MacKenzie Simmons, BSN, RN, is a cardiovascular intensive care (CVICU) nurse with two years of bedside nursing experience. She serves as the Early Career Director for the Florida Nurses Association (FNA) and is the Chair of the Clinical Practice Council (CPC) at UF Health Jacksonville. Passionate about nursing leadership, professional advocacy, and empowering the next generation of nurses, MacKenzie is committed to advancing the nursing profession through education and policy engagement. She will begin pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of Florida College of Nursing, where she plans to further her impact on patient care, leadership, and healthcare advocacy.

Featured guest Julianne Colle, DNP, RN, discusses connecting with patients, engaging students, and serving on the FCN Board of Directors.
Dr. Julianne Colle is a Doctor of Nursing Practice-prepared registered nurse, health care leader, and nursing educator with 17 years of experience in surgical services and ambulatory care. Throughout her career, she has been passionate about improving health care operations, leading quality improvement initiatives, and helping teams work more effectively to deliver exceptional patient care.
In addition to her leadership experience, Dr. Colle serves as Adjunct Faculty at the Florida State University College of Nursing, where she has taught in simulation, health assessment, and nursing leadership courses. She is deeply committed to developing the next generation of nurses and advancing the profession through evidence-based practice, innovation, mentorship, and leadership.
Dr. Colle serves on the Board of Directors for the Florida Center for Nursing and is an active member of the Florida Organization for Nursing Leadership. She has played a key role in reestablishing the Panhandle Organization for Nursing Leadership in Northwest Florida and currently serves as the chapter’s Secretary, helping connect, support, and develop nurse leaders across the region.
Her work focuses on creating positive change within health care systems while strengthening the nursing workforce, advancing nursing leadership, and improving outcomes for both patients and care teams.

In this episode, Florida Center for Nursing’s new Chief of Staff Sharon Owen, MBA, BSN, RN, discusses how her work caring for terrorists in Iraq led to her current role.
Sharon is a seasoned health care executive, former Army Captain, and the current Chief of Staff for the Florida Center for Nursing (FCN). In this strategic role, she drives organizational alignment, cross-functional initiatives, and long-term planning to advance FCN’s mission and strategic plan.
Sharon began her career in uniform, serving seven years on active duty as an Army nurse, including two deployments to Iraq. Her leadership and clinical expertise in trauma, ER, and clinic operations during Operation Iraqi Freedom earned her the Bronze Star Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. She was awarded the Humanitarian Service Medal for her relief efforts during Hurricane Katrina.
Transitioning to civilian healthcare, Sharon launched a successful legal nurse consulting business before stepping into executive leadership. In 2017, she became the Administrator of the Ambulatory Surgery Center at Tampa General Hospital. Under her leadership, the center decreased expenses, grew surgical case volumes, and successfully navigated a high-profile change of ownership. Most recently, Sharon served as the Director of Strategic Initiatives for the USF College of Nursing, where she executed the college’s strategic plan and launched innovative programs, including the Registered Nurse First Assistant program and the Nurse Leadership in Sustainability course.
Sharon holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Capital University (2004) and a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Florida (2017).

This episode features Charrita Ernewein, PhD, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC, SANE-A, FAANP. She speaks with podcast host and Florida Center for Nursing Executive Director Rayna Letourneau, PhD, RN, FAAN, about using research to inform care, representing Florida nurse practitioners, and the importance of human trafficking education.
Dr. Ernewein is a family nurse practitioner specializing in pediatrics. She is an Assistant Professor at The University of Tampa and works for the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. Dr. Ernewein completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, her Master of Science and her Doctoral Nurse Practitioner at South University, and her PhD at University of Central Florida. Dr. Ernewein holds a national certification with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, a certification as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, and is certified as a Psych Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
Dr. Ernewein is a strong advocate within the community, working closely with professional organizations and community resources regarding the topics of human trafficking and vulnerable populations. She has also been published in the Journal of Nurse Practitioners, Human Trafficking: Recognition, Referral and Treatment. Her dissertation focused on “Survivors of Human Trafficking and their Reintegration into the Community.” She has also published several book chapters on the topic of human trafficking.
Dr. Ernewein is the President of the Florida Nurse Practitioner Network (FNPN), Chairperson of the Shared Hope International Board of Directors, Director of the FREE Network, President of Sigma Theta Tau Delta Beta Chapter, Past-President of the Tampa Bay Advanced Practice Nurse Council Group, member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and member of the Black Nurses Association

