But you’ll always carry with you the lessons you learnt in pursuit of them.I give some examples of lessons I learnt throughout my time bodybuilding that still serve me now even though my goals and values have completely changed to emphasise the points I make here!I always love hearing from you lot so drop me a DM at @dannibosworth and let me know your thoughts! For coaching enquiries, head to https://www.dannibosworth.com/coachingSee you next week, Danni x

In this weeks episode of The Female Fitness Podcast I am joined by Andy (@arknutrition) who is a life coach, prior to that has been a fitness coach, and has also worked with people in other areas such as helping them manage their finances.
Andy is also a returning guest so if you haven’t listened to the podcast episode that we recorded together previously, make sure to go back and give that a listen!
Today we discuss what it means to exist in our masculine and feminine energies and how that could be either beneficial or detrimental for different people and why.
We talk about how people can sometimes end up forcing themselves into being more masculine or feminine when it isn’t who they really are, and the problems that this can cause within our lives both personally and professionally!
This was a really insightful and thought provoking discussion that I think SO many of you will benefit from listening to, so let us know what you think as we would love to hear from you!
These are mine and Andy’s opinions that we share on this podcast so please bare that in mind, we would love to hear yours.
Please share that you’re listening by tagging us on your instagram story, and if you do enjoy the content on The Female Fitness Podcast it would mean the world if you could like, subscribe, and leave a review or a comment wherever you are listening!

In today's episode of The Female Fitness Podcast I have the pleasure of being joined by Joe Cross.
Joe is a 1-2-1 Personal Trainer, Online Coach, Former Bodybuilder/now Crossfitter and a good friend of mine!
Although having a shed load of potential in bodybuilding, Joe made the decision to move away from the sport and put his mental and physical health first.
In this podcast we talk about what the transition has looked like for Joe, the struggles he's faced and how he's overcome them, what his life looks like now, what sort of an impact this transition has had on his business, and we discuss the ways in which he's different both personally and professionally from when he used to compete in bodybuilding.
I have so much respect for Joe as a person, and admire his courage to open up in this podcast episode. I hope you enjoy listening, and if anyone would like to reach out after doing so you are more than welcome to drop me or Joe a direct message.
I want to point out that this is Joe's personal experienced these are our personal opinions shared in this podcast.

In today's episode of The Female Fitness Podcast I talk about how the grass isn't always greener on the other side and how we need to focus on being present, practicing gratitude for what we have, and romanticising the little things in life.
I talk about how comparison can be both productive and extremely unproductive, give examples of both, and explain how it's important to recognise what's good for us and what's not so that we can use this to our advantage.
When we fall into the trap of negative comparison it has a big impact on our lives and we need to work on being present, and practicing gratitude for where we’re at right now.
We can do this whilst striving to better ourselves or our situation if we want to, and this is much more productive than striving to change from a negative, unappreciative place.

In today's episode of The Female Fitness Podcast I talk about how you CAN progress with both your running performance & resistance training (and thus hypertrophy or the maintenance of lean muscle tissue) at the same time.
There's a common misconception that running will 'kill your gains'. But actually if you're smart about it, it really won't...and you CAN build muscle tissue whilst you progress with your running performance as long as you're smart with your programming and think about the points I cover during today's podcast!

A lot of the enquiries I’ve been getting over the past few months have been from women who really need my help.
But they’re struggling largely because of bad experiences with coaches in the past.
They’ve not been given the support they need, when they’ve needed it the most.
Support behind the scenes of the physical transformation, after the contest prep is over.
When they’re struggling with their health, body image, relationship with food, relationship with exercise, their identity and sense of self worth.
They’re mentally and physically exhausted.
Yet their coach has told them that the physical transformation they have achieved is a success, and are using that physical transformation to market their services and attract new clients.
Sometimes the client is even ignored once the coach has their physical transformation. Some of the stories I’ve heard are disgusting.
This itself really upsets me and makes me feel frustrated. I wish these women didn’t have to go through what they have, and I wish that it wasn’t possible for coaches who are doing what they are doing for the wrong reasons, coaches who don’t actually care, to make a career for themselves.
On top of that, because of the treatment these women have received and the way they have been made to feel they are now reluctant to invest in a coach again..worried it’ll turn out like it has done before.
Even though the right coach, a coach like myself who cares about each individual far beyond their external appearance would likely change their life, and be exactly what they need right now.
Welcome back to The Female Fitness Podcast!
Today's episode is a solo Q&A where I answer the questions you guys sent over on Instagram

