In a nutshell, those things are:

If you’re listening to this podcast, you’re probably interested in personal growth. And this probably won’t be the first time you’ve heard someone say, “Growth doesn’t happen inside your comfort zone.” It’s been said a lot, but there’s a reason for that. It’s true. If we want to grow, we can’t do it by staying comfy cozy. We have to stretch ourselves, challenge ourselves, get uncomfortable. So today I’m talking about how to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
We human beings are biologically programmed to take the path of least resistance. In fact, most things in nature are programmed that way.
But here’s something interesting. We think that water always takes the path of least resistance, right? But, that’s not always the case. See, water doesn’t always follow the path of least resistance because as it flows, it picks up momentum. And as it gains momentum, it can build up enough momentum to overcome the force of gravity which can make it run a course that is no longer the path of least resistance. Aha!
We humans are the same. Once we start moving toward a goal, we build up momentum, and as we gain momentum, we can overcome the forces trying to keep us on the path of least resistance and find ourselves defying gravity too. But first, we've got to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Listen to this episode to learn more.

I’ve been reading an excellent book that I may have mentioned here before. The book is called “Personality Isn’t Permanent,” and it’s by Benjamin Hardy.
Hardy starts out by telling us that all those personality tests we just love to take are bunkum. They’re meaningless, he says, because personality isn’t a fixed thing.
Now if you’ve heard me talk about mindset before, particularly the difference between having a growth mindset and having a fixed mindset, you already know that personality isn’t fixed. You already know that we can grow and change in all areas of our lives including our intelligence, our abilities, our character, and our personality.
This book reinforces the fact that the growth mindset is the mindset we should all have because regardless of a personality test that might tell us we’re flamboyant or reserved or talkative or quiet, we have the power to change those things. In other words, we aren’t our characteristics. The truth is that we exhibit certain characteristics but we aren’t those characteristics. We behave in certain ways, but we aren’t held to those behaviors. We can always choose to change our behavior. I’ll give you a personal example.
As a kid, I was painfully shy. I didn’t make friends easily, I didn’t like being the center of attention, and if there was some sort of play or performance that I had to be in, I was in it against my will. I remember one play that I was required to be in where I went after the role of…chair. That meant that I had to hold up a piece of paper board onto which a chair had been painted. No speaking lines, no showing my face, none of that. I hid behind the chair and was perfectly happy to play that role.
But I didn’t want to be shy. I wanted to make friends and to not be so intimidated by so many situations. Think about it – this world is hard for shy people. Whether it’s being called on to read aloud in class or being expected to participate in college or being required to make presentations in our professional lives, there’s a lot of putting ourselves out there in life. And for shy people, that can be extremely painful. I was tired of feeling that way, so one day, I decided that I wasn’t going to be shy anymore.
I decided to change my identity, to shed my identity as a shy person and put on the identity of an outgoing person. How did I do it? Listen to this episode to find out how I did it and how you can too!

Today, I want to talk about one of the most important elements of to being ready for change. If we want to change anything about ourselves or our lives, we’ve got to be ready. If we try to change without being ready, we’ll end up right back where we started only more frustrated and disappointed than ever.
In order to be ready, we need to have the right mindset, and one of the most essential elements of a change mindset is the willingness to take personal responsibility. We have to take responsibility for ourselves and our lives before we can change anything about either one those things.
Taking responsibility for ourselves means that we are responsible for our decisions, our circumstances, where we are and where we’re going. We’re responsible for making our lives what we want them to be. When we take responsibility for ourselves, we don’t blame other people for the state of our lives. We don’t blame the universe either or the gods or bad luck or society for what’s not working the way we want it to. Personal responsibility means acknowledging that it’s up to us to create the lives we want to live.
Give this episode a listen now and make sure to unwrap the gift of personal responsibility in your life!

