The Wolslely Files could actually be recorded anywhere at any time. Each show will be a mish mash of records pulled out of my Mr Trebus like record room. You''ll get a mixture of 1950's (Maybe earlier) right through to 1960's stuff, along with a handful of other old tosh that wouldn't fit in anywhere else.
This episode attempts to scratch the surface of black music of the 50's and 60's....and believe me, this show barely scratches the surface. A small selection of wild rock'n'roll, a sprinkling of soul and even a pinch of ska. There has to be another one to follow. - OH Can I be forgiven for accidentally saying jiver, when I actually meant stroller?.....You'll spot it a mile off.
It's a nick name, it's a nick name!! - Don't worry, I haven't gone all politically incorrect.
Today's show is a similar mix of 1950's RnR and rockabilly along with a fair smattering of 60's music, and of course a couple of sillier tracks. Todays show differs from the last couple though, as it is dedicated to the memory of a good freind who passed away on Tuesday of this week (Wednesday 23nd of November)- Craig 'Mong' Collins passed away at the age of 51 RIP.
This music may not be the tracks he would have chosen himself, and they don't necesarily represent his life - But the tracks do hold some meaning relating to him to myself.
Don't worry though, it's not a show filled with melancholy, tear inducing slow tracks. This show is as much about celebrating a life rather than grieving a loss. - PLEASE NOTE - I made a mistake with the date in my original broadcast, it was Wednesday 23rd, NOT Tuesday 22nd.
Another rummage through the racks of old records that I have collected over the years. a more 1950's feel to the show this time.
This is my first attempt, and really a bit of a test, So I may delete it in a couple of days and replace it with the polished version - ~Although, you know what they say about polish and turds!
