Ceci Garrett is a determined and caring survivor who has a deep awareness of what it’s like to support a Parent Who Hoards (PWH). She also has been featured on the show “Hoarders” and shares about that experience from her perspective.
That experience highlighted the need for resources for the adult children who are navigating PWH’s home and mental health issues. This resulted in the Parents Who Hoard Workbook. This resource takes adult children through a series of questions to help them recognize and be prepared adequately to intervene (or possibly to choose NOT to) in their parent's hoarding issues.
Ceci Garrett, MSW, LSWAIC, is a clinical social work associate in the state of Washington who specializes in hoarding disorder. She works with individuals who have an abundance of possessions and struggle to let go of accumulated items. Her work includes working with couples, adult children, and other loved ones looking to set healthy boundaries with their loved one who hoards.
She has been working with this population since 2012 and has been featured in the Spokesman Review, TedXSpokane, blogged at Huffpost, and presented at several conferences about the experiences of growing up with a parent who hoards (PWH).
You can learn more about Ceci here and also download the Parents Who Hoard Workbook to explore your options when deciding whether or not to assist your loved one.
Please take a listen and know you do not have to face hoarding alone!

Marisa Readus is located in Dallas / Ft. Worth Metro area and is the owner of Absolute Touch Specialized Cleaning Services. Her journey began in 2015 when someone from her church asked for her help. The person was in a wheelchair, dealing with a disability and could no longer clean their home. Marisa was honored to be asked, as she had previously worked in the medical field for almost 20 years and helping people just comes naturally for her.
Helping was and is dear to her heart. Although when Marisa first began she knew she could help, but I honestly didn't know if she would be good at it.
When Marisa had finished cleaning the home, the lady said Marisa had done an amazing job. In that moment, Marisa was happy and in that moment she knew she could help many others.
The company grew to working with realtors, property management companies, and other clients who also needed help. It was the beginning of an amazing journey that fulfills a purpose in the lives of others.
Marisa has been working in the cleaning industry for over 5 years. She has been fortunate to have the opportunity to help those who deal with hoarding.
Our kindness and compassion is the true difference between us and other companies.
Most of our clients or their families were ready for help when they call to set an appointment.
Absolute Touch Specialized Cleaning Services also provides home organization services, packing, and after death clear out. Every service receives a deep clean or move out clean upon completion. Because we offer multiple services we are able to go through the entire process with them.

It's important to recognize that the other people impacted by hoarding matter too.
The experiences of the Adult Kid of Parents That Hoard are often overlooked in the conversations where we are called in to assist our parents.
It's actually very similar to what it was like if you were a Youth Living in The Hoard. Frequently overlooked while our needs were often overlooked.
Establishing boundaries and maintaining them is one way we can be sure to not become overwhelmed.