Do you often find it hard to focus your attention where it needs to be focused? Are you easily distracted? Like so many episodes of this podcast, this topic is one that I’ve researched because I myself have challenges with focusing. So today I’m going to share some things you (and I) can do to build focus skills.
You’ve probably heard me say before that change is a skill. What I should say is that change is a skill-set that includes skills like identifying problem situations, creating strategies for dealing with them, determining and using the appropriate change tactics, focusing our attention, and so on.
And the great thing about building change skills is that change skills are life skills. You use them when you want to change something about yourself or your life as well as in non-change situations. Focus is a great example of a multi-purpose life skill.
When I say focus, I’m talking about the ability to direct your energy and attention to doing something that you need to do until it gets done. Now, it may not get done at once, but it eventually gets done, in a reasonable amount of time.
I can’t tell you the number of times that I’ve sat down to write a podcast episode and gotten distracted before I finished. Heck, I sometimes get distracted before I’ve even started. I’ll sit down at the computer and suddenly decide that it’s important for me to take a look at what’s going on in the world before I get to work. And then my phone will beep, and I’ll pick it up to read and reply to a message. Then I realize that I’m thirsty or I forgot to make an appointment or any one of a million other distractions.
So today, I've got some tips to help both of us focus our attention. Listen to this episode then try them out!

Do you worry? About your health, the health of your loved ones, about your future and whether or not you’re doing what you need to secure it? About money or your career or what people think of you? For so many of us, the answer is yes, yes, and yes!
Why do we worry? There are many reasons. Sometimes we think that by worrying that something bad will happen, we’ll prevent that thing from happening. Sometimes we think that by worrying, we’ll find the answer we need to fix whatever it is we’re worrying about. We sometimes worry as a way to prepare ourselves for when something bad does happen. We think that if it isn’t a surprise, we’ll be better able to deal with it. Or we worry because we think it’s a way to show we care. Or we worry to keep ourselves on our toes, to keep ourselves motivated. We’re always working to either avoid pain or get pleasure, and we often see worry as a pain-avoidance tool, although that’s actually the opposite of what’s true. Worrying doesn’t help us avoid pain. It causes us pain, often physical pain.
In fact, worrying raises our cortisol levels, and high levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, lead to a variety of health problems including weight gain, increased blood pressure, increased blood sugar, heart disease, suppressed immune system, and many others.
In addition to raising our cortisol levels, worrying leads to tension in our bodies, and that tension can lead to headaches or other physical symptoms throughout our bodies.
Worrying can also lead to stomach and digestive problems, lower testosterone in men, worsened period or menopausal symptoms in women, and sleeping problems for both.
So is the worry worth it? Does worrying actually do any good? Of course not! Worrying about bad things happening won’t stop them from happening. And in the meantime, we die a thousand deaths. And worrying as way to fix things or to stay on our toes is also ineffective. Reflecting, thinking, and problem-solving can help us solve problems, and positive reinforcement is much more effective at motivating us than worrying is. But mind-spinning worry just gets up stuck even deeper. And no matter how much we think worrying will prepare us for bad things, in truth, all of the worrying in the world doesn’t stop the bad parts of life from feeling awful. And rather than worry to show we care, how about if we actually do something to help – even if that just means calling the person we care about – instead?
So how do we stop worrying? Give this episode a listen for a few ideas.

Sometimes you’re the windshield, sometimes you’re the bug. Or as a colleague of mine once said, peacock today, feather duster tomorrow. Today I’m talking about Riding the Waves of Life.
Life isn’t a straight line and it’s not a smooth one either. When we’re on top, it can feel like we’re surfing an awesome wave that’s exhilarating, invigorating, and even easy. But when we’re between waves, or worse, crashing against the shore, it can feel awful.
The thing about life is that we all have periods in our lives that are harder than others. I happen to be going through one of those hard periods right now. And I’m going to tell you, it’s hard on a number of levels.
So first I want to talk about the difference between self-imposed hard paths and the times when the hard path is imposed on us, and next, I'll talk about why you should choose the harder but more interesting path more often.