This episode features Cathleen Paton, DNP, RN, CCRN, a 33-year veteran nurse, discussing transitioning from clinical to nursing faculty, the importance of support, and retention strategies.
Cathleen Paton is a 33-year nurse, graduating with her ADN from Indian River Community College in 1993, from Florida Atlantic University (2002) with her MSN and from University of Central Florida with her Doctorate in Nursing Practice in 2022. She worked as a staff nurse in PCU and Surgical/Neuro ICU, as a nurse resource for night shift staff, and then moved into leadership as a nursing director over the critical care areas until 2016.
She transitioned into nursing education as an Assistant Professor of Nursing for her alma mater, now Indian River State College, in 2017, where she currently teaches Nursing Fundamentals in the ADN Program and Nursing Leadership in the BSN program. She specifically teaches clinical readiness, test taking skills and professional communication. She sits on a local hospital Recruitment & Retention Council as well as chairs the Student Success Committee at IRSC which has several initiatives based on student retention, developing professionalism and communication in entry-level students. She has a personal interest in professional identity development of these students in order to promote their successful transition into entry level practice.

This special episode is hosted by Conor Farrell, a master’s student at the University of South Florida College of Public Health. Featured guest Patricia Moulton Burwell, PhD, discusses the value of state nursing workforce centers, quantitative data vs. qualitative data, and more.
Dr. Moulton Burwell has over 22 years of experience working with nursing workforce centers. She is the current Director of the National Forum of State Nursing Workforce Centers and is a Research Consultant for the Washington Center for Nursing. She also created and led the North Dakota Center for Nursing for 11 years. She has conducted nursing workforce research in multiple states and at the national level. She has close to 100 peer-reviewed publications and white papers and has presented at over 120 local, state, national and international conferences. She has served in a leadership role on over $15 million of foundation, state, and federal grants supporting health services projects including nursing workforce. She is currently serving on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services National Advisory Council on Nursing Education and Practice. She received her PhD in Experimental Psychology at the University of North Dakota in 2002.

This episode features Stephanie Philips, DNP, RN, CPPS, discussing the many ways to lead, the importance of sharing experience with younger nurses, and her work caring for those who care for patients.
Stephanie Philips, DNP, RN, CPPS, is an accomplished health care executive and nurse leader with nearly four decades of experience across clinical and leadership roles. She began her nursing career as a licensed practical nurse in the United States Army and currently serves as Executive Director of Patient Safety and High Reliability at AdventHealth, where she provides strategic direction and operational support for enterprise-wide safety culture and high reliability initiatives.
Previously, Dr. Philips held progressive leadership roles within Surgical Services, including serving as Nurse Manager for perianesthesia areas. Earlier in her career, she served as a clinical educator and practiced extensively as a registered nurse across perianesthesia, intensive care, emergency, progressive care, medical-surgical, and specialty settings, bringing broad frontline experience to her executive leadership.
Dr. Philips holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Central Florida, a Master of Science in Nursing from Florida State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southern College of Seventh-day Adventists. She is a Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) and holds national certifications in perianesthesia nursing.
Committed to professional service and community engagement, Dr. Philips has served in leadership roles within state nursing organizations and on nonprofit boards supporting community health. Her career reflects a sustained dedication to nursing excellence, advocacy, and patient and workforce safety.

This episode features Jill Van Der Like, DNP, MSN, RNC, sharing thoughts on care beyond the bedside, the value of experience, and the importance of confidence.
Dr. Van Der Like is the Director of the Nursing Skills & Simulation Laboratory and an Associate Professor of Clinical Practice at the University of West Florida. Dr. Van Der Like has been a registered nurse for over 40 years and a clinical instructor for nineteen of those years. She uses student-centered simulation instruction to improve the quality and safety in patient care, and interprofessional education and research for community health. She is active in the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and Florida Nurses Association. She volunteers as the Student Nurses Association Advisor and for the Pensacola Bay Area IMPACT 100.
Dr. Van Der Like received her Associate of Science in Nursing-Registered Nurse degree at Pensacola State College, Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing at University of South Alabama, a National Certification Corporation certification for Inpatient Obstetrics, Master of Science in Nursing/Nursing Education at University of West Florida, and Doctor of Nursing Practice at University of Miami.

