God wants us to experience the “peace of God”, which surpasses all comprehension. This kind of peace will guard our hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”. The word guard speaks of military action. It means to protect or garrison by guarding. Like soldiers assigned to watch over a certain area. God’s peace guards the hearts and minds, the emotions and thoughts.

Be anxious for nothing…Pray more than worry.
How to pray: Come before the Lord with supplication and petition ( requesting answers to your specific needs). Come before the Lord with thanksgiving.

What did you see as you read Paul’s words to the Philippians? What word or words did Paul Emphasize in the text? What things are being repeated? Do you notice any things that are related? Do you notice things that are alike and unlike? Did Paul communicate anything or things that are true to life in the text? Paul gives us two options. Worry (anxiety) or Pray. Do you worry more than you pray? If so, why?

God is faithful to love us unconditionally God is faithful to show mercy towards us. Mercy is when God spares us from the bad things we deserve. Mercy is when God doesn’t give us the full punishment we deserve. Mercy is God forgiving and showing compassion toward us despite our disobedience.

Your vision will require patience. It will not happen overnight. God can provide for our (YOUR) needs in totally unexpected AND unlikely ways. God wants us to be on MISSION. To be on mission, we need to be clear on our preferred future; our destination. If the VISION is blurred, then the destination is uncertain.

God-ordained visions are always too big for us to handle. God knew exactly what he was doing with Nehemiah. God the master strategist, places the cupbearer in a position of divine significance. God is using your current circumstance to prepare you to accomplish His vision for your life. Your present circumstances are part of the vision. You are not wasting your time, spinning your wheels.

He “Prayed”. He “Planned”.
Why PRAY?
Prayer is critical to vision development. We see what we are looking for, we often miss what we don’t expect to see. Prayer keeps you looking. Prayer keeps the burden fresh. It keeps your eyes and heart in an expectant mode.
What did Nehemiah ask in his Prayers? He confessed his personal sins and the sins of the sons of Israel. He asked God for success and favor.
CONFESS your SIN and ask for FORGIVENESS, Chapter 1:6 ASK God for SUCCESS, Chapter 1:11 PRAY for FAVOR, Chapter 1:11 Nehemiah planned for four months.
PLAN – Chapter 2:1-10
Take time to Plan. He spent time working on a “plan” or “strategy”. God resourced Nehemiah’s vision.
Questions:
If the right opportunity came along, do you know what you would do? The person you are praying for walks up to you and ask about your faith in the Lord, would you be ready to share?
If you had that opportunity to switch careers, start that business, write that book, do you know what steps you would need to make the transition?
Do you have a vision for how you want your child/children to turn out?
Do you have a plan?
Do you have a vision for your marriage? Do you have a plan?
OPPORTUNITY APART FROM PREPARATION RESULTS IN MISSED OPPORTUNITY.
Nehemiah endured it all: sarcasm, suspicion, gossip, mockery, threats, anonymous notes, false accusations, you name it. None of it moved him. He was focused on rebuilding the broken-down wall of Jerusalem. God placed a vision in his heart to restore and rebuild the wall. If God has placed a vision in your heart, you can expect negative criticism.

You can respond to negative criticism by developing a great prayer life and when you do so the following happens:
Your stress and anxiety level will decrease. Your passion restored and renewed. You will find the strength to put your hands to the work of God, the Vision his placed in your heart.

Continue to Trust God when things don’t turn out like you expected them to. Romans 8:28
God’s purpose and plan for your life will override any plan you can ever come up with. Proverbs 19:21
Easter is focused on the Resurrection of the Savior. If Jesus didn’t arise that first Resurrection morning, lay aside His burial wrappings, and leave the tomb to walk among those who loved Him, nothing else really matters. Jesus Resurrection changed everything for the believer.

The life we live as believers is not in vain. The resurrection gives us the power to live for Christ in victory daily. Your life has a purpose beyond the years you will spend on earth. We will have victory over the grave. Whatever our circumstances, we can be confident that better days are coming.

God will use our suffering to minister and comfort those who are suffering. God gives comfort not just that we might be comforted, but that we might become comforters of others. Suffering teaches us to trust in God, not in ourselves. Suffering teaches us to give thanks in everything.
As believers, we have a duty to encourage one another. When was the last time you encouraged your spouse, children, parents, friend, co-worker, supervisor, Pastor or neighbor? Encouragement is the oxygen of the soul.