Thank you so much to those of you who sent in your questions

On this weeks episode of The Female Fitness Podcast I have the pleasure of being joined by online coach Lydia Hume who is also one of my clients, and my best friend ☺️
I had Lydia on the podcast back in December where we spoke about how she had just been on holiday and had challenged herself not to diet in the run up to her time away!
She spent an extended period of time out of a calorie deficit whilst she worked on improving her relationship with food, body image, and overall health
After she’d been in a good position for a decent period of time, she wanted to try running a fat loss phase
However, knew she needed to take a different approach to what she has done previously..as she wanted a different end product of long-term success whilst keeping her relationship with food in tact
We therefore decided to try taking the approach of working towards gradual fat loss without tracking calories or macros!
She has seen huge success with this so far, and during this podcast we talk through her experience and the approach we’ve taken ☺️
Give it a listen, and let us know what you think!
If you could like, subscribe, and share on your IG story to let us know you’re enjoying the content on @thefemalefitnesspodcast that would mean the world 🥰
Disclaimer: Lydia did not have a diagnosed eating disorder, and I do not work with clients who do currently have eating disorders*

We break down some of the common barriers, and give you guidance on what you should look for & where you should start when it comes to wanting to make long-term progress and keep your health in tact!

I think people often fall into the trap of thinking that following a more ‘hardcore’ approach is going to lead to more success but it often isn't...especially over the long-term, and so we need to think about working SMART and not JUST working hard

Today's podcast is all about why you're not a failure for deciding to stop a contest prep, or not continue down a path that once served you previously.
Whether it be that you were going to prep but have decided not to before you’ve started, or you’ve started a contest prep but realised that it’s actually not for you part way through, or if you’ve done your first competitive season but found it wasn’t as enjoyable as you had thought..you’re not failing by deciding not to prep!
You're no less of a person. In fact, I’d argue you’re a much stronger person for deciding to take charge and do what’s right for you in comparison to just carrying on down a path that was what you had originally planned.
This podcast is all about that, and I discuss some of the reasons WHY you might decide to stop a contest prep, or take a step back from competing whether that be temporarily or permanently!

Our activity targets e.g steps shouldn’t JUST be about energy expenditure or burning calories
Daily activity has benefits FAR beyond that, and recognising this will help you make it a consistent part of your life, leading to long term success when it comes to achieving your health & fitness goals!
In fitness it’s very easy to get into the routine of box ticking without thinking about HOW you do so, which will have an impact on your overall health and well-being
so I thought I would talk about that today, in the hope that this knowledge will help motivate YOU to stay more consistent whilst thinking about HOW you 'tick the boxes'

On today's episode of The Female Fitness Podcast I have the pleasure of being joined by Laura Bardsley, and we discuss the topic of balancing a social life with your body composition and/or performance related goals!
Topics we touch on/Questions I ask Laura: - Have you personally always had a balance between your social life and personal fitness related goals, or is that something that came with time?
For most of the population who don’t have extreme goals, do you think it’s realistic for them to be able to maintain a social life whilst progressing with their goals whatever they may be?
Do you think it’s harder to do so if someone has body composition related goals in comparison to them purely being performance focused?
What approaches from a nutrition perspective do you think are good at enabling us to have that ‘balance’?
What advice would you give to anyone from a nutrition perspective who might be going on a night out where there will be food and or alcohol to minimise the negative effects the event might have on their progress?
How might they plan out their training around these occasions to maximise progress, would you recommend they train when hungover?
Is there anything we can do to minimise the negative effects of drinking alcohol?
Thank you SO much for taking the time to listen.

In today's episode of The Female Fitness Podcast I talk about why sometimes taking a step back is what’s necessary in order to continue to effectively move forwards.
Although it may seem a bit backwards on face value, sometimes what you need to do in order to progress personally or professionally is actually just pause and sit where you are for a moment, or take a step back and look at the bigger picture.
An example in context of resistance training would be running a deload, or taking a break when you’re unwell.
This is something that I encourage with clients and continually reinforce..as when you have a great work ethic sometimes you can get into the mindset of thinking that doing more is always better which is not always the case.
This concept however also applies to other areas of life such as business, and our personal lives.
In this podcast episode I go into this in more detail, and also share with you what I learnt from having a brief break away from Instagram and why I felt as though I needed to take a step back from it at the time.
If anyone has any questions as always please don’t hesitate to reach out, my DM’s are always open!

This podcast is a solo podcast about my personal journey so far within fitness
I talk very openly and honestly, sharing my experiences and personal opinions. I start from my sporty childhood, talk about my introduction to 'training' via Kayla Itsines BBG, my transition to classes & weight training followed by starting as a one-to-one personal trainer at a Pure Gym.
I then cover how I ended up getting into competing in bodybuilding/pushing the extremes, why I stopped competing, I talk about how I have come full circle back to my original goals and values as a coach, and answer the question: will I EVER compete in bodybuilding, or coach competitors again?
Thank you SO much for taking the time to listen.

