I don't know what you are going through this Easter, but the two men traveling to Emmaus in Luke 24 were marinading their minds in the disappointment of life's crushed expectations. We get a master class in watching the Master provide Peace, Hope, and Joy to those who were struggling under the weight of a story that wasn't true.
It is His Presence that gives us Peace
It is His Death that provides us with Hope
It's a personal encounter with risen Jesus that provides us with Joy. It sets us free and gives us purpose!
If you would like to accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior, I encourage you to pray this prayer and text the word "ALIVE" to 33777. We have a gift for you and would love to walk beside you in your journey with Jesus Christ!
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior.
Our purpose is to bring God Glory if you
Center your life around God
Learn to love his church
Continue Growing
Serve and minister to others
Joseph saw that the Saviour hadn’t come to Salvage his Situation it was to Save him from his Sin.
He didn’t come to help me circumvent my circumstances - rescue my reputation - he came to do something way greater than those things. To save me from my sin. What better Hope can we have?
Ruth and Boaz teach us how we can act in accordance with God’s character in contrast to the social alienation and apathy that we are surrounded by. By living in loving kindness towards one another.
Ruth is at a crossroads. She has the opportunity to return to her homeland and live a familiar life, or she can use her loss as a catalyst for change. Ruth chooses loyalty to Naomi and faces an uncertain future. What does this act of selfless devotion reveal to us?
There is too much at stake in your personal life and the church to allow alignment issues to go uncorrected.
If you are a follower of Christ you have great power in the lives of others with who we live in community. With great power comes “great responsibility. You are a father figure you are a mother figure. When God created the family unit, he designed the unit to be the representation of him in a child’s life.
Gratitude is one of the most powerful tools in our relationship toolbox. But many times we do not know how to properly use.
It’s a tool for your relationship toolbox but not because it makes the other person better. It makes you better. You see most tools are used by the operator to (fix, repair, service, maintain, replace) the thing you are working on. Gratitude is one of the few tools the works on the operator using it.
Gratitude is not about the other person, it’s about you. It’s not turning the other person into a minion to get what you want or to get them to where you want them. It’s adjusting your perspective on life so YOU can be repaired!
The 6th commandment appears blase’ at first pass. But, watch/listen to find out why the 6th commandment is worth celebrating!
Self-help only works when you know why you are after the change. When it comes to our prayer life we have lived in a world that is filled with resources on how to pray and what prayer is. Why do we pray? We pray to accept the invitation of participation in God’s plan into our life. But all too often we end up having full access to the creator of the universe and if every one of our prayers were answered nothing would change except our personal, financial, or immediate situation if everything we prayed for was answered the way we wanted it. Yet, what’s more, is this often doesn’t disturb us.
Colossians 4:2-6 “An Encouragement for Prayer 2 Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. 3 Pray for us, too, that God will give us many opportunities to speak about his mysterious plan concerning Christ. That is why I am here in chains. 4 Pray that I will proclaim this message as clearly as I should. 5 Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be gracious and attractive* so that you will have the right response for everyone.”
Here are 3 ways that we can self assess why we are praying.
Are we praying for God to: SEARCH us? BREAK us? SEND us?
Each of these things allows our relationship with God to flourish because they put our situation into perspective in God’s greater plan. Life is not supposed to be easy and if we treat our prayer life as a self-help book we will miss out on the sweetest things God has for us.
A Prayer Attributed to Sir Francis Drake - an English sea captain
“Disturb us, Lord, when we are too well pleased with ourselves, when our dreams have come true because we have dreamed too little, when we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore.
Disturb us, Lord, when with the abundance of things we possess, we have lost our thirst for the waters of life; having fallen in love with life, we have ceased to dream of eternity, and in our efforts to build a new earth, we have allowed our vision of the new heaven to dim.
Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly, to venture on wider seas, where storms will show your mastery; where losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizon of our hopes; and to push back the future in strength, courage, hope, and love.
This we ask in the name of our Captain, who is Jesus Christ.
Amen!*”

The varied opinions on how to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 rolling into the presidential elections create a challenge. In 2020 we are going to experience one of the most culturally divisive years in the history of Newstart. How can we, as a local church, bring hope and reconciliation? Listen to the teaching from our first Sunday back for in-person worship gatherings.
We all have monsters that live inside us. These are the thoughts, hurts, desires, and impulses that we think we can keep hidden because they seem small and insignificant. It’s in our nature. We get good at keeping these monsters hidden in our daily life, never imagining they might one day grow into an unmanageable, unstoppable force we can no longer control. How can we identify these tiny monsters in our lives and deal with them before the monsters grow to become uncontrollably powerful over our lives? Don’t let the monsters get you!

How do we move the marital relationship higher on our list of importance and invest in our individual marriages and the marriages of others for the glory of God?
Fear often overcomes us when we feel inadequate in the mission or path that lies ahead of us. What do we do in those moments? How can we move forward?
Be sure to check out this teaching on the fear of failure.
Have you ever allowed the fear of missing out on something to change your priorities? Be sure to listen to this important teaching on what can happen if we fear what others think more than we trust God and his promises.
We cannot experience the full appreciation of God’s good news if we do not engage with all three dimensions of the Gospel