Last week, I talked about the importance of having a positive attitude. In that episode, I briefly mentioned turning negative thoughts positive and said to look at what you're focusing on.
Today, I want to share with you the KEY to turning negative, self-defeating thoughts into positive, empowering thoughts that will help you reach your goals.
When it comes to changing anything in your life, the stories you tell yourself matter. Now maybe you don’t think you tell yourself stories, but things like, “I’m not strong enough,” and “That’s the one temptation I just can’t resist” are stories. They’ve got a before, during, and after – your history as it relates to how you feel about your ability to do something, your current expectations around how you expect to perform, and what all of that means for your future. You may only think the first line of the story, but there’s an entire story behind that line.
If you want to change anything, you need to change your stories which means changing negative thoughts into positive thoughts.
Your thoughts create your reality. “Thought is ancestor to the deed,” someone once said. Your thoughts create your feelings which motivate you to take action. Your actions become habits, and your habits create your life. So your thoughts literally create your reality. In other words, negative thinking can’t possibly lead to anything other than a negative life. If you want to create a life you love, you’ve got to master your thoughts.
Listen to this episode to learn about a critically important part of the thought-shifting equation that most people are totally unaware of and how to do it.
Can a planner really help you change your life? This one can. Because this isn't just any planner. Inside this planner is a powerful, life-changing, program that you can use to change anything you want to change about yourself. Today I’m talking about how you can be more positive starting right now.
I think we can all agree that the past year has been a drag. In the best case scenarios, we were stuck at home and bored. And the people in this group were the lucky ones. In the worst case scenarios, people lost their lives or loved ones. A pandemic shut our world down, and although we’re finally coming out of it, most of us have some residual negative mind clutter that we still need to deal with.
One of the most powerful things that we can do to start dealing with that negative mind clutter is to make sure we’ve got a positive attitude. You may still have a positive attitude, or it may be lost somewhere in the negative mind clutter. Or maybe you’ve been on high alert so long that you need to remind yourself why having a positive attitude is important. It may seem trite, but our attitude is one thing that we can control when we can’t control anything else. And having a positive attitude translates to a multitude of good things including less stress, lower risk for depression, better overall health, improved ability to deal with difficult situations, better relationships, and more.
So whether you’ve had a positive attitude and lost it or just can’t find it under all of the junk or you’ve never had a positive attitude, today is the day that you pull yourself away from your inner Negative Nellie and fall in love with your inner Positive Polly. Give this episode a listen and learn how!

In today’s episode, I’m taking a look at one of the big reasons that so many people don’t make the changes they want to make.
That reason is the swirling, mad vortex that our lives seem to become shortly after we get out of bed every morning.
Does your day get away from you more often than not? Do you find yourself with lots of intentions to do things better, to make even small changes but very little in the way of actual progress toward those changes? If so, you’re probably stuck in the vortex. So how do you get out?
When it comes to the vortex, there’s only one way out. Lucky for us, the path out is a straightforward one. Listen to this episode, and learn how to escape the swirling, mad vortex.

Today I’m talking about Mental Hygiene. Ever heard of it?
Most of us give considerable thought into what we put into our mouths, what we put in our bodies, on our bodies. We try to have good dental hygiene and good physical hygiene. So why is it that we’re less selective about what we let into our minds? Why do most people never think about their mental hygiene?

So what do you think of the title of today’s episode? A little provocative, maybe. Who am I to ask you if your reason for changing is good enough? Well…let me explain what I mean by good enough, and trust me when I say that what you learn here today is solid gold when it comes to change.
I’ll start with what I don’t mean. When I ask that question, “is your reason for changing is good enough,” it’s not about judgement. Maybe you want to lose weight or get fit so you look better in your clothes – or on a nude beach. Hey, you do you! Maybe you want to start your own business so you can get wildly rich and famous. Also totally up to you.
So when I say “good enough,” it’s not about judgment. It’s about making sure that your reason for making any change is solid enough to help you actually make that change and solid enough that you can come back to it, look at it, and get inspired to recommit to making that change when the going gets tough and change starts to feel like work.
I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that change is hard. So if your reason for changing isn’t rock solid, it won’t hold up under pressure. You’ll just look at it and say, “nah, not worth the effort.”
So how do you get your reason for changing, or as I call it, your why to the point that it’s rock solid and will do what a why needs to do? In this episode, I'll tell you. Listen now!

