Trevor, alongside his guest and good friend, Justin Johnson, discuss how some major social media platforms, as well as an extremely insurgent one, have taken recent major strides that greatly challenge YouTube's iron grip on the video sharing industry.
Episode Outline:
We start with an introduction, and explanation of Trevor & Justin's history with YouTube. We show our intent to highlight platforms that have risen to compete effectively with YouTube. Starting with Facebook's video-sharing and creator support expansion, and their child company Instagram / "Instagram TV" (IGTV)'s potential to build communities, then moving to Snapchat's easy sharing of visuals/original content, and finally, TikTok's meteoric rise and focus on individual creators. We end off the body of the episode with a reflection on YouTube's strong stature, with aforementioned platforms finally introducing true alternatives and competition. Closed off with our final thoughts and the outro.