Our first Frontline Nursing episode of Season 3 features Jayne Willis, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, CENP. In this episode, Dr. Willis discusses discovering a new pathway in nursing education, addressing low NCLEX pass rates in Florida, and finding a place at the table.
Dr. Jayne Willis is a Lecturer and Co-Director of the University of Central Florida College of Nursing’s Executive Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program, where she prepares nurse leaders to navigate complex health systems through evidence-based practice, policy engagement, and systems thinking. Drawing on decades of executive experience, she is deeply committed to developing transformational leaders who can advance health care at the organizational and systems levels.
Following a distinguished 40-year career at Orlando Health, where she served as Vice President and Chief Nurse Executive, Dr. Willis transitioned to academia to shape the next generation of nursing executives. Her leadership extends well beyond the classroom into statewide and professional arenas.
Dr. Willis serves as Team Leader for the Nursing Action Coalition of Florida (NACFL) initiative, focused on strengthening nursing education by leading collaborative efforts to enhance educational infrastructure, advance workforce development, and align academic preparation with Florida’s evolving healthcare needs.
She is President of the Florida Nurses Foundation and serves on the board of the Florida Organization for Nursing Leadership. Her contributions to nursing leadership and the profession have been recognized with the Florida Nurses Association President’s Award and the University of Central Florida Outstanding Alumni Leadership Award.
Dr. Willis earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida State University, her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Florida, and her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Nursing Practice from the University of Central Florida. She is board-certified as a Nurse Executive–Advanced and as a Certified Executive in Nursing Practice.

This episode features Danielle Altares Sarik, PhD, APRN, CPNP-PC, FAAN, discussing her work as a pediatric nurse scientist, the Baby Steps model for patients’ transition to home, and the importance of nursing roles that don’t fit the traditional mold.
Danielle Altares Sarik is Director of Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, Senior Policy Service Professor at George Washington University, and Senior Fellow at the Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Research at the University of Pennsylvania.
As a pediatric nurse scientist and health services researcher, Dr. Danielle Altares Sarik focuses on improving pediatric systems of care and outcomes through policy, innovation, and research. She developed and implemented the American Academy of Nursing Edge Runner-designated Baby Steps model, a transition of care approach to address health equity for neonatal patients and families discharged from the neonatal intensive care unit. She actively guides national pediatric research and practice agendas through her service on the board of the National Pediatric Nurse Scientist Collaborative and the Institute for Pediatric Nursing.
Dr. Altares Sarik earned her PhD, MSN, and BSN from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, and her BA from Cornell University.

Dr. Goodrow is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience in mental health, leadership, and education. At SMA Healthcare in Ocala, Florida, she provides psychiatric evaluations and medication management for children and adolescents, including those in high-risk situations, through both clinic-based care and community outreach.
As a mentor and educator, she has provided comprehensive support to nursing students across all academic levels, fostering their professional growth and development. She has designed and implemented multiple training programs aimed at promoting violence prevention and enhancing safety within healthcare environments.

In this episode, John Maye, PhD, CRNA, CAPT (Ret) USN, discusses chronic pain management, learning from former students, and teaching patient advocacy.
Dr. John Maye is a Professor and Director of Pain Concentrations at The University of South Florida in Tampa. His responsibilities include serving as the Program Director for the Advanced Pain Management Fellowship. This program provides experienced CRNAs with training and evidence-based knowledge for the practice of advanced pain management. Dr. Maye retired from the United States Navy in 2015 after earning the rank of Captain. He is a 1992 graduate of the University of Kansas Nurse Anesthesia Program and earned his PhD in nursing from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2000.
Dr. Maye has published more than 35 peer-reviewed articles. He has received numerous awards for his research and academic achievements. He was recently selected as a Fellow by the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology.