Today I’m going to tell you how I learned how to be a student when I was 26 years old, and how learning how to be a student literally changed my life.
But doesn't everyone know how to be a student? No, and very few of us actually know how to be good students. It's not intuitive. We need to learn how to be good students.
Give this episode a listen and see what I mean!

Today I’m talking about authenticity, being true to yourself, and living with authenticity.
What do I mean when I say authenticity? I mean that you’re genuine, real, living your life in a way that’s true to yourself and who you really are.
Why does living with authenticity matter? Well, according to a 2014 study at Louisiana Tech University, as well as multiple other studies on the subject, we’re happier when we’re living with authenticity.
So why is that? According to Dr. Stephen Joseph, writing in Psychology Today, there are 3 main reasons.
First, if you’re living authentically, that means you’re following a path that you’ve chosen, one that feels natural to you. You’re pursuing your passions and developing your competence in things that interest you. You’re creating the life you want to live, a life that fits with who you really are. And all of that makes for a happier you.
Second, if you’re living with authenticity, you value your autonomy and trust your ability to make the right decisions. You’re also able to resist pressure from people trying to impose their wishes on you, and you’re working to reach your goals and aspirations - not trying to fulfill someone else’s dreams for you. Again, happy life stuff.
And third, your relationships are better. You’re not wasting your time with people who don’t have your best interests at heart or who want you to be something you’re not. Instead, you’re cultivating relationships with people who support you in being true to yourself, and you’re supportive of their living with authenticity too.
So if you’re living with authenticity, you’re following your path, trusting yourself, not being pressured by others to live in a way that you don’t want to live, and you’re in relationships that support your living authentically.
So what does it take to live authentically? Give this episode a listen to find out!

Today I want to talk about a very often overlooked topic when it comes to making change in our lives, and that is defining your what. Deciding exactly what you want to change is one of the first things we do when we set out to change anything. Deciding on your “what” seems easy enough, and for some people, it is. But that’s not the case for everyone. If you want to set yourself up for change success, it’s important to take the time to make sure that you really know what you want. Because if you don’t know what you want, how will you ever get it?
Like I said, knowing what you want isn’t always easy. If you’ve always been focused on meeting other people’s expectations of you rather than focusing on what you want, figuring out what you want may be a challenge. Likewise, if you’ve bought into other people’s limitations for you or if you’ve set limitations on yourself, you may find it hard to let yourself dream big enough to discover what it is you really, truly want for yourself.
So how can you figure out what you want? Listen to today's episode to find out!

Today I’m talking about creating space in your life for whatever it is that you want, whatever change you want to make.
Why might you need to create space? Everything in our lives requires time and energy. Everything we have including our stuff, our relationships, our jobs, and everything we do takes time and energy. If you’re going to change anything, that’s also going to require some time and energy, and if, like most people, you already have areas of your life where you feel stretched, finding the time and energy to put toward making the change you want to make can be a real challenge. Before you undertake making that change, it’s smart to do what you can to minimize any obstacles that might get in your way, and one way to do that is by creating space for change.
Whether it's your physical surroundings, your mind, your emotions, and/or your calendar, you need space to create the life you dream of living. Listen now to learn how to make that space.

Every week on this podcast, I strive to give you something that can help you live the life you want to live. I work to provide something in each episode that can help you change whatever it is in your life that you want to change. I work to help you build your change skills.
Today’s episode is no different, but you may not think of the subject of today’s episode as a change skill. But I assure you that learning how to do this one thing will help you make any change you want to make and just enjoy your life better overall.
Now that’s a lot to ask of one little change, but by the end of this episode, I believe you’ll see exactly how powerful doing this one little thing can be.
I’m sure you’ve seen the viral video of the little girl struggling to buckle herself into her car seat but refusing all offers of assistance from her dad. Every time he’d offer to help her, she’d say, “worry ‘bout yourself.” It’s hilarious and adorable, and it’s also great advice.
Now I don’t mean that you should WORRY about yourself. Maybe "focus on yourself and what you’re doing’’ is a better way of putting it. Or ‘don’t worry about what other people are doing.’ Another good way of putting it.
In other words, stop worrying about what everyone else is doing, and focus your time and energy on creating the life you want to live. Listen to this episode and see what I mean.

