Most people understand the story of Jesus' Death, Burial and Resurrection. We tell it in many different ways during the month of April, but do we truly understand the WHY? Why did Jesus die for our sins and raise to life again? The WHY of the Gospel is so critical for us to understand. Jesus paid the debt we could not pay.

When we rely on our own strengths and abilities, we will be setting ourselves up for failure, frustration, and disappointment. God’s strength will sustain those who do not depend on their own abilities. As believers and servants of God, we must trust in God’s abilities all through this journey of life because His strength is made perfect in our weakness. It is through His strength we can be relieved of our burdens and soar on eagle's wings.

14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

15 Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.

16 For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually. — 2 Chronicles 7:14-16 (KJV)

  1. Praise and Thanksgiving

Praise God for how great He is. Praise God for the great things He does. Praise God for how He is affecting your personal life. Praise God for how He is affecting your family. Praise God for how He is affecting your church. Praise God for how He is affecting your friends. Praise God for how He is affecting your community. Praise God for how He is affecting your world.

  • Put what is preached and taught by your spiritual leadership into practice.

  • Be part of small groups and dream team and other opportunities for fellowship with God's people. Eating and fellowship were of major importance to the early church.

  • Communicate with God daily and make prayer time relational time.

Prayer on Saturday mornings is how we come together to prepare for our weekends. We can plan and prepare, but first, PRAYER!

Pray in the evening. “I will bless the Lord who counsels me; he gives me wisdom in the night. He tells me what to do.” (Psalm 16:7 TLB)

Evening is the time God uses to impart wisdom and prepare you for rest. It is an opportunity to release to Him all the stress and tension that may have crept in unnoticed through the course of the day. If you missed the mark in any way, evening prayer is also the time to confess any sin and ask the Lord for forgiveness.

Take time to clarify Your Vision with Evening Prayer and a Short Devotional Reading

Praying at night closes the events
of the day. After spending time with the Lord this way, you can rest knowing
that God looks after you as you sleep. You look forward to each new day with a
clearer vision of His Purpose and the actions to take.

How is God prompting you to pray in the evening? What approach is He using?

Prayer on Saturday mornings is how we come together to prepare for our weekends. We can plan and prepare, but first, PRAYER!

Let’s Pray at Noon

“Tell me, O one I love, where are you leading your flock today? Where will you be at noon?” (Song of Solomon 1:7)

“Where will you be at noon?” Noonday is usually a busy time, and it may be difficult to quiet your mind or break away for prayer. Lunch breaks filled with people and meetings clamoring for attention while you digest your food are commonplace today.

Try Noontime Prayer and Devotional Reading

Do you find the idea of praying at noontime challenging?

Most people these days have access to the internet or own a smart-phone. There are many apps available that allow you to keep track of your prayers and notes electronically or set reminders to pray and read devotional messages whenever it is convenient. If you don’t have access to this technology, don’t lose heart! A simple, heartfelt prayer whispered while eating lunch or a few minutes spent in quiet meditation during an afternoon break will
replenish the spiritual and mental energy that a hectic morning may have
depleted.

Where will YOU be at noon? How will you find more chances to pray?

During our 21 days of prayer and fasting in January we will have zoom prayer meetings every day Monday through Friday at noon that you can join in.

PSALM 100 (A Psalm of Thanksgiving)

1 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.

2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. —Psalm 100:1-5 (KJV)

PSALM 100

In The New Living Translation it is titled…“A Psalm for Thanksgiving.” This is the only psalm with this title. “Thanksgiving” can also refer to a “thank offering.” The thank offering was for when someone was overwhelmed with the depth of gratitude to the LORD. So, if God does some amazing thing in your life, this is a psalm that could turn to. It will give you words for your overwhelming gratitude.

1 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

How can you joyfully serve the LORD? What you need is verse three. You need to ….

Psalm 100:3 – Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Here is the Hebrew understanding, The “LORD” is in all capital letters and this is God’s proper name. You must know that Yahweh Himself is God. He alone is the true and living God over all the earth. There is no one else.

To joyfully serve, you need to know the LORD.

Not only must you know that Yahweh is God, but also from verse 3, you must know that He is the One who made us, not we ourselves. He is our creator. Know that He has made us.

Know that we are His people, His sheep (He is our sustainer)

Not only is He our Creator, He is also our sustainer.

IF WE REALLY KNOW THE LORD THEN WE SHOULD PRESENT ourselves gladly to the LORD for service and worship!!

Same kind of command that Paul gives to the Romans in Romans 12:1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

“What does this spiritual service of worship looks like.” That’s Romans 12:2, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”

In Psalm 100, we understand that these verses would apply to us in that we are to know the LORD and that as we increase in our intimate knowledge of who God is, we will serve Him with gladness and joy. We will know that we did not make ourselves, but that He made us that we are His people the sheep of His pasture.

It works the same way with verses four and five. Verse four emphasizes the idea of Thanksgiving.

Psalms 100:4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

But how will you thankfully enter into His courts? By, verse five, knowing something. You must know the LORD. Thankfully serve Him … Psalm 100:5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth (loving-kindness in another translation) endureth to all generations.

So, to serve the LORD thankfully or joyfully, you first must know Him. Psalm 100

The KEY to serving GOD with all your heart and being FILLED WITH JOY AND THANKSGIVING every day of the year doing it is very simple…you have got to KNOW GOD, and how good He is.

Prayer on Saturday mornings is how we come together to prepare for our weekends. We can plan and prepare, but first, PRAYER!

Rejoice (one minute) – praise God for what He has done, is doing, and is getting ready to do in world revival.

Review (five minutes) – read books, magazines, other literature and most of all the scriptures to learn all you can about the nature of revival, its impact on missions and its current manifestation around the world. What is discovered during these five minutes helps create more meaning for what you do with the other ten minutes.

Repent (one minute) – take time each day to confess to God on your behalf, and on behalf of the whole church, the specific ways in which we are hindering world revival.

Resist (one minute) – target in prayer those points where Satan is attempting to undermine the life and the mission of the church, so as to diminish the potential for local and world revival.

Request (five minutes) – drawing from the vast reservoir of Biblical promises, intercede for full revival in the church – both your own and in other nations.

Recommit (one minute) – reflect on all that you have learned from the Lord and all that you have said to Him, and commit yourself back to Him to be used in answer to your prayers, whatever the cost. Also, recommit to set the pace for others to pray with you in the same direction.

Record (one minute) – keep a journal to record whatever you sense God has said to you as a result of the previous fourteen minutes. What new understandings has He given you of revival? What new directions has He given for prayer? What new steps of obedience has He called you to take as a result of praying? How has He encouraged you to set the pace for others? Over a period of time, this journal will provide tremendous encouragement, not only about your praying but about how God is working in response to your prayers.

Prayer on Saturday mornings is how we come together to prepare for our weekends. We can plan and prepare, but first, PRAYER!

