These unprecedented times have caused uncertainty within many communities. The risk of homelessness has increased due to job loss or the reduction in working hours for many in the Charlotte workforce. The ripple effect can see many families becoming homeless or at risk of becoming homeless due to the inability to pay rent or mortgages.
On this episode of a Nest For Every Nester (AN4EN), my special guest is the Executive Director of Charlotte Family Housing, Mr. Pedro Perez. The mission of CFH is to empower working families experiencing homelessness to achieve life-long self-sufficiency through shelter, housing, supportive services, and advocacy. We discuss the services and resources CFH provides to the community of Charlotte to reduce the rate of homelessness. Now more than ever the conversation surrounding homelessness, poverty, and the systemic issues within the housing sector from affordable housing to barriers to homeownership, must be had. Social distancing does not mean social disconnecting. On this very first episode of a Nest for Every Nester, I have invited Life Coach/Consultant Allycia Brown to discuss with us the concept of how to pivot during the time of disruption where social norms and connections have drastically changed. My goal with this podcast is to bring together pillars of our community as a valuable resource. Although future episodes will highlight more real estate industry topics, I felt it important to focus on what is most important right now. Our mental health. My goal is to be an empathetic ear to my community. It is important that we discuss how we are all processing what it means to shelter in place as it relates to our daily lives.
Allycia Brown, MHS, will speak on 3 common ways to pivot, mindset, how to adjust from a schedule to a routine, the power of empathy and what we must do today to affect how we will operate in the future when we transition out of social distancing. As a real estate agent it is my mission to make connections and bring those connections to my audience in a relevant and meaningful way. We are all in this together and how we pivot personally and professionally will help us forge forward together. Towards the end of the episode I will highlight how the real estate industry has pivoted to make it possible for you to continue the process of buying or selling your home. After all home is the foundation of this fight.
