When you become an adult... you stop "growing up" but you still have some rough waters to navigate and work toward "maturity".

We talk about the ups and downs of being an adult and how to handle some tough situations.

Why do we put so much emphasis on other people's opinions and expectations?

Sometimes what we THINK they are expecting... is often a thought we've created in our own heads.  Maybe they responded that way because of something totally unrelated to YOU.

We often get caught up in ourselves and forget to look at things from another perspective.

This is really hard when you're a people pleaser and a perfectionist.

On today's episode we try to unpack some of these feelings and talk through it.  It's a daily battle that won't change overnight, but you have to consistently be aware of it and reprogram your mind to approach and respond-- not react-- to what's happening.

We get a little deep with this episode.  Hang on!  And let us know if you struggle in this area too!

Oh the irony that our last episode was about taking a break.  Because that's exactly what we just did.  Somewhat unintentionally!  Life got in the way.  Summer was busy, then getting back into the swing of things with school starting back... and our #LovePup Family Fest.

So many "excuses".  But, sometimes you need to unplug and take a break.  It can be refreshing.

Today's episode, we talk about taking the breaks.  About changing habits and being more intentional.  Disconnecting from social media at times.  In a sense, doing a "detox"! It helps clear your brain, helps you recharge, and can reignite the creativity!  I think you'll be glad we took our break!

Now we're back and want to know what YOU want to hear about!  Reach out to us on our Instagram page! @thebsshowpodcast

We get it-- life is BUSY!  There are so many things and people pulling you in a million directions.  The word busy often gets thrown around like a badge of honor.  But are you too busy?  Are you making time for the priorities in your life?  Are there things you're putting off?

We discuss how we both like to stay "moving".  It's hard to sometimes take a break and do something for yourself.  To refill your cup.  They say you can't pour from an empty cup, so it's important do things to refresh your mind and spirit.  It doesn't have to be anything extravagant... but find those things that bring you joy and make a little time to fit them in.

We talk about how easy it is to waste time... then say "I don't have time for  _____. " Be intentional with how you spend your time... and you'll be amazed at the time you have freed up for those things you want to do!

In today's episode, we discuss the frustration of things not happening when or how we would like.  We think we know what it is that would be great... but when it doesn't happen, we get disappointed.  The truth is, it's not the right timing.  We don't always see the bigger picture but if we hold on to hope... the thing we're hoping for most may come in an even bigger and better way than we ever imagined!

This also led to a discussion on hard work.  It's important to put in work for MANY reasons.  When you work really hard for something, you're much happier when you get it, because you can appreciate it more than something handed to you.  We discuss how "wanting" things versus "working" for things is so much different!  Nothing is more annoying that someone wanting and wishing for something without putting in the work!

There will always be people and things in life that can get you off track.  It's hard to be kind, especially when someone has hurt you in the past, or when their plans mess yours up.

In today's episode, we talk about being kind... thinking from a different perspective.  We can often put expectations on other people that they are completely unaware of... and that's not fair.  We may also think a person is out to "get us" when in reality, they may be having a bad day and their words or actions have nothing to do with us!

Acceptance-- this is hard in a lot of situations.  We want things to go our way and people to do certain things, but in certain situations, it's important to remember that some people are they way they are for a reason-- you can choose to stay frustrated and work against them... or learn to work with them.  Be flexible and understanding.  Learn their ways, and figure out how you can work with that!

Positivity! It can be tough to stay positive when life gets you down.  In today's episode, we discuss the importance of re-framing "negatives" and starting your day with a positive mindset.  Set yourself up for success by waking up and focusing on the positive, surround yourself with positive people, and work on resetting your way of thinking.

Tough things happen in life... but it's up to you on how to react to it.  You can accept what is and stay there, or... go through the tough stuff and let it make you stronger!

On today's episode, Blaine shares about her struggle of feeling stuck and questioning her purpose. Between work, side hustles, and even working out and health-- it's easy to get into a routine that easily becomes boring, mundane and doesn't bring you joy. There's nothing wrong with that-- we all experience it. The key is acknowledging the problem, and discovering a way to dig yourself out. Whether it's confiding in that friend that will light that fire under you, changing up your routine, or simply taking a small break, you CAN, and you WILL get out of the slump.

Make time to still enjoy the little things outside of the "have to" things. Remember your sense of accomplishment when you completed something on your goals list (or vision board). Let that re-inspire you!

Throughout life, you have a variety of friendships.  At any given time, you'll have different types of friendships.  In today's episode, Blaine and Sharon discuss the types of friendships they've experienced and talk about how forming friendships as an adult seems to be extremely difficult.

Friends come along for a reason, a season or a lifetime.  Each relationship has a purpose.  Learning and growing from those friendships is important.  Often we put expectations on ourselves or our friends and let ourselves get hurt because those expectations are unrealistic.  We'll chat about that too.
