You as an individualized aspect of the Absolute have the ability to connect to the Absolute. When we consider the objective of religion is to transform the individual into the ideal person we realize that in the process of that transformation the individual losses their uniqueness in order to belong to the community of believers and being accepted into a deep and meaningful relationship with God. One believer must become like the community in order to truly belong to those that are accepted by God, therefore all believers of a religious community exhibit a common method of showing up in the world. Religion teaches that becoming more like its founders is the way in which an authentic relationship with God is established. The goal is to be more like the religious guide (Jesus, Muhammad, Moses, Buddha, etc.) and less like yourself. But being more like your religious figure suggests we as individuals seeking to have a deep and meaningful relationship with God lack the natural characteristics and attributes to establish a connection with God ourselves. Let’s explore the possibility of connecting with God by being more like ourselves and not a particular religious figure.
We look at religion as a source of informing throughout the lifespan of the believer. Religion is a device that assigns identity to both God and humanity according to its own criteria but is religion a reliable source?
We get stuck in the idea and routine of trying to fit in, trying to be accepted and think this is where our power comes from; belonging. Our real power does not come from belonging to a group but by accepting who and what we are and expressing that uniqueness every possible moment we are alive on this planet.
Ultimate Truth, according to religion gives us a very rigid and immutable set of guidelines in with to live our lives according to. This singular system wishes to inform, define, instruct, and assign direction, purpose, and identity to humanity as a whole not taking into account the value of individuality. This episode we discuss how Ultimate Truth is a life giving source for the individual self expression instead of an oppressive chock hold on uniqueness for the sake of conformity.
It is a common notion that God changes mind, but I believe if this is an accurate description of God it is a handicap with severe consequences.
It’s a new year and people are inspired to better themselves. Many times taking on this challenge leads to change but no real transformation. In this episode we discuss personal transformation, how do we recognize when opportunities for it are in front of us.
There is a cosmic intelligence that seems informs leading us along our lives path but how do we tap into it more often?
Our specific culture gives us an idea of who God is but what if that idea is limited? What if there was a way to discover God beyond the single image, word, and identification of a social construct? Why not discover God for yourself.
Consider ultimate truth to be something that is experienced and not something that is exclusive to a religious concept.
Where do the ideas, images and concepts we use to identify ourselves come from? We regularly use cultural concepts and ideas to establish ourselves as individuals amongst our peers, social circles, in our relationships, religions, and society at large. The questions is are these ideas and concepts of identity pushed on us by society honest and authentic to who we are as individuals?
Is becoming more like Jesus or any religious or spiritual figure and less like yourself a soul nourishing spiritual exercise.? What do we stand to gain in attempting to become more like Jesus, The Buddha, Moses, Abraham, Prophet Muhammad, Confucius, Lao Tzu? And in what ways is this spiritual practice of less of me more of you preventing us from showing up as our whole self in our relationship with God, in our spiritual communities and in loving and accepting ourselves and others for who they are?
Let's explore the idea of a good life. What does it mean? How do you define it? How can one adhesive it?
In part 1 of this 2 part discussion we explore the question, if God can be made to be happy, sad, joyful and angry due to the actions of humankind what does that say about the God? Do we make God emotionally unstable? Are humans in control of the emotional wellbeing God? Do we have the power to take God from a state of joy and place God in a state of grief? Is so, what does this mean that God can be pulled in and out of various emotional states and made to be joyful or dissatisfied according to the actions of humankind?
As we evolve as unique persons in the human experience our ideas and understanding of God evolves. We outgrow one idea of God and take on another that makes accommodations for the people we are becoming through the cycle of life.
Religion is wrong when it suggests a meaningful relationship with God requires us to become God's kind of person. Religion says we must change, be born again, be renewed, become something other than what we are now. The most meaningful connection with God is made when who and what you are is embraced.
What would it look if those fulfilling The Great Commission were focused on being Christian instead of making Christians? If I have my own ideas of God, salvation, and spirituality, what can the Great Commission offer that has any value? The Great Commission should be more than a global conversion project but an opportunity to be enlightened by others in order to come to a deeper understanding of love of God, self, and neighbor.
Is one salvation experience enough? If salvation is a solution to the human problem reconnecting us to our spiritual identity there seems to be a need for additional liberations from future problems awaiting us as we experience life as spiritual beings throughout eternity. If we as spiritual beings retain the freedom to decide, interpret knowledge, and understand experiences we will always be subject to misinterpretation, therefore needing direction, guidance, counsel, and liberation.
Does performing good deeds result in the satisfaction of God and subsequent good blessings and a higher quality of life? If this is accepted as true it creates serious problems for both God and mankind.
Making sense of God is done through religion, spirituality, or self exploration but are these tools enough? How do we venture beyond these tools in order to gain a more fulfilling understanding of God?
Religion tells us to forgive and forget, to turn the other cheek and to let go and move on. But forgive and forget lacks the attention to love, compassion, and healing that the victim of hurtful experiences and damaging relationships need. A more loving forgiveness tactic is needed for the healing of the victim, disconnection from the hurt and reconnection to their spiritual center.