On today’s episode of The Female Fitness Podcast I have the pleasure of being joined by Lydia Hume, in person!
This is the first podcast I’ve done where I’ve had the guest with me in person, and I wish I could do it more often. Myself and Lydia had a really insightful discussion that I think SO many of you NEED to hear. We discuss:
Why Lydia decided not to diet for her holiday this time around.
The struggles/challenges that came with that!
The positives that came with it.
Where we are both at now with our individual training/nutrition related goals.
A bit about our recent activities and how we want to show you different forms of activity you might want to try for yourselves.
The steps you might need to take to improve your relationship with food.
Why it might be beneficial for you to take some time away from pursuing fat loss.
As always, thank you so much for listening to and supporting The Female Fitness Podcast!
If anyone has any questions on any of the above, please do not hesitate to reach out to myself or Lydia.

On today’s podcast I have the pleasure of being joined by Abbey Willis. We discuss:
When, how, and why Abbey first got into the fitness industry?
From there, when she first got into competing and how long it took for her to win first show,
Her proudest achievement during her time competing.
When she last stepped on stage, and how her training & nutrition has changed since then.
Whether Abbey has found that now after many years of training and eating for her body composition and/or performance, it now requires less ‘forced effort’ to maintain a body composition she’s happy with?
For Abbey, does being leaner equate to her being your happiest self?
What would be Abbey’s best piece of advise for someone who might be transitioning away from being stage lean right now, and struggling with accepting themselves or bing confident in their own skin when they’re not shredded?
What goals is Abbey currently working towards personally and professionally?
And a hell of a lot more!
This was a really valuable discussion that I think will be beneficial for SO many of you to listen to.
As always, thank you SO much for listening to and supporting The Female Fitness Podcast!

In today's episode of The Female Fitness Podcast I have the absolute pleasure of being joined by Amy Pickering, who is an Online Coach herself who takes a holistic approach to coaching and shares similar values to me in respect to caring about the health and wellbeing of her clients.
We discuss: - Why I thought this topic was important to cover in the lead up to Christmas and the new year
Overeating over Christmas is quite common, should people feel guilt for this, and if not do you have any advice for people on how they might go about tackling an initial feeling of guilt if they do have one?
Why it might be detrimental for someone to feel guilt for occasions like these, and then because of this guilt then go on to set themselves aggressive goals following that whilst having a negative attitude towards themselves.
For those who have a tendency to over restrict or do extra expenditure after occasions where they do overeat, why might this be detrimental?
An Example of a client who would have the ‘ideal headspace for or attitude towards working to change?’
Are there any practices that you would recommend for the listeners that might help improve their ability to be compassionate towards themselves?
and so much more!
This was a really valuable discussion that I think will be beneficial for so many of you to listen to.

I’m back! :)
First of all please accept my apologies for being a little bit rubbish on social media/with the podcast over the last week or so. For those of you who don’t know, I’ve been really ill with corona
Today I decided to cover the above briefly, and then touch on one of the topics I’ve been thinking about during my time isolating - how we often over complicate subjects such as training and nutrition for those who actually need to make changes to these aspects of life the most, and how members of the population who have no intention of stepping on stage often end up getting given the protocols of bodybuilders which is not only unnecessary but potentially harmful too!
Let me know what you think, and if any of you want to chat about anything I’ve discussed on the podcast please don’t hesitate to reach out. My Instagram DM’s are open!

In todays episode of The Female Fitness Podcast I have the pleasure of talking all things exercise mechanics with Holly Davage.
Holly is a certified nutritionist with the Mac Nutrition Uni, an Online Coach, and bikini competitor who has a huge interest and is incredibly knowledgable in the field of exercise mechanics.
Some of what we discuss includes: - When we refer to exercise mechanics what do we mean/what does this involve or include. - Where Holly has learnt what she knows about exercise mechanics. - Who might want to take exercise mechanics into consideration and why? - What is the diff between a strength profile and resistance profile? - What do we mean when we refer to our active range of motion? - What do we mean when we refer to the line of force during an exercise? - Why might we consider reverse banding a hack squat and how do we go about this? - Why might we apply a resistance band to change the resistance profile of a leg press? - Where are resistance bands often incorrectly applied to exercises? - Why might we want to avoid performing exercises like a BB Bicep curl? - Why do people sometimes use D-handles for exercises like lat pulldowns?

