When Doris Wellington was standing at the altar on the day of her wedding in 1978, she knew instinctively that she was making a mistake. She ignored family members who tried to tell her that she should reconsider her marriage to a young Pentecostal pastor, and she forged into a dysfunctional marriage that would eventually collapse after she discovered her husband led a secret gay life. Her book explores several case studies in which Protestant ministers marry women to conceal their homosexual lifestyle,church members who seduce teenagers and domestic violence among clergy marriages. "I heard he was gay, and I didn’t want to see my sister get hurt," said Nancy Burkhardt, Wellington’s sister who is now a fine arts professor at Paine College in Augusta, Ga. "But silence about that sort of thing was the norm in many Churches. Looking back on it now, I understand that the silence was a sign of naivete and denial." She talks in her book of when he threw the mattress on the ground and told her to sleep in the corner. Ms. Wellington has taken the opportunity to tell her story for healing. Still today our constitution has not been ratified for people African Ancestry to be a full person; 100% as a Human Being...Human Rights- a person is only being counted as 3/5 person...NOT a full person or Human Being....THATS ACCORDING TO THE CONSTITUTION. There were several provisions that explicity recognized and protected slavery and we still didnt ratified the human description of a black man in America. Provisions allowed southern states to count slaves as 3/5 persons for purposes of apportionment in Congress although slaves could not vote. Even in the writing for the majority in Scott, also concluded that people of African ancestry (whether free or a slave, including Scott could never become "citizens" within the meaning of the Constitution, and hence lacked the ability to bring suit in federal court. Political violence has taken place in the streets because Rush Limbaugh and others incite the belief that the man (aka government) is going to take us down and put us in camps. Alot of the talk sounds like Greek Mytholigy. Not much other than sagging pants with these conservative gansters than the traditionally gangsta. Violence or threat of it is the same. Once we gave the black panthers a bad rap for standing up for thier political views and giving dissent and now the same sentiment is now being echoed by Right Wingers who threaten to stop the government by any means necessary and bust a cap in anybody who gets in their way. Seems like the GOP are creating a down home Alkida from the heart of the Mississipi to stomping ground of LA. Even the police is jumping on the bandwagon busting heads of poor little old ladies walking with a butter knife, alzhiemer and a cane.

He made upwards of $20 million in capital gains from selling shares in the biotechnology firm that discovered and developed Tamiflu, the drug being bought in massive amounts by Governments all over the world to treat a possible human pandemic of the disease. You may recall that Rummy was on the board of Gilead Sciences, the company that makes the drug. Imagine that!

Yes this will affect all radio but think about those small black owned radio stations. Read between the lines. This is a threat to Black radio stations. Black owned radio stations are the ones that can least afford this. But you can bet that the ramifications of the passage of the John Conyers Performance Tax Bill would have dire consequences on all radio formats, especially independently owned radio stations and communities of color.

Dr. Robert D. Bullard an Environmental Sociologist has discovered a pattern of social discrimination of dummping trash on communities of mostly people of color. The rights of people of color and poor communities must be protected. It has now been a decade since Dumping in Dixie was first published.