In today’s episode, I’m asking you to think about what you want from life. Why am I asking that? Because so few people actually have any idea what they want from their lives. They’ve never asked themselves that question and instead find themselves living their lives on auto-pilot, just reacting to what happens to them instead of deciding what they want and actively working to create the lives they dream of living.
You don’t have to live life on auto-pilot, and you shouldn’t, but for most of us, deciding what we want takes work. And going for it once we’ve decided takes courage. I’ll come back to courage later.
So what about you? Have you thought about what you want from your life, what kind of life you want to create for yourself? If you have, congratulations! But if you’re living life on auto-pilot, simply reacting instead of proactively creating your life, the first thing you probably need to do is to remind yourself that you have one chance at this thing called life, and whether you make the most of it or not is entirely up to you.

In today’s episode I’m talking about making mistakes and being wrong...and I'm sharing a cringeworthy but hilarious story about a mistake I made.
In a previous episode, I talked about failure. In other words, those times when you’ve tried to do something and failed, you’ve taken on a challenge or started a project and not gotten where you wanted to go. In that episode, the focus was on being able to learn from your failures, make the adjustments you need to make, and keep going – even using failure as a springboard.
What I’m talking about today seems like a smaller issue but can actually be a bigger issue. Let me explain. Today, I’m focusing on just being wrong about something or making a mistake in everyday life. So on the surface, it seems like a smaller thing than trying something new and failing.
But having a problem with being wrong is a bigger issue when it keeps you from putting yourself in a position to fail at something that’s important to you. In other words, if we want to get ok with trying things that are important to us and possibly failing, we first have to be ok with being wrong in everyday life.
So today I want to talk about accepting our mistakes, getting ok with being wrong, and being able to laugh at ourselves when we screw up and not letting mistakes negatively impact our self-confidence.
Because making mistakes is part of life. Listen to this episode to hear about just a few of the times I’ve screwed up and to learn why we should all take ourselves less seriously.
Can a planner really help you change your life? This one can. Because this isn't just any planner. Today, I’m talking about something that we’ve all experienced at one time or another…the feeling that you just want to give up.
You know the feeling I’m talking about. The one that makes you want to throw up your hands and say, “Fine. I give up. I’m done. I’ve had enough.” The one that makes you feel like you want to stop going for whatever it is you’re trying to accomplish.
Whether it's a project that seems to present a new obstacle every day or the total of all of the things you're trying to do with your life, sometimes everything seems to be moving in the wrong direction, and when that happens, most of us reach a point where we just want to give up.
But giving up isn't the answer. Instead of giving up, what we need to do is rest. In addition to physical rest, we also need mental and emotional rest. How do we get those things? I'll tell you a few things that work for me in this episode. Give the episode a listen, and see how you might use these techniques to get the rest you need too.

Today, I'm giving you three tactics you can use to jumpstart yourself into taking action toward your goals even when you don’t feel like it.
I’ve talked about motivation before, but today I’m going to share a few of the tactics that you can use when your motivation is nowhere to be found. In my training program which I’ll be launching soon, I cover many more of these tactics and tools, so keep your eyes and ears open for my announcement on enrollment dates.
Even if your why is rock solid, and even if your motivation is intrinsic, you’ll still find that there are times when even though you know what you should do, you just don’t feel like doing it.
And you know what you can't count on to get you moving when you just don't feel like it? Willpower. Willpower alone will never be enough. But there are scientifically proven tactics and tools that you can use to get yourself moving even when you don't feel like it. Listen to today's episode to learn 3 of those tactics now.
Can a planner really help you change your life? This one can. Because this isn't just any planner. In today’s episode, I’m talking about overthinking and how you can stop doing it and start taking action instead.
Recently, I made a big change in my life – moving, and while moving is already a big project, throw in a pandemic and things get even harrier.
There was so much to do, and while I was sure that the time I’d allowed was sufficient, every time I thought about everything I had to do, I felt paralyzed. I’d think and think and think some more about everything I needed to do, and every day, I was getting more and more stressed.
But you know what I wasn’t getting? I wasn’t getting anything done. For all of the thinking and stressing I was doing, I wasn’t accomplishing anything. I was like a hamster in a wheel, running, running, running, but going nowhere fast.
To find out how I got out of the hamster wheel (and how you can too), listen to this episode now.

