A shoutout to my mentor, colleague and friend Stuart Sovatsky, a scholar of kundalini Yoga and author of “Advanced Spiritual Intimacy: The Yoga of Deep Tantric Sensuality”

Ostrolenk speaks to Christos Galanis (MFA) who is an interdisciplinary artist and human geographer who has spent the past 15 years or so tracking, and making visible, the various ’spells’ through which colonialism, human-supremacism, and narcissism inhabit and inhibit relationships - both individually and culturally. His recently launched business - Kairos - helps clients to integrate more meaning and beauty into their lives through individualised ceremonies and rituals. In addition to his academic publishing, lecturing, and ethnographic field-work, he also brings years of experience teaching workshops on walking, play, performance, kink, and eco-sexuality. A practicing Animist, he is a graduate of Stephen Jenkinson’s Orphan Wisdom School, and is completing a PhD from the University of Edinburgh.

BOOKMARKS: 00:00 Intro

01:30 Christos' life-path, describing a spiritual awakening in his early 20s and a moment of grace one morning

06:30 What led from there to working with ceremony and ritual through Kairos, focusing on humans' capacity for creating beauty

10:30 Describing temporality as medicine and the meaning of time as Kairos, Chronos, and Aion in Greek.

15:15 Christos describes contexts where tuning into Kairos supports significant beginnings, endings, and transitions in life. How to slow down and allow your being to 'catch up' with what has already transpired in your life, where perhaps you didn't have the time and space to properly mark it

22:55 Christos shares the story of a significant rite of passage that he undertook, travelling to Spain to walk a pilgrimage to support the transition of a close family member's spirit who died tragically

26:40 Christos describes how his walking and movement practice is central to his maintaining a link to receiving input from Creation, which then serves as a source for the seeds of ceremonies and rituals.

30:30 Christos uses an example from Michael's own life to walk through what it might look like to work with Kairos with a prospective client. He describes how he supports the client to 'tune-in' to the un-rational, embodied intelligence that is Kairos in order to discover what the proper way to proceed might be. Christos also describes the importance of community and gathering together to witness, and to share stories.

36:40 Michael asks Christos to describe his relationship with beauty and how it's central to his work with ceremony and ritual. Christos then recounts a youtube video which documents a chimpanzee in a state of awe and exuberance as he interacts with a waterfall.

43:02 Michael and Christos discuss how important it is to bring more ceremony and ritual into our lives, especially for those who are not connected to any of the major world religions or ancestral traditions. Christos describes how ceremonies also ground us in place and connect us to our corners of the world and also to our non-human neighbours.

49:03 Christos gives info for how to reach him and work with him

Welcome to “The Emergent Human where we explore Optimizing Health, Embodied Spirituality and Post Conventional Living. I am Michael Ostrolenk, a therapist, coach and educator and I am your host.

Ostrolenk speaks with Frederic Lowen, who is a psychotherapist, Bioenergetic therapist and Executive Director of The Alexander Lowen Foundation. He also is manager of Lowen copyrights and son of Alexander Lowen, M.D. the creator of Bioenergetic Analysis.

Frederic talks about his path to become a bioenergetic therapist which included a thirty year or so break from the somatic therapy world to purpose business interests including solar energy.

Mr. Lowen discusses the history of Bioenergetic therapy which goes all the way back to Dr Wilhelm Reich who provided therapy and instruction to his father Dr. Alexander Lowen in the 1940’s in the United States.

Frederic explains the Bioenergetic model and how it is implemented in the therapeutic setting to include assessing character structure, the clients biography and working with the energy of the body as well as its physical structure. He concludes with a discussion of the Alexander Lowen Foundation and its various educational and therapeutic offerings

Ostrolenk speaks with Steven Kessler, a psychotherapist who has studied many different healing modalities and maps of personality, including the Enneagram (with Helen Palmer), NLP, energy work, Thought Field Therapy, and EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques or tapping). For 20 years he has been a student of Lynda Caesara, studying Character Structure, the direct perception of energy, and shamanism in the lineage of Grandfather Two Bears and the Southern Seers tradition. He is the bestselling author of The 5 Personality Patterns: Your Guide to Understanding Yourself and Others and Developing Emotional Maturity.

During the interview Steven takes us through the developmental tasks a person needs to master, both in utero and during childhood, and the consequences of failing to master each of those tasks. He outlines the safety strategies we adopt to try to feel safer during that time and how each safety strategy develops into a pattern which becomes part of our personality. He then discusses how our personality patterns shape our interactions with others and the value of getting out of our personality patterns and returning to simply being present in the moment.

