The Good Shepherd lays down his life for his sheep. In this week's sermon, Fr. Joe gives his final words to St. John's emphasizing that the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, is characterized by his loving, sacrifical, and merciful nature towards his flock, and that this reality is what animates the body of Christ.
Focusing on our OT text from Jeremiah, we heard how the prophet’s lament is not unlike our own prayers. Despite the pain of our various callings, the LORD remembers us and His intentions are always to deliver, save, and redeem.
On our first Sunday in Lent we heard the same old tricks from that serpent, the devil. He won over the first Adan, but for the first time, he was thwarted and overcome by our second Adam (Jesus). His victory has become our victory. Come and hear the trustworthy Word of God.
The Ascension of Jesus to the right hand of the Father reveals that He is our only Mediator and Advocate. Last Sunday we heard a portion of Jesus’ prayer to the Father, His present and future disciples, but also for the sake of the world. His prayer revealed the divine will for oneness. What does this oneness look like and how might we catch it for ourselves today?
This past Sunday we focused our attention towards the Suffering Servant from the prophet Isaiah. How does the Holy One relate to sinful people like you and me? The great surprise is that it is through His suffering. Come and behold your suffering servant.
