What is the one thing all mothers want to know? It’s this... Will my child ever heal? The answer is YES. Today, Liza interviews Ethan Pompeo, Founder of Green Valley Nutrition, a top-selling CBD oil brand.

Ethan shares how his life was suddenly interrupted by PANS/PANDAS when he was thirteen. He suffered from an onset of tics, as well as OCD. Like most children, the journey for a diagnosis and treatment seemed endless and frustrating. There was no magic pill that healed him. However, Ethan did overcome this complex condition and shares the practices beyond medication that helped him including foundational changes like a morning routine, proper nutrition, passion and hobbies, weight lifting, and CBD. Ethan’s passion for his community and his products continue to heal him long term.

Today it is estimated that 1 in 200 children in the U.S. alone experience PANDAS/PANS. You are not alone. Ethan’s story will give you the inspiration and validation that you are looking for in this journey. Healing is possible and our children are here to change the world.

Why are some children chronically ill? What’s happening? In this episode, Liza gets to the root of these topics with Dr. Jaban Moore, Doctor of Chiropractic. Dr. Jaban and his practice, The Redefining Wellness Center, are dedicated to helping clients and children discover the root causes of their chronic symptoms. He specializes in Lyme disease, Lyme co-infections, PANS/PANDAS, autism, parasitic infections, environmental toxicities, and mitochondrial support.

In order to understand why our children are struggling, we actually have to go back and examine ourselves, the mothers. What are we eating? What are we drinking? How would you describe your toxic load before having kids? Dr. Jaban stresses the importance of creating a safe environment for our children, not just in terms of toxicities, but also within our families and homes. We need to prioritize feeling safe in our homes and in our bodies.

Dr. Jaban also outlines an overall roadmap he utilizes in healing children from root causes including Lyme, PANS, mold and metals. It’s understandable that most parents are urgently looking for medicine or pills to eliminate the pain quickly. However, Dr. Jaban discusses why his approach works in phases and shares the type of results we can expect.

If your family is affected by mental health struggles, mold, Lyme, PANS, autism, this is an important episode to hear.

More about Liza’s Guest:

Dr. Jaban Moore is a Doctor of Chiropractic located in Kansas City, MO, who works virtually with clients through functional medicine protocols to assist them in overcoming chronic health conditions and symptoms. At age 25, he went from being an award-winning college athlete to not being able to get out of bed. He sought out countless doctors and appointments looking for answers to his debilitating symptoms, but doctors only gave him “band-aid” solutions that did not resolve his problems.

He was later diagnosed with Lyme disease. Once he overcame this complex infection, he dedicated his practice, The Redefining Wellness Center, to helping clients discover the root causes of their chronic symptoms. Dr. Moore specializes in Lyme disease, Lyme co-infections, PANS/PANDAS, autism, parasitic infections, environmental toxicities, and mitochondrial support.

Dr. Moore and his team at The Redefining Wellness Center see clients virtually. Visit his website, where you can gain access to education, live videos, and free programs. Additionally, you may book a free discovery call if you are interested in working with Dr. Moore.

How do you know when your child’s condition is more than their learning disabilities and beyond the umbrella of neurodiversity? Liza’s guest today is CC Davis. CC is a certified wellness and mindset coach. She is passionate about helping other moms and she learned the most from her number one client – Herself.

CC’s story is much like other moms in our complex community. While her daughter was diagnosed with several learning disabilities under the neurodivergent umbrella, improvements were not being made. In fact, her daughter’s condition worsened. It was the help of other mothers along the way that continued to bring CC the hope and awareness she needed. CC made it out of the darkness and is living an empowered parenting life. In this interview CC shares her daughter’s story and provides valuable mindset tools and practical advice you can use right now to help you start shifting out of negativity and into empowerment. This conversation is all about peeling away those tough onion layers and implementing the tools that create lasting change, not just for us, but for our kids who are healing. We discuss mindfulness, accountability, affirmations and manifesting an empowered life. Get out of survival mode and listen today.

More about Liza’s Guest:

CC Davis is a certified wellness & mindset coach who is passionate about helping other moms restore their bodies, minds, and spirits. After struggling for many years, CC cured her own chronic pain and transformed into her most energetic, strongest self. CC’s Resilience Coaching is for any woman who wants more from life but might just need a little encouragement and support to get there.

CC is a mom to 3 amazing kids. While she rarely shares specifics about her kids, CC openly shares her own journey of a struggling mom facing challenges and crises beyond what she’s ever felt capable of handling. Made To Be Their Mom was born from a reminder by another special needs mom on a particularly hard day when CC was lost, exhausted, scared, and totally overwhelmed.