Ostrolenk speaks with Jenny Wade Ph.D, a professor with the Integral and Transpersonal Psychology doctoral program at the California Institute of Integral Studies, developmental psychologist, and researcher.

Dr. Wade details how she transitioned from a traditional career in marketing to one where her research of consciousness forms the basis of leadership. Dr. Wade also speaks of her work in altered states during sexual experiences, and how her own experience prompted her work in this field. She’s found that the experience of altered states during sex are much like that of mystical experiences, in that most people have a similar type of experience. Interestingly, the experience is only minimally related to orgasming and for most who have experienced altered states during sex, it has prompted a subsequent spiritual journey. Dr. Wade is now also focusing her work and research on prenatal consciousness and the experience of life between lives. Ostrolenk speaks with Sean Sessel, head of The Oculus Institute (https://www.oculusinstitute.com/) and a voracious learner with a fervent belief in the ability of the individual to better themselves. Through the Awaken Program (which shows people how to escape burnout jobs and craft careers that truly inspire them), Sean has found a means of enduring impact working with over a thousand different people.

Sean discusses how his interest in helping people craft their dream careers grew out of his strength of absorbing, processing, and transmitting information and his deep interest in esoteric studies. He details five types of jobs: 1. A toxic work environment; 2. An unfulfilling job; 3. A bridge-job (short-term enjoyable); 4. A calling job; 5. A destiny/optimal career path. Through his framework (find first what do you love, then what the world needs, then how do you make money with it, and finally develop how do you get good at it), he helps his clients get to at least a calling job.

Sean aims to ensure potential clients start with the best-fit program for their current situation. To find out more about his work, visit www.oculusinstitute.com/purposequiz. The quiz will let you know where you fall on the metrics of career fulfillment, financial success, and internal alignment and recommend which program is best for you.

Ostrolenk speaks to professional photographer Beau Simmons and Army Rangers Dan Blakeley and Tom Amenta about their new book “The Twenty-Year War: A Photo Journal Dedicated to Veterans of the Global War on Terror and Their Stories.”

In the book, American combat veterans open up about their military service, the hard realities of combat, their transitions post-military, and what it’s like to find purpose and create new lives.

In the interview they discuss what it was like to create the book which included visiting 42 states in 61 days, traveling 16,000 miles. The book includes 71 unique veteran voices. The conversation is wide ranging and includes Dan discussing three phases of leaving military service which include Phase one: Out of the Fight; Phase two: No Uniform, Now What?; and Phase three: Self-Reflection. He acknowledges, though, that this is not necessarily everyone’s path. Beau speaks of his learning to move beyond the self and serving something bigger than oneself as a result of the road trips to visit the 71 vets. Tom discusses his inner work to help heal from combat.

The interview also includes a discussion on taboo topics, the need for tribe, and invisible wounds. They also discuss specific interviews and what they meant to each of the three creators. They end the conversation with the lessons they want the listening audience and hopeful book buyers to take away from the book.

Today I speak with Luba Vangelova (http://www.lubavangelova.com/), a co-founder of several pioneering, mixed-ages co-learning groups for independent learners, including The Hub (https://thehub.community/), and author of numerous articles on the future of learning for media outlets such as The Atlantic and the NPR/PBS MindShift websites.

Vangelova discusses conventional education, specifically how the approach does not adapt to the various needs and skills of individual children. She details alternative models in which children are a part of the selection process of their learning. In response to concerns often raised about alternative methods of education, Vangelova notes that children, with rare exceptions, have an innate drive to learn the skills required to be productive members of a community. Key among the benefits is that children are responsible contributors to their own educational process, fostering drive, ownership, and self-determination.

Welcome to the Emergent Human with Michael Ostrolenk, where we explore optimizing health, embodied spirituality, and post-conventional living.

Today I speak with Antero Alli, author of two books advancing Timothy Leary’s 8-Circuit Brain model: “Angel Tech” published in 1985 and “The Eight-Circuit Brain: Navigational Strategies for the Energetic Body”, published in 2009.

Alli discusses his work with the 8-Circuit Brain model, which has been endorsed by Timothy Leary and by Robert Anton Wilson. The 8-Circuit Brain model posits eight interactive functions of Intelligence: physio-biological intelligence of survival, emotional-territorial intelligence and the will to power, symbolic-conceptual intelligence of intellectual acuity, social-moral intelligence and empathy with others, somatic intelligence of body wisdom and capacity for bliss, psychic intelligence of the self-aware brain and CNS, mytho-poetic intelligence of the planetary entity and DNA Matrix, and quantum-nonlocal intelligence of the mysterious singularity.