Praying Through The Tabernacle Plan (Heaven to Earth: The Tabernacle Today)

THE TABERNACLE In Exodus, Chapters 25-31, God gave detailed instructions to Moses on Mt. Sinai for building the Tabernacle to house His presence. The Tabernacle was a tent-like structure inside a rectangular courtyard, facing East, surrounded by a fence made of pillars and linen hangings, and covered as area 45’ long, and 15’ wide, with a 15’ high covering. In the outer courtyard were the brazen alter nearest the entrance, and the laver of water. Inside the tent were the Holy Place (housing the candlestick, the table of shewbread, and the golden altar of incense) and the Holy of Holies (where the Ark of the Covenant rested). In and above the Holy of Holies, God appeared as a pillar of cloud or fire. Each article of furniture represents a different prayer focus that has a unique meaning corresponding with its original purpose defined by God, and a place in the “types and shadows” that exist between the Old and New Testaments.

STEP 1 - THE GATE Here, we enter into His gate with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise (Psalm 100:4).

PRAYER FOCUS: We begin here. Thank God for every blessing and praise Him for His mighty acts.

STEP 2 - THE BRAZEN ALTER For sinful man to even approach a holy God, there must be a blood sacrifice. Jesus died as an atonement for our sins. The brazen alter is where we repent and rid ourselves of sinful deeds and desires.

PRAYER FOCUS: No one can repent for us. Jesus became our sacrifice so we could receive the gift of repentance. At the alter we search our hearts, acknowledge our sins, and ask God to forgive us.

STEP 3 - THE LAVER OF WATER Once sins were atoned for, cleansing was necessary before serving in the Holy Place. We must daily look into the mirror of; be washed by; and apply His word as cleansing so we may serve and minister before Him.

PRAYER FOCUS: Here we take time to read and meditate on God’s Word and allow it to wash over us and through us. When we examine ourselves with his Word as our guide, the Word will sanctify and cleanse us. STEP 4 - THE FIVE PILLARS Each pillar symbolizes one of the characteristics of God named by Isaiah.

PRAYER FOCUS: “His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). Pray for a revelation of the power of and for the office of each name to be present in our lives.

STEP 5 - THE GOLDEN CANDLESTICK This oil is symbolic of the illuminating and revelatory power of the Holy Ghost. The priest’s duty was to keep the wicks trimmed so the lamp would exude pure light without smoke.

PRAYER FOCUS: At this source of continuous shinning light ask God for spiritual revelation, direction and guidance. Pray for the anointing of the Holy Ghost to be active in our lives. Jesus said “I am the light of the world...” (John 8:12).

STEP 6 - THE TABLE OF SHEWBREAD The table/bread symbolized God’s willingness to fellowship with man and him to be in His presence.

PRAYER FOCUS: “I am the bread of life...” (John 6:35, 49-50). This bread of His presence is the “rhema” (God -breathed) Word of God to us. Ask God to speak to our hearts and allow us to commune with Him and hear His voice and follow Him. Pray for those who share His bread with us: missionaries, pastors, evangelists and church leaders.

STEP 7 - THE GOLDEN ALTAR OF INCENSE Only the fire of repentance can burn the incense of our intercession. This is a symbol of our prayers and intercession going up to God as a sweet fragrance.

PRAYER FOCUS: “Let my prayer be sent forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice” (Psalm 141:2). Here the incense offered is symbolic of our worship. After worship, we make intercession for others and for any situation in our lives that requires His intervention. Biblically, Jesus ever makes intercession for us. The golden altar of incense is where every request can be presented to a prayer-answering God.

STEP 8 - THE VEIL It represents the flesh of Jesus rent in the final sacrifice and marked physical separation from the spiritual. Whoever went in the Holy of Holies entered into God’s very presence.

PRAYER FOCUS: The veil is symbolic of the barrier of our flesh. Here we ask God to give us power to go beyond ourselves, to operate not on our own faith but on God’s faith. Meditate on the revelation of the name of Jesus and acknowledge Him as the Messiah - God manifest in the flesh as testified in the gospels. We enter into His presence.

STEP 9 - THE HOLY OF HOLIES Inside the Holy of Holies was the Ark of the Covenant which contained three symbolic items: a golden pot of manna, Aaron’s staff that budded, and the stone containing the Ten Commandments. The Mercy Seat, where God communed with man, rested as the top of the ark. Because the ark was God’s throne among His people, it was a symbol of His presence and power.

PRAYER FOCUS: Only the blood gives us access to the Holy of Holies. The Ten Commandments (The Law) is covered by the blood of the sacrifice. There is only mercy. We are free and without judgment. This is the place of intimacy with God. Now we may act in the authority represented by Aaron’s rod that budded. Through Christ, we take authority over things that work against us. We are surrounded by angels, and the miracle of the manna reminds us that whatever we need, He will supply.

PRAYING OVER THE CHURCH

  1. Pastor & Leaders – Lord, I lift up my pastor and leaders to You. Thank You for giving them a servant’s heart. Keep them from losing heart when ministry gets tough. Help them prove faithful with the things you have entrusted to them. Teach them Your ways so that they knows You and find favor with You as they leads us. Keep them open and honest before You and help them to represent the truth plainly. (2 Cor. 4:1; 1 Cor. 4:1-3 Ex. 33:13)

  2. Adults – Lord, I lift up the adults in my congregation to You. May we live worthy of Your call on our lives. As we respond to that call, fulfill every purpose, every faith-filled act of service by Your power. May we be clothed in righteousness with hearts that sing for joy and delight greatly in You. We want to walk with You, Jesus, dressed in white, adorned with jewels. (Eph. 4:1; 2 Thes. 1:11; Ps. 132:9; Isa. 61:10; Rev. 3:4)

  3. Children/Youth – Lord, I lift up the children and youth in my congregation to You. May the little ones remain humble examples of what we adults need to become in the kingdom. Let their conduct always be pure and right with reputations that show that they remember You, Creator God. Teach them to declare Your marvelous deeds. May they flee evil desires and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace. (Matt 18:3-4; Prov. 20:11; Eccl. 12:1; Ps. 71:17; 2 Tim. 2:22)

  4. Seniors – Lord, I lift up the senior members of our congregation. Thank You for every gray hair attained by righteous living. We are blessed by their example and ability to train us. Help us to be humbly submissive as we benefit from their wisdom and understanding. Help them receive the strength and power You’ve promised to the weary and weak. May they put their hope in You and be renewed in the process. (Prov. 16:31; Titus 2:4; 1 Pet. 5:5; Job 12:12; Isa. 40:29, 31)

  5. Lost Among Us – Lord, I lift up the lost members of our congregation. Let the gospel be presented to them not only through the sermon but also with power, the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. Teach us to make the most of every opportunity to share Your salvation. Help us to be the fragrance of Christ to them. We stand against the enemy and his attempts to keep them blinded to Your truth. (1 Thes. 1:5; Col. 4:5; 2 Cor. 2:15; 2 Cor. 4:4)

  6. Worship Leaders – Lord, I lift up our worship leaders. Appoint people to this position who understand the splendor of Your holiness and praise You out of that understanding. Help them lead us faithfully in thanks for Your enduring love. Use their praise to defeat the enemy. May they be the true worshipers You are looking for who worship in spirit and in truth. Let them glory only in You, Jesus, so that they put no confidence in their own flesh. (2 Chron. 20:21-22; Jn. 4:23-24; Phil. 3:3)

