing the wonderful Maria von Trapp from the musical/movie The Sound of Music. I regard her as a female ADHD icon with her energetic, forgetful, impulsive, and musical ways. She is proof that when one’s strengths and creativity are encouraged and developed they have the ability to excel in life. In fact, I also discuss how creativity, specifically in ADHD girls is so important.

Not this, but that…But sometimes OCD and ADHD mimic each other…. And sometimes people with ADHD also have OCD and the symptoms get mixed up and misread, they complement each other too much. Maybe that’s why my lovely friend Claire & I get along so well and can empathise with our neurodiverse struggles and quirks. Well today, you get to see us in action as Claire shares her experience with having OCD, her relationship towards it, school and how much we love true crime. If I were a rich ADHDER, I would access medication and therapy for free ♩ Haven’t heard that song, yeah for some reason a lot of people just forget that being ADHD is very expensive and difficult. This episode is an ode, a lament, and a call to action about the inaccessible, neurotypical and sometimes classist systems we have in place that prevent people with ADHD from living healthy lives. This episode also acts as directory for free, accessible, affordable, and effective ADHD resources.

Today’s episode is from my new series “ADHD Decoded: Decoding ADHD Characters” where we explore ADHD characters in the media and why neurodiversity in media is crucial. The character is Ms. Henriette Hubble from the iconic 2007 series ‘The New Worst Witch’ a show ahead of its time full of phenomenal representations of girlhood and womanhood, especially when it comes to their ADHD coded protagonist. The show teaches us a lot about the world of school as an ADHD girl and how others receive ADHD girls who do not fit the space-cadet mould or stereotype. So let’s talk about it!

You know what would be an amazing way to kick off 2022? Contracting COVID-19! Yes, that’s right, your girl Lucie had COVID-19 and is now fully recovered (hooray) but it was no easy feat. Being ill with ADHD is hard, it is in fact a sensory nightmare and deeply hellish and uncomfortable. So let’s talk about it: ADHD & Illness, some tips and tricks to make your experience more bearable. We then finish off with a chat about an ADHD icon Mr. Bart Simpson.

Work, work, work, ADHDers work and they work incredibly hard. Therefore, in the spirit of the holiday season of no work let’s talk about ADHDers and employment. Today’s episode is all about how ADHDers are an asset to the workplace as they are problem solvers, innovative, born producers and naturally creative. ADHDers can and do have careers in every realm possible whether it be in the world of science, arts and more! I also share my personal experiences in the world of work and whether or not one should disclose or not disclose their ADHD!

So you’re ADHD, great! Oh….and you’re dyscalculic? Oh double great! Double the problem….The thing is…you don’t know what doubling is, you cannot recognize those patterns as they’re invisible to you…Yeah, thanks dyscalculia.
Dyscalculia is mathematical dyslexia/number blindness and numeracy learning difficulty that affects many, many ADHDers. It is ADHD’s not so fun cousin but it is something that can be managed. So let’s talk about, let’s talk about dyscalculia, it’s link to ADHD and what one can do to improve their mathematical abilities!

Part two of my conversation with my dear friend Jasmine. We delve deeper into ADHD struggles, ADHD accessibility and why ADHD medication is lifesaving. We need to remove all stigmas surrounding ADHD diagnosis and treatment because stigmas stifle ADHDers from accessing care and mental health is public health and accessible equitable public health is a right. Let’s talk about it!

It can be scary, shocking, and exciting to be diagnosed with ADHD, but it is a whole other experience when you are diagnosed late. For some it’s a relief, an answer to all of their questions and worries but it can also be a huge shock to one’s system. It is not all sunshine and squirrels, and it is important that we discuss this . Today’s episode features my dear friend Jasmine, a young student who was recently diagnosed with ADHD, although she is an amazing and courageous human being, her journey has been far from easy and perfect. Let’s talk about late ADHD diagnosis and its impact on mental health!

Lockdown sucks… There is no other way of putting it. Lockdown is crap, crap, crap for everyone. Nobody is having a good time and those with ADHD are finding it hard because neurodiverse people experience challenging, stressful and daunting situations very differently to neurotypicals and this can heavily impact them. It is time to hold the ADHD community with some love, vent, and let them know that we are here for them. Although The Lucie Pod is not a replacement for actual professional medical advice, consider this episode an act of therapy for me and others. Let’s vent and talk about the impact of lockdown on people with ADHD and what we can do to help!

Wanna hear a joke? Hello, I’m ADHD, Hi ADHD, I’m Lucie. Get it? Because I am ADHD? Not funny. Okay… Anyways, today’s episode is all about ADHD and identity: How much of your personality can you base on your ADHD? Should you define yourself through your ADHD? Is ADHD something you have or something you are? To be or not to be, that is the question that I am going to address. There are no right or wrong answers but there are intentions behind these questions that may or may not be good for the neurodiverse community. Let’s talk about it!

It is not Valentine’s Day, but love is in the air, especially for those with ADHD! People with ADHD are capable of having loving, healthy and long-lasting romantic relationships, however, you wouldn’t know this because of the negative data and discourse surrounding ADHD and romantic relationships. Of course, relationships are hard no matter what, add ADHD it can be harder but also incredibly wonderful. Today’s episode is a conversation with my neurotypical boyfriend. We discuss the stigmas and myths surrounding dating someone with ADHD and we dispel them. I want this episode to reassure people with ADHD that they are capable of finding someone who will love and treasure them and that their ADHD is not a burden, it is a gift. It’s time we started talking about the positives of having an ADHD partner.

The world of ADHD diagnosis is complex and fascinating and there is no one better to talk about it than my amazing mother! She is the reason behind my diagnosis and is a wise neurotypical parent of an ADHD child. In today's episode we discuss the ADHD diagnosis process, my diagnosis, schooling an ADHD child and how parents of ADHD children can support themselves and their child. We also dispel the stigmas and tragedy attached to having a child with ADHD. Oh and fun fact: I never crawled!

This topic is very close to my heart as a young girl with ADHD who had a rocky time in her early school years. In this episode I explore the criminal under diagnosis of ADHD in girls and how the education system and medical world can better understand girls with ADHD so they do not slip through the cracks in terms of education, receiving a diagnosis and being able to excel in life. Furthermore, I share my experiences as an undiagnosed girl with ADHD in primary school and what not to do with ADHD students.

This is the final part of my “ADHD & Online Learning” series. In this episode I speak to my friend Cairo, a commerce student. Fresh out of the lockdown and done with online university it is time to reflect, vent and see what could've been done better! This episode explores the challenges students with ADHD have to face with online learning, are they unique to the neurodiversity community? Do neurotypicals feel the same? Well, I welcome my second guest Trent, my boyfriend, a neurotypical with whom I explore these questions with.

This is a second ‘audio book’ episode with a twist! I read another piece I wrote called ‘Now Tie Your Laces’ which explores my experience taking ADHD medication and the stigmas surrounding it. I also interview my father where he shares his thoughts on ADHD, ADHD medication and being the father of a girl with ADHD. WOW, how many times can you say the word ADHD in a sentence?

Think of this episode as trailer of my podcast. It was recorded in the depths of my boredom and despair during Victoria’s 2020 lockdown on some very amateur podcasting equipment. It is basically an elevator pitch for my podcast and a get to know me.