Alli provides an overview of the first four circuits, the survival circuits, which focus on humans’ physical, emotional, spatial, informational, social, moral, and sexual intelligence required to survive on the planet. Alli then discusses the upper circuits, the post-survival circuits. There are various methods that can bring a person to experience the upper-level circuits, and Alli describes the benefits and potential drawbacks of each circuit, depending on the level of engagement

Welcome to the Emergent Human with Michael Ostrolenk, where we explore optimizing health, embodied spirituality, and post-conventional living.

Today I speak with Dr. Leslie Ellis, a leading expert in the use of somatic approaches in psychotherapy, in particular for working with dreams, nightmares and the effects of trauma. She is the author of A Clinician’s Guide to Dream Therapy (https://www.amazon.com/Clinicians-Guide-Dream-Therapy-Implementing-ebook/dp/B07S2T5MJ4) and offers many training opportunities in embodied, experiential dreamwork based on her book.

Dr. Ellis discusses the value of engaging clients in dream work, as it helps point out salient emotional concerns, helps limit biased conscious editing, provides new perspectives on issues, and can serve as a diagnostic tool. Dreams often pick up on things which affect us during the day, even if we are not consciously aware of it. Dr. Ellis details how one could understand key life events through paying attention to trends in dreams and lends theories on how dreams may be predictive of future events. She also discusses indigenous populations’ approaches to dreaming and theories on how the world may be dreaming through us.

Ostrolenk, host of The Emergent Human, speaks with Brian C. Muraresku, an alumnus of Georgetown Law, member of the New York Bar, and author of The Immortality Key: The Secret History of the Religion with No Name. Muraresku’s book is a groundbreaking dive into the role psychedelics played in the origins of Western civilization. Muraresku discusses what drove his interest in researching psychedelics and what led him to travel the globe in search of this story. The importance of this research, Muraresku explains, lies in our inheritance of Greco-Roman traditions as the foundation of our Western civilization. Muraresku also details the evidence behind the use of psychedelics by spiritual seekers in Ancient Greece, in the Roman Empire, the Pagan Continuity Hypothesis, and the transition of the Pagan Roman Empire to a Christian Empire. Lastly, Muraresku discusses what this research has meant for his own faith journey and his continued work on the topic through a follow-up book and documentary series.

Welcome to the Emergent Human with Michael Ostrolenk, where we explore optimizing health, embodied spirituality, and post-conventional living.

Today I’d like to welcome back Ryan Frisinger, an interdisciplinary specialist operating at the intersections of medicine, consciousness and culture.

Following my last call with Frisinger, in which we explored the complex relationship between humans and animals, Frisinger dives into human habitats. Frisinger discusses transitions from vernacular architecture to modern structures and the value of using local materials. Drawing on Curitiba, Brazil as one example, Frisinger details how an existing model/framework can be creatively adapted for more functionality, sustainability, and enhanced for user experience.

Frisinger offers some recommendations for creating a space that is more conducive to health and happiness: · Think about the space that you want · Think about what it is you want to do and how to make your space conducive to doing those things · Incorporate plants into the environment for the relationship for cleaning the air and caring for a living thing

Welcome to the Emergent Human, with Michael Ostrolenk where we explore optimizing health, embodied spirituality, and post-conventional living.

Today’s guest is Ryan Frisinger, an interdisciplinary specialist operating at the intersections of medicine, consciousness and culture.

Ostrolenk and Frisinger discuss the complex relationship of humans and animals, including the ownership of animals and the ethics of eating meat. Frisinger details the complexity of meat consumption, including the importance of animal protein in human diets, the ways in which killing animals has evolved in the modern world, and how we can feed the large number of people who live on this earth.

Frisinger encourages listeners to use higher levels of consciousness to entertain the idea that our pets have a complex emotional life that cannot be fully understood by humans. This can assist in humans endeavor to walk a fine line between being caretakers and allies while understanding there is limited room on earth for all animals to roam free. Lastly, Frisinger offers that humans can consider how our own reproduction affects other species.

