We are a passionate and dynamic Bible based community of believers, who love God, the church and the community around us. Our vision is to reach and serve Brixton and the wider South London community.
. Through theological and philosophical reflection, Tim challenges believers to consider what this means in practice. He explains that we can unknowingly contain and limit God in our own thinking. Rather than trying to manage God, Tim encourages us to receive Him by allowing Jesus to lead and direct every area of our lives. He concludes that when we truly receive Jesus, lives are transformed and miracles abound.
This week's sermon was delivered by Nick Wood, who used the analogy of a wedding day and marriage to illustrate the covenant between the Israelites and God. Nick explained that the covenant established in the Old Testament revealed its limitations, as it was impossible for the Israelites to keep God's Law through their own strength. Their relationship with God depended on their ability to remain holy, yet they continually fell short. In contrast, believers are recipients of God's grace through Jesus Christ, the Bridegroom, who sacrificed His life on our behalf. Through His death and resurrection, we are atoned for and saved, something we could never achieve through our own efforts or strength.
Last week, Phil Hopgood explored Exodus 23 and helped us understand that the laws given in Exodus can be challenging. However, he encouraged us by reminding us that, as we journey with God and grow in understanding His expectations, the transformation He desires in us takes time. Using several examples from Exodus, Phil showed how these laws can challenge our thinking and beliefs. Ultimately, though, it is only through Jesus that we are changed and come to understand how to live the life God has prepared for us. This transformation does not happen overnight; it is a gradual but certain process as we learn to trust in Jesus and walk with Him.
This sermon was given by Phil Hopgood, who thoughtfully unpacks Exodus 21. Phil reminds us that some of the topics and laws found in the Bible are genuinely challenging and require believers to wrestle with God's heart towards His people. He encourages us not to shy away from difficult questions, reminding us that wrestling with and questioning God's Word is okay. As believers, we are called to consider the historical context and what Jesus teaches about the laws given in the Old Testament. Phil also makes it clear that when these laws seem mysterious or difficult to understand, we should look to God and His character. In doing so, we can find greater clarity, peace, and a deeper understanding of the God we serve.
This sermon was delivered by Lally Wood, who speaks about the Ten Commandments and how they should be applied in our daily lives. Lally reminds us that the Ten Commandments remain just as relevant for believers today. Because they are so familiar, it can be easy to overlook their significance or dismiss them as simply part of the Old Testament law. However, as followers of Christ, we are encouraged to take time to reflect on each commandment, consider its fulfilment and application in the New Testament, and understand how God continues to use them to guide us in living righteous and faithful lives.
In this sermon, Owen Hylton encourages us to consider how we worship the Lord. He speaks about what it means for believers to worship God and emphasises that our acts of worship do not earn us acceptance before Him. Instead of either trying to keep the law in our own strength or abusing the grace given through the cross, we are called to look to God and trust in Him.
The sermon was delivered by Frank Ocampo, who challenged us to reflect on our community and the way we pray for it, particularly regarding the decisions made within the church and in our wider workplaces and society. Drawing on the account of Moses and his father-in-law, Jethro, Frank explored Jethro’s advice for Moses to seek support from others while continuing to pray for the people, asking God to raise up individuals with wisdom and discernment. Frank emphasised the importance of not only praying for our leaders to make wise and sound decisions, but also standing as intercessors for those who do not yet know Christ. He encouraged us to recognise our responsibility to pray faithfully for both our communities and those whom God is calling to Himself.

Sarah spoke about the seasons in our lives when we find ourselves in the wilderness, struggling to understand the journey God is leading us on as believers. She also spoke about the importance of not relying on our own strength, but instead looking to Jesus, who not only carries our every care but has paid it all through His sacrifice on the cross. Sarah encouraged us to continue walking faithfully with God, even when the journey does not make sense. While we may not understand His plans right now, God is faithful and will bring all things to completion in His perfect timing.

He unpacks the importance of looking to God, who is faithful to provide for our every need in every situation. In these moments, we can trust in the God who is victorious and who makes a way where there seems to be no way.
This sermon was given by Phil Hopgood, who speaks about the significance of the Passover and how it foreshadows the death and resurrection of Jesus. Phil reminds us that the blood and water that cover and cleanse us still work, no matter our circumstances. As believers, we can sometimes think that the blood does not remain, but no matter what may come or how we feel, we can come to the cross because the blood still works and remains
This week, Matthew DaCosta continues exploring the remaining plagues, explaining how the Egyptians worshipped and how God of the Israelites displayed His power through great wonders. He highlights how God provided for, sustained, and protected the Israelites in many ways. Matthew reminds us that God should be the Lord and Saviour of our lives. Anything we place above Him becomes an idol, taking the place where He alone should reside. To truly make God our Lord and Saviour, we must repent, surrender, and trust in Him, recognising that He is everything to and for us.
This sermon by Matthew DaCosta challenges us to consider who we truly depend on. Reflecting on the plagues in Exodus, he shows how they revealed God as the true source of life, calling us to fix our eyes on Jesus. Matthew encourages believers to examine what we rely on instead of God, the author and finisher of our faith, and to surrender our hearts to Him even when we are tempted to go our own way. He also invites the church to reflect on the rituals, actions, and traditions we may elevate above God, rather than giving Him our whole heart.
This week’s sermon was given by Owen Hylton, who returned to the book of Exodus, chapter 6, highlighting the challenges faced by the Israelites and the call to obedience. Although Moses follows God’s direction, his weakness reminds us as believers that our weaknesses can be a good thing, as they lead us to press on with God and recognise that we cannot do it in our own strength. Moses encourages the church to see that through obedience we become dependent on God, not on ourselves, offering a powerful reminder of our human limitations.
This sermon was delivered by Daniel Featherstone on Easter Sunday, exploring the question of where our true hope for the future lies. Daniel reflects on how easily we can place our hope in temporary, worldly things—such as money, careers, and personal success. Yet he gently reminds us that these things do not last. Instead, he encourages us to anchor our hope in Jesus Christ. While everything else may fade, Christ remains constant. As believers, we are called to hold firmly to Him—our Living Hope—who rose from the dead not only to redeem us, but also to offer us the promise of eternal life in Him.
This week’s sermon was given by Raj Saha, pastor at Jubilee Church Teesside, on the theme of the “journey of descent.” Raj explained that before God elevates a person, He often leads them through a season of descent—a time of humbling, often marked by suffering and pain. Although this season can be difficult, it is not without purpose. He reminded us that God is not distant in our struggles; He is with us and fully understands. This is because God Himself came down from heaven and entered into human experience, enduring pain and suffering and ultimately bearing it on the cross. Raj encouraged us to remember that God is victorious. Whatever we may be experiencing now is only for a season, made certain by the finished work of the cross.

