Today we’re cranking the volume all the way up to eleven as we revisit one of the most iconic and hilarious cult classics of the ’80s—This Is Spinal Tap!
In this re-release from 2017, Robert and I are joined once again by our good friend Scott Compton to break down the mockumentary that defined a genre and gave us some of the most quotable lines in comedy history.
🎸 Topics we cover include:
And here’s the kicker—at the time of this re-release, This Is Spinal Tap isn’t available to stream anywhere. Not even to rent or buy digitally! If you’ve still got a DVD, hang on to it—it’s a collector’s item now.
🔥 Whether you're a longtime fan or discovering Tap for the first time, this episode is a love letter to a film that’s still turning heads (and melting amps) decades later.

This week on GenX Journeys Throwback Thursday, we’re revisiting a gem from the Return to the '80s archives—my incredible conversation with film critic and author Helen O’Hara!
Helen writes for Empire Magazine and The Telegraph, and she had just released her brilliant book Best Movies of the 80s when we recorded this episode. We kicked things off by celebrating her book and our shared love for some of the most iconic films of the decade.
Then we dove into The Princess Bride—a film beloved by many, and one of Helen’s all-time favorites (mine too!). We talked about the legendary cast, memorable moments, and the magic that’s made it a cultural classic. But the conversation also took an insightful turn as we explored how the title may have initially alienated some viewers, particularly boys and men, and why Hollywood still tends to avoid feminine-leaning titles.
Whether you're a lifelong fan of The Princess Bride or just love geeking out over '80s movies, this one’s for you.

Hosts: Paul Stroessner & Suzanne Mattaboni
In this episode of the GenX Book Club, Paul is joined by fellow GenX writer Suzanne Mattaboni (Once in a Lifetime) for a heartfelt, honest, and occasionally hilarious discussion about The Perks of Being a Wallflower—Stephen Chbosky’s raw and unforgettable coming-of-age story.
We unpack the novel’s unique letter-based format and how it allows us to experience Charlie’s inner world with startling intimacy. Then we turn to the film adaptation—talking about the pitch-perfect cast (hello, Emma Watson and Ezra Miller), the soundtrack that’s pure mixtape magic, and those unforgettable Rocky Horror scenes that made us feel like we were right there in the audience.
And yes, we get into that tunnel scene… Suzanne couldn’t help but slip into full-on mom mode at the sight of Sam standing in the back of a moving pickup truck. (“WHERE ARE THE SEATBELTS?!”)

We’re revving up the nostalgia machine and heading full throttle into the golden age of TV intros—the action-packed, high-octane theme songs of 1980s television!
In this retro gem from the vault, I’m joined by our original co-host Robert Mishou and long-time Return to the '80s contributor and friend Jim Vilk, who’s been part of our crew since the early blog days. (Jim even wrote the popular piece One-Hit Wonders? Not Level 42! – check it out here)
🎵 Main Topic: We each picked three unforgettable ‘80s action/adventure TV theme songs that left tire tracks on our hearts—and made sure to include at least one “must-have” anthem per round. You’ll hear about:
And of course, we all agreed on these iconic themes:
🎶 Plus, we introduced a fun new segment: Play This, Not That – thanks to Jim!
🕊️ And we paused to pay tribute to several legends we lost around the time of this recording:
📩 Let’s hear from you! Did this episode bring back memories? Could you see the visuals in your head as the theme songs played? We’d love to know your favorite ‘80s action/adventure TV themes—and if you want a Part 2!

Episode Title: ’80s Sitcom Theme Songs (Originally aired: Oct 13, 2016) Cohost: Paul Stroessner & Robert Mishou
Description: We're cranking the dial back to 2016—and even further back into our childhoods—for a look at some of the most iconic sitcom theme songs of the '80s! In this special Throwback Thursday re-release, I’m joined by my original cohost Robert Mishou as we each share our top 5 sitcom themes and talk about why they’ve stood the test of time.
🎵 From the heartfelt (Growing Pains) to the hilarious (Alf), the funky (Diff’rent Strokes) to the unforgettable (Cheers), these tunes weren’t just intros—they were part of the show’s identity. And yeah… I even let Robert sneak in Fresh Prince. 😄
At the time of recording, the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot was just about to hit theaters, Stranger Things had exploded, and Bon Jovi was releasing This House Is Not for Sale. The '80s were already making a comeback—and we were all in.
💡 Note: The episode ends a little abruptly, as we originally transitioned into a full Ghostbusters follow-up that sadly never aired due to a massive audio glitch. (RIP, lost episode.)

🎙️ Throwback Thursday – My Backstage Interview with Rubix Kube + Steve Brown & PJ Farley of Trixter! 📅 Originally recorded: April 21, 2018 | 🎧 First aired: April 28, 2018
This may just be my favorite interview ever. Why? Because I got to go backstage with my all-time favorite '80s tribute band Rubix Kube—and interview two absolute legends from the rock world: Steve Brown and PJ Farley of Trixter. 🤘
The night was electric, the energy was contagious, and the conversations? Unforgettable.
🎤 Interview Part 1: Rubix Kube I sat down with the band’s powerhouse vocalists Cherie and Scott, and their insanely talented drummer—and my good friend—John, one of the band’s founding members. We laughed a lot as they shared:
🎸 Interview Part 2: Steve Brown & PJ Farley (Trixter / Rubix Kube) Then I had the surreal experience of chatting with Steve Brown, who has literally filled in for Vivian Campbell in Def Leppard—sitting on a backstage couch with him was one of the biggest highlights of my podcasting career! He shared what it was like to play with the legendary band during Vivian’s cancer treatment, and though he didn’t mention it at the time, just months later he’d return to the stage with them again, covering for Phil Collen. PJ Farley also jumped in to talk about their shared journey in Trixter. They had a platinum selling debut album just as grunge was about to hit. But each album they have done has just gotten better and better. They also speak about collaborating with Eric Martin of the band Mr. Big.
💥 It’s two interviews in one jam-packed episode full of energy, stories, laughs, and heartfelt moments. If you love the ‘80s, live music, and behind-the-scenes rock tales, this one’s for you.