  7. Speakers/Teachers – Lord, I lift up the speakers and teachers in our church. May everyone who holds that position—pastors, teachers, lifegroup leaders, guest speakers—rightly divide Your word of truth. Let them admonish and teach with wisdom. Reveal the mysteries of Your word to them and encourage them to speak those mysteries courageously and fearlessly. Let them speak with a spirit of faith that springs from their relationship with You. (2 Tim. 2:15; Col. 1:28; Dan. 2:47; Phil. 1:14; 2 Cor. 4:13)

  8. Women’s Ministry – Lord, I lift up our Women’s Ministry. Encourage our older women to train the younger in family issues. Teach our women to be virtuous—women with gentle and quiet spirits who put their hope in You. Let this ministry produce women who feel Your passion for them and who choose to spend time at Your feet. Train them to contend for the gospel side by side with the men. (Titus 2:4, 5; Pro. 31:10; 1 Pet. 3:4, 5; Ps. 45:11; Lk. 10:38-42; Phil. 4:3)

  9. Men’s Ministry – Lord, I lift up our Men’s Ministry to You. Use this ministry to build our men in their faith. Teach them to be in right relationship to You and each other, to love their wives sacrificially and to instruct their children with patience. Encourage them to hold each other accountable as they carry each other’s burdens. May they speak the truth in love to each other even when its hard. (Jude 1:20; Titus 2:2; 1 Tim. 5:1; Eph. 5:25, 6:4; Gal. 6:2; Eph. 4:15; Prov. 27:6)

  10. Youth Workers – Lord, I lift up our Youth Workers. Let these young men and women set an example in their speech, life, love, faith and purity. Cause them to be strong, alive-in-the-Word overcomers. Help them to have discernment as they deal with the young people in our church. Help them to notice any youth who lacks judgment so they can teach them to value Your life-giving principles. Pour out Your Spirit on them. (1 Tim. 4:12; 1 Jn 2:14; Prov. 3:21, 7:7; 7:2; Joel 2:28).

  11. Single parents – Lord, I lift up the single parents in our church. May they know You as father to the fatherless and defender of widows! Let us be a real family to them when they are lonely. Show us ways to include them and minister grace to them. Stir up practical ideas in us that show Your love and care. Help them relax in Your grace and provision which is more than enough for every weakness and need. (Ps. 68:5, 6; 25:16; Matt. 25:35-40; 2 Cor. 12:9; Phil. 4:19)

  12. Behind-the-Scenes Workers – Lord, I lift up the people who work behind the scenes at our church. Thank You for every nursery worker, parking lot attendant, office volunteer, building janitor, etc. who has devoted themselves to the service of the saints. Bless them for the obedience and generosity they have displayed—may You receive praise as a result! Keep them in an attitude of humility that comes from wisdom and wholehearted service to You rather than to be noticed by others. (1 Cor. 16:15; 2 Cor. 9:12-13; Jas. 3:13; Eph. 6:7)

  13. Spiritual Gifts – Lord, I lift up the use of spiritual gifts in our church. We eagerly desire spiritual gifts that You’ve given for our common good. Help us understand the various gifts and how they work. Teach us to use what we’ve received to serve others and faithfully administer Your grace—whatever form that takes. Help us exercise our gifts in love. Remind us to keep fanning into flame the gifts You’ve entrusted to us. (1 Cor. 14:1, 12:4-7;1 Pet. 4:10; 2 Tim. 1:6)

  14. Help for the Hurting – Lord, I lift up those who are hurting right now. May they come to know You as El Roi, the God who sees them. For every situation of rejection, help them feel sonship. Bind up the brokenhearted! In every area of bondage, set the captives free; in every case of mourning, replace it with Your oil of gladness. Comfort them so that they will have a ministry of comfort to others. (Gen. 16:13; Ro. 8:15; Isa. 61:1-3; 2 Cor. 1:3-4)

  15. Freedom from besetting sins – Lord, I lift up every one of us who struggle with sin issues. Keep us from the enemy’s scheme of condemnation. Grant us repentance so that we can escape the trap of the evil one. Thank You that sin was done away with on the cross and that we are no longer slaves to it. Help us to throw off everything that entangles—help us run the race with perseverance. (Ro. 8:1; 2 Tim. 2:25, 26; Ro. 6:6; Heb. 12:1)

  16. Kingdom focus/priorities – Lord, I lift up our priorities as a congregation. Give us ears to hear what Your Spirit is saying to our church. Open our eyes to see things as You see them. Help us move beyond issues of immediate need to pursuing Kingdom issues. Bring us to a place where “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” is more than just words we say. (Rev. 3: 22; 2 Ki. 6:17; Matt. 6:25, 33, 10)

  17. Our neighborhood – Lord, I lift up our community, especially the surrounding neighborhoods. Let us love these people as we love ourselves. May our concern for their needs override other things that take our time and focus. Rebuild and restore areas that have been devastated. Renew our community—send Your peace and prosperity into this place where You’ve planted us. Bless each individual home and family. Build each house from the inside out; watch over our city. (Gal. 5:14; Prov. 3:28; Isa. 61:4; Jer. 29:7; Lk 10:5-6; Ps. 127:1)

  18. The Church in our city – Lord, I lift up the Church in our city. Thank You for creating the body as one unit made up of many parts. Help us understand the value of each part as You have arranged them. We confess that we’ve minimized other parts. Forgive us, for we are all baptized by one Spirit into one body. Help us to work at being one: concerned about one another—suffering with and rejoicing with other congregations as appropriate. (1 Cor. 12:12-26)

  19. The Church in our nation – Lord, I lift up the Church in our nation. We humbly unite and confess as one people—one Church called by Your name—that we have sinned. We’ve operated out of acquired wealth thinking we could do it on our own—but we are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. We seek Your face, O God! Thank You for hearing and forgiving us. We wait on You for the healing of our land! (2 Chron. 7:14; Rev. 3:17)

  20. The Church around the world – Lord, I lift up the Church universal. Father, we claim the power of Your name over us so that we will be one, as You and Your Son are one. We want Your joy in full measure just as Your Son, Jesus, prayed for us. Help us live as though we are not of this world; sanctify us by Your word. May we be brought to complete unity so that the world will know the truth of the gospel. (Jn. 17:11-23)

  21. Protection from the Enemy – Lord, I lift up our need for protection. Protect and deliver us from the evil one. Help us be as wise as serpents and as innocent as doves as we deal with the wolves around us. Show us how to test every spirit to see if they are from You. Help us recognize the enemy’s disguises and schemes so that he won’t outwit us. (Jn. 17:15; Matt. 6:13; Matt. 10:14; 1 Jn.. 4:1; 2 Cor. 11:14; 2:11)

Special Missions Service with Missionaries Lynne Jewett to Guatemala and Colleen Carter to Gabon. About the Missionaries: Lynne Jewett Lynne first went to Guatemala in 1989 as an AIMer under the supervision of Bro. T. W. Drost. In 1992 she followed the Drost family to Mexico where she worked in the national office, Bible school and children's ministries for seven years. She eventually returned to her "first love", Guatemala.