Frisinger recommends a few actions humans can take to foster a loving relationship and support their animals: - Look at your animals diet and consider the value of raw foods - Recognizing your animal's environment and what they love to explore - Appreciate your animal's space and try to learn their needs

Diego de Soto, social entrepreneur and writer, guest hosts today’s #ORadio show during which De Soto interviews Jim Turner, Cofounder of the Transpartisan Review (http://www.transpartisanreview.org/) and Board Chair of Citizens for Health and Voice for HOPE. Turner begins by discussing the Solution Voters Strategy (http://www.transpartisanreview.org/beating/), a method to identify and mobilize ‘solution voters’ – citizens who focus their vote on solving the world’s problems rather than solely engaging in the left-right duopoly of politics. Turner also discusses the Transpartisan Matrix (http://www.transpartisanreview.org/the-transpartisan-matrix/), a four-square matrix that acts as a multidimensional political spectrum within which each voter falls along a range of right-to-left and freedom-to-order on any given issue. Turner details how solution-oriented voting can allow voters to more comfortably articulate their views in the context of solutions, rather than forced into a right-left dichotomy. De Soto and Turner also discuss the relation of this work to Maslow and the hierarchy of needs. Turner discusses several issues through this framework including acupuncture, vaccines, national debt, and more.

Ostrolenk speaks with Patricia Karnowski, who has been helping women get pregnant naturally for more than 19 years. She has a masters degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York City. Karnowski discusses the path that led her to this work and her experience with women around the globe. Despite cultural differences, she’s come to learn that there is a near universal lack of understanding among women about their own body and fertility. When helping clients become pregnant, she focuses on their body holistically, and when creating custom-made formulas, she reviews and analyzes your health history to gain an understanding of exactly how your body works. Karnowski also discusses her own transition to minimalism and the Van Life movement.

Ostrolenk speaks with Serge Prengel, LMHC and author of Inspirational Fables: Bedtime Stories for Your Inner Child. Prengel details his experience guiding clients away from operating with a reactive mind, which is a primitive way of responding to stimuli. His view is that the mind can respond in a more positive and constructive way, and the body is involved in the process of response. Prengel discusses examples of relationship dynamics, in which one person plays the role of a pursuer and the other person plays the role of the distancer, which intrinsically involves fear and reactivity. Not only is the mind responding in these situations, but the body is as well. Ostrolenk continues his conversation with Dan Grazier, Jack Shanahan Fellow with the Project on Government Oversight (POGO), on the F-35. The F-35 is back in the news following two key events: its bombing missions in Afghanistan and a crash in South Carolina. Grazier updates the audience on current production levels of the F-35, as well as the ongoing issues with its operations, noting that although many issues are known, simulations are insufficient at providing insight into the F-35’s capacity against enemy aircraft. Grazier also touches upon why the F-35 remains the wrong aircraft for many of the US’s operational needs as it is built for too narrow of a purpose. Grazier concludes on lessons learned upon which he hopes we can build more successful aircraft programs.

Ostrolenk speaks with Christopher Preble, Vice President for Defense and Foreign Policy Studies at the Cato Institute. Ostrolenk and Preble discuss the recent passage of the NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) without provisions for BRAC (Base Realignment and Closure). Preble details the common arguments against BRAC – which likely resulted in its lack of inclusion in NDAA – and the reasons these arguments hold little weight. Even in the event of large-scale military growth, the military would still have nearly 20 percent excess capacity. Secondly, contrary to the claim that maintaining unnecessary military bases protects local communities from economic harm, the repurposing of bases often spurs greater economic activity. Preble concludes by discussing the likelihood of base realignments and closures in 2018 despite the lack of inclusion in NDAA, and the other efforts being undertaken to allow the U.S. military to more efficiently deploy resources while maintaining its war-fighting capabilities. Ostrolenk speaks with Russ Greene, Director of Government Relations and Research for CrossFit, on potential regulations that threaten CrossFit operations and more broadly on how these legislative actions represent the regulatory capture prevalent in our country. Since its founding in 2003, CrossFit has grown to encompass 14,000 gyms and affiliated business, all of which are broadly permitted to set their own rules of operation. Legislation has since been proposed that requires personal trainers to have licenses to operate that excludes CrossFit credentials as a qualifying license. This would require CrossFit trainers to obtain licensing from the competitors who are lobbying for this legislation. Greene further explains the role of the food and beverage industry behind the advocacy for this legislation, and how it has resulted in regulatory capture of the organizations – including the CDC – who are tasked with protecting the American consumer. Ostrolenk continues his conversation with Dan Grazier, Jack Shanahan Fellow with the Project on Government Oversight (POGO, on the F-35. The United States Government continues to purchase F-35s at an alarming rate, including plans to purchase 94 F-35s in fiscal year 2018, despite the fact that the design is incomplete, numerous operational issues have been identified, and the operational testing period has not yet started. The handling of the acquisition of F-35s runs in stark contrast to the A-10, which was purposely designed to be a ground attack aircraft, making it effective and well regarded. Now, with discussion not only for additional F-35 purchases, but the possibility of its replacing some A-10s, the American people should be concerned about the safety and effectiveness of their armed forces, as well as the waste of their taxpayer dollars.