It’s the final installment of our Return to the ’80s March Madness series! For our 5th Annual Tournament, we focused on the solo hits of the legendary Phil Collins—no Genesis tracks here, just 16 powerhouse songs going head-to-head in a Sweet Sixteen-style bracket.
And yes, a couple of early-’90s singles made it into the mix—Something Happened on the Way to Heaven and I Wish It Would Rain Down—but since they’re from his 1989 album ...But Seriously, they earned their place.
Matchups include classics like:
This episode also features a fun collaboration with Gill from RealWeegieMidget Reviews, who reviewed Phil’s film Buster, which gave us two songs featured in the tournament. Check out her review here: 🔗 Buster (1988) Review – RealWeegieMidget Reviews

A Special Power Surge Episode
In this powerful and heartfelt episode of GenX Journeys, Paul Stroessner honors two remarkable American heroes—Captain John Thomas Martin III and Second Lieutenant Emily Jazmin Tatum Perez—whose legacies deserve to be remembered, not erased.
Captain Martin was a brilliant scholar, leader, and trailblazing West Point graduate who also earned a master’s from Harvard before serving in Vietnam. Lieutenant Perez was a fearless medical officer, record-breaking West Point cadet, and decorated track athlete who led from the front—literally—on her final mission in Iraq.
Paul shares their stories with passion and purpose, tying in his own experiences as a veteran and runner. He also addresses the disturbing trend of erasing diverse military histories under the Trump administration and calls on listeners to rise up and speak their names.
💥 This episode is a tribute. A truth-telling. And a rally cry.
Topics Covered:
🕊️ “True leadership is grounded in courage, service, and purpose. Real patriots don’t erase heroes—they remember them.”

Some acts of love are so profound that they stand the test of time. This is the story of Mr. Kuroki, a devoted husband in Japan who spent two years planting thousands of Shibazakura flowers—moss phlox—for his wife after she lost her sight due to diabetes. Struggling with depression, she withdrew from the world. But Mr. Kuroki had a plan. He created a breathtaking sea of pink blossoms, their sweet fragrance filling the air, hoping it would bring her outside again.

💜 22 Too Many: Honoring David J. Ringhand 💜
Today, we honor and remember David J. Ringhand, a U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer who dedicated 20 years of service to our country. David was a leader, a mentor, and a man who loved cooking. Even after retirement, he continued his commitment to service by volunteering at the Eau Claire Food Bank and Meals on Wheels. March Madness is back, and this time, we’re putting the spotlight on the Queen of Pop herself: Madonna! 👑🎤
Back in 2020, while the world was on pause, Return to the '80s March Madness kept the spirit alive by diving into a head-to-head battle of Madonna’s biggest hits. And to make things even more fun, I was joined by my very good friend Lizzie Newton, an ‘elder Millennial’ and massive Madonna fan, who brought a fresh and exciting perspective to the tournament.
Not only did we break down each matchup, but we also recorded this one in person—turning it into a full-on listening party! 🎶💃 I had my laptop out, playing the songs as we went, so you’ll notice a different audio setup than usual, but trust me—it adds to the vibe!
🔥 In this episode, we cover: ✅ The Sweet Sixteen matchups for Madonna March Madness ✅ Some fun insights and banter on each track ✅ The ultimate question—which song should take the crown? ✅ PLUS—I reveal the results of the 2019 Prince March Madness Tournament! 🎤👑
📣 Tune In Next Week! Next week, I’ll be announcing the results of the Madonna March Madness Tournament, right before we launch into Whitney Houston March Madness—so don’t miss it!

In this episode of GenX Journeys, we’re diving into one of the most iconic Brat Pack films of the ‘80s—St. Elmo’s Fire! This classic film perfectly captures the chaos, confusion, and camaraderie of life after college, and believe it or not, there are some powerful life lessons tucked inside all the drama.
From shifting friendships to messy love, from defining success to stepping into the unknown, this movie still resonates decades later. And just like the characters in St. Elmo’s Fire, we’re all on our own journeys—figuring it out as we go.
In This Episode, We’ll Cover: ✔️ How friendships evolve over time—and why that’s okay ✔️ The hard truth about love, relationships, and why some are only meant for a season ✔️ Success isn’t a one-size-fits-all concept—so what does it mean for you? ✔️ The pressure to have life all figured out—and why that’s a myth ✔️ Why you are exactly where you need to be right now—but you won’t stay here
This is one of the most fire-up episodes I’ve done yet (see what I did there?), so buckle up, hit play, and let’s break it all down.
🎤 Question for You: What are YOUR St. Elmo’s Fire moments? Have you ever looked back at your younger self and realized how much you’ve grown? Let’s talk about it! Drop a comment or connect with me on social media, or email me.

In this week’s Power Surge, we share the incredible story of Andre “Tre” Howard III, a 10-year-old boy who showed unbelievable bravery in the face of tragedy. After a devastating plane crash, Tre instinctively shielded his younger sister, suffering a severe head injury but ultimately saving her life.
When Tre woke up after surgery, his first concern? Whether he had missed the Super Bowl. That’s the kind of die-hard Eagles fan spirit that caught the attention of A.J. Brown, who promised to visit Tre after the big game—and he kept his word. Brown’s surprise hospital visit, complete with the Eagles’ Vince Lombardi Trophy, turned into an unforgettable moment of kindness and connection.
This is a story of resilience, community, and the impact of small but powerful acts of kindness. Tune in as we honor Tre’s bravery and A.J. Brown’s generosity in this inspiring episode.
Honoring a Veteran: Christopher Sawyer Each week, we take a moment to remember a veteran from 22 Too Many, honoring those who served and whose stories must never be forgotten.
Christopher Wayne Sawyer
Christopher was funny, selfless, and deeply devoted to his family. He had a contagious laugh, a heart of gold, and a deep love for God. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, and family BBQs, but most of all, he loved spending time with his daughter, sharing hugs and running together.
His mother, Denise, shared: “Christopher was a lively jokester. He loved to make people laugh and had a heart of gold. His loss shatters my heart – he is missed and loved very much.”
We honor Christopher’s life, service, and the impact he made on those who knew him. Rest in peace. 🇺🇸❤️

