HER GiST with Rashidondo: Recent Episodes

HER Gist

This series was created as a way to connect with and inspire my tribe who I affectionately call “Gistas mi owon”. I try to inspire people the best way I know how- by sharing valuable information and empowering messages with humor, mostly in a hilarious mix of Ondo dialect and English language. Hence, the slogan 'making you laugh seriously'.

Each week, listeners can expect: A new episode, that is either a Solo/Voice Journal or Witty Interview filled with comedy, funny moments and more.

So, get comfortable and let the gist fest begin.

"Maximum Flexibility required." That would be my answer if asked to describe my 2020 so thus far. Like many, this was supposed to my year of clarity, after all it's '2020' a symbolism of perfect vision. It would be the year that I would get crystal clear on my life's goals and forge further ahead on my path, both personal and professional. But then life had other plans. Big plans! In fact that I could not ignore. First a pandemic brought the world to a screeching halt, then global uprising in response to systemic and blatant racism and police brutality...and that was just on a global scale. What about within the privacy of our own space? On this episode of my journal, I share my thoughts and tips on how to live in the 'New Normal' that we have all found ourselves. A is for Accepting and Acknowledging. B- Be Intentional. D- Develop/Discover/Dedicate Time To You Hope this helps. Be well and stay safe.

Tosinger is a healing music and wellness creative artist. An actress/storyteller, writer and an Artpreneur, she’s based in Atlanta. Professionally as a freelance writer, she writes copies and edits for creative brands. But who is Tosinger? On this episode, we Laughed and Gisted about both her work as Healer through her works as a musician and now wellness entrepreneur. With almost 20 years musical experience Tosinger is a multi-genre indie singer/songwriter who has performed over the years across three continents. Her brand of aesthetics and Afro-flavored soulful, folksy style of singing reflects her African culture as she incorporates her Yoruba language and sayings on a contemporary musical platform to promote Africa in the diaspora. Her vocal essence has been described as soothing and uplifting and her voice displays a simple conveyance of heartfelt richness. Tosinger refers to her music as "healing music" Speaking of healing, Tosinger is also an Entrepreneur; and presently, she is tapping into the healing nature of her gifts and essence with the launch of her wellness line, Holistic Spritz. As a little girl, Tosinger grew up with her grandmother, something we have in common, and this was where her interest in herbal apothecary was born. She studied Grandmother's way with plants and herbs, a part of her artistry she's kept private. At least until the pandemic happened and she was inspired to release the  song, IRE; which she wrote to heal the world. The core message of the song "Retreat, Reset, Refresh" inspired Tosinger to go further than using just her voice, but also her hands to share and heal the world. More information on the website: www.holisticspritz.com You can also find Tosinger on her social media platforms as @Tosinger and her website is at  WWW.TOSINGER.COM

On this particular episode I get to be on the other side of the interview chair with Greg Ubigen, creator of the series The First Principles. This series breaks down information on topics (you think) you know, or may not know about into easy-to-understand concepts.  The goal is simple: We want you to live your best life... by breaking things down into simple first principles! On this virtual chat, you get to learn how I cope with self-doubt and the difference between tolerance and patience. I also share for the first time publicly my daily mantra that I live by, especially during periods in life where I am not sure exactly how to go about stuff! Keep your head up and just continue with your grind! The results will come.  This is 10mins with me, Rashidat (Rashidondo) F. Raji as I answer (5) basic questions:

What are your personal values What challenges have you faced in setting up/running this podcast, with being a wife, mum and other facets of your life? How have you applied these values in successfully dealing with these challenges? How has dealing with the challenges transform your personal qualities? How have you grown as a person? What would you tell your younger self based on what you have learned?

Oprah offers that 'Forgiveness' is "giving up hope that something could have happened differently."  Then there is the idea of 'Forgetting' You know the popular saying, Forgive AND Forget. Some scientific research offers that, we can train our minds to Forget, much like we train our minds to Forget. So that instead of vividly recalling painful past events, we simply forget them.  On this episode I chat with Greg Ubigen. Greg is many things to many people, one of them being the creative mind behind, The First Principles, a brand that stemmed from his passion for the mind and how it works, both in scientific and spiritual context. As a content creator, Greg hosts a YouTube channel, The First Principles, which offers bite size nuggets of Life's big ideas by breaking down information on topics (you think) you know, or may not know about into easy-to-understand concepts. The goal is simple, of course- help you live your best life... by breaking things down into simple first principles! During our time together,  we Gisted, we Laughed and definitely Grownded as we tackled one of life's big ideas- Forgiveness and Forgetting. Can we really Forget, in order to Forgive others... more importantly, do we even want to?

What would you do for #Love?

Before you answer that, let me be clear that I'm not just talking about any ol kinda Love. I mean the absolute love of SELF.

On this episode of the series, Re-InventHER I get to chat and explore this and more with Lola, a long time friend turned Sista. We chat about having the courage to walk away from all of the trappings that made everyone happy except HER. How she found the strength to stop answering other people's WHY, so she could answer HER own.

We Gisted, We Laughed and by the end of this episode, We Grownded even more, walking away with the realization, 'To Thine Own Self, BE KIND.'

This first of many episodes takes a realistic view of the 'goings ons' growing HER Gist by focusing on a rather low point.