Janice Adams, DNP, MPA, RN, joins Florida Center for Nursing Executive Director Rayna Letourneau, PhD, RN, for a conversation about the importance of workforce data, retiring multiple times, and looking at the big picture.
Dr. Adams earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership from American Sentinel University in Aurora, CO. She earned her Master of Public Administration from Troy State University, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University in Virginia, and her diploma in nursing from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA.
Dr. Adams is the immediate past Associate Dean and Director of the Murphy Deming School of Nursing at Mary Baldwin University in Staunton, VA. She has lived in Tampa since 2004 following a successful career serving in the U.S. Navy for 28 years. Her nursing career spans over 45 years. Nursing specialties include nursing education, critical care nursing, and otorhinolaryngology nursing.
Dr. Adams is the Immediate Past President of the Florida Nurses Association. She is the current Director of the Nursing Action Coalition of Florida.

Sherry Hoback, MBA, BSN, RN, discusses community health, the value of wearing your heart on your sleeve, and the importance of accommodations.
Sherry Hoback leads Tampa Family Health Centers, Inc. (TFHC) — one of Florida’s largest Federally Qualified Health Centers — serving over 140,000 patients across 14 locations.
Propelled by her vision, TFHC launched the Tampa Family Education Institute, the Tampa Family Infusion Center, and residency programs in family medicine, dentistry, and pediatrics, including one of only two community-based pediatric residencies in the nation. She championed the Go For More Weight Loss Program and expanded TFHC’s mobile health fleet-bringing medical, dental, and behavioral health services directly into neighborhoods, schools, and high-need areas.
Sherry serves on the boards of HCN, Inc., HCN Florida as treasurer and finance committee chair, Health Choice Care ACO, and FACHC. Florida Center for Nursing Executive Director Rayna Letourneau, PhD, RN, talks with Kim Cartwright, LPN, WCC, FADLN, about her lengthy tenure as a licensed practical nurse, the challenges of home care, and knowing when it's time to leave a job.
With over three decades of dedicated service as a licensed practical nurse (LPN), Kim Cartwright has consistently championed excellence and equity in healthcare. With extensive experience across diverse settings, Kim’s visionary leadership made history when she and several of her colleagues established the Black Nurses of Southern Maryland (BNSMD) in 2012, becoming the first LPN to organize and serve as President of a local chapter within the National Black Nurses Association (NBNA). Her advocacy for LPNs continues through her previous role as the LPN Representative on the NBNA Board of Directors, serving two terms and as a Lifetime Member. She is currently the co-chair of the LPN Council, an ad hoc committee within NBNA.

Dr. Cam Felismino is an accomplished nursing leader with over 20 years of experience in academic leadership, student success, and clinical education. Currently serving as the Dean of Nursing at Arizona College of Nursing in Tampa, Dr. Felismino has led transformative initiatives that improved NCLEX pass rates from 36% to 94.74% and significantly boosted colleague engagement and student retention. She holds a PhD in Nursing Education, an MSN with a concentration in Public Health from Xavier University, and a BSN from San Juan de Dios College in the Philippines.
Dr. Felismino is a recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Circle of Excellence in Nursing Education and the Arizona College of Nursing Peak Performer Award. She remains active in professional organizations such as the Philippine Nurses Association of America and the National League for Nursing, and has presented at national conferences on nursing innovation and diversity in education.

Danni Viera is a board member of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses Central Florida Chapter and nurse of eight years. Danni has had diverse nursing experiences that include hospice, spinal cord injury, med-surg, wound care, ICU, mental health, and adjunct clinical instructor. She is passionate about health equity, climate justice, ethics in health care and health care worker’s rights. Dr. Shannon Shanks is a board-certified family nurse practitioner and the medical supervisor for the Manatee County Emergency Services Community Health Program. She brings over 26 years of health care experience, including roles in prehospital emergency care as a paramedic, Level I and II trauma centers, community emergency medicine, primary care, and health care education.
Dr. Shanks earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Lourdes University in Sylvania, Ohio. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner from Herzing University in Madison, Wisconsin, and completed her undergraduate studies at Mercy College of Ohio.
For the past two years, Dr. Shanks has led the medical team at Community Health, a mobile integrated health care program serving Manatee County. Her work focuses on street medicine, addiction medicine, and providing comprehensive care to underserved populations.
Under her leadership, the Community Health team has received notable recognition, including the 2023 18th Congressional District Fire Rescue/EMS Award for community service, and the 2024 Florida Department of Health’s Mobile Integrated Healthcare Program of the Year award.