Hey there, ‘80s fans! Welcome back to Throwback Thursday – Return to the '80s edition!
It’s that time of year again—March Madness! But we’re not talking about basketball here. Oh no, we’re diving into our very own Return to the '80s March Madness music tournament! 🎶🏆
Now, if you’ve been with me for a while, you might remember that this all started back in the blog days when we kicked things off with Hall & Oates. It was such a blast that I decided to keep the tradition alive, and in 2019, we brought the tournament to the podcast—starting with none other than Prince.
That’s right—His Royal Badness is taking center stage today! I put 16 of Prince’s biggest hits head-to-head in a bracket-style showdown, and you, the listeners, got to vote on which ones moved forward.
In today’s episode, I’m joined by my good friend Del Roehling, and we’re breaking down all the first-round matchups. We’ll talk about the songs, share some Prince trivia, and debate which tracks deserve to advance.
But here’s the deal—I won’t be revealing the results just yet! You’ll have to tune in to the next episode to find out which songs made it to the next round.
So, let’s take a look at our matchups:
🎤 Bracket 1: (1) When Doves Cry vs. (16) Batdance (8) I Would Die 4 U vs. (12) Delirious
🎸 Bracket 2: (4) Little Red Corvette vs. (13) Alphabet St. (5) Sign ‘O’ the Times vs. (9) Raspberry Beret
💜 Bracket 3: (2) Purple Rain vs. (15) Pop Life (7) U Got the Look vs. (11) Take Me With U
🔥 Bracket 4: (3) Let’s Go Crazy vs. (14) I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man (6) 1999 vs. (10) Kiss
Whew—what a lineup! Some of these matchups are brutal. How do you even choose between Purple Rain and Pop Life? Or When Doves Cry and Batdance? But that’s the fun of it!
So, grab your raspberry beret, lace up your purple boots, and let’s get this tournament started! 🎶🏆💜

In this episode of Power Surge, we’re honoring the late Gene Hackman, a true legend who proved that reinvention is possible at any stage of life. Hackman wasn’t a Hollywood prodigy—he was told he would never make it. But instead of accepting defeat, he pushed forward, breaking into acting in his 30s and becoming one of the most respected actors of all time.
Then, at age 74, he did something remarkable—he walked away from Hollywood on his own terms. No farewell tour, no clinging to past glory—just a smooth transition into his next passion: writing. His journey is proof that reinvention isn’t just for the young—it’s for anyone ready to embrace change and create a new chapter in life.
Episode Highlights: 🎭 From “Least Likely to Succeed” to Hollywood Legend – How Hackman defied the odds and built a legendary career. 🏆 Oscar Wins & Iconic Roles – From The French Connection to Hoosiers, how he left an unforgettable mark. 📖 A New Chapter – Why he walked away from acting and became a novelist. 🔥 Lessons in Reinvention – What we can learn from his journey and apply to our own lives.

In this episode, Del and I are joined by two of our absolute favorites—Claire Young and Caroline Connelly—who had just returned from that year’s epic voyage. They gave us the full rundown on:

But, as always, we took a few fun detours along the way, chatting about:
🏆 Ke Huy Quan’s emotional Oscar win – A moment that had us all cheering! 🎥 Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny trailer – Back when we were filled with anticipation (and just a little skepticism) for Indy’s return. 💡 And plenty more ‘80s goodness!

Originally released as an episode of Return to the '80s on December 18, 2023, this nostalgic deep dive is packed with laughs, memories, and sidebars that will make you feel like you're at your own '80s-style office Christmas party.
In this episode, we not only discuss the film’s humor and heart but also celebrate the legendary cameos and unforgettable quotes that make Scrooged a true holiday classic. You might even find yourself quoting Frank Cross by the end!
In the original episode, I mentioned rebranding Return to the '80s to We Are Generation X, but the name GenX Journeys ultimately felt like the perfect fit to continue celebrating our shared love of '80s culture and beyond.
I also talked about plans for a dedicated newsletter, which has since evolved into something even more exciting. Starting in 2025, I’ll be writing Inspiring Journeys or Journal of the Rhode Runner, and it will include a GenX section to keep the spirit of these classic conversations alive without the need for a separate newsletter.
So, grab your eggnog (or your VCR remote), and join me as we celebrate the hilarity, heart, legendary cameos, and holiday chaos of Scrooged!
💬 What are some of your favorite Christmas classics? I’d love to hear from you!
Let’s get inspired—and nostalgic—together. Enjoy the episode!

Russ and Dan dive into how they met and bonded over their shared commitment to empowering others. Together, they’re launching the Dual Coast Podcast in January 2025, with a mission to inspire listeners to move, improve their health, and achieve a balanced mind-body connection.
Topics We Discuss in This Episode:
This episode is dedicated to 22 Too Many Veteran:
Chad Contranchis In Memory of HM3 Chad Julius Contranchis USN
November 5, 1979 – September 20, 2015
Navy Corpsman /
Iraq 2003 Afghanistan 2004
In school Chad loved sports – he played football, baseball, and ran track. He knew no strangers.
Later, Chad worked for Jefferson Fiberglass and later joined the United States Navy. He served in the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars as a Medical Corpsman. He took his military job very seriously. He loved taking care of others and was proud of his work. He was “Doc”, a Hospital Corpsman on the front lines in Iraq. He took an oath to help everyone, even the injured Iraqis. He served on the USS Saipan with the 2nd Battalion – 8th Marine Regiment. He later served in Afghanistan. He was stationed in Camp LeJeune in North Carolina. After his two tours he went to Virginia Tech and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Health and Science. Afterwards he served in Maine, and there he started to experience PTSD. He tried, not letting it bother him. He met Sherry, the mother of his twins, Chad Jr. and Gabrielle. He passed away September 20, 2015.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his children, Chad Julius Contranchis Jr. and Gabrielle Judy Contranchis; his mother, Brenda Contranchis and her companion Huey Bethancourt; grandmother, Shirley Autin Contranchis; his father of 27 years, Kevin Barrios; grandmother June Barrios along with many other loving family members and friends.
Chad was a loving father, son, grandson and friend and will be sadly missed.
“My thoughts and heartfelt condolences to the family and children of Doc Contranchis, with whom I served in Iraq. He was a man not only of good honor but also of good humor, and we are all poorer for his loss. Rest peacefully, Doc. -Chef”
“I served with Chad and I say this, He will be missed. All the guys from the Marines that knew him will hold his memory in a special place for all eternity. All I remember was a young man that came to the Battalion and in a matter of days we were on a ship heading for Iraq. He was always wanting to help and always there volunteering for the extra jobs. He had a great sense of humor and will be missed. I can’t imagine how you feel and I’m sorry for your loss. HM2 Alan”