She became a fully appointed missionary in 1996 and has been working in Bible schools and children's ministries ever since. In 2002, she was appointed as the children's ministries coordinator for the Central American & Caribbean Region. She has traveled to many nations promoting children's ministries, teaching seminars and holding children's crusades. Her goal has been to see Sunday school established in every Pentecostal church in the region.

In 2003 she received her career missionary appointment after serving for fourteen years. Most of those years, she has had the privilege to work side by side with Brad and Regina Thompson, who she feels are great missionaries and true friends. She has served as a Bible school administrator for nearly twenty years, with over 500 Bible school students each year and twenty-four schools in operation around the country.

This past term she began a new adventure with the establishment of an orphanage. HOME International (A Home for Orphans, Ministry and Education), received their first child in October 2016. HOME is a fully accredited children's home working with Child Protective Services for the abused and abandoned children of Guatemala. This has literally been a dream come true! Sis. Lynne was an orphaned child from New Brunswick, Canada, that the Lord has used to provide a place of healing to every child that steps through the doors of HOME.

Colleen Carter Colleen Carter was on the Associate In Missions program for eight years to Ghana, West Africa, with the Jim Poitras and Nick Sisco families. As an AIMer, Colleen helped with MK schooling, taught at ACTS Ghana, operated the Pass the Word printing office, was involved in Reaching Africa’s Children while assisting the missionaries in many other ways.

She received her intermediate missionary appointment to Ghana in September 2007. After deputation and upon arrival in 2010, she continued the aforementioned tasks. In 2012 she moved to the north where she resided in Tamale for almost six years. She assisted with the growth of the church primarily throughout the three northern regions while working to further growth throughout the nation as a whole. Colleen taught at the extension Bible school in Tamale, coordinated the Pass the Word printing office, and was involved in training adults and children throughout the northern regions. She served as the northern regional Children’s Ministry director and the northern regional ACTS representative.

In June 2014 she received her Bachelor of Arts in Religious Education through distance education with Global University, Springfield, MO. At the beginning of her second term in 2015, Colleen upgraded to career missionary. She continued with the aforementioned tasks and also ministered at the female prison in Tamale. In November 2017, she relocated back to the capital city of Accra. She continues to fulfill her numerous duties while teaching again at ACTS Ghana.

She is the Bible Quizzing Coordinator for the nation, and also serves as the West Africa Sub-regional missions secretary/treasurer and the Africa Aflame literature coordinator. In September 2018, Regional Teaching Ministry was added to Colleen’s appointment. And in 2019 her field was changed to Gabon. Her profound love for teaching God’s Word is now spanning nations of the Africa region. Colleen Carter is originally from New Brunswick, Canada.

Prayer on Saturday mornings is how we come together to prepare for our weekends. We can plan and prepare, but first, PRAYER! THE PRAYER OF JABEZ Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that You would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let Your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request. 1 CHRONICLES 4:10 The Prayer of Jabez is a helpful model of a prayer we can pray every day. 1. BLESSING

Jabez begins his prayer by asking God for His blessing. We need more of God’s blessing to be better equipped to make a difference for His Kingdom. We need more provision, more spiritual gifting, more wisdom, and greater understanding so that we can bless others with what God has given us. James 4:2-3 tells us, “You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” God wants to bless us, but He is often waiting for us to ask with the right heart. We have a big God, and we can be bold in asking for His blessing. As James points out, God sees our heart, and we get His attention when we ask for blessing with the motivation to help others.

“Oh, that You would bless me...”1 CHRONICLES 4:10

Ask God for His blessing. Recognize your need for His provision, and set your heart toward wanting more than you need so that you can be a blessing to others.

PRAYER: “God, I pray that You would bless me with more than I need so that I can bless others. I pray for more provision, that You would equip me to give generously to others and meet their practical needs in Your Name. I ask You to give me greater spiritual gifting so that I can strengthen the Church and be more effective for the Kingdom of God. I pray for an abundance of wisdom and discernment so that I can point others to You and make decisions that honor You. I ask You to help me grow in understanding of Your truth and Your heart for people so I can do my part to bring Your Kingdom to earth. Help me keep Your generous blessings in perspective, so that I never become self-serving but stay focused on using what You’ve given me to serve other people.”

  1. INFLUENCE

Next, Jabez asks for more influence. As God’s blessings increase in our lives, we ask for and experience greater opportunity to influence the world around us for Him. God has the power to bless us greatly, and He also has the power to open doors of opportunity for us to make a difference. We want to walk through doors that only He can open, and He responds when we specifically ask Him to give us more influence for His Name. “Enlarge my territory...” 1 CHRONICLES 4:10 Pray for more influence. Knowing that God can make a way, trust in Him to open doors and lead you on the best path for your life and for His glory. Ask Him for boldness to take the steps He lays out for you.

PRAYER: “God, make me effective in my sphere of influence, and open new doors for me to be able to impact and reach even more people for Your glory. Give me a heart to make a difference in the lives of people I have never reached out to before and boldness to walk in obedience to Your calling. Help me to be a good steward of the responsibility You’ve entrusted to me. I pray for greater territory to impact for Your glory.”

  1. PRESENCE

In order to have lasting influence, we need God’s presence in our lives. Through His power at work within us, God can do more than we could ever ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). As we ask for blessing and influence, we also need to ask for His presence as Jabez did so that we are not operating out of our own strength but through the presence and the hand of our Almighty God.

“Let Your hand be with me...”1 CHRONICLES 4:10

In humility, acknowledge your need for God’s presence. Depend on Him and ask for more of Him in your life today.

PRAYER: “Lord, I know that without You, I am nothing. I cannot do what You’ve called me to do on my own. I am desperate for Your presence in my life. I depend on You completely. I recognize that the same Spirit that raised Christ Jesus from the dead lives in me. Through the power of Your Spirit, I pray that You will help me succeed in the opportunities You’ve given me. Thank You for being with me. I would never want to face today without You.”

  1. PROTECTION

Finally, Jabez asks the Lord to protect him. If we are influencing the world for Jesus, we must understand the enemy will try to stop us. This leads us to pray that God will not only help us if the enemy attacks, but that He will protect us from the enemy attacking us in the first place. Jesus has already won the victory, so we don’t need to fear destruction. God promises to be with us and protect us, and because He is with us, we have nothing to fear.

“Keep me from harm” 1 CHRONICLES 4:10 Trust God to protect you. Tell Him specific areas where you feel the need for His protection and ask Him to cover areas that you can’t yet see.

PRAYER: “God, as I walk out the purpose You have for my life, I pray that You will stop any and every attack of the enemy against me. Please protect my body, my mind, and my emotions. Don’t let the enemy get a foothold in my life. I pray, too, that You will protect my family and community from harm. I know that the One who is in me is greater than the one who is in the world, so I have nothing to fear. Thank You for watching over me. I love You and I trust You.”