This episode features Mati Vizcaino, RN, discussing her transition from pediatric nursing to become a bone marrow transplant nurse coordinator, the opportunities as a bilingual nurse, and the possibilities of nursing.
Mati Vizcaino is an RN Coordinator for the Transplant Medical Services at NMDP. She graduated from Saint Petersburg College of Nursing in 1988 and worked as a pediatric nurse most of her career at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital. She was a PACU nurse for 10 years. She transitioned to become a Bone Marrow Transplant Nurse Coordinator, a position she held for 22 years.
In 2022, Mati began working for the NMDP, a national and international bone marrow/stem cell donor registry. NMDP is an organization driven by a commitment to save lives through cell therapy. She is a Spanish Medical Interpreter and was honored to receive the DAISY Award for extraordinary nurses in 2019.

Dr. Nancy Rudner is an independent scholar and volunteer nurse practitioner. She has focused her career on improving health through the lifespan through patient care, population health, and policy. Her work has included improving health through policy and advocacy for modernized nurse practitioner regulations, population health initiatives, disaster nursing, and international collaborations. She has provided disaster care in Florida, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, and the Texas-Mexico border. Her publications address nursing regulations, disaster care, environmental health, and worker heat protections. Her work has been recognized with awards from Farmworker Association of Florida and the Florida Nurse Practitioner Network. She will be inducted into the Fellows of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners in June. She is working on the Nursing Action Coalition of Florida’s efforts to strengthen disaster nursing preparation.

Dr. Drew’s education consists of a DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice) in leadership at University of Texas Arlington and a Master of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Florida. She is a nationally certified geriatric nurse practitioner through ANCC and licensed and practicing as an autonomous nurse practitioner in Florida. Her experience as a nurse practitioner in the past 36 years has involved mainly primary and secondary care with cardiology and internal medicine patients. She has been involved with nursing policy at the state and national level since 2006. She is currently on the board of the Sarasota County Nurse Practitioner Association, educational committee of the Florida Nurse Practitioner Network, and member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Dakota Redd’s health care journey started more than forty years ago with eighteen years of critical care nursing, focusing on Cardiovascular Nursing. He then took on roles in nursing leadership, moving from Nursing Supervision to Department Director, Chief Nursing Executive and Chief Nursing Officer. Beginning in 2021, he started his current role as the Chief Nursing Officer for Hendry Regional Medical Center in Clewiston, Florida. In 2023 he was recognized by the Florida Rural Health Association, as a “Healthcare Hero” for his leadership and courage in transforming his hospital’s culture.

As a way of giving back, she has established a scholarship in perpetuity through N.E.F., The Francine Bono-Neri Scholarship, which will be awarded annually to a master’s or doctoral nursing student pursuing clinical expertise or scholarly work in the area of human trafficking and anti-trafficking measures. Dr. Bono-Neri was awarded a Nassau County Legislature Citation and was recognized at the United Nations, receiving the 2024 Inspiring Global Nurse Award and the 2024 International Ceca Award. She was selected to be inducted as a Fellow into the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN) this upcoming Fall. Dr. Bono-Neri is the Co-founder and President of Nurses United Against Human Trafficking, P.A., a global professional association created for the sole purpose of combatting modern-day slavery by educating, equipping, and empowering healthcare professionals on human trafficking and anti-trafficking measures.

