Jose Feliciano has been my hero since I saw his concert in Tel Aviv on TV when I was 12, and it inspired me to try playing lead on my classical guitar I had at the time. It was such an honor finally seeing the legend himself in concert, meeting him and hanging out with him after the show. What a great guy! During the show, after the second tune, he lost his balance, fell off the tall stool and was seriously hurt. From Best Classic Bands: Drummer John Barbata, whose long list of credits is topped by prime-era stints with the Turtles, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and both Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship, has died. His death, believed to be on May 8, 2024, was confirmed by reliable local sources in Ada, Okla., where he lived. No cause or place has been reported as yet. Barbata, who was known professionally at different times as John, Johny or Johnny, turned 79 on April 1, 2024. He was born in 1945, in Passaic, N.J., but made his name as part of the California rock scene of the ’60s and ’70s. Barbata’s first band of any significance was the Sentinals, an instrumental surf music group based in San Luis Obispo, Calif., between 1961-65. (The band also included future keyboard star Lee Michaels.)

Wiedlin is one of five women who tell Deadline’s sister publication they were sexually assaulted or molested by Bingenheimer when they were minors in the 1970s and ’80s. The allegations come about eight months after Kari Krome, the songwriter for the ’70s all-female band the Runaways, sued Bingenheimer and the estate of the late Runaways producer Kim Fowley for sexual assault when she was a minor. Correction: Tawl Ross appeared alongside Ray Monet (and Dennis Coffey, including Eddie Hazel of course) on the self titled Funkadelic album, as well as Ruth Copeland's debut album Self Portrait. Ray Monet was not part of Free Your Mind and Your Ass Will Follow. Tawl Ross co- wrote the song Your Love Been So Good To Me, also appearing on Copeland's debut recording.