Prayer on Saturday mornings is how we come together to prepare for our weekends. We can plan and prepare, but first, PRAYER!

How to Pray for the Lost

We can win anyone for whom God gives us a burden. If God burdens our heart for a soul it is evident that He intends to save that soul. It is also evident that He desires to work through us as the human vessel since He gave us the burden. Many times the soul is actually won in prayer. It is one thing to pray, it is another thing to “pray right”. Here are seven pointers for praying for the lost to be saved:

Pray Believingly Mark 11:24 “Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”

Prayer is the key, but faith unlocks the door. We must pray believing that God is working in the sinner’s heart and preparing him for our visit.

Pray Realizing That With God All Things Are Possible Mark 10:27 “And Jesus looking upon them saith, with men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.”

Recognize God in the picture, for nothing is too hard for God. In our praying most of us never get beyond human limitations and boundaries. We whittle God down to our own size and power. We are like the woman who said, “It’s no use to talk to my husband. He won’t listen to me.”

Pray Asking the Soul to Be Saved For God’s Glory John 14:13 “Whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”

We should not pray for a soul to be saved that they may be a better husband or wife. This is selfish praying. We should pray for souls to be saved so they will no longer dishonor God in their sins. Our great concern should be that they will stop trampling over the precious blood of Christ and stop spurning God’s love. This should be the real motive in soul winning rather than to put another “notch” on our belt, or add a few more figures to our report.

Pray Beseeching God to Awaken Them Matthew 13:13, 15 “because they seeing, see not, and hearing, they hear not, neither do they understand. For this people’s heart is become gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed . . . “

Every sinner needs the Holy Spirit to reveal his sinful condition. Then Christ will be revealed to the heart. We should pray that the Holy Spirit will “quicken” their conscience, plow up their heart, and ring conviction in their soul. We should pray that God will give them “hearing ears” and “believing hearts.” Pray that God shall open their understanding.

Pray Claiming That Soul Which the Blood of Christ Has Purchased II Timothy 2:26 “And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”

In our sense every soul is God’s purchased possession, though still held by Satan through unbelief. We must through prayer claim and take for God that which is rightfully His. This is praying on the ground of redemption.

Pray Claiming the Tearing Down Of Satan’s Strongholds in That Soul II Corinthians 10:4 “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.”

The Devil has built up lies, false doctrine, stumbling blocks and many other strongholds in the minds of the unsaved to keep them from receiving Christ. He has them blinded lest the light of the glorious gospel should shine unto them. We must through prayer rebuke the Devil and claim the tearing down of his lies and warped ideas that are keeping the sinner from trusting Christ as Savior. We must exercise our authority in Christ.

Pray Perseveringly Luke 18:7 “shall not God avenge his own elect, who cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?”

Perseverance is “not giving up.” We persevere not to persuade God, but because of the enemy. In persistent intercession we are pushing back the forces of evil. We are getting the Devil off of God’s territory. Daniel prayed for three weeks before he received his answer from God, though the Scripture says that God answered his prayer on the first day. Daniel spent three weeks wrestling with the forces of evil and hanging on to God in order that he might receive his “package.”

Now go pray for that lost soul that God has laid on your heart, claiming these truths.

Prayer on Saturday mornings is how we come together to prepare for our weekends. We can plan and prepare, but first, PRAYER!

Prayer for Revelation

“Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden, which you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3

Lord, show me a revelation of Your Word and Your will. Cause the obscure and confusing things to become clear to me. Expound my current understanding of Your Word to deeper levels of insight and application. Give me a definite understanding of what Your Word means, and how I am to apply it to my life, in my time and my culture. Cause me to see the world through its truths instead of the image the world wishes me to see. Reveal Your will to me so I will know how to pray effectively both for Your cause and for my own life, causing me to come into alignment with You, where I am fruitful and blessed.

Lord, show me a revelation of Your ways. Teach me the things You like and desire. Teach me how You like to be worshipped and served. Cause me to understand reasons why You do the things you do, and what You desire to still yet do. Let this understanding breed delight in the deepest places of my soul, causing me to hunger even more after Your Spirit and Your Word, day and night. Make me to become satisfied each time I spend time in Your Word and Your presence, where all other things that used to satisfy fail to fill me any longer. Cause my mind to think on Your ways throughout my day, and see life through Your eyes.

Lord, show me a revelation of Your glory. Reveal to me things You have done – the miracles, signs, and wonders – no matter how big or small they might seem. Cause me to search for Your glory, not just happen upon it. Reveal how You work in nature, through our senses, life experiences, and through others, where I am aware of it and become a verbal witness of it. Let me not steal Your glory by claiming ownership of Your work, or by withholding honor that is due You. Affect me with Your glory! As I meditate on it, let it leave me in awe and wonder, and with a hunger to see more of it, where it saturates my thinking, my words, and my prayers. Let Your glory create a deepset joy in my heart, knowing that You are my Father – You are absolutely pure, good, and beyond sufficient explanation – and I am Your child!

Lord, show me a revelation of the work of the enemy. Cause me to become aware of how, when, and where the enemy is at work. Cause me to know when others are causing chaos as opposed to when the enemy is attacking. Let my discernment be accurate and my intuition be acute. Reveal the tactics and strategy of the enemy, and the hidden plans and traps that lay in wait so I can evade destruction by Your wisdom. Cause me to see the smokescreen of deception the enemy displays to get me off focus and in despair. Cause me to discern the voice of the enemy and know which of Your Words to fight back with. Your Word is my weapon, and I therefore I will declare it! Give me understanding of how and when to respond when the enemy comes against those I am close to. Let me not react with haste or emotion, but rather with Your perfect timing and strategy. Cause me to remember that in the end You win. No matter how strong the battle, no matter how long the fight, no matter how often the enemy claims victory, no matter how much carnage I see, I will remember that You are God of the Living and not the dead. You are the Almighty and You will NOT give Your glory to another!

The Wise are Prepared - The Foolish are Occupied with other things, but miss the MAIN THING The Bible - uses OIL as a symbol of the Holy Ghost or the Spirit of God in our lives...We need to have the anointing oil of the Holy Ghost topped off in our lives at all times. If we are sleeping or unaware - like the people in Noah’s day who KNEW NOT - until it was too late...or like the FOOLISH Virgins in Matthew 25 — the door was shut, there were no second chances then - WE WILL MISS OUR OPPORTUNITY because there will not be any second chances when Jesus returns. The chameleon is the master of disguise. No matter what environment it is placed in, it will change its color to fit in. One of the fundamental aspects of being a Christian, however, is that we should be easily identifiable. But for many, rather than stand out, we would prefer to just blend in with our surroundings. The problem is that we end up looking, sounding, and acting just like the world around us. In doing so, we lose all the marks of being a follower of Jesus. Honoring Our Heroes - Missionaries Robert & Lisbeth Dame Robert Dame was born and raised in New Hampshire and is a graduate of Indiana Bible College. He served in the countries of Argentina and Guatemala on the Associates In Missions program. It was in Guatemala that he met his wife Lisbeth after his fifth AIM trip. Lisbeth was born and raised in Guatemala City, Guatemala, where she began to be involved in teaching Sunday school at the age of twelve. She worked as a volunteer, ministering to the children and families who lived and worked at the Guatemala dump. Many children received the gospel and found a better life through her work. After graduating from the university there, Sis. Dame returned to continue the campus ministry she had started as a student. When they married, the Dameses founded and pastored the Spanish daughter work in Houma, Louisiana. After pastoring there for five years they left to serve as missionaries to Bolivia in 2004. The Dameses are now working extensively in the prison ministry, preaching the gospel at the men’s, women’s, and juvenile prisons, as well as ministering to the children who live in the prisons with their parents. The Dameses now pastor the church they founded in February 2012, where several families who were baptized in the prisons now attend. On Sundays they pick up twenty-five children from the prison and take them to Sunday school.