Two military nurses join the discussion for this episode, Major Isis Rosario, BSN, RN, 66C, 66G, AN, and Captain Andrea Tosi, BSN, RN, CCRN, AN. The guests talk about the importance of mentorship and the differences and similarities between military and civilian nursing.
Major Isis Rosario enlisted in the Army in 2007 as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Demonstrating a commitment to her professional development, Major Rosario pursued further education through the Army Enlisted Commissioning Program. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Wayland Baptist University and was subsequently commissioned as an Army officer. Major Rosario began her nursing career as a Medical-Surgical nurse on a telemetry step-down unit, later specializing as a Labor and Delivery Nurse. After five years in Labor and Delivery, Major Rosario decided to further specialize by obtaining certification as a Behavioral Health Nurse. She has continued to excel in her military and nursing careers, taking on a leadership role as the Officer in Charge of an inpatient behavioral health unit at Fort Belvoir, VA. Major Rosario currently serves as the Nurse Counselor for the 6th Brigade station at Fort Hunger, Georgia.
Captain Andrea Tosi earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a Minor in Military Science from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ, in 2016 and commissioned through ROTC in the Army Nurse Corps. She was activated during the COVID-19 pandemic to support Joint Task Force Civilian Support in Knoxville, TN at University of Tennessee Medical Center (Sep-Oct 2021) and Urban Augmentation Medical Task Force in Riverside, CA, at Riverside University Health System (Jan-Feb 2021). Captain Tosi maintains national certification for Critical Care Nurse through American Association of Critical Care Nurses. She is the Knowledge Management Officer for Female Mentoring and Morale Program through United States Army Cadet Command.

Where do men fit into nursing? In this episode, guest Oleg Frolov, MSN, RN, NPD-BC, CMSRN, discusses his journey as a male nurse in the female-dominated profession of nursing. He also discusses his teaching philosophy and the connection between boxing and nursing.

In this episode, Jackie Silvers, RN, ACLS, PALS, CCU, BLS, CMHFA, dives deep into the realities of school nursing, a much more dramatic line of work than it may seem. She discusses her role as the go-to health expert in the school, the importance of hope, and the “truth” of tummy aches.
Before relocating to Florida five years ago, Jackie’s nursing career spanned nearly two decades of practice in both acute and public health settings. With a strong cardiac background in critical care, she was provided the opportunity to work in a diverse multifaceted office, which included nuclear stress testing, endoscopy theater, and clinical evaluation of double-blind pharmacological studies. Working with a pediatrician provided her with the experience that prompted her school nursing career.
As a school nurse Jackie’s practice has spanned multiple states and diverse educational settings. She has dedicated the last fifteen years to promoting the health and well-being of school-aged children, providing care and support to school communities in both the private and public settings. Throughout her career, she has navigated various challenges— from gang violence to the Covid-19 pandemic—with resilience and determination. Her focus has always been a deep commitment to health equity and fostering a positive environment for learning. Her passion for nursing drives her to empower students to lead healthy lives and achieve their fullest potential.
After graduating in 1989 from Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, NY, with an Associate Degree in Applied Nursing Science, she currently holds a multistate license. She has completed several certifications: ACLS, PALS, CCU, BLS, and, more recently, CMHFA. She currently practices at Carrollwood Day School in Tampa.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dr. Sorrentino finds joy in her personal life. She is happily married and a proud mother of four boys, aged 8, 5, 4, and 1. Jamie Roberts, LPN,shares her experience as a home health nurse and as a triage nurse. She speaks with FCN Executive Rayna Letourneau about the importance of building trust and how nurses need to be well-rounded. “Nursing is not textbook,” Jamie says. “Nursing is thinking out of the box.”

Willa Fuller, BSN, RN is the Executive Director of the Florida Nurses Association and has been a nurse for over 30 years. She worked as a medical-surgical nurse and clinical nurse educator before following her passion and joining FNA to advocate for nurses.

Paula has cared for pediatric and adult patients in many clinical areas throughout her career, including emergency departments, medical, surgical, and ICU units, Vascular interventional radiology, case management, and utilization review. She received her diploma from st. joseph hospital school of nursing in 1991 then continued her education and received a BS degree from Rhode Island College in 2005.

Nina has over 30 years of clinical, management, and consulting experiences with not-for-profit and for-profit healthcare systems in urban as well as rural settings in many states. ABOUT OUR SPEAKERDr. Kim Hatchel has over 30 years of nursing experience, including both patient care and executive leadership. She received her undergraduate degree in nursing from Austin Peay State University in Tennessee, her master's degree in nursing and health care administration from University of Phoenix, and her doctorate in nursing practice from Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Hatchel is currently the Chief Nursing Officer at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, Florida. She has previously served in leadership roles across the country in Kentucky, Texas, and Nevada. While in Nevada in 2017, Dr. Hatchelwas the chief nursing officer (CNO) for Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and Sunrise Children's Hospital, in Las Vegas during the largest mass casualty event in the United States.
