Breakthrough moments can occur at unexpected times. And this was certainly the case for Peter and also for Paul even though both circumstances were quite different. Paul has been waiting and patiently going about his business in Tarsus some 15 years after his life changing encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus. And then he gets an unexpected visit from Baranabas that would change his life and history as well. Peter on the other hand, still hanging around Jerusalem (not fulfilling the commission), needs a literal breakout to get him going.

We pick back up the story in Acts of Peter, who like the rest of the apostles, has not ventured outside of Jerusalem. And as a result, the church has adopted an inward focus and is being persecuted by the religious authorities. But then Peter branches out and gets outside of the Jerusalem bubble. And some very interesting things start to happen... in the name of Jesus of course.

We continue our journey through the book of Acts. The early chapters, the church led by Peter, James and John is still in Jerusalem - NOT fulfilling the great commission of taking the gospel to the uttermost parts. So God looks for a new messenger to do it. And he picks one of the last people on the planet that anyone would expect to be "God's guy"... Saul - infamous persecutor of the church. Saul's transformation into Paul, a believer in Jesus, occurs rather suddenly. But his impact on the world with his message of the gospel is NOT as sudden as one might. In fact it takes significant time for Paul learn how to walk in the power of the name of Jesus. For Paul, complete transformation didn't happen overnight. And it likely won't for us as either. Sin, or missing the mark and settling for less, is an option with every step we take on the path. Of course God will NOT and CANNOT tempt or test us with evil or sin. As we have been discussing, two cannot walk together unless they be agreed... especially on a destination. And our ultimate destination in this life is peace or shalom - which means completeness or to be made whole. In Hebrew the slang definition is. "nothing missing, nothing broken in ALL areas of life." So if that's our destination and we are supposed to walk with the Lord to get there, what does that path look like?

Two cannot walk together except they be agreed. The result of consistently renewing our minds on a daily basis leads to adopting a new mindset - a spiritual mentality. This is far different from the natural or carnal mindset of the average person on the planet. Both mindsets yield fruit and the mistake most Christians make is trying to "muscle" their way into "good behavior" in order to produce that fruit. We discuss how this process really works... from the top (our mindset) down (to our bodies).

In order to walk in agreement with God and not shift our trust, we have to do two things: present our body and renew our mind. On God's end, gives new life to our spirit when we become believers, also known as the spiritual rebirth. But presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice (reporting for duty) and renewing our minds is up to us. Dealing with our bodies can be challenging enough. But it's our mind that always casts the "deciding vote" on any decision. After touching on the topic of renewing our mind in Part 1, we dive a little deeper in Part 2. Most of us who want to walk with God don't even know what that really means let alone how or where to start. In part 1 and part 2 of our creation series, we discussed how there is a HUGE difference between the EARTH and the WORLD. We also uncovered the GIANT gap of time between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2 - like multiple billions of years type of giant gap. In Genesis 1:1, God created the earth BILLIONS of years ago. Then a bunch of stuff happened between that point in time and where Genesis 1:2 picks up the story... a bunch of stuff - reference parts 1 and 2. In Genesis 1:2, God (Elohim) begins the re-creation or renovation of the earth and creation of the WORLD as we know it today - or human civilization.
