This is an introduction to the project by artist and curator Niki Lopez. Principle artist George Gadson talks about his installation honoring the legacy of Provident Hospital, the first Black hospital in Broward. Also including members of the Arts & History Ambassadors of the LA Lee / Mizell YMCA Community Center - Mary Russ-Milligan, Derek Davis, Dr. Kymrae Mizell Hill and Lillian Small.
This chat centers on Provident Hospital, LA Lee YMCA, Victory Theater, members sharing some of their personal stories of why they contribute to this work, the importance of creating legacy and how art plays a part.
Questions answered include: what is legacy, how is art used to create and preserve a legacy, how can we start to create our own legacy for our families, tips on archiving photos and so much more.
The community was invited to contribute a word to the word art wall.