The idea that God rejects, abhors and condemns men and women of the LGBTQ community has been promoted and force-fed to the world, but this idea comes from a misguided theology. Tony Spell suggested that true Christinas don't mind dying while Kenneth Copeland has claimed to have destroyed the Coronavirus through prayer and the utilization of the "Breathe of God." What we know about God can be attributed to what we have been told about God, but what can we say we know beyond the theology given to us by others? Knowing God is not like knowing a person or any other material object. When coming to know God a different understanding, perspective and expectation must also come into play. Truly knowing God goes beyond what we claim to know. If we don't attach a mysteriousness to our knowing we remain in the dark.

One thing that is common amongst the human experience is that we all hate suffering. We tend to view it strictly as a form of punishment and condemnation. Anyone that we see in a condition of suffering we instantly feel compelled to do something about it. We have a desire to help free them from the grip of suffering in any way we can. But there is relevance in suffering and we should be open to the experience instead of living a life trying to avoid it.
Chasing money may seem like a positive and necessary activity but it’s actually a distraction. Money can make some things happen, but it can't make all things possible. Success is not contingent on money; success is a result of you taking advantage of the right opportunities.

You can be so focused on preserving, defending and supporting something without realizing it doesn't have the ability to give you what it promised. Many times we experience stress and dysfunction in our lives due to our inability to recognize, expose and eliminate the lies that are actively leading us to our distress and missing out on the blessings that God has for us.
Greatness is not exclusively a result of human effort but rather a spiritual mandate from God. It is a result of God placing power on you to achieve what is astonishing; as you work within your purpose.

We know how to come to God when we're in need. We know Him as a need fulfiller, a sustainer of life, good health and a source of provisions. Yet that is as far as the recognition goes for some of us. We stop there and never go deeper to know God as a truly omnipotent God that sustains supernatural life and health, provisions and blessings.
This is part 2 on Breaking Ties With Toxic People with special guest Simeka Thomas. We discuss how to identify toxicity in your relationships as well as in yourself and how to eliminate it.
Toxic relationships are the reason many of us have experienced setbacks in life both small and major. Many unproductive relationships can be attributed to the fact that they are toxic. But what makes them toxic? What defines a toxic person? How do we get involved with them anyway?
We all have a desire to live the good life; being our best and living the best life that we possibly can. We sacrifice so much of ourselves, our time and our energy to living the good life; but what are the things we're chasing giving back to us once they are acquired?

Love without intimacy is no love at all. Intimacy is the spirit of love; it enables a relationship to be healthy, without it, a relationship is impossible. Being intimate with God requires you to be open and available at all times, never missing an opportunity to make a connection. This is the only type of relationship that is relevant and honored by God; one that is sacrificial, and established in truth. But building an intimate relationship with God requires more than church service, fasting, and Bible reading.
