Being sustained in good works can be a difficult thing when we have so many temptations of pleasure in America. The Lord, knowing our heart, has motivated us with eternal rewards. He calls us to look towards an eternal age rather then this temporal age. As we look towards eternity we will store up rewards that last forever.

God desires that we would respond to His love by loving others in action. We call this good works. When we do works from a response of His love God is glorified. Good works will never earn us salvation, they are our response to salvation.

Many times God moves our heart with His burdens. The burdens of His heart, the injustice of the earth that breaks His heart. These burdens sometime can make us feel uncomfortable. Rather then casting of the burdens we need to respond to them with prayer and action. We respond to our emotions with actions. Jesus moves our heart that we would act.

When our hearts are moved with God's love for Him and people it will demand that we respond with action. We do not define love with action. We can serve people and not love them. We can't love people and not serve them.

Jesus sums up christianity with two commands. Loving God and loving others. In the midst of these two commands he gives a key component to loving others and it is to love ourselves. When we feel love from our Father God it will empower us to love others.

We are called to love one another as God loves us. God loves us not because of what we do, but who we are. We are made in the image of God, in His likeness. We are called to love others according to their image in God, and not who man has made them to be. We must look past the scars on the outside and look to their true identity, sons & daughters of the Most High. The dilemma we have is that the ability to love others is apart from us. God is love and we love because he loved us first. We must behold God's love, to love others well.

Throughout Scripture we see the command to love God and love others. Many times we define love through actions. Although love demands action, the core of love is to value people like Jesus values people. When we see our spouses, friends and enemies through the same lens that Jesus sees them, we will begin to love as He loved even in the midst of rejection.