Today I have the pleasure of being joined by Calum Raistrick who is an Online Coach, Educator, and Co-Founder of The Muscle Mentors.
We discuss setting yourself up for a successful contest prep as a female athlete from a health perspective, and cover the following:
What blood tests would it be useful to consider getting done prior to a contest prep and why?
If someone had blood test results that came back outside of the normal range, would you prefer to hold off on prep until these markers were back within a normal range?
How long would you wait until re testing after attempts to correct any results that were out of range?
Is it fairly common for creatinine levels to be elevated in resistance trained individuals and if so why?
If a female is on hormonal birth control, is it still worth looking into hormone levels or not? & why?
Is there any benefit to doing IV over finger prick?
We know that competitors are not in an optimal position from a health perspective post show. How long would you wait until getting any bloods done with clients in this scenario?
what other health markers/measurements would you consider tracking prior to starting a contest prep with an individual?
and why?
what would you say are your top 5 habits you would recommend for an individual to help optimise their health?
Are there any supplements on a general level that people might consider which are commonly beneficial from a health perspective?
If you have any further or more specific questions on this topic please don’t hesitate to drop myself or Cal a direct message on Instagram or leave a comment down below, and I can always go through things in more detail.

Welcome back to The Female Fitness Podcast!
Today I am joined by Dan Welburn who is a prep coach with a lot of successful figure athletes under his wing, and a PCA Pro Bodybuilder.
We discuss/I ask Dan: - A little about Dan & how he got into the industry yourself as an athlete and as a coach. - Can you usually tell which category an athlete will be best suited to when they approach you? - Do you think it’s possible for a successful bikini athlete to transition over to figure and be competitive in that category? - What are the different figure categories with PCA & Nabba and what are the differences between these categories? - Are athletes usually best suited to one of these categories, or can they switch between them relatively easily? - How prevalent would you say the use of assistance is in the figure categories? - Are there any particular training splits that Dan usually favours for figure athletes? - What approach Dan's athletes follow in regards to nutrition - Character traits that usually exist in the most successful competitors - Biggest pet peeves in the industry and more!

Welcome Back To The Female Fitness Podcast!
In today’s podcast I talk about hypertrophy, how it actually occurs and the aspects of the process I would focus on nailing if you currently have the goal of building new muscle tissue.
I try to break the process down in a way which is easy to digest and not too overcomplicated, but goes into enough detail to help you understand a little more about the process of hypertrophy and how it occurs.
I break this down into Nutrition, Training, Recovery & Stress Management, and Supplementation.

Hey guys!
Welcome back to The Female Fitness Podcast!
This weeks podcast is a solo Q&A after I asked for your questions on instagram. The topics I cover are: - My opinion on the use of steroids and/or performance enhancing drugs by bikini competitors. - Individualisation when it comes to programming from a training perspective. - Do you gain body fat more rapidly post show than you would from a starting position where you were carrying a healthy amount of body fat, and why? - Why have I decided not to compete anymore? (I go into this in a lot more detail than I have done before in this podcast).
Thank you so much to anyone who has taken the time to watch this podcast, and to any of you who sent questions over in response to my Instagram story. I appreciate it massively!

This week I have the pleasure of being joined by Jasmin Jeffery.
Jasmin is the brains behind Kompak, the business that provides competitors with everything they need all in one place. She is also an experienced competitor herself, and an all round wonderful human being with an incredible mindset.
The last time I had Jas on The Female Fitness Podcast was January 2019. Safe to say A LOT has happened since then.
We catch up about where Jas is currently at personally as an athlete and how she got there including her experience going 'all in' to prioritise her health before setting herself any body composition related goals again after her 2018 contest prep.
We talk about what her goals are for the 2021 competitive season as an athlete herself, and from a business perspective with Kompak.
Jas shares how Kompak has progressed since we last spoke and what she puts that progress down to, as well as advice for anyone who is setting up or running their own business..especially those who may be balancing a job alongside their own business.
A recurring theme throughout is how important our mindset is when achieving any goals we set ourselves in all areas of our lives!

Welcome back to The Female Fitness Podcast!
Today is another solo podcast where I ramble about and challenge the meaning of fitness, and how that may change (and has for me) throughout your own journey and life.
I touch on how what is 'optimal' on paper may not be optimal for you as an individual through certain phases of your life, and how imperfect but consistent action is often more effective over the long term in comparison to perfect action which you are only able to sustain for short periods.
I also discuss how important it is to recognise that training & nutrition serve more important purposes than solely being a means of manipulating our body composition, and how I think more emphasis should be placed on this!
As always, thank you for listening!