Join in with us as we wrap up our two weeks of focused fasting and prayer and the 24-hour prayer chain. We are going to have an exciting time of prayer, praise, and worship as we look expectantly toward what God is about to do in our church, in our families, and in our community! Thank You for Joining Us.

Pray This Every Day

This day in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I loose the spirit of the fear of the Lord to dwell on every person in Radcliff and Hardin county, and I say that the favor of the Almighty God will be blessed upon me, on my family, and on my church family and it will happen today in the name of Jesus Christ!

Lord Jesus, this day I cover myself and my family and our finances - I cover them this day with the covering of the Spirit, of the blood, and of prayer, and with the shield of faith.

Lord Jesus, I cover everything that you have placed in my hands. I cover everything on this property and I cover everything, every person that will come on this property with the covering of the Spirit, of the blood, and of prayer, and with the shield of faith.

I cover my church, I cover all of our church members, everyone coming into and connected with the church with a covering of the Spirit, of the blood, and prayer, and the shield of faith.

I pray for the leaders of Radcliff, and Hardin county, our nation, and around the world. Lord Jesus this day I’m asking you to give them wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.

Give them a heart of peace and not a heart of war.

I pray for my Spiritual Authority, Pastor Dummitt, and his family, and the leadership of my church. I cover them with a covering of the Spirit, of the blood of Jesus, and of prayer, and the shield of faith.

Lord Jesus, this day I bind every principality, every power, every ruler of the darkness of this world, every spiritual wickedness in high places in Radcliff and in Hardin county. I bind these things by the authority and by the power of the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

When a strong man armed keepeth in his palace, his goods are in peace: but when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils. —Luke 11:21–22

Lord Jesus, this day I bind the strongman of Radcliff and Hardin county and by the authority and power of the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I loose the goods and the souls of his house to come into the Kingdom of God by the Authority and Power and Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word.

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;) —2 Corinthians 10:4

Lord Jesus this day I take down, dismember, and cast to the ground the stronghold of fear, anxiety, and panic attacks. I cast them down and tell them to stay down by the authority and power of the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

This day in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I bind the stronghold of a poverty mentality and a welfare mentality and I in return will loose a spirit and attitude of progressiveness, a desire to earn their own way, a desire to take care of their own families. I loose that in Radcliff and Hardin county right now in the name of Jesus Christ.

I Bind the stronghold of low and no self-esteem and I loose the spirit and attitude now of confidence, I loose the spirit and attitude of boldness. I loose the spirit and attitude of progressiveness I do it in the name and by the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I bind the stronghold of addiction (drugs, alcohol, tobacco, gambling, immorality, and whatever else.) I bind it in the name of Jesus.

I bind every stronghold of lust, perversion, pornography, dishonesty, greed, jealousy, envy.

I bind the strongholds of tradition and false doctrine and cast them down. I bind these things and by the authority of the word of God and the power of Jesus' name I throw them down and I loose the opposite of that to rule and reign in Radcliff, and Hardin county in the name of Jesus Christ.

Thank you, Jesus, this is done today in the name of Jesus!!

The greatest love story ever told was not written by man, but it was lived out in the life of Jesus. As the song states…Jesus paid it all. There was no way we could ever hope to have eternal life or a relationship with the Almighty God of the universe. So He took it upon Himself to become a man and die for our sins as the perfect sacrifice on Calvary. He did this for us because we could not do it for ourselves. He didn’t have to do it - but in doing this - He demonstrates His incredible, amazing love. (ROMANS 5) Thank you for joining us online and in-person. (Streaming License # CCLI: CSPL043706)

Missionary Steven Drost Steven, son of T. Wynn and Wanda Drost, and Danita, daughter of Ron and Joy Hanscom, were both raised on the mission field. So it was a natural decision to continue on with this calling when they met and married in Bible college. Two weeks after marrying, they drove to Mexico to begin their time on the Associates In Missions program. God blessed their ministry as well as their family. They founded a work in Mexico City and from that church, many other daughter works were started. Steve became the national youth director as well as holding positions on the district board. Their family increased by two, Rachel Joy (1992) and Sarah Faye (1994). Knowing this was a lifetime commitment they applied for a career missionary appointment in October 1997. After completing deputation they returned to Mexico, settling on the northern border in Reynosa, Tamaulipas. Steve became the district superintendent of the Tamaulipas district. Also at that time, the national assembly voted him in as national secretary of the United Pentecostal Church of Mexico and Danita served as the national Sunday school director. Tamaulipas grew and is now one of the strongest districts in the United Pentecostal Church of Mexico. Their family also increased by one in 2003 when Caleb Wynn was born on his daddy’s birthday. After serving the Tamaulipas District for fourteen years the national council asked Steven and Danita if they would consider moving to the city of Guadalajara in the state of Jalisco. After completing their third deputation they moved their family to Guadalajara in November 2010. Steve was elected the superintendent of the Oeste district (Jalisco and Colima) as well as the Pacifico district (Nayarit). In March 2018 a new district was formed, Mar de Cortes, (Baja California south and Sinaloa), and Steve was also made superintendent of that district to allow time to develop leaders in that area. Steve is also the national director of education, overseeing our various Bible schools throughout the country. Danita now serves as the national ladies director of the United Pentecostal Church of Mexico.

Ever thought about this? Christians say that they serve a Holy God, that their lives are governed by the Holy Bible, that they want to spend eternity in a Holy Heaven, and that they are filled with the Holy Spirit. And yet, it is taboo in most churches today to speak about the subject of Holiness! Anyone who dares to mention it is thought to be super-spiritual, or unfashionable, or even Pharisaical. And the devil just laughs as one of his greatest deceptions continues to infect the lives of so many church members. Good is called evil, light is called darkness, sweet is called bitter (Isaiah 5:20) … and holiness is called outdated, old-fashioned, and obsolete.

In the very last letter he ever wrote, the Apostle Paul emphasized to Timothy how important it was to depart from iniquity, flee lusts, and follow righteousness. “If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use” (2 Timothy 2:21). He wanted his young protégé to be a Vessel of Honor so that his life could be useful and effective in God’s Kingdom.