Now CC is writing a book entitled Made To Be Their Mom: Affirmations for Hope & Resilience. She’s especially passionate about connecting with and supporting mamas dealing with any and all of the following: PANS/PANDAS, autism/PDA, ADHD, mold illness & remediation, OCD, school avoidance, unschooling, sleep issues.

In addition to coaching, CC owns and operates Corporate Cakes alongside her husband. She credits her many, many mindset tools and consistent focus on radical self-care with staying sane and grounded during all of the above.

Navigating illness (mental or physical) with our teenagers and young adults is a whole different ballgame. We need to empower them, yet at the same time we are still the caretaker. A lot of our work is behind the scenes and our role is vital. Knowing who is the decision-maker can also be tricky.

Jessica Snajder makes this process look easy. In this episode, Jessica shares the story of how she empowered her daughter Grace through the diagnosis and different treatments in her daughter’s Lyme journey. Often times, a healing journey can create conflict between family members. Jessica’s relationship with her daughter was strengthened. If you are navigating a challenge with your teenager or young adult, tune in to this inspiring episode.

More about Liza’s Guest:

Jessica Snajder is the founder and executive director of Partner in Lyme, a Connecticut based nonprofit whose mission is to carry the burden of Lyme. Partner in Lyme came about as a way to make something positive out of her daughter’s experience with Lyme disease. Because she could not find the silver lining in Lyme, she set out to make one and has provided 25 people with financial assistance to afford treatment and has counselled countless people in what to do when bit by a tick, how to test ticks, and how to connect with local nonprofits. This work is heartbreakingly meaningful.

Recently diagnosed with Lyme disease herself, Jessica is navigating her way through the process of healing by focusing on the foundations of health. Her own diagnosis has given Jessica a greater insight into the struggle so many with Lyme face and a greater empathy for all her daughter has endured. With her husband, two daughters, and her goldendoodle Crosby, she is creating a life that she never imagined, but is deeply appreciate of.

We’ve all been there… on the days where the meltdowns last extra long and we are frustrated, isolated, and barely surviving. It’s exceptionally hard when you have an exceptional child. In this episode, Liza interviews Megan Champion, mother, educator, and community creator dedicated to supporting moms with neurodivergent kids. Megan shares her story of how she overcame her feelings of shame and guilt while tirelessly navigating those early years with her twice-exceptional son. She discusses the importance of community with other moms, self-forgiveness, and validation. More importantly, Megan tells us how she finally stepped into her parenting empowerment by finding the mom she needed to be from within, instead of following all the other parenting advice for typical kids. If your child is neurodivergent, twice-exceptional, autistic, or has a learning difference, this is a must-listen. Learn why following your intuition is the best course of action for our neurodivergent families.

About Liza’s Guest, Brandi Dean

In 2015, Brandi Dean founded the Dean Center for Tick-Borne Illness at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. Her personal experience as a young mother with Lyme disease led her to identify a need for a multidisciplinary center to treat individuals suffering from persistent tick-borne illness. Acting as an advisor and advocate, she joined hands with both physicians and leadership at Spaulding Rehab to help open the first center embedded in a major academic medical institution focused on treating patients with chronic tick-borne illnesses. Brandi continues to serve as an active Advisory Board member for the Dean Center for Tick-Borne Illness. Her story has been featured in the Boston Globe, DoctorOz.com, Good Housekeeping, and WCVB.

Brandi has been a passionate advocate for patients with Lyme disease since 2011 and most recently for children and adolescents with PANS and PANDAS. Her 10-year-old son, Finn, was diagnosed with PANS in 2020, whom she credits her physicians for his remarkable recovery. His story is featured on Lymedisease.org and Fox News Boston.

Brandi’s determination to make a positive difference in the lives of patients with Lyme disease is additionally demonstrated in her leadership of Ride Out Lyme, a charity event she designed and that raises financial grants for adults with the tick-borne illness. The event is held annually at SoulCycle in Boston, NYC, and Los Angeles with expansion into other cities. She also serves on the Board for the Alex Manfull Fund.

Prior to her work in the field of Lyme disease, Brandi's professional life included a four-year tour of duty in the United States Coast Guard. Brandi also has a decade of experience in leadership in the hospitality industry and has a degree in Business from Boston University.