On this special episode of GenX Journeys, we revisit a fascinating conversation originally recorded for Return to the '80s on January 28, 2021. Paul and Del had the privilege of interviewing legendary rock photographer Mark "Weissguy" Weiss. Mark’s story is not just a nostalgic trip through the 80s rock scene; it’s an inspiring journey of passion, persistence, and seizing opportunities.
Mark is the creative genius behind some of the most iconic album covers of the 80s, including Twisted Sister’s Stay Hungry and Bon Jovi’s Slippery When Wet. His photographs have graced the pages of rock magazines like Circus, cementing his place as a cornerstone of 80s rock culture.
But Mark’s career wasn’t handed to him—it started with a daring hustle. He was arrested for selling photos outside a Kiss concert, and that unlikely setback led to an opportunity with Circus magazine. In this episode, Mark shares unforgettable stories, including earning the nickname “Weissguy” from Mötley Crüe, hitting the road with Ozzy Osbourne, and the wild moments behind the scenes of rock’s golden era.
Mark also shares details about his incredible coffee table book, The Decade That Rocked: The Photography of Mark "Weissguy" Weiss. This stunning collection of photos takes you on a journey through the 80s rock scene and is an absolute must-have for any fan of the era.
Additionally, at the time of this interview, Mark was collaborating with Missy Whitney on a book called Keep On Rollin' - My Fan Club Years with Kevin DuBrow & Quiet Riot. That book is now complete and available, making this a perfect moment to revisit this conversation.

In this heartfelt solo episode of Inspiring Journeys, we honor 20 incredible veterans whose lives were lost to the battle with PTSD. Each of these heroes was honored during my Marine Corps Marathon run, dedicating a mile to their memory and legacy.
The episode begins with gratitude and reflections on the transformative experiences of this year, including the rebranding of this podcast and the marathon journey itself. I also share the mission of 22 Too Many, an organization founded by Keri Jacobs to bring attention to the silent epidemic of veteran suicide. Keri joined us on Episode 27 to share her inspiring mission and her personal story, which has touched countless lives.
As I share the stories of these 20 heroes, their bravery, dedication, and humanity shine through. This episode is a tribute to their lives, a call to remember their sacrifices, and a reminder to offer compassion and support to those who may still be struggling.
Let’s walk this journey together as we celebrate the human spirit and honor these remarkable individuals.

Key Takeaways:
This episode is dedicated to 22 Too Many Veteran:
Michael McCarthy In Memory of Michael Shane McCarthy
February 19, 1982 – August 12, 2021
Navy Corpsman
Marines 2/7 Weapons Unit Afghanistan
“Michael was the most amazing human. He never considered himself, always putting the needs of the less fortunate before his own. He often gave the shirt off his own back. (As his mother, it got expensive replacing them all!) He was a phenomenal artist, loved gardening and loved all of humanity. He was extremely intelligent and that fact caused him some suffering during his lifetime.
He had helped one of the Afghan interpreters finish medical school after his mother passed away. Then he was working to bring this interpreter to the US from Afghanistan with his wife and 4 children. When the Taliban took Kabul, he lost hope of helping them and took his own life. There were quite a few interpreters he was trying to help. But this family meant so much to him.
He had done very well for a while. The PTSD really didn’t show for about 5 years really. But then things turned. I am quite certain he had a traumatic brain injury as well. He moved out to LA 7 years ago, lived as a homeless man for about 4 years, became addicted to street drugs…even went to jail for a few months. He finally accepted that he needed help and was working with the VA in LA. They got him an apartment through subsidized housing that he loved and a monthly income. They helped him with medical and dental issues too. We really thought he had turned the corner. It was a shock to all of us when he took his own life. He had been making so many plans with so many people. We spend the first week just sending screenshots and emails to each other from him…even from the day before his suicide. None of us saw anything that gave us any concern. He was even starting a foundation with the interpreter…had just finished building the website and getting 501C3 status and a friend of his had made the foundation logo for him.” Shared by his mother, Vicki

This episode is dedicated to 22 Too Many Veteran:
David Yee “David was a Navy veteran of 20 years. He was born in Reno, Nevada and made his childhood home in Sparks, Nevada. He always made friends easily. When he was young, our neighborhood had a lot of children – he was always the oldest, and the neighborhood kids looked up to him. He was an avid UNR (University of Reno) Wolfpack fan and attended as many games as he could. He was a father of 5, but his struggle with PTSD was hard on his relationships and ended in either divorce or just a split up. He has 3 other brothers that served in the Navy also. His youngest brother is currently a lieutenant serving as an air traffic controller. David loved to hunt and fish and would take his eldest to hunt also. After retiring from the Navy, David struggled with mental issues and at one time turned away from me as he felt I was prying too much into his business. I only wanted him to get help. He never felt he had a problem. He estranged himself from quite a few people and didn’t realize it was due to the issues he was struggling with. He had just gotten remarried 1 ½ years ago and had a new baby that just turned a year old in November. She will never know her dad which is sad because when he was having good days, he could be the best dad ever. I will miss his laughter and smile.” Shared by his mother, Janis States he called home: Virginia, California and Nevada Final Rest: Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, Nevada

As many of you know, I dedicate each episode to a veteran from 22 Too Many. Today, will be a slight exception as the entire episode will be dedicated to 22 Too Many! I didn't want to single out any one hero.
So, I am honored to have Keri Jacobs, co-founder of 22 Too Many, with us. Keri’s mission is deeply personal and incredibly impactful—through 22 Too Many, she works tirelessly to honor and remember military members lost to suicide or PTSD-related causes.
On this episode, Keri tells us how 22 Too Many was formed and is growing. We discuss the challenges military veterans face, the services that 22 Too Many provides, as well as the other organizations who 22 Too Many teams up with to help so many people.