This is the last lesson in Pastor A.J.'s book, but since kids like the "deadly animal" shows they see, we decided to extend the kid's series a few more weeks. This gives us a few more weeks to discuss things that make God happy and what things to stay away from and keep out of our life! We want to be sure we are all fully equipped for our spiritual journey, just as we would for a natural hike in the woods. Only our spiritual journey is even more important! This object lesson is a reminder that our lives should be reflecting Jesus at all times. We should be showing Him to the world. Also, it reminds us not to walk away from the Bible after examining our lives and do nothing about the areas that need improvement. That is just as crazy as looking into a mirror and seeing you have broccoli in your teeth, but you walk away leaving it there! Use the Bible to check your life's reflection of Jesus. Are you being all that He would have you to be?

On the other hand, if you desire forgiveness, don’t be discouraged over the lingering consequences of your sin; instead, view them as a gift designed to keep you close to a God who loves you! Why is there such a discrepancy between our understanding of forgiveness and our willingness to grant it to others? Occasionally, it’s a major crisis that forces us to choose between forgiveness and unforgiveness (i.e. an unfaithful spouse, an unwanted divorce, an unfair termination from your job, sexual abuse you experienced as a child, a slanderous rumor that has cost you your reputation). But most of the time it is lesser offenses that we must deal with (i.e. being overlooked by a friend, a fight with our spouse). The Potter is still working today. Over fifteen times in the Old Testament the term “out of their hands” or “out of the hand” is used and this is very important. If somebody can be taken out of somebody’s hand or they can be delivered out of somebody’s hand according to the scriptures, I want to know why. It matters because of what we read in the Bible regarding the hands of the potter. The scripture says that God had Israel in His hand. In John we read that He’s going to give unto His people eternal life and nobody is going to be able to pluck them out of His hand. There is safety in the hand of God. There’s forgiveness in the hand of God. There is mercy and grace in the hand of God. If we can just stay in the hand of God, everything can be worked out.

Trust God. Pray every day. Seek after His guidance and wisdom. The Bible tells us not to trust in our own understanding, but in all of our ways to acknowledge Him and He will bring it to pass. If you will trust God, and allow Him to be your strength you will find out that your failures are not final.

For too long, the people of God had imagined a political figure, an earthly king who would give them victory over their tyrannical enemy. The Jews of Jesus’s day believed that their God had made the world and that He had remained in charge of it. They didn’t understand, any more than we do, why a world made by a good God would somehow go wrong, but clearly that had happened. The signs were all there: broken bodies, broken lives, broken systems, broken countries. The whole thing needed fixing, needed mending, needed to be put right. He was telling them that the new Exodus was here, but it wasn’t going to be an Exodus from Roman rule…it was going to be an Exodus or departure from the slave-master of SIN which had gripped them for many generations…and now God would be their King and He would be in charge. Jesus told them that He was the WAY… Through His Death, Burial and Resurrection - He was making a way for them to leave the Slave-Master of Sin!

Jesus is Enough!

Text Matthew: 17:1-8

17 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

Mount Hermon- Tallest mountain in all of Palestine, over 9000ft tall

Peter, James, and John- the inner circle of the apostles

Luke 9: Traveled, fell asleep, woke up in a start so this story happened at night- One thing to see a bright light, but to see Jesus clothed in garments shining

English word Behold Greek word- idou– means Pay attention to this- interpreted- Behold

Matt 17:3-Mosses and Elijah were there- Both had mountain top experiences Moses received ten commandments up on Mount Sinai in Ex 19 Elijah was up on Mount Carmel, called down fire from heaven and it consumed the sacrifice, and the water Why did God choose Moses and Elijah: Moses- I think it is because Moses represents the Law- wrote first five books of the Bible, often called the Torah: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy He was considered the giver of the Law Elijah- He was considered the foremost of the prophets So in Moses and Elijah you have both the Law and the prophets Did you know that Jesus was the fulfillment of both the Law and the Prophets Matt 5:17: Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. Then Peter sees Jesus talking with Moses and Elijah and thinks that Jesus is their equal

This is where we see God respond with a voice from heaven

What caused God to speak from heaven?

When Peter suggested that Jesus should share His glory with someone else

Isaiah 42:8 I am the Lord that is my name and my glory will I not give to another neither my praise to graven images.

Matt 17:5 God Presence appears in form a cloud- second important thing to notice Matt 17: 5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them:

God uses a cloud several times in the Bible to indicate his presence:

The Exodus from Egypt- cloud by day, fire by night The inauguration of the tabernacle- Shekinah glory of God The inauguration of the temple Ezekiel’s vision 1:5 John’s vision in Revelation chapter Matt 17: 5b The Voice of God spoke – Matt 17: 5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

This passage tells us three things:

Voiced Divine approval on Jesus- “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased- Approval was not focused on Moses, not on Elijah, But the focus was upon Jesus Directed authority to Jesus- Hear Ye Him! Not Moses, Not Elijah, but listen to Jesus alone Called for Obedience to Jesus alone, Not Moses, Not Elijah You see, the disciples distracted by the presence of Moses and Elijah, they were taught about Moses and Elijah, and they missed the point that was right in front of them! JESUS IS ENOUGH

Telegraph Illustration: Back when the telegraph was the fastest method of long distance communication, a young man applied for a job as a Morse code operator.

Answering an ad in the newspaper, he went to the office address that was listed. When he arrived, he entered a large, busy office filled with noise and clatter, including the sound of the telegraph in the background. A sign on the receptionist’s counter instructed job applicants to fill out a form and wait until they were summoned to enter the inner office. The young man filled out his form and sat down with the seven other applicants in the waiting area. After a few minutes, the young man stood up, crossed the room to the door of the inner office, and walked right in.

Naturally the other applicants perked up, wondering what was going on. They muttered among themselves that they hadn’t heard any summons yet. They assumed that the young man who went into the office made a mistake and would be disqualified.

Within a few minutes, however, the employer escorted the young man out of the office and said to the other applicants, “Gentlemen, thank you very much for coming, but the job has just been filled.”

The other applicants began grumbling to each other, and one spoke up saying, “Wait a minute, I don’t understand. He was the last to come in, and we never even got a chance to be interviewed. Yet he got the job. That’s not fair!”

The employer said, “I’m sorry, but all the time you’ve been sitting here, the telegraph has been ticking out the following message in Morse code: ‘If you understand this message, then come right in. The job is yours.’