What was Paul’s secret to maintaining his joy? How could Paul be filled with joy while being on house arrest? How many times do we read of Paul complaining about his circumstance? How often do you complain when life is hard? When people think about you, are you a source of joy for them?
God has good things in store for you. He wants to give you good things, but He wants you to stop and enjoy life. He wants you to be filled with joy. We are so focused on the challenges of life that we forget to enjoy good things. No good thing will he withhold from those whose walk in blameless
Joy - joy is an inward state of being that determines a person’s outward response to the situation. Joy is a CHOICE.
We must make the decision to praise God despite our feelings, people, things or circumstances. Some days you have to wake up and declare your joy. No matter what happens to me today, I will walk in joy!
5 Reasons We Choose Joy: 1. It reminds us of God’s Goodness 2. Joy sustains us during Adversity 3. We honor God as the source of our joy 4. Joy gives us strength 5. Choose Joy because God is with you. God does not ask you or expect you to endure hardships alone.
The role of the leadership of the church is to teach, preach, and equip us to go out and spread the gospel. We must get to know one another, fellowship, connect, break bread so that we can fulfill the mandate of the church.

Devote yourselves to the ready of God’s word daily, it will transform your life. Fellowship with other believers. Fellowship is not just taking communion or seeing one another at church…Fellowship is spending time with another and getting to KNOW each other. Pray!! God knows what we are going through. What book or passage have you been studying from God’s Word? What specifically has God been teaching you from that book or passage? How have you been applying what you have learned in everyday life?
If you are a Christian, you do need other believers. God expects us to grow in their faith and to do so by growing together in God’s Word. The growth and protection Christians need to experience occur as believers assemble together as a local church, within the universal church. Spiritual growth and protection won’t happen by individuals or families attempting to do life on their own. Christians and Christian families need each other to grow in faith

God did not intend for you to be alone. He intended for you to grow in faith and in the Word with others. Devoted: A group of people that are earnest, persistent in prayer, and diligent about the word. They live out the word daily. We must practice what we preach and be an example for others. Build each other up and encourage others on their journey. Fellowship is essential to a healthy church and spiritual maturity. Reflection Questions
How are your friendships with other believers? How are you serving and caring for other members in your group? In what ministry at our church are you serving?
If you are a Christian, you do need other believers. God expects us to grow in their faith and to do so by growing together in God’s Word. Prayer is the most effective tool a parent has. Prayer goes where a parent can’t. Prayer is a parent’s way of taking matters into God’s hands. When teaching, discipline and modeling fail, prayer succeeds.

One way we overcome suffering is to suffer with joy. The believers in Philippi were growing in faith and live for Christ while dealing with conflict and threats of persecution.

Christmas is really about Jesus (earthly name) coming to reveal God. God became a man. Holiness sleeping in a womb. The creator of life being created. God had come near. What can we learn about the incarnation of God in the Flesh? What can we learn from the first Christmas?

If God could use two humble individuals like Mary and Joseph, surely he can use people like you and people like us. We must remember that big things often start small. The New Year is a time of new beginnings. As you think about the coming year, know that there will still be hard times, but you will live through them. You may even be powerfully transformed through the process. I want to encourage you to make 2019 count!
The book of Judges dedicates one verse to a man who made his life count. Shamgar is his name. Shamgar was a judge in Israel for less than a year but made a huge impact. This ordinary man did three simple but powerful things to make his life count during the life of the nation of Israel.

I love reading the life of David. He is a real man who has real issues in his life, family, real sin issues and reign as a king. He experienced real jealous, betrayal, hurt and threats on his life. He made real mistakes but he is called a man after God’s own heart. He has real struggles. David’s life is a reminder that we have real issues to deal with as believers.
Global OUTREACH (GO) Community Church is purposed according to the great commission to GO OUT and make disciples of all nations. Of all the things Jesus could have commanded after His resurrection, He chose to “GO and make disciples”. God is always boldly on the move, but we are a hesitant people often following the path of Jonah and missing God’s best for us and those around us.