On Inspiring Journeys, we explore the stories of incredible individuals who have faced life's toughest challenges and emerged stronger, with wisdom to share. Today, we have an extraordinary guest—Mike Morgan. Mike is a 30-year police veteran who served in both the City of Atlanta Police Department and the County of Suffolk PD in Long Island. During his years of service, Mike faced unimaginable situations that left him battling severe PTSD.
After struggling with the weight of his experiences, Mike discovered healing in a profound way—through plant-based medicines. Now, he’s on a mission to help others, particularly military veterans and first responders, navigate their own healing journeys from trauma, PTSD, and related issues. He is an advocate for mental health, a voice for those struggling with addiction, and an inspiration for how to reclaim life after deep hardship.
I’m honored to have Mike with us today to share his story and the important work he’s doing.
This episode is dedicated to 22 Too Many Veteran:
Craig Stout September 10, 1987 – March 12, 2022
Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 268 (HMM-268)
“Red Dragons”
Craig grew up running around, playing in the backwoods of Southeast, Ohio. He loved nature, riding motorcycles, and getting his hands dirty fixing anything and everything. He had an absolute heart of gold, a passionate spirit, a brilliant mind, and because of this he had a way of leaving an unforgettable impression on anyone he met. He made friends everywhere he went, in all parts of the country and world, because he could talk to anyone about anything. He had a way of making us all laugh at ourselves with his quick wit, funny faces, the “one finger wave,” as well as his stories of his life that was well-lived. He had a kindness that was rare in this world and his lifelong mission was to passionately protect all living and breathing beings—especially ones that couldn’t protect themselves.
Craig’s battles within himself that he fought day after day couldn’t possibly be seen to the naked eye. Even though he hurt, he continued to show love for everyone around him. However, to say this was a shock would mean that we would turn a blind eye to all the pain and suffering Craig held in his heart, body, and mind. His time serving this country, as an extremely young man, did a number on him and he is not alone in that battle at home. He had debilitating back pain, arthritis in both ankles, tinnitus and hearing loss and these ailments only scratch the surface of his physical pain. His immense physical pain added to the mental pain he already endured due to depression and PTSD.
We want his story to be told with raw truth so that it can save other veterans from the fate he chose.
Raising awareness by not painting a picture of a perfectly healthy and happy person is the first step. Although we know he is at peace now, we can’t help but wish he had actively sought the help he deserved while he was alive, with the support of his loving family and friends. We remember Craig with unconditional love and pride in our hearts and we hope his story can help others who are struggling to know that they are not alone, it is not too late and that they are loved, too.

On this episode of Inspiring journeys, I present to you Episode 2 of the GenX Journeys series. This is a very special episode to me. My heart has been heavy as it was my late cousin Cecelia's birthday this week.
Cecelia and her husband John were Paranormal Investigators, and were pretty well known in that community. They had a YouTube channel, which is still up, called Crazy Cat Paranormal. It features episodes of some of their investigations as well as podcast interviews with some big names among the Paranormal Community, including stars from the show Ghost Hunters.
We tried for a very long time to have a crossover podcast episode, and we finally made it happen! We had been shooting for Halloween season in 2021, but our schedules wouldn't allow it until December. This episode was originally posted on December 10, 2021.
This was such a blast! I was just listening back to this and I busted out laughing several times! Cecelia had such a great sense of humor. My Return to the '80s cohost, Del Roehling and I joined Cecelia, John, and Cecelia's friend since childhood, Patty. And when Del showed signs of fear, Cecelia was all over it!
Cecelia needed to have heart surgery. After one of the surgical procedures, Cecelia never woke up again. She passed away on April 23, 2022 at the age of 55.
She really lived life to the fullest and I love her and miss her so much.

One thing I love about doing this podcast is hearing the stories of people who have gone through major adversities, and came out shining and thriving on the other side. That's why I'm excited to introduce you to today's guest!

We welcome the amazing Kate DeCosta back to the show! You can check out Episode 3 if you missed her the first time around.
Kate struggled with major health issues for years and years, and nobody could figure out the cause. These ranged from digestive issues to being incorrectly being diagnosed as bipolar for 10 years. So Kate took charge and did a lot of research for years to discover that the issues stemmed from food sensitivities.
Not only is she now thriving, but she is helping others do the same (including yours truly) through her health coaching service, Integrate with Kate.
And not only that, Kate has just published her eBook, Gut Feelings.
We talk about elimination diets, food allergies, intolerances, and food sensitivities. We also discuss the connection between gut health and brain health.
Finally, we talk about Kate's amazing coaching business, Integrate With Kate as well as her Reiki practice.

Courtney Rush “SSgt Courtney Jo Rush, USAF, was my only daughter. I miss her so much. My life has been forever changed, but I try every day to focus on something positive. God has a plan. I believe that. Courtney’s death isn’t the “norm” when it comes to military suicide, or any suicide from what I’ve read. She was a smaller percent who showed no signs of PTSD. Courtney was a beautiful, successful, happy, disciplined, funny, head strong, stubborn, and motivated person.” – Gail Rush
Courtney was a crew chief for C-130’s and C-17’s. On her last deployment in Qatar, she was involved in assisting with the transport of the caskets of fallen veterans, an emotionally moving and high honor duty that she took very seriously.
Courtney and her mother, Gail, ran races together.
Their last run was “Run the Runway” at Joint Base Charleston. Gail has organized a 5k in Courtney’s memory and in memory of all veterans lost to suicide.

Welcome, everyone, to a very special episode of Inspiring Journeys! We've been on a little summer hiatus as I am working on some backend work for the show. One of the projects I'm working on is moving my original podcast Return to the '80s into the Inspiring Journeys feed, and branding this branch to GenX Journeys. I'll eventually move all the return to the '80s episodes that you will enjoy, and we will also include our monthly GenX Book Club. If there is interest, I will continue to record new GenX Journeys episodes.
And we will return to our flagship Inspiring Journeys episodes next month as we have some awesome guests lined up!
On this episode, we're taking a nostalgic detour under our new branch, GenX Journeys. To kick off this exciting transition, we're reintroducing my very first podcast episode, originally recorded on Apr 22, 2016, where I had the pleasure of co-hosting with Robert Mishou. Together, we take a deep dive into the legendary band, Journey.
My co-host Robert and I give some background on ourselves, then we get into some segments: Not Necessarily the '80s News, Shall We Play a Game?, then we get into the main topic of Journey. We go through the entire history of the band, from it's beginnings up the the point of this recording in 2016. Then Robert and I each share our top 5 Journey songs and discuss why these tracks stand out to us.
I hope you enjoy this blast from the past as much as we enjoyed creating it. So, grab your headphones, get comfy, and let's travel back together with GenX Journeys!
Also, if you want to participate by sharing your thoughts or answers to our trivia and Remember That Song segments, remember to email me at my new address: paul@inspiringjourneys.net. I would love to hear from you!