In today’s episode, I’m going to talk about another myth that’s keeping you stuck.
You’ve probably heard me talk about the number 1 myth that’s keeping you from making the change you want to make – the belief that all you need to change is enough willpower. That is, by far, the biggest mistake people make when they try to change – trying to will their way past temptation and obstacles instead of learning and using the scientifically proven tactics and tools of change.
But that’s not the only myth that keeps people stuck. Another big one is the belief that we know what we’re doing and not doing. Let me explain.
See we think we know ourselves so well. But when it comes to making change, what we’re really experts at is pulling the wool over our own eyes. If we want to change, we’ve gotta find out how we’re getting in our own way…and figure out how to get out of our way.
What do I mean when I say that? Listen to this episode to find out!

In today’s episode, I’m talking about motivation.
First, I'll explain the difference between motivation and willpower. They’re not the same, though they’re often confused.
Next, I'll talk about the different kinds of motivators - intrinsic, or motivation that comes from inside you and extrinsic, or motivation that comes from outside you. And I'll give you an easy way to tell the difference.
Finally, I'll talk about the most important part of your "why" or reason for making a change. Making sure that you've got the most important part of your "why" right is really the first step in making any change.
Give this episode a listen to learn all about motivation.

See you over the airwaves!
One of my favorite quotes about change comes from James Clear, author of Atomic Habits, and it goes like this: “Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become.”
To me, there’s so much power in that statement! So much power in the idea that with every action I take, I’m deciding who I want to be.
I really see two lessons in this statement. One is that my every action determines who I am, and the other is that how I see myself matters.
So today I want to look at these two identity-related ideas more closely. We’ll start by focusing on the concept of our identity and why it matters. Listen now!

In today’s episode, we’re going to take a look deep inside ourselves at our subconscious mind and talk about the role it plays in our decision-making.
We all have wants, desires, and impulses that come from us and that are constantly influencing our behavior – if we let them. We want something sweet to eat, and if we let that desire influence us, we go get some ice cream or a candy bar or some gummy bears.
But when we want to make changes in our lives, we have to be able to control our reactions to those wants, desires, and impulses instead of letting ourselves be controlled by them. We have to be able to positively influence ourselves and overcome temptations.
To complicate things further, we have to add to those wants, desires, and impulses our extremely active subconscious mind.
Today we'll talk about how your subconscious can get in the way of your making change and what you can do about it.

In today’s episode, I'm talking about something that often comes up when we dare. When we dare to step outside our comfort zone. When we dare to make a change in our lives. When we dare to start creating the life we dream of living.
I’m talking about the four little words that can strike such fear in our hearts that we chicken out of our daring plans. What 4 words?
These 4 words: What will they think?
What will they think of me if I do this? What will they say about me? Will they laugh at me? Will they think I’m delusional? Will they wonder who I think I am?
We've all been there, and today I’m going to give you five reasons that what other people think or say shouldn’t matter and five ways you can stop worrying about it.
Give it a listen now!

Do you know how we make decisions? You may be surprised.
I decided on today’s topic after working on the series we just wrapped up on creating a change mindset. (Episodes 11 - 13)
In the last episode of that series, I talk a little about choice and how we often say that we “can’t” do something when what we really mean is that we “don’t want to.”
That got me thinking about how we make decisions, so I decided to follow the series with an episode on decision-making.
The first thing to know about decision-making is what we don’t do. We don’t make decisions based on logic. Don't believe me? Give this episode a listen to learn what we do instead.

So what's the reframe?
It's the magical gift that we human beings have that allows us to reframe almost any situation in a more positive, more helpful way.
So much of our experience in life is determined by the way we interpret the things that happen and by the stories we tell ourselves. Often we can change an entire experience by changing how we interpret it, by simply reframing it, telling the story to ourselves with a more positive interpretation.
How can you use reframing, acceptance, and serenity to deal with the ups and downs of creating the life you dream of? Listen to this episode to find out.