Dan explores the true meaning of living for Christ, reflecting on Paul’s conversion, life and ministry, which demonstrated a posture of complete obedience and sacrificial action unto the Lord. Dan invites us to consider what it means to die well and the legacy we will leave behind.
This sermon was given by Frank Ocampo and invites reflection on our attitudes towards serving the church and others. Through the Bible and everyday life, Frank shows that serving can be a challenge, but he points to Jesus, who served his community and even his enemies. He explains that serving wholeheartedly means being selfless, which is understood more deeply through an intimate relationship with Jesus, who shows us how to love, forgive, and be like him. If our posture is for selfish gain, then we are not serving wholeheartedly, and this must be brought to the Lord.
This sermon was given by Elisha DaCosta, who teaches us the importance and true value of attending church and gathering together. Elisha makes it clear that it is good for us to come and dwell together, as God desires this for His people. Gathering together can be challenging, as we can be driven by emotions, but making the conscious choice to attend and gather with the church means that it is fruitful. It is at church that we are encouraged, taught, and reminded of God’s promises; furthermore, we build relationships and grow in our knowledge of God and one another.
To welcome the New Year, Phil Hopgood, starts us off with our vision series, which encourages the believer to pray continuously. Phil beautifully reminds us that prayer can be hard for the believer, as theimplication of life may deter or contribute when and how we pray, but Phil reminds us that God is faithful, as even though prayer can feel like an inconvenience, we must push through and make time to pray. Phil offer various way how we can incorporate prayer throughout the day, and reminds us that God cares and understands.
The Christmas day sermon was given by Owen Hylton, who reminds us that when Heaven Speaks, it shows that God revealed himself to patient, humble and faithful servant. Those who God revealed himself to were ordinary people. God chooses to reveal himself to those who are humble, patient and faithful. This means that God reveals to the following: The Father, The Kingdom, Faith, money and Satan. Jesus is God who is with us and Heaven speaks to us, which means Christmas is a great reminder of how much God wants to dwell with us through the simplicity of a child, being born in a manger.
This week, our sermon was given by Lally Wood, who drew our series to a focus on the glory of God. Lally reminded us that the angels presented themselves to the shepherds—people who were lowly and at the bottom of society. This shows that God’s glory is not for a particular group of people or a certain status, but for those who are ordinary—which is everyone. This means that God is there, waiting to extend His hand so that we may encounter Him. It is not about keeping up with the latest trends or reaching life goals, but about fixing our eyes on the Holy One, Emmanuel, who is with us—waiting for us, and calling us to trust in Him.
In this Advent message, Matt DaCosta opens our new series Heaven Speaks by walking us through the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth in Luke 1. Drawing from a season of divine silence broken by God’s surprising intervention, Matt helps us explore what it means to trust God when our prayers seem unanswered, when His timing confuses us, and when His voice feels distant.
This week, Owen Hylton powerfully concluded the prayer series by speaking on the armour of God. He explained that prayer is a form of spiritual warfare, meaning we are contending with an unseen yet very real realm. God provides His people with spiritual armour to stand against the forces of evil and to extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one. As believers, this armour is not given to keep us in constant anxiety or to make us look over our shoulders, but to encourage us to pray—knowing that we have full access to God’s provision so that we can stand firm and pray on all occasions.
This week, Owen continues our prayer series with a gracious reflection on God as our Father. He highlights that approaching God in this way can be challenging, especially if our relationship with our earthly father has shaped our expectations. Owen explains that our relationship with God is not meant to be transactional but deeply relational. Understanding God as Father influences how we respond to unanswered prayer, reminding us that, as His children, we are called to trust Him. Knowing God by His fatherly nature—and by His other attributes—helps us grow in deeper relationship with Him. Ultimately, it is not about us; it is and always will be about God.
This week, Jonny Rudd continues to speak wonderfully about the importance of prayer being the fruit and not the root. He explains that in order for us to pray and hold fast to God in prayer, we must know Him—and the key way we can do that is by reading the Bible, remembering the Word, and knowing God’s character. It is through the Bible that believers are able to pray to God, trust Him and build within the church family, even when the storms of life hit.
This week, Owen wonderfully begins our new series on prayer, exploring the importance of looking to God and what that truly means. He shares how we can turn to God and pray even when life feels challenging or bleak. Through prayer, we’re reminded of God’s nature and character — that when we fix our focus on Him, we can trust that He is the one who answers and responds in His perfect way.

In 1 Corinthians 1: 18-25 Paul the apostle says that Jesus' death on the cross is(a) God's wisdom and (b) is thought as foolish in the thinking of the people of the world. But Jesus' death on the cross is the way we can come to know God and live the new life and in the freedom He gives.