Ostrolenk speaks with Dan Grazier, a Jack Shanahan Fellow at the Project on Government Oversight, on the F-35 and specifically its different variants, challenges faced in replacing other aircraft, and why the American taxpayer should care. Unlike the John Boyd perspective on military reform, which Grazier explains in more detail, the F-35 places significant emphasis on hardware, rather than the people and ideas that should drive aircraft creation. The F-35 was created to replace much of the current aircraft used by the Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force, as an all-in-one fighter plane, bomber, and air support platform. However, in trying to create one aircraft to serve all these purposes, the F-35 had to cater to too many objectives to do any one of them well. Additionally, building an aircraft that seeks multiple purposes makes its creation and maintenance more expensive. Grazier advocates for a less complicated system of aircraft building that instead focuses on specific use, ultimately leading to greater efficiency. Ostrolenk speaks with Lora Lumpe, Senior Policy Advisor at the Open Society Policy Center, on the status of U.S. military aid. The United States government spends roughly 20 billion dollars on security assistance through both the State Department and the Department of Defense; however, the true amount, Lumpe points out, is difficult to determine. Spending is done through numerous different pots of money making it difficult not only for citizens, but also members of government oversight committees, to know how and where money is being spent. Without a comprehensive budget and increased transparency, it is difficult to know how the programs are interacting, what overall impact they're having, and if the U.S. is reaching its goals. Most importantly, if the U.S. wants to spend money to ensure foreign governments are accountable and open to their people, it should model such behavior itself.

In their conversation, Hackley details her documentary film project “A Child’s Guide to War,” which seeks to bridge the divide between military and civilians in America. While less than one percent of Americans have served in the military, Hackley advocates that all citizens have a role to play in the discussion of American military service and war. Furthermore, nearly two million American children have a parent who has served in war, inevitably impacting these families greatly. Through the stories in “A Child’s Guide to War,” we can begin to bridge the gap by promoting all citizens to support these families and for all parties to engage in productive conversations on war.

Ostrolenk speaks with Constitutional Scholar Bruce Fein on the Declaration of Independence and its relevance today. Fein comments that in the rights-centered universe created by the Declaration, the purpose of the government is to secure the rights of the people, and the power to do so is given through the peoples’ consent. However, as transparency in government is largely absent, citizens today lack adequate information to give consent to govern. A liberty-centered universe no longer exists and America is no longer governed by the consent of the people. In this context, the relevance of the Declaration of Independence today is to act as a blueprint for government reform.

Fein discusses the agreement must be understood in the context of historical US-Iran relations, and how misguided U.S. foreign policy in the region has created the power vacuum that precedes the agreement. The United States’ inability to understand the ramifications of its foreign policy actions has led to this agreement, ultimately creating a cure that are worse than the disease.

Ostrolenk speaks with Geordie Young, Civilian Team Co-Chair of the True Patriot Love Foundation. Young first discovered the True Patriot Love Foundation after being inspired by the Unbeatable Mind Foundation to search out a cause through which he could contribute to his community. The True Patriot Love Foundation works with veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces by hosting global expeditions, which help bridge the gap between military and civilian communities. In January 2016, on an expedition Young has helped to organize, a team of civilians and Canadian veterans will hike Mount Vinson, the highest point in Antarctica. Young describes that the purpose of this mission is three-fold: to introduce civilian leaders to veterans and the amble talent and motivation that they bring home, to raise awareness and funds around the cause, and to instill confidence and purpose in veterans, many of whom are recovering from physical injuries.