Are you buying into any of these myths? If so, you may be stuck! In today's episode, you'll learn why knowing doesn’t always lead to doing, why consistency is better than intensity, and why you really do need to be careful about who you let influence you.
With the first myth, believing that knowing will equate to doing, we spend our time gathering all of the information on why we need to change then wonder why we know what we should do, but we still don't do it. We all know the statistics on smoking, eating junk food, and not exercising, for example. But millions of Americans still smoke, still eat junk food, and still choose the couch over the treadmill most days. Knowing, in other words, does not automatically lead to doing, so if you want to change, you need to do more than just learn all of the reasons you need to change.
The second myth is that, when it comes to change, we have to go all in or not at all. The reality is that an all or nothing attitude is a direct path to burnout. In this episode, I'll talk about a much better, much more successful approach.
And the third myth is that your change is all up to you. On one hand, it is, but on the other hand, it's important to be aware of the other influences on your behavior if you want to change it.
Learn how to avoid buying into these 3 myths so you can finally make the change you want to make!

Want to change something in your life but don’t know where to start? I get it - change can feel so overwhelming! But it doesn’t have to.
Today we’re going to take a look at one of the BIGGEST reasons that people don’t get started making the change they want to make.
I’m talking about this statement: “I don’t even know where to start.”
Sound familiar? Have you ever wanted to do something but felt so overwhelmed that you didn't even know how to get started?
So many people want to change something about themselves or their lives but just don’t know where to begin. They feel frustrated or unfulfilled in their current situations, but they don't know the first step to take to change them. And they’re often so afraid of doing the wrong thing that they choose instead to do nothing at all. Of course, doing nothing just keeps them stuck - right where they don’t want to be.
Change can feel overwhelming, like there are so many moving parts, so many things to do, and so much to pull together that we don’t know what to do first. So where do we start when we don’t know where to start? Today I’m going to tell you the first three things you need to do to get started so you can change anything in your life!

When it comes to change, are you a Relator, Director, Researcher, or Adventurer?
Me, I'm an Adventurer, and if you listened to episode 6, you'll hear an example or two of how that's played out in my life.
What about you? (If you don't know your Change, click here to get it. Then come back and listen to this episode all about Change Types and why they matter.)
Your Change Type is really about how you approach change, your preferences and tendencies. It isn't carved in stone, and you might employ characteristics of other types from time to time, but your Change Type is how you are most comfortable approaching change.
So why does that matter? Knowing your change type can help you minimize the risks associated with it and leverage the strengths. For example, if you tend to jump in without doing much research, knowing that can lead you to taking a closer look at what's at stake and avoid making costly errors in judgment.

Did you know that there have been over 2,000 scientific studies conducted around how we successfully change our behavior and our lives? Don't worry - I'm not about to get all scientific on you. But I do want to share with you one of the key findings from the decades of research, and that's this:
When we change anything, we go through five stages. Each stage requires something different of us, and each stage builds on the previous stage. Skip a stage, and you set yourself up for failure.
In today's episode, I'm going to introduce you to these 5 stages:
As you listen to my explanation around each stage of change and what happens in each stage, think about a change you want or need to make, and see which stage you're in regarding that change. Understanding which stage you're in and what you need to accomplish in that stage before moving on to the next stage is one of the many keys to successfully making change.

I’m your host, Gina Hunt, and I’m a change facilitator. If you’ve been trying to change something in your life – something about yourself or your situation, if you’ve tried and failed, I want you to know that change is possible. You can change whatever you want to change.
The problem most people have with change is that they go about it all wrong. They do what they’ve always done then wonder why they get what they’ve always gotten.
If you want a different outcome, you need a different input. If you want a different result, you need to do things differently. In other words, if you’ve tried to change and failed, it’s time to try something different.
As a change facilitator, I guide people through making change, teaching them a science-based method for changing, and helping them finally make the change they’ve struggled to make or haven’t yet dared to make. I created this podcast to help you take a different approach to change – one that will enable you to finally make the change you want to make and create the life you dream of living.
If you’re ready to finally make the change you’ve wanted to make but didn’t think you could, stick around because you’re in the right place.
