We discuss how digital communication has changed and evolved in recent years, the dangers of disinformation in the context of the pandemic, and the threats, opportunities, and ethical responsibilities of social media.
This week, we speak to Loubna Bouarfa, who has spent the last 15 years researching the field of artificial intelligence, and implementing it across the healthcare sector. In 2015, she founded OKRA Technologies, with a vision for a more personalised medicine, powered by AI. OKRA recently beat 70 start-ups from 20 different European countries to claim the prize for Best Female-Led Startup at the StartUp Europe Awards. The award was presented by EU Commissioner Mariya Gabriel.
Today we are joined by the co-founder of Estonia’s e-Governance academy, Linnar Viik. We discuss how Estonia has sought to modernise public administration, with tools such as digital identity systems, as well as data integration between public services. We also touch on the country’s new digital immunity passport scheme, used as part of the current public health crisis, and we examine how the country has attempted to chart its own specialism in the field of technology ever since it secured independence in 1991.
This week, we sit down with Abraham Liu, Chief Representatives to the EU institutions at Huawei. We discuss the recent conspiracy theories related to 5G telecommunications and the coronavirus, the inside story of China and Huawei’s donation programme to the EU, and in what ways we can expect our lives to change when we come out of the current pandemic.
