Interest rates are one of those things that affects everyone but very few people understand. In this episode Nish is going to explain why interest rates go up and down and how you can understand those changes to make the best decisions for your finances.
People often misconstrue what a dividend payment means. In this episode we talk through what a dividend payment actually means, how it works, and what you're giving up if you do receive them. You'll also get a sense of which types of companies pay a dividend and what a changing dividend policy could mean in terms of signaling.
People often think that university is supposed to be this time of enlightened clarity where you follow your passion. It isn't for many people. It wasn't for me nor was the journey thereafter to find my passion and then convince someone to give me a shot in a competitive industry. In this episode, I am joined by Dr. Adriana Marais, the founder of ProudlyHuman. She is pioneering new frontiers in research and technology for a resilient future resilient future on Earth, Mars and beyond. She has recently visited the Antarctic interior and the Oman desert on location scouts for Proudly Human’s Off-World Project.
Adriana is a Director at the Foundation for Space Development, an initiative of which is Africa2Moon, Africa’s first mission to the Moon, to inspire the youth of developing nations, in particular, Africa, to “Reach for the Stars” through education and science. She is also a member of the South African DHET Ministerial Task Team on the 4th Industrial Revolution, Faculty at the SingularityUniversity and Duke Corporate Education, and an astronaut candidate with the Mars One Project.

On Episode 11, I interview Dr. Tinashe Chandauka. He is a Doctor, a Rhodes Scholar and a Venture Capitalist Associate.
Tinashe was born in Zimbabwe and was educated there for primary school before moving to South Africa for high school. He was Head Boy of St Stithians Boys’ College in 2007. He studied a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) at the University of Cape Town. He went on to do a DPhil (PhD) in Surgical Sciences at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom (and he has just submitted his PhD).
Tinashe and I will speak on the following in Episode 11:
- Becoming a South African - with particular context to his journey and experiences in the transition from Zimbabwe to South Africa, studying at UCT and his journey at Oxford University.

For Episode 7 I am doing something a little different. In today’s episode I engage with a few of you, the listeners. Earlier this week, I asked for 5 people who would be keen to come onto the show, and to my pleasant surprise, ten people showed up. I was moved, so I decided, why not chat to all who came forward?
In this episode, I engage with 10 of our listeners and we briefly find out who they are, where they are from, how they are doing and what they are passionate about. I also ask them to share two or three things with friends and family who are listening to the show, and share some of their pearls of wisdom with us.
This was quite a tricky episode to navigate – getting 10 people on in under an hour was no easy feat, and there were a few technical difficulties as you might hear. But, what came through and shone through was the message that each of them shared. I thank each and every single one of them for the part they have played in building the Impactful Conversations community.