On this episode of Inspiring Journeys, Paul defies Ghostbuster Dr. Egon Spengler's advice about not crossing the streams as we welcome Suzanne Mattaboni, co-host of Paul's other show, The GenX Book Club, to this show.
Suzanne is an award-winning writer and the author of the coming-of-age novel Once in a Lifetime, which is set in the 1980s. She recently released a 2nd edition of this book, and it is the June Book of the Month for The GenX Book Club
We talk about 70s and 80s pop culture, the writing and publishing process, and the necessity to be resilient and positive in order to survive and thrive in the publishing industry.

My brother and I grew up in Coram, NY. Ever since we were little, my older brother, Danny, always wanted to be in the Marines and go to war and have a family. He loved building model cars. He loved playing in little league. He loved camping and hanging with friends. He loved to write and read. His favorite movies were the Ghostbusters movies and Star Wars Movies. He loved the New York Yankees with a passion.

As this episode was recorded on May 5 - National Missing or Murdered Indigenous Persons Awareness Day, this episode is dedicated to:
Hanna Harris
Hanna Harris was born on May 5, 1992, a citizen of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe.
She was only 21 on July 4, 2013 when she left the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation to go into nearby Lame Deer, Montana, to watch the Independence Day fireworks. She never returned home. When her family reported her missing, local law enforcement downplayed her disappearance. Four days later, a volunteer search team found her body.
It was determined that she was brutally raped and murdered.
In some tribal communities, Native American Women face murder rates that are more than 10 times the national average; homicide is the 4th leading cause of death for Native women and girls between the ages of 1 and 19, and the 5th leading cause of death for ages 20 to 24.
Almost half of all Native American women have experienced physical violence, and one of three will, at some point in their life, experience the violence and trauma of rape according to the Department of Justice.
Help support Rising Hearts to bring awareness and fight against these injustices.

Inspiring Journeys' own Kerri Nelson, and Chris Marino, whose incredible story can be heard on Episode 8 of Inspiring Journeys, completed the 2024 Boston Marathon!
We get to live vicariously through them on Marathon Monday as give their experiences from the Marathon Expo to the trip to the starting line, to the race itself. And a little potty talk in between.
This is a great episode for runners to either relive the historic marathon, or inspire them to want to run it. It is also great for non runners to go behind the scenes of a run.
This annual event is also the pinnacle of inspiration, which lives up to this podcast's name! By the time Kerri and Chris take the left on to Boylston, you'll be ready to lace up some running shoes yourself!
Also, this episode's 22 Too Many veteran is
Dirk Dastrup March 22, 1999 – July 29, 2021
Dirk was an active-duty airman, stationed at Hurlburt Field in the Florida Panhandle.
Dirk Anthony Dastrup, was born and raised in Benson, AZ. Dirk had a heart of gold. His passion was always to rescue others. He always had an ear for his friends’ troubles. He loved the ocean. He had no problem swimming at 11 o’clock at night. He was learning to snorkel and scuba dive while stationed in Florida. His heart still belonged in the desert.
He loved Bath Bombs. He had a dream to serve Veteran Families with a package of Bath Bombs to honor their service. Mom is following by taking up his cause: Dirks Dream Bath Bombs Co.
Dirk suffered with Depression caused by Military Regulations. He was receiving counseling and medication, but to no avail. It wasn’t any source of help.
Dirk was 22 years old. He left behind his mom, his step father, his 6 siblings and father. His radiant smile, dreams and love are so truly missed.

He loved hanging with his friends and his dog, taking walks in nature, and being the best comedian and prankster! He enjoyed cooking for his dad. He was big into nature and loved learning. His drawing abilities were astonishing. Artistic, smart, and hilarious are characteristics that describe him so well.
He loved his siblings very much. He was a blessing to those who got to know and love him.
He lived in Pecatonica, IL and Wildwood, FL, and has treasured friends in both places.” Shared by his mother, Leilani.

The 128th Boston Marathon took place on April 15, 2024. Your host, Paul Stroessner was in attendance for both the marathon and the expo, and this is his report.
This week's 22 Too Many veteran is
David Simpson “My Cousin David took his own life. A few nights ago, he became one of the 22 US veterans that commit suicide daily. I know it was not always this way but it is this way now. This happens 22 times a day-people feel like I do starting 22 times a day. He was either the first or the last of the day. He said goodbye on the last day of May in the last hour in his time zone. The outcry of support was overwhelming. People know. This happens too much. He knew it happened too much.
David became medically disabled. He had PTSD and had also contracted Lyme disease during his many years in service. When he returned from service, work within his community and with his fellow veterans became his service. Many also remember him from the video below. He fought for the rights of those four legged soldiers. Now all the two legged ones need to stand up for him. Did this have to be? I don’t think so.
To know how to help veterans overcome suicide, one only needs to know what a veteran who overcame suicide knew. Andrew Jones with The Ripple Effect – Helping Veterans and Families HEAL explained how he did just that. He found words in that dark place that kept him from taking his own life – familiar words “Hold your position.” Hold your position, call for support. That is what a soldier does when he is in trouble. David didn’t have these words in that dark place. All military personnel should be given these words upon their exit into civilian life. If David had orders in respect to his own life, he would have followed them.
David, if I could have said anything to you on that last hour in May it would have been hold your position and call for support. And if I can say anything to the 22 that are starting to die today it is just that: HOLD YOUR POSITION. Why did you not have these words David Michael Simpson? I am so sorry. I cannot stop thinking them now. Hold your position. Call for support.
There are so many people, so many mothers, so many fathers and brothers, wives, husbands…children who wish that their loved one had received this order. But instead these soldiers just come back and die on American soil from unseen injuries they received in battle. PTSD is not a permanent thought process and suicide is not a consistent thought. They need an order to follow when they think these thoughts. Let’s give it to them. I ask for your help. All of you. Every single one of you reading this. To the 22 veterans today who will face this darkness alone: Hold your position, call for support. You are an American life. It is the duty of the government and its military to protect you. If you are a threat to your own life, hold your position and call for support. But I cannot say “that is an order”. I am a civilian surrounded by civilians who are watching them all die. So this is just a Facebook post. They need an order to pull them back from the chaos. So give it to them. David, support was on its way. You just had to hold your position.”

