Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. Peter tells us we are “elect exiles.” The word “elect” is from the Greek word which means to choose. Now an exile is somebody who has been rejected and kicked out of his native land. That’s us. We are rejected and hated by the world, which lies in the grip of the evil one, but chosen, selected, handpicked by God to belong to him. And God chose us, not because he had to, not because he couldn’t get the cool kids to follow him, not because he had to settle for us, but because he wanted us. Peter tells us it was because of his foreknowledge, which means he knew us, he entered into a relationship with us before we were born, and handpicked us to belong to him. In this Christmas season, let’s find great security in knowing that we belong to God because he chose us to belong to him forever. Merry Christmas everyone!