Ostrolenk continues previous conversations with Coach Kiki on transpersonal psychology, and the various models he uses in his work as a coach. Transpersonal therapy seeks to open believers up to a greater reality than the one currently known; the focus is not on specific mythical or religious beliefs, but rather how a person can develop their own personal journey and use behaviors to live fulfilling lives. Incorporating this in to his work, Ostrolenk describes the five pillars he seeks to explore with his coaching clients: diet and nutrition, sleep patterns, movement and exercise, stress management, and social life. Ostrolenk then gives various examples of the work that can be done with this holistic approach. Although not used in his work, Ostrolenk also explains the use of psychedelics and various medicines in helping a personal to unlock from set patterns of behavior and thought. Ostrolenk concludes with some overarching ideas that are key to successful coaching, including accountability, truly hearing and knowing a personal, and having gratitude.

This relatively new think tank helps facilitate new models of policy change by harnessing innovated, underutilized ideas. Hurlburt draws on recent New America projects, including her research into the transpartisan approaches to criminal justice reform, Pentagon budget reform and climate change. She also elaborates on the disconnect between ideas and politics, and how confidence in one’s own beliefs, and an open mind to others, can help bridge the gap. Ostrolenk speaks with Jim Turner (Chairman of Citizens for Health and President of Voice for Hope) and Roger Jahnke (Doctor of Oriental Medicine and Director of Health Action) on the state of health care. Ostrolenk notes that today's policy conversations surround supporting or repealing Obamacare. Those conversations are about who should pay for medicine in America and who controls those decisions. As important as that conversation might be, another conversation needs to take place which is what would health promoting systems actually look like in America. Commenting on this, Jahnke describes how health care systems are increasingly incorporating integrated medical systems, and individuals are increasingly engaged in their own personal wellness. Jahnke also describes the Healer Within concept, through which each person is born with a finite amount of rehabilitating power, which can either be maximized or overused. Following these ideas, the conversation evolves to a discussion on the duality of our current system: a trend towards centralized control of health care alongside a decentralized trend of people utilizing technology and information to take a proactive role in their own wellness. Jahnke concludes by asking if this needs to be a debate: do we have to take a side, or is the answer in the integration of this apparent duality within the context of spontaneous order?

Ostrolenk speaks with Jeff Kuhland, a lifetime fitness professional and trainer with MovNat. Jeff details his own background in exercise and fitness, and how MovNat ultimately changed his perspective for the better. Founded by Erwan Le Corre, MovNat is a physical education system designed to teach us to move naturally, through our natural range of human movements. Unlike other healthy habits such as diet, Jeff explains, we have become disassociated from healthy movements, as they are no longer required within our lifestyles. Yet it is key to maintaining our health and decreasing the risk of injury. Focusing on breathing, balance, tension, relaxation, sequence, and timing, MovNat seeks to expand their program in to school systems. Rather than having to rehabilitate adults to moving well, they desire to teach children natural movements that they maintain throughout their lives. The ability to move well, Jeff concludes, is the ability to be healthy.

Ostrolenk continues with part II of being interviewed by Kiki Weingarten, covering topics including government overreach, the 4th amendment, transpartisan coalitions, and his larger strategic plan for the Liberty Coalition. Ostrolenk begins by explaining his libertarian sensibilities, which differ from being a libertarian in title. His views on the 4th amendment are shaped by the fact that the founding fathers created our country with libertarian principles; Although they were not aware of the technological changes we would someday see, any reinterpretation of the 4th amendment to today’s realities must still be done with the same intention to protect privacy and liberty. Lastly, his libertarian sensibilities shape his overall mindset; Ostrolenk distinguishes between a liberty mindset and a security mindset, and why he identifies with the former.

Different mindsets can, however, still collaborate for progress. Ostrolenk discusses his training as a transpersonal therapist and how it has helped him with his work on transpartisan coalitions by humanizing the political process, ultimately creating the space for political dialogue. Lastly, Ostrolenk touches on several issues including education and health, and how an open political dialogue can help solve many of the issues we face.

Ostrolenk speaks with Colonel Doug MacGregor on military structures, namely Russia’s and America’s. In addressing the critical questions of military strategy, Colonel MacGregor speaks from the standpoint of Russia on who, where, and when they should fight. Profoundly shaped by WWII, Russia’s military is a unified command that brings to bear all power under Putin’s control. The United States, in contrast, lacks any coherent military structure, intervening on ideology rather than concrete interests, and failing to consider unintended consequences. Great powers retain great armed forces, but not excessive forces, and the current US military mocks a 1940's structure and Cold War policies. Colonel MacGregor argues it is imperative the United States military be reduced in size, reformed, restructured, and then expanded from a modern foundation.

Rather than an individualistic approach that works to alter personal chemistry, utilizing sacred medicines allows an individual to take a deep-dive in to the root causes of various troubles, and explore cures.