James Balmonte January 17, 1998 – January 26, 2022
Load Master 21AS assigned to the 60th Air Mobility Wing, Travis AFB
SSgt James L. Balmonte was an instructor loadmaster in the 21st Airlift Squadron assigned to the 60th Air Mobility Wing, Travis Air Force Base, California as of October 2017. James was active duty, and he was part of the direct support of Operation Freedom Sentinel and Inherent Resolve.
James was a kind soul who would brighten the day of everyone he spoke to. He would use his comedic charm, cheerfulness, and great personality to make everyone feel welcomed. He had quick wit and a great sense of humor that made him a lot of friends and made people want to be around him. He was loyal to his job, his family, his friends, and his Beeliner family. He was the first person to stand up and help out wherever it was needed. He especially loved to talk about his culture, his life in Guam, and life outside the military. James enjoyed video games and hanging out with family and friends. He loved to travel around the world and try new things like snowboarding in Tahoe.

We welcome Chris Marino back to the show! Chris was on episodes 51 and 52 of Journey of the Rhode Runner when he ran his first Boston Marathon in 2021.
Then on December 3, 2022, while out on a run, Chris survived a widowmaker heart attack (which has a 10-20% survival rate). Not only has Chris survived, but is thriving. On April 15, 2024, Chris will be running his first Boston Marathon since his heart attack!
In addition to his heart attack, we discuss Chris' son Braden and his rare disease, Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD), which prompted Chris to run the Boston Marathon to begin with. And if this was not enough to take in, 3 weeks before Chris' heart attack, his wife Katie suffered a seizure!
In this epic-sode, we dive deep into each of these events. You will be truly inspired by this incredible Marino family! While many people would buckle under any of these events, the Marino family has not only survived, but are thriving!
This episode is also dedicated to the 22 Too Many hero:
Ellis Weems “Ellis was born in Landsthul, W. Germany on 21 June 1992 (the summer solstice). I was still in the military, and he was the joy of my life! He was raised in Harper Woods, Michigan. Ellis was my only child, and my mirror image who left this Earth far too soon. He loved life, and loved to put a smile on the faces of those who came in contact with him. He was active in soccer, baseball and an extreme skateboarder. He loved to eat – my goodness, my grocery bill stayed high when he was home! He was a free-spirit; always soaking up the information he received from others so that he can master it in his own life. I miss his smile and our conversations about life. I miss my Son every single day…15 July 2016 will be a constant reminder that the joy of my life is no longer here…” shared by his mom, Theresa
In the spring of 2017, Theresa ran a 5k in memory of Ellis at Ft. Bragg, NC. #22toomany#OurHeroes are #NeverForgotten
Please feel free to donate to Chris' charity #BFightsALD to help fight and bring attention to ALD.

Also, today's 22 Too Many Veteran is:
Deana Orellana Shared by her sister, Robin: “We lost Deana to a PTSD-related suicide on March 4, 2016. We didn’t even know about her diagnosis. My sister was one of the funniest and strongest women I ever knew. From a very young age, she always excelled at athletics. Her success in soccer came from her love of the game, hard work, and perseverance. Deana never failed at anything she put her mind to. She was a fun-loving and caring daughter, aunt, sister, and friend. She was an amazing scholar. She was an outstanding Marine and had recently found her calling to share her love of health and fitness with others. Deana was so brave. She served on one of the first Female Engagement Teams (FET) in OEF (Operation Enduring Freedom – Afghanistan). She never shared what she saw and went through over there. She only said it forever changed her. Although Deana’s passing is tragic, my family is trying to raise PTSD and suicide awareness by sharing her story and keeping her memory alive.” Resting Place: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela, PA Deana home state is Pennsylvania and her last residence was North Carolina #22toomany #OurHeroes are #NeverForgotten

We have another exciting episode this week as Kerri and Paul welcome Eddie Scali to the show. Eddie was a New York volunteer firefighter, then went on to an impactful 21 year career as an NYPD officer.
These days, Eddie is a warrior for mental wellness for both first responders and the general population. He started a private law enforcement online community where people can lean on each other in times of need. This led him to the amazing Project Accounted For community, which is open to everybody.
We talk to the charismatic Eddie about is experience as a volunteer firefighter at the time of the 9/11 terror attacks, his time in law enforcement, And we gain a whole new perspective of what first responders have to deal with several times a day, and how they cope with the pressure.
Eddie truly is inspiring, and is making the world a better place by building some incredible communities.
Also, we kick it a little old school, Rhode Runner style, as Eddie talks about signing up for the Long Island Half Marathon, which is taking place on May 5, 2024. He is doing this in support of the amazing organization, P.S. I Love You Day, which is a registered non-profit organization in New York State, dedicated to eradicating the stigma around mental health.
Also, today's 22 Too Many Veteran is:
Cody Hooks USAF 802nd Security Forces Squadron Lackland AFB from his mom: “My son, Cody, was loved by all who knew him; he never met a stranger. Cody always had a desire to serve in the military since he was little; he was involved all 4 years of High school in the ROTC program, where his Senior year made the highest rank as Captain. Upon graduating high school he joined the USAF and served from 2010-2013. Cody deployed to Kuwait in 2011. Cody loved spending time with family and friends. I will never understand why this happened but will forever keep his memory alive and try to help other families cope with the loss of a child. I have joined TAPS and they have helped me understand more about military suicides, I hope one day the number will be 0 and not 22+.
Other mentions include DeemedFit Clothing, who's proceeds also go to P.S. I Love You Day.

On this solo episode, I present to you my 24 goals for 2024. I learned about this from Gretchen Rubin's podcast, Happier with Gretchen Rubin.
Next episode, we will be hosting our awesome guest, Denny Krahe, of Diz Runs Radio. Denny is also a running coach, so please drop any questions below for him.
Today's 22 Too Many veteran:
Christopher Boe ‘Sgt. Christopher Boe served from 1989 to 1994 as an armor. He loved his job serving in the Montana State Guard. He volunteered to go to Kuwait. My family is all military and Christopher served for 5 years. He was a strong man and a father to four amazing kids. We were both deployed for a long time. Drove big rigs for the rest of his life until the demon came – he couldn’t get past his deployment. My brother took his life December 24, 2015.’ Shared by his sister, Kaufi
Christopher was from Helena, MT and later lived in West Linn, OR

We are thrilled to introduce you to Colette Brown! Colette is a personal wellness advocate. Her passion for wellness came from her own experience with being "unwell" for over 20 years. Once she found the solution to her health issues, she embraced a new lifestyle and is passionate about sharing her knowledge in helping others with radical transformation. On this episode, Colette shares her story of healing and resilience, and gives amazing tips that can change your life.
This episode's 22 Too Many veteran
Alexander Ferrer Alex enjoyed everything about the ocean, the way it smelled to the way the waves crashed onto themselves. He even enjoyed the sound of a boats engine far off in the distance. He had a dog he forever loved and never stopped talking about named King. Prior to becoming an officer in New Jersey, he was also a border patrol agent. As an officer, he upheld the notion of protecting those who could not protect themselves, and it carried over into his personal life for those he cared deeply about. Alex had a superb memory and was full on information from the important to the funny and useless. He was always drawn to NY and enjoyed taking the ferry. He was a role model for many of his friends’ kids, as he cared for them as if they were his own. He was the guy you would want by your side when in battle or if things started looking down.

