Twenty-one young people from across London have been selected to be the 2019/20 ENO Baylis Youth Company. They work together as a company of young artists across the 2019/20 academic year, developing their stagecraft skills and creative voice through a series of encounters with professional artists, developing their own original work.
In October 2019, the group collaborated with professional writer & director Pete Cant and composer John Browne to reimagine the music and lyrics of the aria “I’ve Got a Little List” from The Mikado, taking inspiration from Gilbert and Sullivan’s satirical poke at society and the forces that govern our behaviours. Full of youthful energy, this little list offers a view of the world as seen by young people today.
Performed by the ENO Baylis Youth Company 2019/20: Afiya, Ameerah, Amy, Anastasia, Anna, Aurora, Bathseba, Elaina, Freya, Hana, Jean-Luc, Jude, Kaspars, Louis, Lulu, Maya, Nahiyan, Namih, Shanice, Tyler, and Xavier.