None of you heard it or understood it. This young man did. The job is his.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Are our ears tuned to His voice??
While others were pre-occupied with other conversations, although worthwhile they may have been, they missed the main message!
THE ONES WHO WILL HEAR THE STILL, SMALL VOICE OF JESUS IN THIS GENERATION ARE THE ONES WHO ELIMINATE DISTRACTIONS! WE HAVE ALL HAD PEOPLE SAY SOMETHING TO US AND WE WERE DAYDREAMING, OR OTHERWISE PRE-OCCUPIED.
“The only way I can really understand what someone says is if I am looking directly at them when they speak!”
IN ORDER TO HEAR WHAT GOD IS SAYING, WE MUST REMOVE ALL DISTRACTIONS AND KEEP OUR EYES ON HIM! 6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid. 7 But Jesus came and touched them and said, “Arise, and do not be afraid.” 8 When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.
To put this scripture in context, just a week earlier, Jesus had asked his disciples a question in
Matthew 16:13- Whom do men say that I am?
They had responded in verse 14:
And they said, Some say that thou are John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.
He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
Matt 16:16– And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
It is interesting that in the space of just a week that he forgets that Jesus is the Son of the Living God.
I submit to you that the entire point of the Mount Transfiguration experience is to show the inner circle, Peter, James and John that He is God manifested in the flesh
The Law was necessary for its time but Jesus came to fulfill the law, Jesus is Enough all by himself.
The prophets had a very important function in their day, but the prophets cant save you but Jesus can, Jesus is enough!
I am saying to this church today, God has a job for someone to do!
There is a work to be done, and the position is open, who will fill it?
Who will go and do the work of God in this generation?
THE JOB POSITION IS OPEN, AND THE ADVERTISEMENT HAS GONE FORTH! Mark 16:15-16 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Matthew 9:37-38 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
What is The job you may ask?
Reach the lost at any cost!
The Pay?
Matthew 16:26-27
26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? 27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
The benefits?
Romans 14:17
17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
And a life insurance policy that is out of this world!
And, the applicants have come from near and far, and are sitting in the interview room, waiting for their turn!
But, I would say to you today, that it is not the most qualified, not the most well-dressed, not the first on the scene, or not the ones with the most ability that will get the job, but the ones that will get the nod from the Lord of the Harvest are those who will hear his still, small, voice and understand what the purpose of the church is in this day!
Those whose attention is not diverted by the other sounds that clamor all around, those who don’t think that they have already arrived and deserve the job because of their superior qualifications, but those who are listening and understanding the voice of God!
We can argue all day long amongst ourselves, and use scripture to back up why we are right, and everyone else is wrong, but while we are crossing theological swords, people are dying and going to hell!
THE ONES WHOM GOD WILL WORK THROUGH IN THIS GENERATION ARE THE ONES WHO HAVE ELIMINATED THE DISTRACTIONS IN THEIR LIVES.
Not the most educated,
Not the best dressed,
Not the ones with the most impressive pedigree or heritage,
But, those who have eliminated distractions!
If you have Jesus, you have enough!
I truly believe that what God is looking for in this generation is not talent, ability, pedigree, heritage, etc.
I BELIEVE THAT GOD IS SIMPLY LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WHO WILL ELIMINATE DISTRACTIONS!
PEOPLE WHO WILL KEEP THEIR PURPOSE CLEAR, THEIR LIVES UNCLUTTERED, AND FREE FROM THE THINGS OF THE WORLD THAT WILL DIVERT OUR ATTENTION AWAY FROM THE STILL, SMALL VOICE OF GOD!
People that will not only hear, but understand what God is saying.
How do I hear and understand the voice of God?
It’s not enough to hear the voice of God; I must understand what God is saying.
Peter heard the voice of God but wanted to build three temples.
It’s one thing to hear the voice, but another to know from where it is coming and what it is saying.
John 10:27
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
The way that I can hear the voice of God is only through prayer, fasting, spending time in the Word and eliminating distractions.
Jesus is Enough!
When you are fearful, – “His perfect Love Casteth out all fear” Jesus is enough for you Lonely– Matthew 28:20 Jesus said, “Lo I am with you always even to the ends of the earth” Jesus is enough for you! Weary– Matt 11:28 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest- Jesus is enough for you! Friendless– He is the friend that sticketh closer than a brother- Jesus is enough for you Healing– Jesus is the healer- he bore stripes upon his back for your healing, he has already paid the price- Jesus is enough for you Salvation: Jesus died on the cross for your sins- Jesus is enough for you! If you have never repented of your sins, let me tell you that Jesus is enough for you- He died to pay the penalty of your sins
You don’t need to carry it any longer, bring it to Jesus
Bring your hurts to him,
Acts 2:37-39
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
If you have never been baptized in Jesus Name, Jesus is enough for you!
Today is your day, we have warm water in the baptistry tank We have robes here, There is a private place to get changed you can be baptized and go home in your dry clothes But most importantly, you can go home with your sins washed away!
There is a place in every life where we come in contact with Jesus Christ. It does not matter if you’re young or old, rich or poor, black or white, Hispanic or Asian, because in every life you’ll come to a place where your road will meet with the Master. The place is usually somewhat uncomfortable and it becomes either a turning point or a stopping point in your relationship with the God of the universe. The great news is that Jesus loves you. He gave his life for you on a cross, and He doesn’t want you to perish eternally.
If everyone in America would “cash in” and go ahead and claim what God has promised them, that would not even put a dent into God’s storehouse. It would not even come close to touching God’s ability. You cannot even fathom what God has in His storehouse. Scripture tells us that the Holy Ghost is just the earnest of our inheritance, there is so much more laid up for us. We better get ready to receive. He said if you would try and prove Him on His Word, that He would pour out a blessing on you that you do not have room enough to receive. God has what you need. God has what you are looking for. All the things that the devil has taken from you, God has it.
God never intended for you to be half saved. God never does anything half way, when He forgives your sins, He forgives all of them, not a half of them, not three-fourths of them, not a fourth of them but when He forgives you, He forgives you completely. Many people have been completely forgiven by God, but try to live a split life. Half living the new life in Christ while still living their old life of sin and pleasing their self.
Is there no escaping the bondage of the past? Everything around you seems to say that doom is certain, but God brought you here. God led you here. When you get to the place where only God can save, Hallelujah! It is at this point that we must do what the children of Israel were told to do; stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.
And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. — Mark 10:46
Jesus comes out of Jericho, and He passes right by this blind man called Bartimaeus. It doesn’t seem as if Jesus was looking for people with needs, He was just passing by. He didn’t stop or look around or ask anyone if they had a need, He was simply passing by. Many people feel like Jesus has passed them by. Sometimes people get their feelings hurt because Jesus doesn’t force His way into their lives to meet their needs. This story shows us the way to get God’s attention is to humble ourselves and cry out to Him.
This chapter focuses on teaching you how to change your condition irrespective of your position. The Bible teaches that God is no respecter of persons; Then Peter opened his mouth, and said; Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. — Acts 10:34-35
God responds to our faith and accepts anyone that has reverence for and obeys His Word. This principle idea comes from Jesus’ teachings about the Canaanite woman and the prodigal son.
Almost every time in scripture you hear the words “a man” in a general sense, it is referring to any person…not just of the male gender. It could almost be thought of as our word SOMEONE! Since today is Father’s Day, and the focus is on DADs and MEN, I thought this would be a fitting way to bring out a major point from God’s Word that He has placed on my heart for this community! With that in mind, let’s read together today. In the Book of Ezekiel chapter 22, we find a long list of things that God is angry with Israel for…things they as a nation knew were wrong and displeasing to Him, but yet they were doing them with NO REGARD for God or the Things of God. They were mixing the holy and the profane (or evil)..and not thinking anything of it…and as God is winding down this list of grievances with them, this is what He says in verse 30: Ezekiel 22:30 (KJV) 30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