This is a very special episode as our own Adriana Ferns is now a published author. Her memoir, Fitness to Freedom: Find Health and Self While Incarcerated is now available on Amazon.
In this episode we talk all about the book - from the events leading to Adriana's incarceration, falling down to rock bottom, then working her ass off to get physically and mentally fit, and inspiring others to do the same, as well as Adriana's thought process in publishing her book.
This is Adriana's origin story, going from substance abuse and self-destruction to using her prison time to grow into a successful Personal trainer and productive member of society. Not only is this book about personal growth, it's also a self-help for Women in Prison. Women are so underserved in the prison system and with female incarceration numbers growing, this book offers relatable real-life advice for women incarceration as well as anyone who feels they are trapped in their own personal prison.
Adriana is truly an inspiration, showing that no matter how low you are feeling, you can pull yourself up and become both physically and mentally fit. Adriana gives great advice by using herself as an example that you can do anything you set your mind to.
Enjoy this episode, and become inspired!

This week, we welcome Susan Wheeler to the Rhode Runner family! We have all heard the adage, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade". Often, that is easier said than done. However, Susan has proven time and time again that it can be done. As you can find in Susan's book, The Lemonade Diet, she was handed bushels of lemons...enough so that she has been able to make lemonade to share with all of us!
One example is a debilitating accident that resulted in breaking practically every bone in her body, including her back, as well as shattering her pelvis. 6 years later, she began running, and has gone on to run more than 25 marathons, half-marathons, and ultra-marathons! And if you read her book (which I highly recommend), this only scratches the surface of what she's been through.

Special announcement - The GenX Book Club is up and running, and we will begin discussing the first selection this October! The Book club can be found as a Facebook Group or can be found on Bookclubs.com for those of you not on Facebook.
We will select one book a month (for the time being) that members of Generation X will enjoy. It may be an autobiography/biography of a Gen X celebrity, or books that take place from the 1970s through the 1990s, or books that members of Gen X grew up reading. All generations are welcome here because we're cool like that. There will be discussions throughout the month, and a Zoom meeting at the end of the month, which may be aired on the Return to the '80s podcast. I will also try to get the author of the selected book on the call/podcast.

On this episode of Journey of the Rhode Runner, Paul is joined by the author of All the Way Strong, Celeste Joan. As Paul heads toward a career in writing, he found Celeste's YouTube/AuthorTube channel, He discovered that Celeste was releasing her debut novel, and it centers around a cross country and track runner. This is a great book to pick up now as we head into cross-country season. Paul cannot recommend this well-written book highly enough!
Paul and Celeste have a great conversation about both writing and running.
Here is a description of All the Way Strong:
I can’t go back. I can’t change things. I can’t let them see my pain.
Rain, wind, heat, or snow, high school junior Olivia Bennett is used to running no matter the circumstance. Even when the pain in her knee causes her to slow down, she still competes against herself every cross-country meet. That’s what she trained herself to do.
Until one day, the pain is too unbearable to hide from her coach. Forced to stop running until she’s cleared by a doctor, one visit with her primary care physician quickly turns into multiple visits to the hospital. When a devastating diagnosis is reached, the idea of running again slips from her grasp.
While deciding whether to fight for her past or embrace an uncertain future, Olivia does her best to focus on normal life, hoping she won’t lose more of herself along the way.
And check out this great book trailer:
Now enjoy the episode!

Welcome to a brand new episode of Journey of the Rhode Runner. This is a very special episode. Some of you may or may not know that my father, Paul Stroessner, passed away suddenly on June 3, 2021. It has been a very difficult few months. Not only did he and I share a name, but we also shared a birthday. In honor of our birthday, my mother and I recorded this episode, reflecting on my father's great life. Despite the great loss and sorry, there are plenty of funny stories, so please enjoy!

Hey everybody, I just want to let you know that this is a very important episode. With the climate the way it is, there is no way Adriana and I would want to talk about anything else right now. There is a struggle that has been going on for over four hundred years in this country, and is really brought to the forefront right now. We don't have to agree politically to agree that human rights matter. On the show today, we have Rhodes Pierre. He has been good friends with Adriana for 20 years. And I have known him from parties that Adriana has thrown over the years, as well as her wedding, which Rhodes officiated. Among many things he does, as you will hear, Rhodes is a stand-up comic. So, I had originally wanted to have him on to talk about the comedy world during this Coronavirus. Then everything literally blew up with the murder of George Floyd. We do touch on the comedy a bit here. But, the main focus is Rhodes' experiences as a Black man. The best thing we can do right now is listen. So, leave your opinions and judgments at the door, and listen to what Rhodes has to say. And don't worry, it's not all serious..cuz you know... Adriana...and if you know Rhodes...well, Rhodes.
And one last thing...I will donate $2 for every download of this episode from now until next Friday, June 19 to Showing Up For Racial Justice and to the Providence NAACP. It will be a $200 max. So please download and share.
Just one more note, about midway through, there are some audio difficulties for a very short time that I could not edit out. It may be around 20 minutes in, and doesn't last very long. Alright, now, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.

Welcome to a new episode of Journey of the Rhode Runner! This week, Adriana and Paul introduce personal trainer Orlando Lugo to the show. The gang discusses some ways to stay positive in these Corona days.
Once again, the Wim Hof method of meditation is discussed, as well as the book Breaking The Habit of Being Yourself: How to Lose Your Mind and Create a New One by Dr. Joe Dispenza. And Paul gives a shout out once again to Deena Kastor's book, Let Your Mind Run: A Memoir of Thinking My Way to Victory, which he cannot recommend highly enough.
We also discuss gratitude, and Paul reads some gratitude messages from friends and listeners of the show.
If you'd like to share something you're grateful for, please feel free to email TheRhodeRunner1@gmail.com.
This is a very fun conversation, so please enjoy!