Meet Liza’s guest, Jenna Overbaugh

I've been working with individuals who have OCD, anxiety, and related conditions since 2008. My work includes nearly 10 years at the residential level of care as well as intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient levels. In addition to the above, I have a 4 year old and also struggled with OCD myself, specifically postpartum OCD. Since having my son in 2018, I started what is now one of the largest mom support groups in Wisconsin.

Some people devote their lives to living healthy. That was the case for Liza’s guest, Deborah Herlax Enos. Deborah is a certified nutritionist and has been in the healthcare industry for over 30 years, so she was the last person you’d expect to be diagnosed with breast cancer.

Through Deborah’s journey, Liza served as her cancer mentor and the two reflect on how the experience changes women and what Deborah is most grateful for today. First, she stopped being a lifelong people-pleaser and discusses the distinction between being a peacekeeper and a peacemaker. A peacemaker can sometimes ruffle feathers, but comes from a place of empowerment and also stems from love. Moreover, Deborah re-learned how to authentically love herself, instead of loving the idea of what people think of her. You do not need a cancer diagnosis to self-heal and find self-love. Do you ever wish life could flow seamlessly and not be so hard? In this episode, Liza invites spiritual practitioner, Beth Gordon, to share her story of empowerment and how she overcame anxiety. The beauty of Beth’s story is, it revolves around a very relatable moment of stress and feeling paralyzed by fear. While transporting her ill father across the country, she experienced “the flow” of ease and infinite possibilities by simply getting present. When we are stuck in fear and anxiety, we actually wall off this natural flow, which is always here to support us. Panic and stress cut off our easy access to life. To experience this natural flow of ease, we first need to be open and hold the awareness to stay present. Listen to Beth’s story and start igniting your own natural flow of infinite possibilities.

In this episode, Liza interviews Ife Thomas, motivational speaker and the author of “Powerlift Your Career: Everything You Need To Succeed.” Ife is also a mental health advocate and founder of MindWorkOut, a company helping to improve wellbeing. Ife also happens to be autistic, just like her son.

Growing up, Ife always knew she had sensory processing disorders, but she never let them hold her back. In fact, her hyper fixations later became her greatest superpower, and she was able to leverage her fixations by creating methodical rituals – intentional routines centered around goal setting, gratitude, and self-love which transformed this once shy introvert into the confidence queen and successful entrepreneur you see today.

Ife’s story speaks to neurodiversity, autism, gratitude, and confidence! What is Ife most grateful for? The unconditional love and encouragement from her adoptive parents. Listen to this episode as she brings her superpower to the forefront of her life and she will inspire you to do the same.

Have you ever questioned your own happiness and wondered, “How the heck is everyone else so dang happy?” If so, you are not alone. Today’s guest is Penny Williams, founder of ParentingADHDandAutism.com, host of the Parenting ADHD Podcast, and award-winning author of four books on parenting kids with ADHD, including Boy Without Instructions.

For a long time, Penny believed she was not destined to be happy. She believed “happy people” just had something she didn’t have. So, she began a very intentional journey of learning what makes people happy, where she stumbled on the power of practicing neutrality. She went on to actively transform her victim mindset into a survivor mindset! And all that “hippy dippy” talk of gratitude, positivity, choice and hope – well there is something to it in fostering happiness.

Listen to this honest and warm conversation between two moms who have both struggled in raising neurodivergent children (ADD, ADHD, ASD) and reshaped their mindset to become authentically happy.

In this episode, Liza dives into the concept of self-sacrifice with Transformational Coach, Rita Hyland. When moms and care-takers self-sacrifice, they injure themselves and their kids. So why surrender and allow self-injury? For starters, we think we are helping our kids, but in actuality, we are harming them.

Self-sacrifice shows up when we give up a part of ourselves and make our children more important. Examples of self-sacrifice include the following:

  • You don’t have any time for yourself.
  • You can’t make space for a morning routine.
  • You are over-extended and over-tired.

Sound familiar? Self-sacrifice is actually selfish and comes from a place of fear. When we are in self-sacrificing moments, we are displaying harmful behaviors such as:

  1. Not allowing our kids to figure things out on their own.
  2. Denying our children the space to be unhappy.
  3. Training them to believe they need something from us.
  4. Modeling the belief that our children don’t have what it takes to make it.
  5. Showing them that they are not capable.

Together, Liza and Rita discuss practical ways to stop self-sacrificing including:

  • Take care of yourself first.
  • Have faith your child will be fine and believe in them.
  • Allow your child to experience their life experiences.
